00:00The idea that there are fans who get sensitive when you're just like, yeah, it's a no for
00:03me and a complete non-starter, anybody but Deshaun, the fact that people get legitimately
00:09heated about that on social media, I just, that goes beyond just defending Deshaun or
00:14defending the idea of Deshaun, and that goes to how can you still be a Deshaun Watson and
00:18a Browns fan?
00:19I don't understand that concentric circle.
00:21Not when he's wasted four years of your life.
00:23I'm 100% there with you, but I do think, and I got a couple tweets on this, I'm sure
00:27you
00:27did as well, and I do think it's a wrinkle to the conversation that I think we're going
00:31to start to hear.
00:32If it does, in fact, go down, Shador versus Deshaun, I think guys like Pete, Pete on X said
00:39100% thinks Stefanski was the reason that Deshaun was just crap.
00:45That's the only thing that makes me want to see Deshaun with somebody, it being him with
00:49someone other than Stefanski, and so I feel like that group is going to be the group that
00:55exists if this, in fact, becomes the quarterback competition.
00:58I believe I was this person for about a month's time, and then you come back around to the
01:03logic of, if Deshaun has a good season, and it will look good being like, he actually plays
01:09more than 10 games, and he actually looks like an NFL quarterback, which he has not for 90%
01:16of the time he's been on the field in Cleveland.
01:19What is the reward?
01:21What is the outcome that leads from that?
01:23Right, you get to pay him a lot of money.
01:24You get to pay him again, at the very least, a one-year deal, and, like, Kyler Murray taking
01:32you out of the running for a quarter, sorry, Kyler Murray getting you the 18th pick next
01:36year.
01:38Okay, all right, it takes you out of the quarterback, but maybe you trade up and get back into it.
01:42Deshaun Watson taking you out of draft position to draft the guy to replace him, which means
01:50now I have to throw more draft collateral at the Deshaun Watson problem feels more like
01:57a sunk cost than the Kyler Murray thing for me for some reason.
01:59You see why the only path that makes sense is the idea that Jador would be able to start
02:03week one, and you've got to live with this boom or bust reality of it.
02:06He booms, and then everything is great, and then you've got a rookie deal, and you've got
02:09a quarterback, and it's awesome, or he busts out, and then you're there for the 2027 draft.
02:13Like, I've been saying it for how long for a reason.
02:15It's the only thing that makes any sense to me in my brain.
02:18But even then, if Shador busts, and you're four weeks into the season, and you need to
02:24go, because that's what happens, right?
02:26Hey, this guy isn't good enough.
02:27We have to go.
02:28There's always, because you're doing that for the locker room.
02:31The idea that then, okay, now we'll go to Deshaun, also still is a non-starter for me.
02:36It just isn't.
02:37That's, like, Shador to Joe Flacco again.
02:42Okay, not really what I would sign up for.
02:44Feels like a lot of spin in your tires, but at least then I can go, well, I like the
02:50human
02:50being that's Joe Flacco, or I have some, you know, I've watched Joe Flacco throw for 300
02:55yards in the last two years.
02:57Well, you better become a big Dylan Gabriel fan, then, if that's the case, because he's
03:00got to beat out Deshaun Watson for that backup spot, if the room stays like it is right now.
03:05Steve in Hudson, welcome to the show, buddy.
03:06What you got for us?
03:09I just wanted to comment on some of the things you said.
03:12I think, you know, you're a little bit in your feelings about Deshaun Watson, I mean,
03:16because he didn't live up to expectations.
03:18Well, we all said he didn't live up to expectations, but you know what?
03:22Everybody talks about getting Todd Munkin off to a good start.
03:25If this guy is, you know, the guy to get him off to a good start, you can let it
03:29play out.
03:30Yeah, but let's talk probability, Steve.
03:33Real quick, I'll give you a chance to answer, buddy.
03:34Probability.
03:35What's the probability right now from today that Deshaun Watson goes out there this year
03:41and gets Todd Munkin off on the right foot that you're suggesting?
03:44Give me like a percentage, ballpark it.
03:47I would say it's about 70%.
03:50That is the craziest.
03:51You almost made me curse, Steve.
03:53That's the craziest thing I've ever heard.
03:54Let me finish.
03:55Hold on.
03:56Hold on.
03:56Let me finish now.
03:57Who has more to regain to try to resurrect their career right now than Deshaun Watson for
04:02any heaven to go somewhere else?
04:03I think you guys are going to...
04:05That doesn't mean he's capable.
04:06At one time, he was the top five quarter.
04:07Well, wait a minute.
04:08Seven years ago, Steve.
04:10Okay.
04:10You know what?
04:11Okay.
04:11But you know what?
04:12Seven years ago, I was a stiff 290.
04:15Like, if we're doing who we were seven years ago, we all get to take a victory lap here.
04:20But you know what?
04:21You can still get back to 290.
04:23Just like I said, again, who says he can't get back to where he was?
04:27Steve believes in you.
04:28Steve believes in you in a way that a lot of people don't.
04:30I'll get to 290 before Deshaun Watson plays good football ever again.
04:34No.
04:34I'm just saying this.
04:36If you know what?
04:37At one point, he was a top five quarterback.
04:39And I'm not saying he's in it right now.
04:42But again, he has everything to lose and everything to gain by resurrecting his career.
04:46And if I want my ROI, if I return on investment, if I'm the hazards, I at least want one
04:50good
04:51year.
04:51At that point, it gives me something to build on.
04:53If I lose, we've got a draft capital at that time, at the same time, okay.
04:57But at this point, you're still going to have to get another quarterback anyway.
04:59Or if you do a one-year deal.
05:01I'm not saying he's the end-all, be-all.
05:03But I think you're really in your feelings about this.
05:05Wouldn't you want, if we're talking return-off investment, wouldn't it be more valuable to
05:09have Shador go out there and be good than it would be Deshaun Watson?
05:12Like, doesn't that give you greater return?
05:14Shador was a fifth-round draft pick, man.
05:16What are you talking about?
05:18He's on a rookie deal, so that carries over.
05:20And then he's still on the roster.
05:21Deshaun Watson's gone after this year.
05:24Right.
05:24So why not give him an opportunity to play?
05:26He's gone regardless.
05:27Because there's nothing extended there.
05:29There's no building with that.
05:30He's gone.
05:31Like a thief in the night, he's just gone.
05:34So $40 million, you got it.
05:35Like I said, I love you guys.
05:36You want to spend $40 million, spend somebody else's $40 million and just let it sit on
05:39the bench?
05:40That makes no sense.
05:42It's already spent.
05:42It's already spent.
05:43Yeah, I don't know what you're talking about.
05:43Steve, let's just walk through this real quick, buddy.
05:46Because we've given you your chance here, and I want to ask you, what other franchise could
05:52throw out a quarterback who hasn't played good football in five years and who hasn't
05:58been healthy in two years as a real optionate quarterback and their fan base not laugh them
06:04out of the NFL?
06:05Well, yeah, they'd laugh out and tell him, what if he plays well?
06:09No, no, no, no, you didn't answer the question, Steve.
06:12What other team would attempt this?
06:14There's literally no other team.
06:15No other team has the goal to do this.
06:18You're right.
06:18But no other team had an unprecedented trade like that, too.
06:22I grant you that.
06:23The worst trade in NFL history?
06:25Unprecedentedly awful.
06:25I mean, I don't know what you're talking about.
06:27Right.
06:28I grant you that.
06:29But again, at this point, why not?
06:30Again, if you've got nothing to lose in one year, and you've got Shadur for four more
06:35years, why not?
06:36So at this point, if you get your coach off to a good start, and he plays well, then where
06:47are you at?
06:48All right.
06:48Real quick, we disagree, but we appreciate you, and you kept it respectful, and we appreciate
06:53it, buddy.
06:54I think Steve might be maybe the first client to Nick Wilson, let you yell at him for five
06:59hours, or at least an extended amount of time, so you don't go home and have a disagreement
07:03with your wife.
07:04I think so.
07:05You're welcome.
07:05Might be in the docket.
07:07The consulting firm.
07:07Might be on the docket.
07:09Guys, I need better at this point in my life than why not.
07:14I do.
07:15Just, when it comes to football, there is...
07:18Unfortunately for you, that's all the Browns are probably going to give you this year.
07:21I honestly cannot think of another fan base right now that there would be somebody who
07:28their real answer to the quarterback position, the best you got, and the acceptable answer
07:34for anyone is why not?
07:37All right.
07:37Go to Rodney.
07:38Rodney wants to give Watson a chance.
07:40I told you, they exist.
07:42BetOnline.ag is not just lying to us.
07:44Hey, what's going on, man?
07:45What's up, man?
07:46How y'all doing, man?
07:48Doing all right.
07:48What you got for us?
07:49We're fine.
07:50Well, I'm just listening to the Deshaun Watson thing, man.
07:54Deshaun.
07:54I walked into middle school.
07:55Yeah.
07:56Yeah, I did.
07:57Well, here it is.
07:57I walked into middle school into the seventh grade.
07:59Had a knee injury.
08:01I wasn't able to play football until my senior year.
08:04I went five years.
08:05But you know what?
08:06I came back.
08:07I played quarterback.
08:08And I was able to revamp my life and career.
08:11There we go.
08:12I did.
08:12So, I get it.
08:13I get it.
08:14Apples to apples.
08:15Everybody is saying.
08:15Seventh grade in high school to the NFL.
08:17I get it.
08:18I get it.
08:19But it's like this.
08:20All I'm going to say is this.
08:21Rodney, I heard you weren't even that good at quarterback, by the way.
08:23Yeah, we actually, you guys won like three games.
08:24I heard you kind of stunk at quarterback.
08:27Oh, my God.
08:29Who ever told you that story?
08:31That's what I heard.
08:32It was Steve.
08:33I tell you what.
08:34Hey, give me some of that steak y'all eating, man.
08:36Because it's making y'all think different.
08:40Why would steak do that?
08:41You know what's steak?
08:43It's protein.
08:44To make that common, I think you've got to be acting a little different.
08:49I'll send some to your house, Steve.
08:50I'll send some to your house.
08:51They're shipped in three to five business days.
08:54They'll be right there at your front door.
08:55You know what?
08:56Now that he said it, it's changed my opinion.
08:59I mean, Rodney, guys, he got hurt the first day in seventh grade.
09:04He didn't play football for five years.
09:07And in his own words, he was good his senior year.
09:11Is there a high school that would legitimately have somebody their senior year of high school
09:15just be the starting quarterback after no high school experience ever?
09:18It's Chad Powers.
09:19That's what this is.
