00:06:52So it's such a challenge this week because you only have one shot to really be authentic to who you
00:06:58are.
00:06:59I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana.
00:07:01And my mom sang Worship in the Church, and we would sing together.
00:07:06So that's kind of like where my love for music came from is my mom.
00:07:10I moved almost eight years ago to Nashville and actually came to Belmont.
00:07:14Came here for maybe 60 days, but we are still alumni as if we're here for only 60 days.
00:07:20This week, I'm singing Human by The Killers.
00:07:25The song is a little bit more lively. I'm not going to have a guitar in my hand, so it's
00:07:30not really in my comfort zone.

00:51:40My dad is a harmonicus.
00:51:42My mother sang her whole life,
00:51:44but I just never took it seriously.
00:51:49Growing up was difficult for me.
00:51:51I had trouble making friends.
00:51:52I was very shy, awkward.
00:51:57I started playing soccer around age six.
00:52:01That kind of led to making friends,
00:52:03and from that point on, soccer was my life.
00:52:07My dream for soccer was always to go pro,
00:52:09to see my last name on my back with a number that I liked.
00:52:14My freshman year of high school,
00:52:15halfway through the soccer season,
00:52:19I went for a free kick,
00:52:23and I planted my left foot to kick it,
00:52:26and I felt like a gear switch in my lower left back,
00:52:29and I couldn't feel my legs.
00:52:31I snapped my back in half.
00:52:34And that changed everything.
00:52:37It was hard for him to not be able to engage in what he loved,
00:52:41and be around the other boys, and be a part of things.
00:52:45I was lost for a long time,
00:52:47and then I picked up a guitar,
00:52:49and I didn't want to put it down.
00:52:52You haven't played out much.
