00:00For particularly Indonesia, they actually have a long list of what you call it non-tarif burial that they are
00:06actually asking Indonesia to address.
00:25I think we are all, in this case, has been familiar with the rule-based system previously, which is, in
00:34this case, it will be coordinated and led by WTO
00:37if we are talking about the trade and investment agreement.
00:40And, of course, it was not perfect.
00:43There are so many issues which just need to be fixed within the context of the multilateral cooperation on the
00:49trade and investment.
00:51But that was the rule-based we just agreed.
00:54And with the imposition of tarif by the United States, in this case, unilaterally, it actually changed the whole rule
01:04-based system.
01:05Many countries have to decide whether you are going to deal directly, bilaterally, which is this is what the United
01:11States want,
01:12or collectively, which is the United States is not entertaining that, at least until today.
01:18So, for each country, they don't have any other choice, but then have to negotiate bilaterally with the United States.
01:25I think each of the countries will look at each other, what they've already asked, and what they can get
01:33from this negotiation.
01:35For particularly Indonesia, they actually have a long list of what you call it non-tarif barriers that they are
01:41actually asking Indonesia to address.
01:44On that particular concern, this is aligned well with the Indonesia-owned reform.
01:50So, we want to reform many of what you call it doing business, trade, and investment because the non-tarif
01:57barrier directly or indirectly is actually affecting the competitiveness of our economy,
02:04especially the ability to attract capital as well as to establish competitive company in Indonesia.
02:11So, that is actually relatively very aligned with government-owned or Indonesia-owned reform agenda.
02:21On the tarif itself, I think through the negotiation, of course, Indonesia also have commodity which the United States need,
02:30but at the same time, Indonesia also have demand for a certain commodity.
02:35We are importing wheat, we also have the soybean, as well as I think oil and gas is going to
02:42be quite competitive with many of the middle,
02:44but also like aeroplane.
02:45So, these are all the areas that we want to use the opportunity to negotiate,
02:50not really framing within the context of the tarif as a prohibiting relationship,
02:56but more strengthening the relationship that will mutually benefiting both sides.
03:01And as ASEAN, I think we are all, as an ASEAN country, we also look at the other.
03:06There are some countries which are quite sensitive because they're exporting many of the merchandise coming from China,
03:14auto-manufacturing in the border of China like Vietnam.
03:17So, they are getting a different treatment from the United States.
03:22But each of these ASEAN country agree that actually as a group, ASEAN have a much more opportunity
03:29to actually play a constructive role within both regional as well as the global economy.
