00:00Draymond Green's not playing tonight.
00:03He's not playing tonight?
00:04Not playing.
00:05No, he's not playing tonight.
00:06Draymond Green's out.
00:08Okay.
00:08Draymond was questionable.
00:10He's no longer questionable.
00:12They've removed the question mark.
00:14All right.
00:14He's out.
00:15Good news.
00:16Whoa.
00:17I mean, it was glib and flippant.
00:21You better be careful.
00:22It was obviously intended to be glib and flippant.
00:27It's not good news.
00:29Dot, dot, dot.
00:30He hasn't been playing great of late.
00:32Although, as he would tell you, one bad game and you're going to bury a guy.
00:35I have fights breaking out around this building as to whether or not Draymond was good last night or not.
00:41Like, literally, people are arguing over whether or not Draymond was good last night.
00:48I don't know.
00:49If you have to ask, then, I mean, you're realizing that the bar for Draymond Green's been lowered.
00:54Well, I just feel like last night was one of the funniest games that I've seen in a long, long
00:59time.
00:59We got arguments over whether or not Draymond was good.
01:03The Warriors were barely favored over the Pelicans.
01:05They lost.
01:08Quentin Post and Brandon Pajemski are getting separated on the bench by Draymond Green,
01:14who actually I don't even think was interested in separating either of them.
01:18He was interested in explaining some stuff to both of them.
01:22I mean, and all the while, J.K. is down in Atlanta just scoring buckets every two minutes.
01:28It was a good night.
01:29Not a great night.
01:30I mean, and you fought all the way back to maybe think about stealing one.
01:34I guess it's not stealing one in New Orleans when you're, what, one and a half point underdogs.
01:39But you fought back, and you had a chance to still win a game, and you care about winning,
01:43and they don't really care about winning, and yet you get down to the end, and you can't get it
01:47done.
01:48And yeah, meanwhile, J.K. in Atlanta is going off and, you know, not rubbing your nose in it, certainly,
01:55but he definitely played with a certain amount of lightness and freedom that we hadn't seen in a long time.
02:00That line will tell you that Draymond was good last night.
02:02Okay.
02:03Now, there might be nuance.
02:04There might be some things that you saw.
02:06I know people want him to finish at the rim.
02:08I'm kind of with Stiney.
02:10I'm like, he's never done that.
02:11That's not who he is.
02:12I don't kind of understand the people who are always like, Draymond's got to score.
02:17No, he doesn't.
02:18He's not good at it.
02:19That's not what he does.
02:21He scored 11 points.
02:22He went 5 of 11 from the field.
02:24He had seven boards.
02:25He had six assists.
02:27He only turned the ball over one time.
02:28He was a plus 8 in a game that they lost.
02:31Yeah.
02:31Buck score is kind.
02:33Buck score is kind.
02:34Yeah.
02:35And ultimately, what you said there is true, but when you don't have Jimmy and Steph,
02:40and that right there is about, what, $110 million worth of player,
02:44and you throw in Chris Stapps, now we're down $1.40 and change.
02:48Well, somebody's got to go out there and score, and I know that's not what he does,
02:52but in spots where you don't have your three other big ticket items,
02:56it'd be great if you had more of an impact than what you did.
02:59He was fine, he was fine, and you lost.
03:03So, yeah, I give him a C+.
03:05I guess.
03:06I mean, I don't know.
03:07Like, I sort of feel like Draymond and scoring is similar to what we're talking about.
03:13Like, when you're asked, oh, hey, we need Guy Santos to score 20.
03:18Well, if you're asking for Guy Santos, who I really like, I mean, I think he's an interesting
03:24young player, to be honest with you, as a role player, but if you're asking and relying
03:30on that, you're clearly at a deficit.
03:32I feel the same way about Draymond Green and scoring.
03:35I do in a bigger sample size, but I look at last night where you get into a fourth quarter
03:40and he plays almost every minute.
03:42So now, Draymond, you get to finish the game, and he took one shot, and he had three assists,
03:47he had one rebound, and ultimately he was not that much of an impact player in a game where
03:53you were looking for a star to step forward and be, you know, be the Hall of Famer, and
03:57it was Melton who was the big player, and Guy, the aforementioned Guy Santos, who played
04:02well, I just don't know if, we should probably lower the bar in what we expect from Draymond,
04:07and so, yeah, Draymond played great.
04:09Especially scoring.
04:10Like, I never, I never think of Draymond's game in terms of scoring.
04:14This is not how I view Draymond.
04:16Right.
04:16It's not the way I watch him play.
04:18But when you don't have other scorers, you do need him to do a little bit more in that
04:21realm.
04:22You'd like him to.
04:23Sure.
04:24If you need him to, you suck.
04:27And yeah, newsflash, they suck right now.
04:30They don't have their good players.
04:32Right.
04:32They don't have their good players.
04:34Expecting the Warriors to win, there was another thing that's been talked about earlier today
04:37that I really, really agree with.
04:40Expecting the Warriors to win any game right now is a fool's errand.
04:44They might.
04:46You can root for it.
04:48But I love when people are like, oh, well, Memphis is tanking.
04:51So this will be easy.
04:55Okay.
04:56Okay.
04:57I'm sure it'll be super easy without, ready?
05:02Yep.
05:02Steph, Jimmy, Kristaps, Draymond, Andy Anthony Melton.
05:07Oh, I'm sure.
05:08I'm sure they'll go into someone else's arena and defeat other NBA players.
05:13I mean, what could go wrong?
05:16Do you remember the last time they played, like, a couple weeks ago?
05:18Yes.
05:19Down by 10 with four minutes left.
05:20And they only won because of a whack-a-doodle finish.
05:24Like, and Memphis yanked all their people.
05:26Which they'll probably do again tonight.
05:28Right.
05:29But I'm not going to.
05:29I'm not.
05:30Are you assuming anything tonight?
05:32Of course not.
05:33Okay.
05:33I mean, assume nothing.
05:34And, you know, last night, New Orleans is not tanking.
05:37They're just terrible.
05:38And if you look at the reality of their draft, they're going to lose their pick.
05:42So if you're a current Pelican or if you're in the front office, you're thinking, like,
05:46well, we might as well go out there and try and try to win because we lose our pick anyway.
05:50And so that looked to me like a team that was actually trying.
05:54They were trying to play basketball and play winning basketball.
05:57And yet, you know, the Warriors had their chances but still couldn't quite get over the hump.
06:02Kalon Looney, DNP, coach's decision.
06:04Yeah.
06:05I don't like that.
06:06I don't either.
06:07I mean, it started here.
06:09Yeah.
06:09I mean, I'm glad he's getting paid.
06:11You know what I mean?
06:12But I don't know.
06:14Come on.
06:16Play him.
06:16Play him.
06:18Whatever.
06:18Whatever.
06:18What do I know about New Orleans Pelicans basketball?
06:21I don't know what it is they're all doing.
06:23And I'm not saying that that would have changed the whole thing.
06:27But I don't like watching Kavon Looney sit on the bench for an entire game when you're starting center's 41
06:33years old.
06:34Yeah.
06:35But that's a personal thing.
06:36We love Kavon Looney.
06:38Yeah.
06:38I get that.
06:39But, I mean, the whole DNP thing started here with Steve Kerr, who snapped his long streak of consecutive games
06:45played.
06:46So, I think that this is, if you want to talk about career trajectory, Draymond's is trending toward, we're getting
06:52down to the end.
06:53And I think Kavon's is probably looking the same way, honestly.
06:56Honestly.
