00:00How do you think that this injury should change, like, the overall direction of the franchise?
00:06I'm not talking about that right now. We're just trying to win a game on the road.
00:09So, there's a lot of time before February 6th. There's a lot of time before the playoffs.
00:16I don't need any existential thoughts right now.
00:20Dub Nation, it's Stephen Curry. You're listening to Willard and Dibs on 95.7 The Game.
00:25Coming to you live from the Laughing Monk Studios.
00:30Well, thank you, Chef.
00:31No existential thoughts.
00:33Well, I hear a lot of people listen to that quote, and they immediately start going,
00:38Ooh, Steph sounds mad.
00:40And I'm like, that's not what I hear.
00:42I hear that.
00:44Well, like, he's bummed, but hello.
00:46Like, we already knew. Who isn't? Jimmy Butler tore his ACL.
00:50I don't, but what I hear there is somebody who's staying in the moment.
00:54Which I think that, you know, as sports fans, we tend to have a hard time doing that.
01:01I mean, listen to me 20 minutes ago. Ripping the Giants.
01:03They could sign somebody tomorrow.
01:06I know. Probably not.
01:07Sorry.
01:08Do you know what I mean?
01:08Did I laugh out loud?
01:09The Giants suck.
01:11There's still a lot of people out there.
01:14They could make a trade.
01:15I don't know what they're going to do.
01:16There's no game.
01:17They don't play tomorrow.
01:19They could buy another theater.
01:20They could.
01:21And maybe we could watch the Giants go 81 and 81 from that theater.
01:26I don't know what they're going to do.
01:27Really quick, Willard.
01:28It's funny that you just brought up the Giants.
01:29And I just got an update from Andrew Baggerly.
01:33And?
01:33Source.
01:34San Francisco made an aggressive attempt to trade for national shortstop C.J. Abrams,
01:39but came up empty.
01:41Ah, darn it.
01:42Did he go somewhere?
01:43No, he's not gone anywhere.
01:44Well, then make another aggressive attempt.
01:46Nothing happened yet.
01:48And it sounds like it's over.
01:49Why would you report that you made an aggressive attempt to get somebody who's still sitting there?
01:57Because of people like you.
01:58Take another swing, then.
02:00Strike one.
02:02You're not out yet.
02:03We demand that you trade us C.J. Abrams.
02:05I thought you were going to say Freddy Peralta.
02:08Like, that's what the Giants have been great at the last five years,
02:11is telling Baggerly or Pavs or Sluss that the guy who just got acquired by someone else,
02:18they were second.
02:19Yep.
02:20Second place.
02:21They tried.
02:23Super Bowl, try again.
02:25Right.
02:25Free agent or try again.
02:27Anyway, I hear Steph, when you ask him,
02:31hey, Steph, let's talk big picture.
02:33He goes, I don't want to.
02:35We're trying to win a road game.
02:36The trade deadline is in two weeks.
02:38That's what I heard him say.
02:40Yeah.
02:40That doesn't sound like somebody who,
02:43and again, this is just a public statement,
02:45but that doesn't sound to me like somebody who is calling Aisha and going,
02:50do you want to live here anymore?
02:52That doesn't sound, but that's where I hear a lot of people's minds going.
02:55I think we're putting thoughts in Steph's head.
02:57I agree, and what I hear him say in that is, you know, I'm mad because we lost.
03:04We lost again, and, you know, it was fun to see Klay,
03:07but Dallas is not very good, and Dallas beat us,
03:10and by the way, they don't win on the road.
03:12The Warriors are 8-14 on the road.
03:15That is awful.
03:16Like, Memphis is 8-11.
03:18They're not even a playing team,
03:19and then you get all the way down to, like, Dallas and Utah
03:21and Sacramento and New Orleans.
03:23These are bad teams.
03:24So you go to Dallas, and you play a team that's not very good.
03:27They're the 12th seed right now,
03:29and that game was very, very winnable, even without Jimmy Butler,
03:33and yet you found a way to muck it up down the stretch,
03:37and you lost a game that is more winnable than the next two.
03:40That's for sure.
03:41The fourth quarters on the road have been disastrous.
03:44Yep.
03:44They've had a lot of opportunities, sometimes more than an opportunity.
03:47Like, you know, a huge lead with three minutes to go or whatever,
03:52but their finishing on the road has been horrible,
03:56and last night was all kinds of layered just angst
04:02because not only did you have a chance,
04:05but you had Draymond Green do just another outburst-filled,
04:12poorly-timed series of antics that totally stopped the game,
04:17ripped momentum away from the Warriors.
04:21Last night for Draymond Green was probably,
04:24like you hear about resume games, that was the opposite.
04:28That was one of the worst, and I know there have been a number,
04:32but that was one of the worst top-to-bottom sort of on-court displays
04:39by Draymond Green that I've seen in a long time
04:42because it's not even just the antics.
04:43Like, his basketball was terrible.
04:45Right, and that was my point earlier.
04:47Like, the antics used to be, okay, I mean, that's just Draymond,
04:50and it's a flagrant, it's a tech, whatever it is,
04:53but he still went out there and defended great and played great
04:56and the Warriors won, and so it's okay.
04:58I mean, we can kind of excuse that,
05:00but we're now at the point where these things happen,
05:03and they happen in a spot where you can't have it happen,
05:05and then you lose the game.
05:06This is any industry.
05:08Have you ever known a host in our industry who puts up huge ratings,
05:13but then when the microphones go off, awful human being.
05:16Yep.
05:17You ever known one?
05:18Come on.
05:19You ever known 12?
05:20Do you want me to name all the ones I've worked with?
05:22Please, thank you.
05:23Go ahead.
05:24I won't, but, you know,
05:26stay tuned to your various national TV networks for a pic this weekend.
05:32Why?
05:34What happened?
05:34Huh.
05:36Did he put up huge ratings?
05:39I mean, pretty good.
05:40Okay.
05:41They don't still talk about the show.
05:43I know they do.
05:44They talk about?
05:44I know they do.
05:45The show.
05:47I got it.
05:48You didn't need to keep telling me who it is.
05:49But the audience might have needed that.
05:52But he's not?
05:53The guy I'm talking about?
05:55But anyway, like, why would a media outlet stick with those people?
06:03Because they produce.
06:05There you go.
06:05Like, the sales guy at your local whatever, you know, mom and pop shop, if they're killing
06:10it with the numbers, it's like, oh, my God, I can't stand this guy.
06:13But, oh, number one again in sales.
06:15That's what Draymond has always been.
06:16Until?
06:17Now.
06:18But that's why, like, I know, I'm there, you're there.
06:24So many people are just like, I'm so, it's kind of like Steve.
06:28How many years ago was it when we were able to read Steve's lips?
06:31He's like, I'm so bleeping sick of Draymond.
06:33Wasn't that like, I mean, that was like.
06:35Five years ago?
06:36Maybe more, yeah.
06:36That was probably seven years ago.
06:37He was already so bleeping sick of Draymond.
06:40And now all the fans are there.
06:41You're so bleeping sick of Draymond.
06:43But you know why you're sick of him.
06:45The antics aren't different.
06:47They're not worse.
06:49I don't think you even hit the end of your rope.
06:51They're just not paired with winning anymore.
06:53Now we're getting rebounds and we're doing over the head, two handed, full court, heave
06:59passes to Quentin Post, who's double covered.
07:04What went through your brain?
07:07What was that?
07:08Looking for a freebie.
07:10So that's why his antics are hitting different, I think.
07:15Right.
07:16And also you're not, you're not winning.
07:18And as he's getting older, it feels more like he's getting more frustrated by the things
07:23that he can't do anymore.
07:24And I get that because I'm older than you and you're older than him.
07:27And, you know, you get to a spot where there are things you just can't do anymore.
07:31And if you think about it, it's frustrating.
07:34Like, why can't I do X, Y, and Z anymore?
07:37It's because you're older and I'm not a pro athlete like him.
07:40And he's trying to do the things like that where, you know, I'm going to go ahead and
07:43throw this two handed pass that I used to be able to do.
07:45And now I can't.
07:46Yeah.
07:47And there's not like you don't have a team around you that's covering that stuff up.
07:52If that had been Kevin Durant, other than Quentin Post, he probably would have found
07:56a way to come down with it and lay it in.
07:58But that's Quentin Post.
08:01Like, what?
08:04Boy, I'd love to do a whole interview just about that pass.
08:07Dub Nation, this is Quentin Post.
08:09What the hell are you thinking?
08:12Well, I'm watching it right now.
08:14What went through his brain to think that that was the thing to do in that moment?
08:19He's thinking about getting a freebie and an easy one.
08:23And, you know, when you get older, you start thinking about like shortcuts and you try to
08:27do things that, you know, maybe you probably shouldn't do.
08:30And this is what I see from Draymond a lot where, you know, you just don't want to have
08:35to put in the work to get a bucket.
08:36So you get a steal here and the ball comes to you and I'm watching it right now.
08:41And Quentin Post is he's going streaking down the middle of the floor.
08:44Quentin Post, by the way, not open.
08:47Well, even if he is open, but not open.
08:50So, yeah, I mean, he's he's kind of open.
08:53He is.
08:54But if he is open, let's just say that he was throwing that pass to, I don't know,
08:58Kaminga.
08:59So Kaminga goes up and probably rescues it.
09:02But you're throwing it to Quentin Post and no disrespect to Quentin.
09:05But if it's if it's a 50 50 ball, he's not the most equipped to go up there and save
09:10Draymond's bacon.
09:12888-957-9570.
09:14I want to go to the phones, but we promised you this.
09:16Here's Shams today on ESPN as we approach the trade deadline and Giannis.
09:21This is now reaching different levels.
09:24Maybe in the offseason, you know, you have to really trust your sourcing and trust you're
09:28getting it from from people and things like that.
09:30But this is now happening in real time with the Bucs like this is there are games being
09:35played.
09:36There are pregames.
09:38There are postgames.
09:39There are in-game environments that are going on right now that, you know, maybe it
09:44is a lot more sheltered in the offseason, right?
09:46Where it is very much between player and agent and team, you know.
09:51But as the season continues to go on, there's frustration that happens.
09:55There's conversations that take place.
09:57And the reality is when you have a star player who is Giannis is the one that said on Monday
10:05on MLK Day, he was asked, are you going to spend, do you have confidence you're going
10:11to be with the Bucs for the rest of the season?
10:13His response was, I don't know.
10:15I don't know.
10:16I take it day by day.
10:17Okay.
10:18So there's that.
10:20And everybody's been pounding us over the head with the idea.
10:23I saw it from Bobby Marks again today, too.
10:26Like trade deadline stuff happens the last week.
10:28Yep.
10:29So everything you're hearing up to now, grain of salt, grain of salt.
10:33And what immediately pops to mind is, well, for there to be a demand, there needs to be
10:38demand.
10:39That came over.
10:41I think there's demand for Giannis.
10:42Well, yeah.
10:43I think there's demand for Kaminga.
10:47I think there's demand for Kaminga, who might have played his last game with the Golden
10:52State Warriors, by the way.
10:53I mean, depending on how bad the injury is, I don't know if you've seen or if there's
10:58an actual word, because it was the ankle and the knee.
11:01Yeah.
11:01And he said the knee was bothering him more than the ankle.
11:04And yeah, there was going to be an MRI today.
11:07We've not heard anything as of yet.
11:08We'll pass it along as soon as we do.
11:10He looked impeccable while he was out there yesterday.
11:15He sure did, yeah.
11:16He looked impeccable.
11:17Aggressive and assertive and like, you know, getting to the foul line and won.
11:21And didn't miss.
11:23Right.
11:23He did not miss.
11:24He was spectacular.
11:25Yeah, he was fantastic.
11:26And unfortunately, he only played nine minutes.
11:28And so, you know, there's that.
11:29But in those nine minutes, yeah, he looked bouncy and vibrant and all the other things.
11:34So I don't know if that means the Warriors are thinking, yeah, we got to keep this guy.
11:37Or is it just more of a case where now that they have to deal him?
11:42I appreciate 415 on the Boxman Grossman Work Injury attorney's text line said,
11:46Ton just would have caught that pass.
11:48That's right.
11:49It's actually really good.
11:50Yeah.
11:50Would have high pointed that thing.
11:52Yeah, he would have.
11:53Yeah, he would have fumbled it after that.
11:55But anyway, possibly.
11:55I'm sorry.
11:56Possibly.
11:57Possibly.
11:57Possibly.
11:57Possibly.
11:57Possibly.
11:57Possibly.
11:57Possibly.
11:57Possibly.
11:57Possibly.
11:57Possibly.
11:57Possibly.
11:57Possibly.
11:57Possibly.
11:59Possibly.
11:59Possibly.
