00:00President Trump delivered the 2026 State of the Union Address last night,
00:04the nearly two-hour-long speech ticking off the many wins of his first year of his second term.
00:09In short, he said this.
00:11People are asking me, please, please, please, Mr. President, we're winning too much.
00:16We can't take it anymore. We're not used to winning in our country.
00:20Until you came along, we're just always losing, but now we're winning too much.
00:25And I say, no, no, no, you're going to win again. You're going to win big.
00:31Among the wins, the president said there were zero illegal immigrants admitted into the country in the last nine months.
00:37He celebrated the capture of Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro and the corresponding boost in oil production.
00:43He claimed the end of DEI in America, slammed Democrats for voting against the big, beautiful bill,
00:50supporting youth transgenderism, and blamed them for the affordability problem he has promised to solve.
00:56And on that note, he even suggested that his tariffs, assuming he can clear the legal hurdles,
01:02could one day lead to the end of Americans paying income tax.
01:06Trump also awarded five medals, including a Purple Heart and two Congressional Medals of Honor,
01:11live in the chamber during the speech as well.
01:13Talk of foreign policy largely took a backseat to domestic issues,
01:18but the president reiterated the need to keep Iran from getting a nuclear weapon
01:22and reminded everyone that so far negotiations aren't going all that well.
01:26The clock is still ticking.
01:28Outside of policy and politics, the president also paid tribute to his fallen friend, Charlie Kirk.
01:34As was expected, Democrats made their distaste for the speech known multiple times during the night.
01:39Texas Congressman Al Green got booted from the floor for the second year in a row.
01:43Michigan Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib wore an anti-ice pin, which included an expletive.
01:49And along with Minnesota, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar heckled the president repeatedly.
01:53At one point, the president was forced to shout to be heard over Omar in particular,
01:57and he told her she should be ashamed of herself.
02:00But let's end all of this on a lighter note.
02:03In perhaps the most talked about moment of the night,
02:06Trump celebrated the U.S. men's hockey team winning gold at the Olympics
02:09and announced that he would award goalie Conor Hallibook the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
02:14The Justice Department has filed a lawsuit against New Jersey Governor Mikey Sherrill
02:19over her executive order aimed at blocking ice raids on state property.
02:22Attorney General Pam Bondi slammed the Garden State Governor, saying in a statement,
02:26quote,
02:26Federal agents are risking their lives to keep New Jersey citizens safe,
02:31and yet New Jersey's leaders are enacting policies designed to obstruct and endanger law enforcement.
02:37Bondi went on to promise that New Jersey's sanctuary policies will not stand.
02:42Sherrill's EO specifically directs state agencies to block the feds from entering non-public areas of state property,
02:48but does not bar them from any areas that are open to the general public.
02:52Now, the biggest issue for the feds is that the order would bar them from accessing New Jersey jails
02:57to arrest illegal immigrants before they're released back onto the streets.
03:01And I should note, this has been a key strategy for border czar Tom Homan.
03:06Governor Sherrill was asked about the lawsuit on Tuesday and fired back with this.
03:10What the federal government needs to be focused on right now,
03:13instead of attacking states like New Jersey working to keep people safe,
03:16is actually training their ICE agents with some modicum of training,
03:21like any law enforcement officer in the state of New Jersey would have,
03:24so that they can operate better and more safely.
03:28Republican lawmakers are accusing their Democratic colleagues of threatening national security
03:32amid the partial government shutdown that has left the Department of Homeland Security
03:36unfunded for more than a week now.
03:39That funding lapse is impacting the Secret Service, TSA, FEMA,
03:43and other critical agencies that fall under DHS.
03:46While workers in those areas will start missing paychecks soon and until Congress inks a deal.
03:51FEMA and the TSA have been working around the clock amid the blizzard here in the Northeast,
03:55and Secret Service and others charged with the security of last night's State of the Union address,
04:00putting more stress on the system.
04:02Republican Congressman Don Bacon of Nebraska slammed Democrats for allowing those workers to go unpaid,
04:07saying on X, quote,
04:08holding innocent folks hostage is bad policy and bad politics.
04:13The left is holding up for changes to ICE policy, namely banning agents from wearing masks,
04:18ending roving patrols, and more.
04:21As of Tuesday evening, there was still no movement toward any deal to end the partial shutdown.
