00:04big, big plans, because this year is America's 250th birthday. The president plans to hold,
00:10in his words, the most spectacular rally on the National Mall, with the backdrop of the
00:15newly refurbished Reflecting Pool. That will hopefully be a lovely sight, except the Reflecting
00:21Pool is currently green again with algae and looking kind of gross, but they're working on it.
00:25The president will deliver a keynote address on the 4th of July, but the event will also include
00:29military bands, orchestras, and ceremonial units performing patriotic songs and American classics.
00:35Trump said, quote, we will have none of those people that put you to sleep and constantly
00:39complain. That was perhaps a nod to the artists that very publicly backed out of the planned
00:44Freedom 250 concerts. Regardless, sounds like we've got a really jazzy rendition of You're a
00:50Grand Old Flag coming our way next month. The 250th birthday soiree will also include military flyovers
00:55and what the president says will be the largest firework show in history.
01:01An ICE agent in New Jersey was struck by a van being driven by a fleeing suspect on Monday.
01:06The collision prompted him to open fire on the vehicle, striking it several times.
01:10Now, the incident took place in southern New Jersey, about 60 miles east of Philadelphia.
01:15The Post's senior reporter, Chris Neesey, has been all over the story, and he filled me in on all the
01:19details.
01:19This is another vehicular attack against immigration agents who have faced a 3,300 percent uptick in
01:26such attacks since the start of President Trump's second term in office. ICE tells me that this
01:31particular incident happened while they were conducting a targeted vehicle stop in Manahawken
01:35on the suspect, whose name has been released as Friedrich Castillo Ormeno, an illegal immigrant
01:42from Peru who was released into the U.S. under the Biden administration.
01:46While officers were trying to stop him, he took off, striking the officer and fleeing the scene.
01:52The officer drew his weapon, fired several times, one local report saying he may have blown out the
01:57van's rear windshield. The officer was brought to a local hospital for treatment, and the agency did
02:03not report on this condition, but they did say that they would update the public when additional
02:07information became available. One thing that also wasn't immediately clear is what, if any, crime
02:13Castillo Ormeno had been accused of, but that he was given, he was given a final order of removal by
02:20an immigration judge on January 30th. ICE and the FBI are currently on scene, and they're actively
02:26searching both for the van and the suspect behind the wheel. Governor Gavin Newsom said on Monday that
02:31the U.S. Department of Justice has put him under investigation. In an explosive video post to social
02:37media, Newsom says federal investigators are looking into his activities, as well as investigating his
02:42wife Jennifer and other family members. He's calling the probe an act of political retaliation, basically
02:48saying this is nothing more than a tactic by the DOJ to damage his political future, as the Democratic
02:53leader of California weighs a run for president once he's out of the governor's mansion. Here's the
02:58governor himself. In recent days, federal agents have knocked on the doors of family, friends and former
03:03employees. Not because they found a crime, because they're simply trying to find one. They're demanding
03:09records. They're abusing the grand jury process, digging through years and years of random documents.
03:16Donald Trump isn't just coming after me because of my mean tweets. He's coming after me because I'm
03:22considering running for president. Newsom's nearly five-minute diatribe goes on to accuse the president
03:27of selling the presidency and turning the White House into a, quote, marketplace. Now, this is Newsom's
03:33latest chess move to seemingly position himself as the principal anti-Trump, anti-MAGA candidate in a
03:40potential 2028 presidential campaign. As for the investigation itself, officials for the White House
03:45declined the Post's request for comment, deferring to officials at the Justice Department.
