00:00President Trump, a regular sight, sitting courtside at Knicks games prior to becoming
00:04President Trump, heaped praise on his hometown team after they became NBA champions this weekend.
00:10The president posted, quote, congratulations to Jim Dolan and the New York Knicks.
00:14What a year it has been, but even more so, what incredible playoff wins we have all witnessed,
00:20especially the last four, maybe the greatest in the history of basketball.
00:24Now, we all know the president is prone to exaggeration from time to time,
00:28but he is not wrong here.
00:30Meanwhile, New York City Mayor Zoram Mamdani offered details about this week's Knicks celebration.
00:35In what very well could be the largest ticker tape parade in the history of the city,
00:41Jalen Brunson and the rest of the champs will make their way from Battery Park,
00:44near the summer tip of Manhattan, up Broadway, known as the Canyon of Heroes for its history
00:48of hosting these types of parades, ending at City Hall where the Knickerbockers will get the key to
00:53the city. Parade tip-off is at 10 a.m. on Thursday and the city is expected to release more
00:57details
00:58as we get closer.
00:59President Trump flew to France overnight to join the annual summit of G7 leaders.
01:04What will be the big topics of discussion during the multi-day event? And what should we be on the
01:09lookout for from the president and his global colleagues? White House reporter Emily Gooden
01:13is in France and got me up to speed on the week's proceedings.
01:16The name of the game for this summit may be avoidance. President Trump is coming into the G7
01:22having strained relations with five out of the six leaders. There's unhappiness over the situation
01:29in Iran. Trump is unhappy that the other European leaders refuse to help him with the war. The European
01:36leaders are mad that he threatened to take Greenland, that this war has driven up gas prices.
01:40So there's just a lot of tension going into these three days. And a lot of the experts that I
01:46talk to
01:47are predicting the fellow world leaders are going to just ignore the president. One even compared it to
01:52that infamous Saturday Night Live skit where Alec Baldwin played President Trump at the school cafeteria and
01:58the other world leaders made him set at a different table and made fun of him. So things are tense.
02:04We'll see how it goes. We'll see if things blow up or if people just smile politely and walk away.
02:10I'm going to dig into the Iran peace deal in just a minute, but the whole thing was nearly literally
02:15blown up after Israel conducted fresh airstrikes on Lebanon over the weekend. Iran has repeatedly been
02:21furious over similar attacks and has said any more will destroy plans for peace. True to form,
02:27these latest attacks reportedly infuriated Iranian leaders and prompted President Trump to ask
02:32Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, quote, what the F are you doing? The president recounted
02:38this interaction on Fox News and basically said he's acting as peacemaker, adding that he would also
02:42speak with Iran to ask them not to retaliate against Israel. Those strikes near Beirut were prompted,
02:49Israel says, by Hezbollah firing shots towards Israeli territory. Now Trump weighed in publicly again on
02:55Sunday, posting, quote, this morning's attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly
03:00on a special day when we are so close to a peace deal with Iran. Israel has the right to
03:04defend
03:05itself against threats, but the attack it was responding to was very small and meaningless.
