00:01It's not easy to be a CEO.
00:03It's not easy to be a CEO who's a woman.
00:06But we're all powerhouses in our own right.
00:08I'm really proud to work with such a great group of women.
00:11Turning on my leader role.
00:13Click.
00:14The world sees us as polished women,
00:17but really there's a lot of purpose and passion behind that.
00:21What it takes to be a real entrepreneur.
00:24You show up with your best championship mindset
00:26and make a mark.
00:28We gotta take these punches and just roll with them.
00:31And like, this is really good feedback that we need to hear.
00:33But we have to adjust.
00:34No matter what I've done in the past,
00:36I still have to prove myself.
00:39This lip applicator situation is really driving me nuts.
00:43Being a new entrepreneur,
00:45there's so many things that you're going to learn
00:46and then share your passion with someone else
00:49and have them believe the same passion that you believe in
00:53is terrifying.
00:54We both agreed how difficult the fashion business really is.
01:00Never easy.
01:04I don't like that one.
01:05She knows what she likes.
01:07It knows what she doesn't like.
01:08Sorry.
01:09I'm not slowing down anytime soon.
01:12I'm just starting to ramp things up.
01:13I'm building something I've never built before.
01:16There is a lot of pressure I put on myself to live up to my family name.
01:19We're looking at companies that are already doing between
01:215 and 20 million in revenue.
01:24I have to succeed at what I'm doing.
01:25Period.
01:27I don't want to put anything out that does not represent who I am.
01:33I want my girls to see that it's possible to have a career and have a family.
01:39I want to create something that they're going to be proud of their mom.
01:44I feel like I'm always reinventing myself.
01:47The good thing about music right now is that everything goes versus like when I started,
01:54it was just like you have to be pop and that's it.
01:56We reinvent ourselves by doing different collaborations.
02:00Keeps you fresh.
02:01Keeps you relevant.
02:03If you stop, you stop.
02:05Women put so much pressure on themselves to be this man boss.
02:11I say, who said that we have to be like them?
02:15If we want to inspire the next generation of women, it's important to lead by example.
02:21Not by following rules, but by rewriting them.
02:25Don't let society put a ceiling on what you're able to do or achieve.
02:30Don't buy into that narrative.
02:32Success is not a linear path, but if you stick to it,
02:35you will get where you're supposed to be.
02:37The only true failure is quitting.
02:40Cheers.
02:42My friends are women that I'm inspired by.
02:46I want to learn from them.
02:47I want to grow from them.
02:48Yay!
02:49Hi, honey.
02:51So cute.
02:52You went from $25 a week to a billion-dollar company.
02:55You're going to have a really great next chapter.
02:59We are not just rising.
03:00We are redefining what leadership looks like.
03:03This is just the beginning.
03:29We're still on schedule for 7.30.
03:31Oh, very good.
03:32All good?
03:33You feeling good?
03:33I am feeling great.
03:35What are some big surprises when someone leaves you for the first time?
03:38I think it's a surprise because when you see me on the tennis court, I'm just insane serious.
03:44We're talking about somebody very special in the history of the game of tennis.
03:49You know, I'm so used to just putting on this face.
03:52So now that I'm not doing that anymore, the mask is off.
04:00I literally never leave the girls.
04:03And I'm room mom.
04:04I'm basically the teacher's assistant.
04:07Like, I'm hanging up things.
04:08Yes.
04:10So I was in the class the other day, and they had an impromptu spelling bee.
04:13And I was like, you know, I was working, you know, I was hanging things when I was listening.
04:19And I was like, oh, good job, Olympia.
04:21Yeah, go for it.
04:23With the pressure for the other girls, Serena Williams is like, wow.
04:26Yeah, it's awesome.
04:28For me to kind of go from athlete to entrepreneur, it just really went hand in hand.
04:33But I always knew that I wanted to be a mom.
04:36I also want to be there for them and provide them with some stability.
04:41So for me, it was like a choice.
04:43Do I want to have kids or do I want to play tennis?
04:47Motherhood has shifted my perspective.
04:49Before I had kids, I never had boundaries, anything goes.
04:51And now I'm like, yeah, I can do that as long as it works within my schedule.
04:55My days are crazy.
04:57Like, I wake up and there's always a kid in my face that starts my day.
05:03It's definitely interesting days nowadays, but I love it.
05:06Are we close?
05:07Yeah.
05:08What's going on?
05:09Yeah.
05:09They're starting.
05:10They're starting.
05:14Can't wait to hear your panel.
05:17How are you?
05:18Hi.
05:19Great.
05:19How are you?
05:21I've been really good.
05:23Yeah.
05:23How about you?
05:24I've been good.
05:25Oh.
05:25Hi.
05:27How are you?
05:28We travel so much.
05:30We're all so busy with our own lives and our own worlds.
05:33I think it's so special when we can find the time to celebrate each other.
05:38So being able to come together is just magical.
05:41Hi, Serena.
05:42Hi, Simone.
05:44Is there such a thing as a typical day in your life?
05:46My days are definitely different now.
05:50I cook on Tuesdays.
05:52It's Taco Tuesday.
05:53And pasta Mondays.
05:56Raising two daughters is really special to me because my mom raised five daughters.
06:00And so I feel like I have an opportunity to all the lessons that I was able to learn from
06:05my mom.
06:07Confidence.
06:07Speaking up for yourself.
06:09Life lessons that I'm teaching my daughters that are quite frankly invaluable.
06:12Tell us, Serena, a little bit about your venture capital firm, Serena Ventures.
06:18Yeah, so I've invested for over 15 years and I just fell in love with finding early stage companies and
06:26investing in them.
06:26I love to be successful in whatever I choose to do.
06:30Pressure is a privilege.
06:32It could be stressful if you look at it as stressful, but if you look at it as a privilege,
06:36then it can change you as your career continues.
06:40Of course, I was this crazy athlete, but at the same time, I always did different things.
06:44Like I have my venture company, which is Serena Ventures.
06:47It's about investing in women, investing in people of color.
06:50I also have this new beauty brand.
06:53When beauty, being a founder is a lot, but I love it.
06:56It's very rewarding for me.
06:58I feel like I need to follow my gut a little bit more and show up trying to be different
07:05and make a mark.
07:07Are you guys going out tonight or what?
07:08I don't know. I want to go out tomorrow night.
07:10You're like it's almost 10 o'clock.
07:12I know, yeah.
07:12I have a dentist appointment at 9 a.m.
07:15Oh, okay, okay.
07:16I'm going out. I'm going to that boat party I'm trying to go to.
07:20Which one?
07:21I don't know. I don't remember where it is.
07:22I went through a lot of stuff in my life, and my legacy is about empowering women.
07:27Yeah, so I'm going to change out of my business casual look.
07:30No, please. I hate this.
07:32I'm wearing a button now.
07:33Must you be so hot?
07:34You know what I mean?
07:35I want to do good.
07:36You know, I'm going to show everyone that no matter who you are or where you're from,
07:41that we're in it together.
07:43Let's do this.
07:44Yeah, you got to send me that because I got to put all that on my TikTok.
07:47Who is that thick thing?
07:48Did you see the look?
07:49How is that bowl of grids?
07:50I'm not gonna do it.
07:54I'm not gonna do it.
07:58I'm not gonna do it.
08:01Okay, girls.
08:03Let's move some things around.
08:05Let me check everything is properly done.
08:08Okay, this is perfect.
08:11Make sure the light is hitting the diamonds.
08:14The light is hitting one, but it's not hitting the other one.
08:17Yeah, there.
08:18Okay, perfect.
08:22Hello.
08:25I'm Isabella Rangel Gretman.
08:27I'm a wife.
08:28I'm a mother of two girls.
08:30I started modeling when I was 13 years old.
08:32So I've been in the fashion industry for 20 years.
08:36And then I started Rangel, and that's a sustainable clothing brand.
08:40As well as my jewelry brand, Issa Gretman Jewelry.
08:44And I just opened a store in the design district in Miami.
08:48That is a dream come true.
08:50Winnie Hollow is coming over, and she wants a piece for the CFDA dinner.
08:56And it needs to be something special.
08:58I always had a big passion for jewelry.
09:00I always loved that jewelry comes with memories.
09:03It's passed down generations.
09:04It's something that will last forever.
09:07The yellow you're gonna bring from the back, right?
09:10Yes.
09:11I started with 12 pieces.
09:13Haley Bebo wearing my mom ring was a great exposure for my brand.
09:18Everything happened really fast.
09:20People wanted more and more.
09:21So it's very important for me to just keep up that desire
09:25that people have for the jewelry brand now.
09:27Should we pull out the bracelet?
09:28Yeah.
09:29Can you pull out the bracelet, too?
09:32Yeah.
09:33Like that.
09:33And if she wants something more white gold, I can go with the hard diamonds and the tennis.
09:42Oh, my goodness.
09:44Look at that girl.
09:49Look at that girl.
09:51Hi, Angel.
09:53Hi.
09:53What are you doing?
09:55Look at your clothes.
09:57Oh, my God.
09:58You look so good.
09:59Thank you, babe.
09:59So do you.
10:00I've known Isabella since I was 22 or 23.
10:04Isabella has been right beside me turning up for every birthday, every celebration.
10:08I'm so proud of you.
10:11I'm so, so proud of you.
10:12Wow.
10:13She's been that girl when it comes to jewelry, rings, bracelets, earrings.
10:18I always love the way that she stacks things.
10:21I was in talks with, like, some other people about wearing jewelry and stuff.
10:25And when you hit me up, it was like a no-brainer.
10:28Like, that's my girl.
10:29You just launched your store.
10:31Like, you've been working on your brand for so long.
10:34You're the best.
10:34And I'm so happy to, like...
10:35You're always so supportive to us.
10:37Like, you're the best.
10:39I'm excited that she asked me to wear her jewelry to the CFDAs, which is like a really
10:45prestigious award show that honors and highlights incredible designers from around the world.
10:51It's a good start, but I would do one more of this in the middle.
10:55It's my first time being invited, and I'm very happy and grateful because, as a designer, it's a dream come
11:03true.
11:04The visibility and to be around everybody will be insane.
11:10I really love the combination of white gold and yellow gold.
11:13Me too.
11:14People need to look at you and be like, wow.
11:16What is she wearing?
11:17Like, this girl is like, yeah, what is she wearing?
11:21Winnie gets a lot of attention.
11:24So, it was very important for me to create something that is very impressive and present the best that I
11:30can.
11:31I think those two together.
11:34Because it's the both, like, pear shape, and one is going that way, this is going this way.
11:40It's kind of, like, cool.
11:42I think it's very beautiful.
11:44But the back, there is a little flower here.
11:48So, the back is very pretty, too.
11:51Yeah, I think that's it, girl.
11:53Oh, my gosh.
11:53I'm so excited for the CFDAs.
11:56But I think that the red carpet will freak me out.
11:58Really?
11:59Yes.
12:00I don't know.
12:01It's, like, too many cameras and, like...
12:03And they're yelling.
12:04Yeah.
12:05I don't know.
12:05Isa!
12:06Isa!
12:07Isa!
12:08Isa!
12:10No!
12:10Can I cover your face?
12:12Cover it like this.
12:15Come, practice.
12:16Isa!
12:17Oh!
12:19The CFDA event, it could be a big career boost.
12:23Hopefully, like, people will acknowledge me and also see what I can create.
12:29It is a big spotlight.
12:30I really do love you so much.
12:33And this is honestly an honor to be wearing my friend's jewelry brand to the CFDAs.
12:42I can't wait to see you in that red carpet with my jewelry.
12:46Period.
12:58Hey!
13:00How are you?
13:01I miss you.
13:01I missed you, too.
13:03Wow.
13:03Let's go sit down and catch up.
13:05I missed you!
13:06I miss you, too.
13:07How's my girls?
13:08How's Adira?
13:09Adira's good.
13:10You know what?
13:11She's building her immune system.
13:13Because I'm gonna stop saying that she's sick.
13:16So she's building her...
13:17She's growing.
13:18She's growing.
13:19She's getting stronger.
13:20I've been up for the past four nights.
13:22Haven't slept.
13:24And last night was really hard.
13:25You sure don't look like you haven't slept.
13:26I'm just so grateful for, like, moments like this, you know?
13:30But we have our moments.
13:31They're down time.
13:32We have our moments.
13:32We don't get a lot of them because as entrepreneurs and as women that work all the time, we have
13:37to...
13:38We have to show up at work.
13:39We have to keep going.
13:40Either that or...
13:41We're done.
13:42Take the top off.
13:45We're not ready to take it.
13:47We're not ready for that.
13:47We're not ready to throw in the towel at you.
13:48We still go.
13:49When I think about how proud I am of you and everything you've done for so many years.
13:53It's like 20 years now.
13:55No, it's got to be more than 20 years.
13:57We grew up together in a way.
13:57No, no, no.
13:57Because think about it.
13:58Amber was nine years old the day that you and I met at Al's house and Michael Jackson
14:04was there.
14:05Took your pants.
14:08That was crazy.
14:08He said, Lauren, I like your pants.
14:12And then he said, could I try them on?
14:13And Jer was like...
14:14And you were like, let him try them on.
14:15I'm like, take the pants off.
14:20And you didn't even know me.
14:21I was like, what are you talking about?
14:22Take those pants off.
14:24You look at me like, take them pants off right now.
14:26And he gave me his and I wore them out and he took my pants.
14:2920 years ago.
14:3020, it was 22 years ago.
14:3222 years ago.
14:33That's how long we've been friends.
14:35And now our kids are best friends.
14:38Besties.
14:38Isn't that the best though?
14:39Like Taylor Swift concerts together?
14:41No, when they did the pictures of the Taylor Swift, I couldn't take it.
14:45I was in love.
14:46Babe, neither.
14:46Because I wasn't sure who was more excited, her or me.
14:48First off, according to Amber, you were the Swiftie.
14:51And I was like, who has more bracelets?
14:53I couldn't tell you or Olympia.
14:55I got mad that I didn't trade more because the security was like, stay away.
14:58And I'm like, I want those bracelets.
15:01You know, I think there's several different types of friends.
15:04There's a friend that's always there for you.
15:06And then there's a friend that holds you up when you need them the most.
15:08And I'll admit, I'm not the kind of person that's there every day.
15:12The cost of winning 23 grand slams were like, I didn't get to keep as many friends.
15:18Um, but I'm the kind of friend that definitely shows up when you need me.
15:24So what else is going on?
15:25I'm so proud of you doing everything with Wynn.
15:28Now it exists and I'm super excited about it.
15:30How has it been building the team and everything? Great?
15:32I really had to take a hard pivot.
15:34I was like, listen guys, I love your guys' vision for the company, but this isn't working.
15:40And so it was really hard, but we had to let a few people go.
15:42And it's like, how do you still manage to be strong and beautiful at the same time?
15:47Sometimes the pivot, it's a pain in the butt, but it's necessary.
15:50It's necessary and it's nothing bad.
15:52It's just like, I want people to really get my vision.
15:55You've always made us raise our level of fashion and beauty.
15:59Stop! You're crazy.
16:00It's true, which I love.
16:01Like I think about every year we celebrate all the events of Miami.
16:05I remember like every time J.R. and I would watch you, he goes, I'm watching for the game.
16:09I said, I am too. He goes, no, but you're also watching to see what she wears.
16:12J.R. was really always into the game. How are you feeling?
16:17You know, you were there for me at the times when J.R. first passed away.
16:20You were here on the boat with me that two weeks after walking me through.
16:24I don't think I ever saw you without him until, you know, it happened.
16:28You didn't.
16:29My husband J.R. Ridinger passed away just two years ago.
16:33Right when J.R. died, Serena wrote me, she called me every day.
16:39I needed that. I needed that type of friend.
16:43Serena's got one of the biggest hearts in the world.
16:45I think, you know, I wanted to have joyful moments, not quite yet.
16:51I'm working on laughing some again. I'm working on, I laugh when I'm with you.
16:55Yeah.
16:56You are running this massive company, Market America.
17:00You're showing up, you're doing it, and they need to see you.
17:02They want to see you, and...
17:04Next week I go to a convention in North Carolina.
17:07Oh, okay.
17:07And that's like, I want to do it because it makes me feel better.
17:10In a way it's easier to deal with grief.
17:12It's easier for me to do.
17:13It's like, at some point...
17:15Couple weeks.
17:16Just a couple weeks. It's been a long...
17:18Mm-hmm.
17:19Death is horrible, and tragedy is horrible, but at some point, as humans, we all deal with it on some
17:25level.
17:26When it happens to you, and it's someone that's so close to you, it's like the wind being knocked out
17:33of you.
17:34When my sister passed, I definitely went in denial.
17:37I was like, this isn't real.
17:38I put my foot in front of the necks, and I kept stepping, and that's how I feel Lauren is
17:44doing.
17:44And I keep telling her to give yourself grace.
17:48Honestly, it sucks.
17:49There's just no way around it.
17:50But I think all your friends, we all know that, and we all don't expect you to just show up
17:57and suddenly be overly joy.
18:00Like, we don't. We just want you to be you, and be in the moment that you're in, and just
18:05embrace that, and we're gonna support that.
18:07And I know I'm gonna support that.
18:08I love you.
18:10When you're in a certain position, especially in business, and especially as a woman, it's very difficult to show emotion.
18:17And my heart breaks for her, because I know she hasn't grieved.
18:22And it's sad. It's really sad.
18:27I love you so much.
18:29I love you so much.
18:35Can we ride in?
18:40Right now, right now.
18:42Hi.
18:44How are you?
18:45Good. How are you? How are you guys?
18:46Good.
18:48Aw, Goldie.
18:48I think you're gonna be with everyone. I know.
18:51They're all here.
18:52Thank you for inviting me.
18:54Of course.
18:55Appreciate you.
18:56I'm excited for you to be there with me.
18:57Yeah. Do you have something in mind?
18:59Based off our conversation, I feel like I have some ideas.
19:02Okay. But I want to see.
19:03Okay, cool. Oh, my days.
19:06Yes, this is the prototype.
19:08Wow.
19:09Yeah, I'm excited to show you.
19:11We did, like, the top, too.
19:12Wow. That comes off.
19:14Wait, what the heck? Is this a magnet?
19:17It's a magnet, yeah. Shut up.
19:18It's literally in the, um, the corset.
19:21Oh, my...
19:23That is so cool. I know.
19:25You're so innovative, darling.
19:27It's so much about the designer
19:28and who you're wearing at the CFDAs.
19:30And I love being able to support new talent in fashion
19:34in the ways that I wish I was supported
19:38when I was emerging.
19:40These are kind of our options.
19:42This is a lot of the new stuff,
19:44and then this is some older stuff
19:46that it could still be good.
19:48Like, the green, I know you liked.
19:50Growing up, I didn't think about being a model.
19:52It's not that I didn't want to be,
19:54but it was never a thought.
19:56I started getting bullied a lot,
19:57and I didn't have any friends at school.
20:00I was kind of by myself,
20:01and I also was really different.
20:03If I allowed the nose to hold me back,
20:07that doesn't further my mission
20:10of having inclusivity in the industry.
20:14This look with that skirt.
20:17Um, and then I have a couple other options.
20:21I love this. I want to try this.
20:23Okay. Yeah, let's just try it.
20:24Mm-hmm. We can try that.
20:26Um...
20:26So let's do it. Let's get changed.
20:29Yeah.
20:31This is good.
20:33This is good.
20:33It fits you perfectly.
20:34I really like this.
20:36I don't even want you to try anything else on.
20:38I have a skin condition called Viniligo,
20:41and it is one of the most visible parts about me,
20:46and no one had really seen a model that looked like me
20:49on billboards before, magazine covers before.
20:53That representation was really needed and really important.
20:56Just a really clean dress up.
20:58I mean, this is so cool.
21:00I know.
21:00This looks cool.
21:02If you turn around, like, there's these little things, too.
21:05I love it.
21:06Crystal, it's really pretty.
21:07It looks like the scrunch of the dress.
21:09Yeah, it's like the same kind of technique.
21:11Mm-hmm.
21:12Cute. Okay.
21:13Should we try other stuff?
21:15Yes, please.
21:17Okay.
21:17I can see, like, rainbow in the sheen.
21:20Yeah, it's, like, a little iridescent.
21:22Yeah.
21:22This, like, drapes nicely,
21:24and I think this will lay really flat once we have it.
21:28But wait, I haven't showed you our new glass bags.
21:31It's so cute.
21:32Do you know what? Oh, my gosh, I just thought about this.
21:34I could put my K-skin lip balm.
21:35Wait, that would be cute.
21:36That would be so cute, right?
21:37No, let's do that.
21:38Yes.
21:38I created K-skin because a lot of areas of my skin
21:42don't have melanin,
21:43which means I'm completely not protected
21:45from the sun in those areas.
21:47One shoot in particular, I was shooting in the Bahamas.
21:49I was asked not to reapply SPF to my skin
21:53because it didn't look good.
21:55I burnt to a crisp.
21:58I had to get injections for pain,
22:01injections for inflammation,
22:02so I created K-skin for everyone under the sun to have SPF that works for them.
22:09This opens up a little bit more.
22:11Yeah.
22:12Yes.
22:13Yeah.
22:14That was what I was envisioning.
22:15Yes, me too.
22:17Creating K-skin, it was natural for me because it was solving an issue that I had personally,
22:22and that is something that has to do with inclusivity and making sure that there's SPF for all skin tones
22:30so that you didn't have to sacrifice health for beauty.
22:33Gorgeous.
22:34I love that.
22:35It looks great.
22:36Princess dreams.
22:38But Cinderella's not going to lose her shoe.
22:39Secure in the tights, but she has a glass bag.
22:42Modern day.
22:44Modern day Cinderella.
22:45What's new? What's next?
22:46Yeah.
22:47Being a new entrepreneur, there's so many things that you're going to learn,
22:50and success is not a linear path.
22:52But I was one of only about a hundred Black females
22:57who have raised over a million dollars in venture capital funding,
23:02and I'm proud to be a part of that change.
23:04I always go back to that little girl who never felt seen,
23:09and it really drives me in everything I do in life,
23:14and I feel so fortunate to be able to have these experiences
23:18and to shine a light on inclusivity in everything that I do.
23:22Yeah, I'm excited.
23:23Thank you so much. You've made my dreams come true.
23:25The CMTA dress is locked and loaded.
23:27We're taking over the world.
23:31Better stop us even if you try.
23:35We're taking over the world.
23:37No, no, no, let me do that.
23:40They don't mind.
23:41We need to be ready to go.
23:43Would you ladies like to be my audience?
23:45I say that it fits, and it's actually going to be big on you.
23:49All right, this has zero stretch.
23:51Zero stretch.
23:52Maybe not made for us.
23:53You do have a booty stretch.
23:54Yeah.
23:55Oh, really?
23:56Will it or will it not fit?
23:59Da-da-da-da.
24:00Da-da-da-da.
24:03All right, here we go.
24:04Uh-oh.
24:05Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh.
24:08Uh-oh.
24:09Uh-oh, uh-oh.
24:12I told you.
24:13They didn't make this as thick.
24:15They don't move.
24:15They're still tight.
24:17Does it fit, or am I being hard on myself?
24:19No, look at it.
24:19Bend down. Drop it like it's hot.
24:21I'm like a...
24:23I'm like a Laffy Taffy
24:24or a Skittle away from it not fit.
24:26Oh, my God.
24:27What is it?
24:28It fits.
24:29Give yourself credit for what's in the box.
24:31You're right.
24:31I need to give myself credit.
24:33Yeah.
24:33It only took a year.
24:35I love it.
24:36So when we first launched Win Beauty,
24:38we kind of launched a beauty brand,
24:41but I really wanted to just kind of readjust
24:46how we were represented because we're an active beauty.
24:51We really wanted to get concealer content
24:53because it's really trending and it's doing well for the brand.
24:56I always wanted to launch an active beauty line.
24:59Beauty was always a part of my life.
25:00As a kid, I was always doing my nails.
25:03I was this crazy athlete, but at the same time,
25:05I was the beauty queen.
25:06I played in tons of makeup
25:08when no one was as an athlete back then.
25:12So today, we are going to be doing the TikToks.
25:16We're starting with the transition video,
25:18and then we're gonna go into application.
25:20So the videos that we shot last time
25:22have been the top performing for us.
25:24Oh, yay.
25:24Yes.
25:25So people just like to hear you applying
25:28and talking about the product.
25:29When kind of started for me in the locker room,
25:33I just used to always make my own thing.
25:34I used to have my sun cream.
25:36I used to take my foundation.
25:37I would mix it together.
25:39And I was like, how is this not on the market?
25:42I just feel so much pressure suddenly.
25:47Is it the 20 people who are here?
25:48Yeah, because I'm usually like on my own.
25:51The stress.
25:53When I used to think of active beauty,
25:55I thought, oh, it's sport.
25:56No, sport is sport.
25:57It's like sport beauty.
25:59Who's this active?
26:00We all are active women.
26:02I don't know about you, but I don't have time
26:04to just go back and just reapply.
26:06I need it to last.
26:07I need it to look.
26:08I need it to be active with me all day,
26:10where you can play in it, you can live in it,
26:12you can work in it.
26:13We are every day.
26:14We are for that 98% of women
26:16that are just living their lives.
26:18You can be active, and you can be beautiful
26:20at the same time.
26:21Tyne, can I get that Laffy Taffy
26:22to calm my nerves?
26:23Oh, yes.
26:23Is that a double chin?
26:27What is that?
26:28It's this Laffy Taffy.
26:30All right, well, let's go.
26:32Quiet on set, please.
26:34Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
26:37All right, we're rolling.
26:38Yeah.
26:39We have created literally the best,
26:41game-changing, self-setting concealer.
26:44And you've probably seen some of those videos
26:45where I only have three or four minutes to do my makeup.
26:49And I don't have time to set, because I just got to go.
26:52The only time I had to set was when I was winning the set
26:55and game, set, match, you get me?
26:57That is so corny.
26:58OK, I've got to relax.
27:01This isn't Wimbledon.
27:02Being literally one of the five Black people
27:05that were playing tennis, you get a lot of negative stuff
27:08and you get a lot of hate.
27:09That can make you feel really bad.
27:11And it was tough, you know?
27:13Like, none of us look the same.
27:14None of us are the same.
27:16But all of us want to feel the same.
27:20I would love for Wimbledon Beauty to change people's lives
27:23and change how they think about beauty.
27:25I just go a little bit, a little dab of do you,
27:27and each of the corners, so, so smooth, so light.
27:31I literally didn't put that much on.
27:33You can just see the difference.
27:34Now that is light and chic.
27:38I might not conquer the way I am able
27:41and was able to conquer tennis,
27:43but I see the unknown as a challenge,
27:45as a challenge that I'm up for.
27:47Every single day, I have to go out there
27:48and understand that I'm going to be the best that I can be.
27:51Yay! See you, don't want to be you.
27:53After a while, we're going to, okay, break.
27:55Here we go.
27:57Hello, let's go, Mr. Sun.
27:59Keep shining on me.
28:08It's technically, we got to make sure we perform sound,
28:12picture, quality.
28:13You and I have to be on time in the morning,
28:16because everything affects that closing performance.
28:19If we're 15 minutes late, that all comes back to me.
28:23I don't want us to be late.
28:24You know, our team is like a very close family.
28:28Christian's the vice president of Market America.
28:31He was somebody who had worked with JR
28:32for 16 years side by side.
28:34When JR died, he really jumped in where I needed him.
28:38He became a true brother to me,
28:41somebody who understood JR, but didn't wait,
28:44didn't ask me, hey, can I help you, just dove in.
28:46This is the video for the opening of the show.
28:50It's time for you to counter the torch.
28:52We do have a way to determine our destiny.
28:56It's the people that stay on board.
28:59They're not afraid.
29:00I have so much anxiety about it being perfect.
29:03That's why, you know, I know every detail of him for 36 years.
29:09The conventions are the belief of our business.
29:12People are these independent entrepreneurs.
29:15Market America gives them a business in a box,
29:17and it allows people to start an online business instantly
29:22with everything they could possibly need,
29:24including a blueprint for success,
29:26and gets them making money right away
29:28as soon as they start selling products.
29:30This convention is one of the biggest that we've had
29:33since we've lost JR,
29:35and we've got the biggest need to perform.
29:37Nothing can go wrong.
29:38JR did this, like, you know, with ease.
29:41Yeah.
29:41You know, he was prepared for being the leader
29:45of a company his whole life.
29:47He was a great leader.
29:48After JR passed away, people approached me and said,
29:51hey, you know, people want to know
29:52if you're going to keep the company, sell the company,
29:55and it was a whisper going on for some time.
29:58I will say you've always delivered.
30:00You always show up.
30:01As much as you doubt yourself internally,
30:03like, none of us doubt you.
30:05Well, you got to understand, it's not even about
30:06if I can deliver a good presentation or a good speech.
30:10It's about the whole big picture.
30:11Yeah.
30:12And for me, I want to make him proud more than anybody,
30:15and I want them to be proud.
30:17I want the feel to say, okay, you know, she's our leader.
30:21We're going to do this.
30:22Mm-hmm.
30:23And there's big shoes to fill.
30:25Even though I've been building this business side by side
30:28with JR for 30 years, you know,
30:30I didn't know he would want me to step in and be CEO,
30:33but that's what he wrote, and that's what I'm doing.
30:35I didn't expect this.
30:36I didn't want the title of CEO.
30:39Not this way.
30:41Uh, I, I, and I don't know that I ever wanted it, you know?
30:44But now, it doesn't matter.
30:46This is one of the most important moments
30:49in our company's history.
30:50This is a major presentation I have to deliver.
30:53The awesome responsibility of being the leader,
30:56to fill JR's shoes.
30:57You know, I will never be able to fill JR's shoes,
31:00but I can give people the very best version of me.
31:04We have to prove to them that we are not just going to survive,
31:09but we're going to thrive.
31:10That's what we have to do.
31:11That's our job to do that.
31:21Just living with me or sitting,
31:23and I'm on the way to deliver some stuff from William.
31:28I'm so excited to see FDA tonight.
31:30Hello, New York.
31:32We are, we are forever.
31:35We find our strength in numbers.
31:40Racing through it all.
31:42Hello.
31:44Hey.
31:45Hey.
31:46Hey.
31:46Hey.
31:47I'm so happy you've made it in time.
31:48I know, it's crazy, but you know what, it always works out.
31:52I'm excited for Isabella to have to rate me in her beautiful jewels.
31:57She deserves recognition for the hard work
31:59that she's put into this incredible business of hers,
32:03and this is what's going to complete
32:05the Princess Cinderella look and dream for the night.
32:10Let me see your makeup.
32:11Okay, my bad, light or not.
32:13I'm so excited to see the dress.
32:16Okay.
32:17Oh, wait, you designed it?
32:19Yes.
32:21Wait, you didn't get, like, a whole, like, a memo, guys.
32:25How about just introduce me properly?
32:28This is Kate.
32:29I'm sorry, Isabella.
32:31Nice to meet you.
32:31I don't, you look so pretty.
32:34Oh, my God.
32:35Oh, der.
32:36Today.
32:37Okay, I brought all your stuff.
32:39But I think this one is still going to be sunny, Anna.
32:42You're going to, right?
32:43Yeah.
32:43Let's go get ready.
32:45Before makeup artist, I'm going to give him, like, 30 minutes.
32:48I felt so much pride to have Winnie wearing a piece
32:52that I created myself.
32:54There's going to be a lot of amazing designers around.
32:57There's a lot of amazing people around,
32:58and I want to grow the brand.
33:00I want to make it more available for clients.
33:02So it's a great opportunity to present my designs
33:06Oh, your designs are insane, babes.
33:09Thank you, Anna.
33:10You really did that.
33:12I'm so proud of you.
33:13I'll text you when I'm ready.
33:15Yay!
33:17See you soon.
33:18I can't wait to see you with a full look.
33:20And I can't wait to see you with your full look.
33:22I'm so excited.
33:23Bye.
33:24Bye.
33:34Oh, my God.
33:35I can't wait to see you with your camera flashing.
33:45Here you go.
33:47Just walk out.
33:48I get very nervous when I have to be on a spotlight like that.
33:52I grew up so shy, and I feel like,
33:56do I meant to be here?
33:58Should I be here?
34:00There's a lot of amazing designers and people that are doing amazing things on the fashion industry.
34:05Just being around all these people, I'm a little scared of them.
34:13I don't really know what to do or what to say.
34:16Should I go really fast?
34:17Should I just stop for one picture and keep going?
34:20What if my makeup doesn't look right?
34:22Or if my hair is not good, like, I'm the showcase for a piece that I created myself.
34:28So imagine all different shapes.
34:31I put so much thought into it.
34:33I went through the stones to see what would lay better.
34:36Whoo!
34:37I want to impress them.
34:45Hi.
34:46Hi.
34:57Hi.
34:57Hi.
35:00Hi.
35:00You have to run into your section.
35:05I'm very relieved.
35:07Everything went smooth that I went through all the pictures and everything else.
35:12And it feels great to get great compliments on my necklace.
35:16They're very impressed that I actually made it.
35:18And I'm just so, like, proud of myself.
35:21I did it.
35:23Hi, H.
35:25Whoo!
35:27Look at this.
35:28Yeah.
35:30I'm 10.
35:31Guys, this is Isabella.
35:32This is Isabella's jewelry.
35:34Oh, I know.
35:35The CFDA event, it made me inspired to do more.
35:39Like, I can be around them.
35:40I am a designer.
35:42I just have to keep going and work hard to have that recognition.
35:47I made this one for here.
35:48I'm obsessed.
35:50You said to lose it.
35:50You said to go!
35:52Yes.
35:53You said to go.
36:02Well, we're here.
36:04It's always hard to be here, even though I love this house so much.
36:08You know.
36:09I know, I can imagine.
36:10This convention that I'm going to,
36:13I've got to have my mind clear.
36:15And so I'm gonna take some time in Connecticut
36:17and shut up the rest of the world
36:18so I can focus on what I'm gonna say,
36:20what I'm going to do.
36:21Still just so peaceful here.
36:24The most peaceful.
36:25Let's go see if I got any vegetables at all here.
36:28I doubt it.
36:29I haven't been here to take care of it, but maybe.
36:32This house is the place that Jare and I spent our summers.
36:34It was Jare and Lauren's house.
36:36It was Lauren and Jare's house.
36:37We bought it for my birthday.
36:38All I visualized was my kids growing up
36:41and having a beautiful backyard and watching them run.
36:45I said, I don't see any apples, do you?
36:48No.
36:48I haven't seen the apples since he died.
36:52There's this, one of the final photos I have of us
36:55is Jare sitting on that top step right there.
36:58Yes.
36:59And Ava and Aiden were sitting below
37:02and they were both playing Barbies.
37:04It was a beautiful photo.
37:06It's a lot.
37:07It was a lot to take in.
37:10You know, I think the first year of my grief,
37:13I didn't really face the fact that I lost Jare.
37:16I just pretended he was still there and, you know,
37:20I had to keep going.
37:21And I had to become this person without a whole lot of notice.
37:24I shouldn't bring his ashes home.
37:26This is the most beautiful urn.
37:28I never saw it in person.
37:30I just tried to keep everything here, you know?
37:32You know, I never visualized doing this business without Jare.
37:36I always visualized that Jare and I, at some point in our life,
37:40would ride off in the sunset together and enjoy the fruits of our labor,
37:42and that didn't get to happen.
37:44He would ask to go away and I'd say,
37:46I can't right now.
37:47I'm busy or I'm doing this event for us.
37:49And it takes a lot of planning, you know?
37:52I didn't know if we had an expiration.
37:54I just thought about so many times,
37:57like, what could I do to keep everything the way I remember it all?
38:06All of it's so much harder than people understand,
38:09and I don't talk about it.
38:11Just store it away, you know?
38:15Try to be tough for everybody.
38:17Try to be strong.
38:18Try to perform.
38:19Try to do the business.
38:19Try to do everything because you just have a moment
38:22and you can't survive it.
38:30I can use more tissue.
38:32This sucks.
38:34It was just cut too short.
38:35Really unfair.
38:37My top leaders used to tell me right after J.R. died,
38:41no weakness, don't let them see any weakness.
38:43A lot of that lives inside of me.
38:45Everybody's like, you're so tough, you're so tough,
38:47but what they don't see is you falling apart.
38:49Behind the scenes, what they don't see is the pressure it takes to do this,
38:53and you miss your partner at the same time.
38:56I'm mad that I have to do this on my own.
38:58I'm really angry that I don't get to do what we planned.
39:02That he wanted to do.
39:04I'm mad about that.
39:06I just have to convince myself to stop thinking about it right now because it's too hard.
39:10When I think about it, it's just, you know what it does, it sets me back.
39:14This event is so critical, so important, it's such a pivoting moment.
39:20We spent 32 years building this incredible company, an incredible community of people who believed in us,
39:26and I'm afraid none of that will matter because people are looking at you differently.
39:31They can see you bleeding, they see your wounds.
39:34It's a vulnerable place to live.
39:36And even though I constantly hear care in my head saying, you can do this, you can do it and
39:41you must do it,
39:43I don't know if I can.
39:51So many friends of mine are evolving into something even bigger, not resting on your laurels.
39:58This is a big moment.
40:00I'm trying to juggle it all and stay true to myself and my purpose, but right now I feel very
40:06alone on this journey.
40:09My story is a lot more than my story.
40:12Thousands of people are counting on me.
40:14I've always shut out the noise, but I definitely put a lot of pressure on myself.
40:17I think that's everyone's question when they're building a brand, how do you keep the halo?
40:20I feel like I'm always one step forward and two steps back.
40:23How can I be a better mom? How can I be a better friend?
40:26Nobody wants to fail.
40:27I really love living somewhere where I can work, and now I have to travel.
40:32It's a whole production every single time.
40:34Kyle and I are ships in the night, even living together.
40:37There's guilt and grief, there's anger and grief.
40:40It's impossible to put on a good face because you are going through a nightmare.
40:47I get why people start to date because it is lonely.
40:50I've got to have you and my friends, and I just keep filling my cup with other things.
40:54We're all going to have a great next chapter.
40:57Just always move forward.
41:01It's never too late to have a passion to work towards.
41:05Hopefully, I'm building a legacy for the next 50 years.
41:07This is generational wealth, babe. You're doing it.
41:09Exactly.
41:10I just want people to look at me and be like, wow, this girl is a jewelry girl.
41:14For me, it's how do we elevate each other? How do we make each other feel good?
41:18It's not about the work, and it's not about the business sometimes.
41:20It's about the love, the connection, and the relationship.
41:24I needed to feel confident again. I needed to rebuild myself again.
41:28I put my superhero, Kate, back on.
41:31Try and stop me.
41:32Nothing can stop us now.
41:36Do you have a play setting every time you eat?
41:39Um...
41:43Stop. You. Less.
41:58I want someone to sing.
42:12I'm a warrior.
42:16Ooh.
42:18Yeah.
42:18Yeah.
42:20Yeah.
42:21Yeah.
42:23Oh.
42:25I am a warrior.
42:29Ooh.
42:31Yeah.
42:32Yeah.
42:33I am a warrior.
