00:00Blaze has completely ghosted me.
00:03No, he hasn't.
00:03Yes.
00:04I'm raising a $40 million venture fund,
00:07and Blaze, we just did not hear back from him.
00:10The deadline is in a month, so the clock is ticking.
00:13We've got about $2 million left that we need to get.
00:16Getting more is super important.
00:17Right now, I don't want to invest in a fund.
00:19If we cannot get to our deadline,
00:21I close the fund and we fail.
00:25Wow, nothing has been done.
00:27I gotta call Amber.
00:28Hi.
00:28He did nothing.
00:30Not even the staircase outside is done.
00:32I feel definitely taken advantage of.
00:35How do you not get a whole crew in there to build?
00:37Looks like it's abandoned.
00:39It's a very heartbreaking moment.
00:42We have a disaster zone on our hands.
00:45Just sucks.
00:47I will give you fire.
00:54I will give you fire.
00:59We're blessed.
01:01We're blessed.
01:04We're blessed.
01:07We're blessed.
01:08We're blessed.
01:09We're blessed.
01:09Oh, gosh.
01:10We're blessed.
01:11Sorry I'm late, guys.
01:13No problem.
01:14Hi, Gary.
01:15Hey.
01:15Hi, Lauren.
01:16Great to see you, Jerry.
01:17Nice to meet you.
01:18Pleasure.
01:18Nice to meet you, too.
01:19Amber and I came to Miami for the launch of Motives at the guest house.
01:24My house is under construction right next door.
01:27Right now, it's in shambles.
01:28And it's a disaster zone.
01:30We have a lot of houses, but Miami is our main place.
01:32And now I have decided to find a new builder and hope I can find somebody who will really
01:37move forward with this.
01:39So I just wanted to talk about getting everybody together because I don't know where the end
01:43is in sight.
01:44I already know I'm going to have to pay a premium to get this done.
01:48We know that.
01:49I've got to put my full focus on turning this around and getting back home again.
01:54I'm so happy that we are having this meeting.
01:57We're excited.
01:57I can't tell you how.
01:59Obviously, walking home into this was so disappointing because five months, nothing happened.
02:04But I want to just move past all that and try to, like, see the bright future ahead
02:10because this could be the most, it should be the most beautiful house in Miami.
02:13It was before we started.
02:15You know, my husband died two years ago, so it's really important for me.
02:18This was the house we lived in for 25 years.
02:21We have three grandchildren and a beautiful daughter.
02:24And his dream was to see this house be passed on to those children one day who have done
02:29every Easter egg hunt since they've been born at this house.
02:32I want to see through his dream.
02:34I need to make this project perfect for him.
02:37That's what we want.
02:38We want to help you with this legacy project.
02:40We want this to be a great experience, this positivity going forward.
02:44And we want you to be involved.
02:45One of the things that we like to do also is we just don't follow the drawings.
02:49I want to walk with you.
02:50Me too.
02:51The rooms.
02:51By the way, I'll just tell you about where we're sitting.
02:54This is the place that J.R. and I sat every day.
02:57This is where our kids jump on the sofas.
03:00Right.
03:00And they live their life.
03:01And everybody shouldn't eat in here, but they do.
03:04Right, right.
03:04And this is where I visualize like a beautiful, round, curved sofa with a table that I can
03:10play poker and beat Christian and take Mary's money.
03:13You know, J.R. used to say, Lauren, it's not about you and I.
03:16Our kids will never be able to afford something like this one day.
03:19Let's make sure we preserve this forever.
03:22This is where he visualized having big dinner parties.
03:25Okay.
03:25I'm going to still do big dinner parties here or big events with the family.
03:30So I think building a table is going to be the best way to go.
03:34Yes.
03:35His goal was to add bigger spaces.
03:37He wanted me to have this gorgeous closet.
03:39He used to say, you deserve the biggest, the best closet.
03:42He wanted to put a soccer pitch.
03:43He wanted to do everything that would feel like a real compound, a home that had children
03:49in it, laughing and having fun and where we could work together.
03:53I remember this room, of course, is, nobody has this.
03:58Nobody has this.
03:59I see making this a room we can actually use as a family.
04:03I don't want to walk by this room and not use it anymore.
04:05You don't want this to be a museum.
04:07Exactly.
04:09This builder has given me enough confidence to believe they can get it done.
04:13I think seeing this through, being able to move in, will mark a turning point in my new journey.
04:20The last two years have been filled with a lot of doubt.
04:24I'm in the process of figuring Lauren out.
04:27I don't know this new girl.
04:28I'm discovering her.
04:30Do I miss the old Lauren all the time?
04:32I miss my old life with my husband.
04:34And my kids have grown up.
04:35And my daughter's grown up.
04:37And they all have their life.
04:38And you're so happy for them to have your life, so where do I fit in?
04:41It really comes down to me.
04:44This makes this official.
04:45Now we just need a contract, and I send you some money.
04:52I won't let you down.
04:59I won't let you down.
05:02I won't let you down.
05:04Hi, mom.
05:05Mom, I need you help for the next time.
05:08Okay, bring the paper over.
05:10She just started having homework this week.
05:13This is stupid.
05:15This is what you told me to do.
05:18Where is the next sentence?
05:20Exactly.
05:21That's why I'm asking you for help.
05:22Okay.
05:23That's why I'm asking you for help.
05:25I have no idea what to do.
05:31Okay, okay, okay, okay.
05:32There is a lot happening in my life at this point.
05:35There is the brand.
05:36There's Rangel.
05:38There are the kids, my husband.
05:39Especially for the jewelry, I design every single week.
05:43I need to design five tennis necklaces with a twist to it.
05:49So, diamonds all the way around.
05:52A nice closure on the back.
05:54I have so much in my plate.
05:56Yeah, I see it.
05:57It's almost right.
05:58You just have to put a B in the end.
06:00A lamp.
06:02Okay.
06:02That's all.
06:03It's all right.
06:05But in the same time, I want to keep growing the brand.
06:08I want to keep expanding on the retailers.
06:11Clients are in the point now that they want more.
06:13And then there's more people coming to see more.
06:16I always say for jewelry, the more is more.
06:19And there's no time to be basic.
06:21So, we put the more jewelry possible.
06:25Sam is a cat.
06:27Sam is a cat.
06:29You want to write that?
06:30I think he's not.
06:31My career and what I put out in the world is very important for me
06:35because I believe I want to build a great future for my girls.
06:39It's about creating legacies.
06:42I just have to keep going and push to the limit.
06:45I had an apple.
06:49A-N.
06:50Because you can't put A-A together, you have to put an N.
07:07Okay.
07:08Okay.
07:09Yep.
07:10Okay.
07:10Mom, I have a kiwi strawberry.
07:13Oh, no.
07:14Kiwi strawberry?
07:15What is that?
07:15Well, it's electrolyte, but I just want to make sure that there's no collagen.
07:19I can't have any collagen.
07:21I know.
07:22Yeah.
07:22Because most of the collagen comes from beef.
07:24It says collagen defense.
07:27See.
07:27But it just means that it's keeping your skin hydrated and looking radiant.
07:31Okay.
07:32Well, I need to be hydrated and I'd love to look radiant.
07:37You're already radiant, Mom.
07:39Here.
07:40Maybe you like this flavor.
07:42You know, I'm really excited about what you're doing, Hannah.
07:46It's not easy.
07:47It's actually not that it's not easy.
07:49It's actually, like, really hard.
07:51My mom has always been, like, my biggest fan.
07:54You know, I definitely was super young when my parents divorced.
07:57And, you know, I think about my mom who was a single mom raising us.
08:01Like, she was an actress on Broadway.
08:03My dad traveled a lot and my mom just, like, made it work.
08:06And now she's so hands-on with our kids.
08:08I feel very lucky to have someone who is so devoted to my well-being.
08:12I missed every cocktail party or at least half of every cocktail party.
08:18Because I thought it was more important to spend time with you guys.
08:22The times have changed.
08:24And I think that the way we were taught is different.
08:31And there's no one way for everyone.
08:34Yeah, I mean, it's just, like, it's obviously such a challenging environment right now to raise capital.
08:40And so, like, meeting people in person, like, I feel like is really meaningful.
08:45That's very important.
08:45Yes.
08:46Fundraising has definitely taken a lot of my time.
08:49Early days are all about gaining momentum and getting validation from people within the industries.
08:55A lot of times I feel like I'm getting swallowed by this new endeavor.
09:00And it's very much filled with setbacks and, you know, doors that slam in your face.
09:06On the bad days it's like, is this worth it?
09:08And on the good days I still question myself sometimes.
09:11The pressure's always there.
09:13I feel like I've always had pressure.
09:15Yeah, you have.
09:16The way I grew up with pressure was definitely different from the way you grew up with pressure.
09:23I had people that, you know, didn't think that I was ever going to do anything.
09:27The doors were not fully opened yet.
09:29Mm-hmm.
09:30I got a lot of who does she think she is.
09:32And that definitely feels, like, same with moving into venture capital.
09:39People look past us very often or look over us very often.
09:44I feel that, like, whether it's society or even, like, in the family.
09:49Growing up was weird.
09:50I definitely always felt like I was trying to participate within a community.
09:54You know, I was the only black girl in my class.
09:58I feel like people always tried to put me in a box and I felt like I never really fit
10:01in.
10:02I felt like people doubted my abilities and so now it feels like a different circumstance but a very familiar
10:09place in my, like, nervous system that I used to spend a lot of time in.
10:14You know, with grandpa and dad being, like, such prominent, like, business people and having that expectation of, like, not
10:26only living up to those expectations but then also, like, changing the narrative.
10:30Like, I'm a different looking Bronfman.
10:33I'm a female Bronfman.
10:34Like, everything I do is, like, public under a microscope.
10:39It took a minute for me to understand that, marrying into a family.
10:45And it's not easy.
10:47I actually, like, I've tried to really understand, like, what would this look like if this was a failure?
10:53If we don't raise the amount that we've set out to raise, this feels like something that is semi out
10:59of my control but also, like, how do you, like, just change the narrative around a failure to be, like,
11:06a learning lesson in a stepping stool?
11:08It's like if you don't have a test, then you can't have a testimony.
11:12You know, if you don't fail, then how can you understand what growth is?
11:19You know, we don't have all of the answers.
11:21Feel the fear and do it anyway.
11:24Yeah.
11:25For yourself.
11:26Growing up, you know, my mother would always tell me that I'm, like, not gonna fit into someone else's box
11:31that they have and, like, stay true to myself and my purpose.
11:34I'm realizing that you just have to, like, lean in and believe.
11:38You have worked hard.
11:40Give yourself some grace for what you've done and what you've accomplished.
11:46I'm definitely trying to make a name for myself.
11:49I understand that the expectations I put on myself, that's super not helpful, but, like, the amount of energy and
11:57time that I'm putting into this, I really, really want this to make a great imprint on the world with
12:03the work that I am doing and for it not to just be, like, in vain.
12:08I'm here for you.
12:10I love you.
12:11I love you, too.
12:13I'm so proud of you.
12:14Okay?
12:15You're doing great.
12:16You know, just stay the course.
12:33Today's Friday, can you believe?
12:35Uh, is it 5 o'clock yet?
12:37No.
12:38And not ending day.
12:39Okay.
12:41So, um, I'm just gonna go over looking for, um, next fall.
12:46Mm-hmm.
12:46You've showed spring to the retailers.
12:49I want to talk about, uh, when everything is arriving, which it should be arriving so that we can send
12:56them to the influencers.
12:58Mm-hmm.
12:58Mm-hmm.
12:59Things like that.
12:59The situation with my shoe license, I, I, you know, stuff happens.
13:05What can you say?
13:07What are you gonna do with the inventory?
13:09I'm, we're canceling all the orders for spring.
13:11I, I don't really see it as a failure.
13:13I see it as an opportunity to do something else, to do something better, to learn something new.
13:20So, in a way, it may have been a blessing in disguise.
13:23Now, um, I'm putting my focus on my own apparel line.
13:28I've partnered with a conglomerate called One Jeans Group.
13:32We'll be going into Macy's and Nordstrom.
13:36I'm trying to make comfortable, everyday clothing that make women feel confident.
13:44And I call it casual elegance.
13:47How are you?
13:47Nice to see you. How's everything?
13:48Great.
13:49Everything's great. How are you doing?
13:52Today, we're meeting with the team.
13:54We're gonna go over mood boards and just the overall concept of the line.
13:58And trying to put together the final collection for fall, spring, and summer.
14:04Looks good.
14:07Well, the mannequins are the way that you set it up last time and you styled it.
14:11You know what it is? The line is merchandised much better than it was, thanks to your help.
14:15So, uh, it just looks much more focused.
14:18Summer, we're, uh, going to review with you next week.
14:21Okay.
14:22Right. And then, simultaneously, we have to work on fall.
14:25Because I have to, like, coordinate the social media.
14:27We're working on the gift boxes now for the sweaters.
14:30Also, we're working with some other key retailers as well.
14:32So, I want to make sure that we start off this fall in a nice way with multiple retailers.
14:36Okay.
14:37I mean, listen, business is, is very challenging right now.
14:40Yeah.
14:40But I must tell you, the customer's looking for newness.
14:43The retailers are looking for newness.
14:44So, we believe that this is an opportunistic time for, uh, for this brand.
14:49There's always pressure about timing.
14:52You're working the year before for the following season year.
14:57So, I'm a little bit worried about launching the line as we are a little bit behind schedule
15:04and launching a little late for fall.
15:07You want to be in the stores early because you have a longer selling time.
15:12The proof is always in the pudding, meaning it's always in the sales.
15:17It's all about sales.
15:18So, it can make or break a brand.
15:22All right.
15:23So, where do we start?
15:25Yeah.
15:25We could start with the, uh, fall concept boards.
15:29We, we heard your feedback.
15:31So, we're going back to the drawing boards, uh, with some of the prints.
15:34Yeah.
15:35And then we could talk about the colors.
15:37So, military and uniformity is still a big trend.
15:41And done in elegant and dressy, effortless way.
15:44I love, you know, I love to see like a mustard yellow.
15:48Okay.
15:48Just to pop it a little bit.
15:50Just give it something bright.
15:52Because I just think the color's looking a little bit sad.
15:55Even though it's fall and winter's coming, still I like to have like a strong color.
16:02It's not always easy when you first start working with a team.
16:08I think it takes time for them to really, um, understand what you're trying to achieve,
16:14what your aesthetic is.
16:16I'm, I'm not sure I like that combination so much.
16:18Feel like it's off.
16:20It's like...
16:21Monochromatic?
16:22Yeah.
16:22There has to be a point of view and like a, a direction or a vision.
16:26Right.
16:26Otherwise, it's just stuff.
16:27Exactly.
16:28In order to sell something, you, I, I really do think you have to genuinely like what you're
16:33selling because I think the consumer can see right through that.
16:36My job is to make it look like me or my brand or something that I would like to put
16:41out.
16:41And if it fails, if it doesn't sell, then there might not be another collection.
16:48And that might be the end of my apparel line.
16:52I want it to be through your eyes.
16:53I want it to stand out on the floor and I don't want it to just...
16:57Be there.
16:58Exactly.
16:59You know what I mean?
17:17Oh my god.
17:20You got the big man pajamas in the window.
17:24Oh my God, this place is stunning!
17:27You haven't been here.
17:28No, and I am so excited.
17:31Oh, my God.
17:32This is the piece I wore for the CFDA.
17:34I was going to say, this with that brown dress, this, I don't care if you went in naked, this
17:39was it.
17:40I was like, I wanted to do it all about the jewelry and not the dress.
17:43So you designed this whole thing.
17:44I sketched it, I picked all the stones, they're all Colombian stones, and they're amazing, beautiful.
17:51It is spectacular.
17:53Me and Laura, from day one, we clicked.
17:56I always look up to her a lot because what she built is incredible.
18:05She's a very supportive woman to me, too.
18:07Like, from day one of my brands, she purchased my jewelry.
18:11It's like, oh, what do you have new?
18:13I want to, like, support you.
18:14And sometimes I don't even know.
18:16I'm like, Lauren, do you really like this piece?
18:18Or are you just buying to be nicer?
18:21But then she wears it.
18:22I'm like, okay, so you like it.
18:24So that means you like it.
18:26Both of those would add to my stack just perfectly.
18:29What else is going on?
18:30How are the girls?
18:32They're so good.
18:33And they just need so much stimulation now that, like, I go crazy.
18:37No, because they need you.
18:38Mom, mom, mom.
18:39Mommy, mommy, mom, mom, mom, the whole day.
18:42But the thing is, I'm already so busy with the store now.
18:45I have to keep up, right?
18:46Because my clients will come in a week.
18:49And then they come by the next week, and they're like, oh, what do you have new?
18:52So it's constantly new, new, new, new.
18:55But I love it because I'm, like, connecting with people.
18:58I'm getting so inspired.
18:59And, like, there's an opportunity for me to open another store in Palm Beach.
19:04Wow.
19:04That's big.
19:05My company is growing.
19:06I have a lot of clients.
19:07I'm looking for a new retail space because it's very important for me to have, like, my jewelry accessible to
19:15people to try on, to have the experience of coming to my store.
19:19I have an amazing partner.
19:21And he said, yes, let's do it.
19:24I don't know the area so much about Palm Beach.
19:27But I think many people, they're going to come there because I think the people, they're going to love the
19:32style and what you're doing.
19:33It's nice.
19:34It's something different, you know?
19:36I'm looking at Palm Beach because it's a beautiful place.
19:40The air, the vibe, it goes very well with jewelry.
19:43I see my brand expanding a lot in America first.
19:47But in the same time, I do want to open a few places in Europe, maybe.
19:51Definitely, I see it growing globally.
19:54Babe, I am so proud of you with this.
19:57When did all this happen?
19:59You've been working nonstop.
20:00I'm just working every day.
20:01I'm designing every day.
20:03Best advice I can give you is tie a knot at the end of the rope and hang on.
20:06Right when you're ready to throw in the towel, it's all going to come together.
20:09It's like, you know.
20:09It's a challenge.
20:25There's my old apartment right there.
20:26Look at the windows.
20:27Yeah.
20:28The ones right there with all the windows.
20:29Wow.
20:29That must be a nightmare to clean these windows.
20:32They probably have a cleaner.
20:33It's all windows.
20:33It's all windows.
20:34All of it.
20:35And I remember, I was like, Jared, there's a women's, like, correctional center next door.
20:41He's like, that's great.
20:41We'll meet all types of pen pals there.
20:44I was like, come on.
20:45But I haven't, we didn't stay there anymore because, you know, we would stay on the boat.
20:48We hadn't stayed there in years.
20:49Oh, yeah.
20:50What's going on with the boat?
20:51I'm trying to get rid of it.
20:52I told her, I was like, Amber, it's a lot on me that I have to spend my days managing
20:56multiple things.
20:57I just want to spend my days figuring out where I fit in anymore.
21:01That's why I'm glad she is helping me take on more.
21:04She sees that I'm doing a lot.
21:06I really feel great about the future with Amber taking over motives.
21:11It's really taken a lot off my plate and a sense of comfort knowing that she has it.
21:16It was time.
21:17It was long overdue.
21:18Coming down to the conclusion of what I'm going to do with the Greenwich House, I'm still
21:23making final decisions, but I haven't been all summer except once.
21:28And I think when we have young children, it feels really great because you can go here
21:33and dash here and go do this.
21:35And you get to a certain place in your life, the golden chapter.
21:40The golden bachelorette chapter?
21:41Chapter four, the golden bachelorette.
21:44And I keep saying to myself, like, I want a simpler life.
21:48The thought of getting rid of Greenwich feels like I'm giving up that time of my life.
21:57Like I'm...
22:01That I lost what we had.
22:03I'm not sure if I can do this or not.
22:06I'm not sure if I'm ready yet.
22:08And, you know, I always have this philosophy in life that if you don't know what to do,
22:15do nothing.
22:21But I also am smart enough to know that it's just a house without JR in it.
22:28Look at this gorgeous place.
22:30You know, this is...
22:31I told you, this is my first place without JR ever.
22:34Oh, my gosh.
22:35So I got this little apartment.
22:37I'm happy with it.
22:38So this is little for you?
22:39This is little.
22:40I love you.
22:41You know my house in Miami.
22:42This is little.
22:43For me, it's more like the first step in the direction of trying to heal and get my own space.
22:49I'm working on this whole new life.
22:51Yes.
22:51I love you for going through it with me because, you know, this is like first space alone.
22:56Moving into the house alone without...
22:58You know, I lived there with him my whole life.
23:00Yeah.
23:01It's all hard.
23:02I swear to God, you made me cry, seriously.
23:03I know.
23:04I know it's hard.
23:05I know it's like we go through our stuff.
23:07Love having girlfriends like you.
23:09I love having you in my life.
23:10When I think about my favorite times, I've been with you so much lately.
23:15Oh, you're so sweet.
23:16What are you doing here in New York, by the way?
23:18Well, I'm meeting the One Jeans group, which is my apparel.
23:22I'm launching my Dio line.
23:26Just having a little issues because it's...
23:29We're very late to launch.
23:31A lot of growing pains.
23:34And, you know, there's only so much...
23:36I can't...
23:36You can't control everything.
23:38I can't control everything.
23:39If it was just you solely doing it, it's a different story.
23:42It would be done, by the way.
23:43We'd be finishing at the launch party right now.
23:45I would have launched two months ago, by the way.
23:47We were at the launch party already.
23:48Yeah.
23:49I'm super hands-on on everything I do.
23:52It's part of my control freak personality.
23:56You only have one chance to make a good first impression.
24:01So you want to come out on the launch with your best foot forward.
24:04If that doesn't work, you're not going to probably see yourself be doing other partnerships.
24:11Some things you can't control, and that's hard for you and I, people who are so driven.
24:15One thing I figured out, I realized my biggest crisis, and the only crisis I've ever really
24:21had is losing JR.
24:22So now I keep it all in perspective.
24:24I can't control that.
24:25I'll give it everything I can.
24:27All I can do is do the best I can with it.
24:29And that's all you can do.
24:30That's kind of where I am.
24:31I know.
24:32We'll get it done.
24:33We'll get it done.
24:33And then when we do, you and I have our birthday.
24:37I know.
24:38I have anxiety, too.
24:40It's like, I don't want to get older.
24:41It doesn't matter.
24:43I don't want to think about it.
24:43This year we're turning 45.
24:45That's it.
24:45Like every year.
24:46Yeah.
24:54This weather is so nice.
24:55I feel like I'm on vacation right now.
24:59Okay, so this is the Paramount.
25:01Yeah, here we are.
25:02Big part of Palm Beach's history.
25:05Yeah.
25:05And we're just looking to restore this retail part of it.
25:08So there's restaurants and more shopping down both of those.
25:12And then there's the breakers where we get a lot of foot traffic from as well.
25:16So there's a lot of people that walk around here.
25:18It's just like a walkable area.
25:19Yeah, exactly.
25:20That's great.
25:20So do you have any jewelry stores around here?
25:23No.
25:24So it will be the only jewelry store.
25:26In this vicinity.
25:27Yeah.
25:28Wow.
25:28Okay, let's go see the space.
25:30Okay.
25:30I'm excited.
25:32Wow, potentially store number two.
25:35Okay.
25:36So it's 477 square feet.
25:39It's a really interesting space because it has three separate rooms.
25:43Okay.
25:44This is the entrance to the street.
25:45I love this vibe because I like how it's like has different areas.
25:50Like the client first walks in the area and then the second area, it's a hangout.
25:54Okay.
25:55So we can sit with a client and take our time and create an environment for them.
25:59They sit, relax.
26:01Like there's no rush.
26:02I like the natural light.
26:02And I think that's Palm Beach life, right?
26:04So I like how this place is a place that people walk by a lot.
26:10It has great visibility.
26:11So if people are driving by, they will all see the name.
26:14And that's very important to me.
26:15If people see it, they remind themselves, oh, I should stop by.
26:20Oh, I should get this for my mom.
26:22Oh, I should get this for myself.
26:24So this would allow you to have street exposure.
26:26I like the double entrance, the light, the...
26:29Double entrance means double security.
26:31But you can leave this door closed and just the ring, one of them, you know?
26:34Like a doorbell.
26:36Yeah, doorbell.
26:36What is this little area?
26:37So that's a little closet, but that's also something that we could dress up.
26:41With the safe?
26:42Uh, you could.
26:43What was that?
26:45He's kidding.
26:45Something nearly fall on you?
26:47No.
26:48He said it's insulation.
26:50Something's gonna have bought back.
26:51Do you think it was a polar bear or something?
26:53I thought it was a scary doll coming out.
26:56I kind of thought, like, a mouse or something.
27:00There's a lot that goes into building a new store.
27:02I have to invest on the inventory, build up the place, make it look the way that I want it
27:08to look.
27:08Could I remove this wall?
27:10This went in for the previous tenant, so this could go.
27:12Oh.
27:13So it requires a lot of my attention.
27:15The important thing, we need to check for the insurance.
27:18Because I don't think the store is safe.
27:21I don't want to do something that I don't feel 100% comfortable doing, so I want to talk to
27:28Nisim about it and see if that's the right move for us.
27:31I'm going to have to get back to the office and make a lot of pieces.
27:34I know.
27:36And then...
27:36Not only are you going to film one thing.
27:38Yeah.
27:40Maybe you take one store, I'll take one store.
27:42You stay in Palm Beach, uh, uh, or, like, we'll rotate.
27:46I actually want to go shop in this little store now.
27:58I just need to, like, finish my hair and put some makeup on.
28:04Where are you going again?
28:05I have the event for Ula.
28:10I'm speaking on a panel.
28:11I have to leave here at 5 o'clock.
28:14What time is it?
28:164.36.
28:17I'm so excited to...
28:19Oh, my God.
28:21What happened?
28:21I almost just burned my face.
28:24It was really scary.
28:25When it comes to, like, fundraising, like, I actually need to kind of get myself out there in front of
28:31potential investors who are actually interested in women's health.
28:34Okay, can I have a kiss?
28:36My mom really helped me.
28:37Sometimes you just have to create the grace for yourself.
28:39And I'm not going to give up that easily on creating this.
28:44Hi!
28:45Hi!
28:45Nice to see you.
28:46Good to see you.
28:47Nice to see you, too.
28:47I was really excited to discover Ula and actually have my second child with them and go through their care
28:56service and use their midwives and their OBs.
28:59I am headed to my prenatal appointment this morning at Ula, and I'm so excited to tell you about them.
29:05And so I made a deal with them that I would showcase my experience, and it just made me want
29:12to also advocate for positive health outcomes.
29:17within the maternal health space.
29:19I do have some, like, high-tech files.
29:22Okay.
29:23Family office people that I think, like, could be a good fit.
29:26Okay, amazing.
29:27Well, I'll send you an email in the morning.
29:29Send me this stuff.
29:29Yeah.
29:30Working with Ula allows me to FaceTime with folks within the industry and tell them about what we're building.
29:37They have to be optimistic in order to make this happen.
29:41If you could take your seats, we're going to get started.
29:44Thank you so much.
29:45I am so excited to be joined by entrepreneur, activist, friend, and Ula mom, Hannah Bronfman.
29:53Welcome.
29:56What's up?
29:57Yes.
29:58What would you say the main difference was between your two birthing experiences?
30:04Was there something that happened specifically within your first pregnancy that made you want more of this personalized care?
30:11Yeah, I gave birth in a pandemic.
30:14While I did really love my OB, I just carried a lot of anxiety, not to mention the black maternal
30:20health crisis that we're dealing with currently.
30:23And I found myself literally screaming while delivering my baby saying, please don't let me become a statistic.
30:33With my second birth, I just wanted a different experience.
30:38I really wanted midwifery.
30:40This is so TMI, but my midwife, she was like, okay, you're like at five and a half centimeters.
30:47And she like manually manipulated my cervix and got me to nine centimeters dilated.
30:56I didn't tear.
30:57I mean, obviously she massaged.
30:59Like, okay, you guys get it.
31:01It was insane.
31:02My husband was like, what the hell is going on?
31:05Storytelling is powerful, right?
31:07Because it's not fake.
31:08It's not fluff.
31:09It's real experiences.
31:11It's lived experiences.
31:12It's community.
31:14And then my baby girl popped out and it was just like unbelievable.
31:18So much of what we do is based in community building.
31:22I've been able to do that through my work as an influencer.
31:25And I feel like, you know, I've really been trying to bring that to the investor side of my business.
31:31So every morning to get your blood done and you see so many different faces, so many like different cultures.
31:40And just made me think like, even if we didn't even speak to each other, like it just made me
31:45feel like I wasn't alone.
31:47I'm realizing, you know, how lucky am I that I get to live in my purpose.
31:51That's been my through line from the beginning.
31:53I invest in places that I advocate for, which is my superpower.
31:57Thank you so much for sharing so honestly.
32:00I am so, you know, proud of what I've built.
32:04Like I have to make this happen for myself.
32:06I just sent you my email.
32:07You send me yours.
32:09I'll send you affordable.
32:10You can put us all together.
32:12Yeah.
32:13I appreciate that.
32:16Woke up with a sparkle in my face.
32:19So won't you watch me now?
32:21Now I'm going for both.
32:23I feel electric from my head to my toes.
32:27I got the beat now.
32:29I'm ready to go.
32:33Hello, hello.
32:35Hi, Christy.
32:35Marvellous.
32:36How are you?
32:37Good.
32:38You recognize...
32:39I do not.
32:40I really love it.
32:41Head to toe in D.O.
32:43Hey, that could be our logo.
32:44Okay, let's go.
32:46Where are we in the development of the fall?
32:49We...
32:49Well, we worked a color palette last time.
32:52And we haven't received protos yet, but we do have CADs for you today.
32:55I'd love to look at it.
32:56I just want to make sure of the colors.
32:58I think it's really good to come into the office as much as possible to see if, you know, if
33:05everybody's on the same page.
33:07Last week, I didn't necessarily like the fall collection.
33:11So, I need to continue to work on that.
33:14So, therefore, today with the team, I want to make sure that the color stories are correct.
33:20And I want to make sure that we're good on timing on deliveries.
33:24Hopefully, they'll have translated my vision into the clothing and get it out on time for the launch.
33:32So, we basically, you know, took the palette that you put together with the team last time, and then the
33:39prints, we completely changed what you saw.
33:42So, this is all the denim, right?
33:44Yeah. So, this is the denim for August.
33:45So, we have the whole printed patchwork idea.
33:49This is off the jean that you passed us of your personal, which was really nice.
33:53Here, you can see, like, we adjusted the colors.
33:56I love this. I think this is going to sell really, really well.
33:59I think this is going to take off.
34:01Yeah. I think I love this group.
34:03I also have to talk to you guys about spring and then summer.
34:08So, I can bring in summer.
34:09In the meantime, they're going to bring down some of the fabrics to show you and the prints for this.
34:13Okay. All right.
34:14I'm working with a team of very experienced designers, but I think that there's some growing pains.
34:20So, you have to make sure everybody's on the same page and everybody knows what's going on.
34:25You know, you've got the same end goal.
34:27It's to win and to sell.
34:29But it's just so competitive in the fashion industry, and you have to catch the eye.
34:35You know, how do you do that?
34:37Like, that's the magic question.
34:40So, this is May, and then June, July is over here on the far end.
34:45This is the whole thing from May, June, and July?
34:47It is.
34:47Yep.
34:48Huh.
34:49This is summer.
34:50I'm looking for, like, the bright, happy colors.
34:53And this looks like September delivery.
34:56We do have, like, the turquoise pieces.
34:58Yeah.
34:59Do you want us to pull it?
35:00For sure.
35:01Well, these, I mean...
35:02Yeah, so these were, um...
35:03Those aren't bad.
35:04These are brighter, for sure.
35:06I think these are quite cute, these prints.
35:10Little off-the-shoulder pieces.
35:12Yeah.
35:13I mean, we could try to mix back in here, but it was just from here to here.
35:19It just took it to different...
35:21But what if you take out the yellow?
35:24Take out the yellow.
35:25Like, take out the yellow and just do the denim, the blues.
35:28The blues.
35:29Blues.
35:30I just feel like this feels, like, super fresh and summery.
35:33You guys, I really like this.
35:35Okay.
35:35You know what else I like that you guys did and you listened is, like, this pink, this pink short
35:40set is really super cute.
35:43Okay.
35:43Let's add it.
35:44I mean, I just think it makes it happier and a little bit more summery and a little bit less
35:48sad.
35:49I love it.
35:50It's really nice.
35:51Thank God I was able to go in and review everything,
35:54and I think right now we're all on the same page.
35:57You know, they're all professionals.
35:59They've all been in the business for a long time, and you have to trust them.
36:02And in turn, I hope they trust me that I also know what I'm doing.
36:06I knew we'd arrive at the solution.
36:09I'm feeling pretty good about the direction for the collection.
36:13Dealing with the retailers is like dating.
36:15If you prove yourself with sales online, then maybe they might give you a ring.
36:21Then they marry you.
36:23Now, we're at the bar, and they're buying me a drink.
36:25Or I'm buying them a drink.
36:27I don't know.
36:27Whichever way you look at it.
36:29Got to make her a little sexier.
36:31Got to show some leg.
36:32Oh, yeah.
36:33Really sexy.
36:34Come on, girl.
36:34Sex it up.
36:36Sexy sells.
36:38Oh, too much.
36:39Well, that's a little, okay.
36:42Oh, I'm sitting on a gold mine.
36:45Gonna show them that I'm worth it this time.
36:48Oh, I'm just scratching the surface.
36:50Going after what I want with a purpose.
36:53It's going down, yeah.
36:54I'm stepping on my game.
36:56Cleaving all the treasure that's in my name.
36:58Oh, I'm sitting on a gold mine.
37:01I feel like we should also do this one in white gold.
37:04It'll be so good.
37:06Hello.
37:06How are you?
37:08Good to see you.
37:09Good to see you.
37:10How is everything?
37:11Whoa.
37:12So good.
37:13Okay.
37:14We have to talk.
37:16So we went to see that store in Palm Beach, and we really liked it, and I think it's a
37:22beautiful
37:23location.
37:23It's a great store, but I wanted to talk to you because I think it's very important for
37:29me to focus on this store right now.
37:32The brand is growing so fast, and it's getting so busy.
37:37There's so much going on that I think maybe we should pass it to next year, like end of
37:43next year, maybe September or November, we open with more time.
37:47I do want to grow the brand.
37:48That's my purpose.
37:49But I know that my kids are missing me, and my husband is missing me.
37:54I think that being a mother makes me want to do things slower.
37:59I love to see those little girls grow.
38:01When they were babies on me, I would be like, oh, they're so cute.
38:05I'm obsessed with them.
38:06But now that they talk and they say the cutest little things, I don't want to miss
38:13special moments in their lives, you know?
38:15I don't want to be there when they come home and they want to do their homework.
38:18The love that we have is the most beautiful thing because we love to be together, and
38:24I'm so grateful for them.
38:27Like, they're the best thing ever.
38:29You know, I can tell you one thing.
38:30I think we need to pass it for next year, and we'll be like, when I have the time, to
38:35build it properly.
38:37Because, you know, I don't like, and I'm sure you don't like also to do like something
38:41and a pressure.
38:42I know exactly what I want for my company.
38:44Like, my brands are successful.
38:47I'm growing my brands the way I want them to grow.
38:50And I'm learning how to be a leader.
38:52I'm learning how to be an entrepreneur.
38:55Deep inside, I want things to go the way it's going right now.
39:01Good to see you.
39:03Bye.
39:04Bye.
39:05Bye.
39:08Bye.
39:08Bye.
39:11Bye.
39:11Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, it's not the end.
39:19Morning.
39:20Good morning.
39:21Good afternoon.
39:22You look great.
39:23What are you wearing?
39:24Where are you?
39:25Greensboro?
39:26Are you back in the real pit, huh?
39:29Back in the saddle again.
39:31You look great.
39:32First of all, Taiwan, Malaysia.
39:35I want to talk about that.
39:36How did that, are we good on the tickets, right?
39:38We're sold out.
39:38But we've sold more tickets to the Southeast Asia event than we've sold to the U.S. event.
39:45That's amazing.
39:46The question might be is do we want to, you know, hit Hong Kong, which would be right either
39:50before or right after.
39:52It's just something, we don't have to make that decision.
39:53Well, that's one thing I was going to mention to you.
39:55I would like to have a meeting next week with all country managers at once.
39:59While I'm getting on the phone with these leaders and having a conversation and understanding
40:03how things are, I got to figure out a way to make things work more efficiently for
40:09you and me.
40:10And I agree.
40:12The best use of mining your time is with people.
40:16So there you have it.
40:17So that's done.
40:18The second thing is I just need your thoughts on this.
40:21This has been such a challenge for me as Greenwich.
40:24You know, I turned down the first offer I got in June because I just wasn't ready to
40:31make that decision.
40:32I was just not emotionally or mentally prepared to sell.
40:36You know, I don't like to do things when I'm rushed in a decision.
40:39Now, Mark and Christian, I received this offer that
40:46is almost, you know, too good.
40:50I would, it would be enough to cover the cost of my project in Miami, the construction of
40:54the house here.
40:55It would give me till May to move out, which is what I need, as you know.
41:00Wow.
41:01I need to rethink how we handle this.
41:04Every home had a different purpose for us.
41:06Greenwich was a place that I dreamed that my grandchildren would spend their summers and
41:12bring their children back to one day and run in the yard.
41:15And, you know, the children see Greenwich as the summer home, exactly as J.R. intended
41:21it to be.
41:22But yet, I haven't spent any time in Greenwich since J.R. passed.
41:25It's too hard.
41:26And now I have, you know, unsolicited offers.
41:30The house wasn't listed for sale, double of what we paid, J.R. and I, offers that are
41:35almost too good to not take.
41:39But I also remember that J.R. gave me the home for my birthday, so it's a catch-22.
41:43It's very sentimental.
41:44I'm not sure I'm prepared.
41:46As you know, when I'm not ready to make a decision, my answer is make no decisions.
41:51And the hardest decisions to make are the emotional decisions.
41:54Yep.
41:54You know, we're grateful for you, so.
41:59At the end of the day, I'm going to do the right thing.
42:04Mm-hmm.
42:05Yeah.
42:06None of it's easy.
42:13Body of life is not focused on every having more, it's less.
42:18Ultimately, I have to move into the future by myself, and so I need to have less things
42:23and more of me.
42:26I need to take a lot of that extra stuff off of me so I can move into the future
42:30and I
42:31can do the things I need to do.
42:33It's time to go.
42:38We are hosting this breakfast targeting industry insiders.
42:42Thank you all so much for coming this morning.
42:45Hopefully, the breakfast allows us to meet our goal.
42:49I mean, the clock is ticking.
42:51The deadline for the first close is imminent.
42:54Does anyone have questions?
42:59Thank you so much, darling.
43:01I'm glad that that's time with us again.
43:03Kyle's in season, but he has a little bit of time, so he was like, babe, I want to go
43:07to Turks and Caicos, I'm so excited, I'm so happy.
43:11One of the values that Kyle and I both have is how important family is to us, and I always
43:17wanted to build my own family.
43:20So, um, how many can happen?
43:53I am a warrior, yeah, yeah, oh, I am a warrior, yeah, yeah, oh, I am a warrior.
44:23I am a warrior, yeah, oh, I am, I am a warrior, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
44:24You
