00:00You know, I just had Bob Nightingale on,
00:02and he made an interesting comment about Barry Bonds.
00:05And I wonder if you subscribe to the same thing, that Barry Bonds,
00:09he said that, in his opinion,
00:12is not getting into the Baseball Hall of Fame ever,
00:15unless he said a modern guy who's in the hall now comes clean
00:21and says that he took it.
00:22He sees Bonds never making it to Baseball's Hall of Fame.
00:26Do you subscribe to that too, Tim?
00:28Um, I'm not going to go to never, but it's not looking good.
00:34Keep in mind, Dan, in his 10th year on the ballot,
00:38Bonds and Clemens got six percent of the vote.
00:42Got to get 75 percent.
00:44But twice now, Bonds and Clemens, but we'll just use Bonds here,
00:48has gone on the special committee ballots.
00:51I served on four of those special committees,
00:55and neither Bonds nor Clemens got even four votes
00:59in either year that they were on the special ballot.
01:04You've got to get 75 percent, 25 percent.
01:07It just shows you when you put former players on those committees.
01:12The former players have a harder time with anybody who did performance-enhancing drugs
01:18or bet on baseball or whatever.
01:20They're much harder on them than the writers are.
01:24So I think things are stacked against Bonds and Clemens,
01:29and they're running out of chances.
01:32But I'm never going to say never,
01:33because who knows what's going to happen 20, 30 years from now
01:37when perhaps the voting system changes.
01:40C
01:40C
01:40Here we go.
