22 February - National Weather Forecast presented by Marco Petagna
Transcript
00:00Hello, here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Marco Britannia.
00:04We're starting Sunday on a fairly unsettled note across the south and south-east of the
00:07UK. Some outbreaks of locally heavy rain gradually moving from west to east. They'll
00:11clear away to the south-east as we go through the morning, and then for many southern parts
00:15– the Midlands, southern England and much of Wales too – as we head into the afternoon
00:19there will be lots of sunshine around. Further north and north-west across much of Scotland
00:22and Northern Ireland. Plenty of showers moving in from the south-west. Quite brisk south-westerly
00:27winds, quite gusty at times, especially as those showers move through. Those showers
00:31could be heavy with some hail and thunder in places, even a bit of snow across the highest
00:35ground in Scotland. Temperatures peaking in the north at around about 9 to 11 Celsius,
00:39which is close to where they should be for the time of year. But it's another mild day
00:42in the south and south-east. We could see afternoon highs locally with 15 or 16 Celsius. 16 would
00:48be 61 in Fahrenheit and well above where they should be for the time of year. As we head
00:52into the evening then, in through the overnight period, we'll hold on to some clear weather
00:56down towards the south and south-east, at least for a while. Just a few showers moving through
00:59as we go through the overnight period. But most of the showers are reserved for more northern
01:03and western areas. Some of those showers are quite heavy once again, accompanied by blustery
01:07winds, and one or two of the showers mixed in with some hail and thunder as well. By Monday
01:11morning we could see a touch of frost in rural spots across the north of the UK, but elsewhere
01:15it's generally frost-free, certainly down towards the south in Towson cities, holding up
01:197 to 9 Celsius. As for Monday, we'll start the day with a mixture once again of sunshine
01:24and showers. But notice some more persistent rain starting to move in from the west, reaching
01:28Northern Ireland through the morning, and then some other, certainly western parts of
01:31the UK heading into Monday afternoon. So going downhill across much of the UK into the afternoon,
01:36some heavy bursts of rain in places. If we hold on to some sunshine in the south-east,
01:40temperatures peaking at 14 or 15 Celsius are once again very mild. And even in the north
01:44there, temperatures at 10 Celsius, much higher than we've seen of late. That's pretty much
01:49it from me, but of course you can keep tuned to The Metal Office Forecast by following us
01:52on social media and by subscribing to our YouTube channel. I'll see you soon, take care for now,
01:57bye bye.
