00:00Hello, here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Marco Pitagna. Low pressure

00:04is starting to pull away to the south and south-east of the UK this evening, taking

00:07most of its showers with it. That's allowing a ridge of high pressure to topple in from

00:11the north-west, promising some quieter weather, at least for a time. But notice these weather

00:15fronts, they're moving in from the north-west as we head through the latter stages of Monday

00:18and into Tuesday, bringing in a brisk breeze and some outbreaks of rain too.

00:22Looking at things in more detail for this evening and through the overnight period though,

00:26we'll hold on to some showers for a time at least across the south and south-east.

00:29Some of those could still be quite heavy, even given the odd rumble of thunder and some

00:34spray on the roads. But they will tend to ease and fade then overnight, leaving a legacy

00:38of a lot of low cloud with some fog patches in places, particularly over the hills. Whereas

00:42towards the north and north-west, away from some rain there towards the far north-east,

00:45it's a mostly fine picture, a lot of clear weather around. And because of those clear

00:49skies, it's set to turn quite chilly. We'll see quite a widespread frost, certainly in

00:53rural spots by Monday morning. Temperatures in those rural areas down to minus three or

00:57minus four Celsius. That's rural spots of both Scotland and Northern Ireland. Further

01:01south-east though, with a cloud around, those temperatures hold safely above freezing. Lows

01:05here around about seven to nine Celsius, so widely frost-free here to start the day on

01:09Monday.

01:10Into Monday itself then, and we start the day on a pretty grey note across the south

01:14and south-east. Low cloud and fog slowly lifting and breaking to give plenty of fine weather

01:18then across the UK, lots of sunshine around. The best of that sunshine across the central

01:22slice of the UK, with cloud thickening towards the north-west, bringing breezy conditions

01:27and some outbreaks of rain, certainly into the north and west of Scotland, and eventually

01:31into two parts of Northern Ireland as well.

01:33Despite the cloud towards the north-west, temperatures are doing quite well for the

01:35time of year, peaking at around about 11 or 12, locally even 13 Celsius. That's into

01:40the mid-50s in Fahrenheit. Whereas towards the south-east, given the sunshine and lighter

01:44winds, feeling pleasantly warm, with highs here of 14 or 15 degrees. 15 in London there

01:49is 59 in Fahrenheit.

01:52Those outbreaks of rain in the north-west will gradually slip their way south-eastwards

01:55to affect central and southern parts of the UK as we head into Tuesday. So it's the turn

01:59of the south to see cloudier skies on Tuesday, with bits and pieces of rain around. Brighter

02:03skies elsewhere towards the north and north-west, a fresher north-westerly breeze, and just

02:07a few showers across the far north of Scotland. But despite that, temperatures are still doing

02:11quite well for the time of year, peaking in the low to mid-teens Celsius, perhaps up to

02:1516 degrees in the south-east there, that's 61 in Fahrenheit.
