00:00Hello, here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Marco Pitania. We've got

00:04a cold north to northwesterly air stream across the UK at the moment. In fact, we have weather

00:07warnings enforced across many northern and western spots until 9 o'clock this evening.

00:11Gusts of wind here to 50 to local, even 70 miles an hour, could cause one or two problems

00:15out and about. Lots of showers feeding in from that northwesterly direction too. Could

00:19be a little bit wintry across the hills towards the north and north-west. And wherever you

00:22are, it's quite a chilly feeling day. Temperatures know better on the thermometer at 6 to 9 Celsius,

00:27down towards the south where it's 48 in Fahrenheit. But if we add on the effect of that brisk

00:32north to northwesterly air stream there, temperatures feeling closer to freezing, certainly in one

00:37or two rural spots there feeling a little bit below freezing, so quite a chilly afternoon

00:40to come. As we go into the evening and through the overnight period, we hold on to those

00:44brisk winds towards the north and west, certainly for a time, that wind warning is enforced

00:48until 9 o'clock this evening. Then the winds start to ease down overnight, as do the showers,

00:53one or two showers lingering towards the northeast. A little bit wintry on the hills of Scotland

00:57there. The best of the clear spells, the further south and east you go. And wherever

01:00you are, quite a chilly night to come. Could be a touch of frost. Temperatures in towns

01:04and cities generally holding just above freezing, but in some rural spots down close to freezing,

01:08so as I say, a touch of frost by Monday morning. And also one or two icy patches possible towards

01:12the north and northeast. As for Monday itself, well, plenty of sunshine in the morning towards

01:17the south and east of the UK. A bit of cloud moving in from the west there into the afternoon

01:21to make things bright rather than sunny here. Whereas towards the north and west, cloud

01:25thickening from the Atlantic, some outbreaks of rain starting to move in across Scotland,

01:28Northern Ireland, many western parts of Wales and the rest of the western parts of the UK

01:33into the afternoon. So the best of the sunshine, as I say, lingering the further south and

01:36east you go. Fairly light winds towards the south and east, turning a bit more breezy

01:40out towards the west as that rain starts to come in. Milder air also starting to work

01:44in across those western areas into the afternoon. Temperatures close to double figures here,

01:48but staying quite chilly out across the east and southeast. Temperatures here no better

01:51than five or six Celsius. The milder weather does start to win out though as we go through

01:55the evening on Monday. Cloud and patchy rain moving east, southeast with across all areas

01:59as we go into the overnight period, into the early part of Christmas Eve. Milder too, as

02:04I say, but also quite a bit of low cloud around, some of that cloud sitting on the hilltops

02:08giving us some mist and fog in places. That takes us into a much milder Christmas period

02:13then. Lots of cloud around though, and some rain towards the northwest of the UK, but

02:17for many it will stay dry. That's pretty much it for me, but of course you can keep tuned
