00:00But college basketball, Joe, it is here.
00:03Yeah, we're still in the silly season.
00:04We're before Thanksgiving, but the games seemingly are starting to improve, Joe.
00:09How have you been enjoying this college basketball early season so far?
00:12I love it, Donnie.
00:14I've had a great string of success here early on.
00:19Teams that we thought would be good are good.
00:22There are some mid-major programs that, as usual,
00:26maybe standing out a little bit better than people give them credit for.
00:30The value in college basketball is now, Donnie,
00:33because once the cat is out of the bag,
00:36the market will take away all that value on some of these mid-major teams.
00:41So keep an eye out, especially a team like, I'll just throw it out there,
00:45Sacramento State, which is playing a very interesting brand of basketball
00:49with former NBA player Mike Bibby as the head coach there.
00:54Interesting team.
00:57Team dime right out there.
00:58And by the way, Sacramento State, that's the team with the big NIL now
01:01trying to get into that marketplace, pay some players,
01:03see if they can do some damage here, Joe,
01:05which means the AP top 25 as of this past week.
01:08Now, we might be looking through there.
01:09It's the same old, same old, but look at the top five.
01:12Purdue now number one, Houston number two, UConn three, Arizona four,
01:17Duke number five.
01:18What are we thinking about the AP top 25 this early, Joe?
01:22Yeah, that's shocking.
01:23I mean, who saw that coming?
01:25Like, come on.
01:26This is everybody on that list in that top 25.
01:30They'll just be jockeying for position from here on out.
01:35Big win by Houston against Auburn the other day on the road.
01:39And, yeah, even the defending champs, Florida, had a big test against Florida State,
01:45had a big one against Miami that they handled.
01:48So, yeah, the Blue Bloods are the Blue Bloods for a reason.
01:52And you'll see four of them tonight with Michigan State, Duke, Kansas, and Kentucky.
01:56There you go.
01:57Let's head to Madison Square Garden tonight.
01:59Early game.
02:00Love to see this, Joe.
02:02A 6.30 tip time.
02:03That's Michigan State and Kentucky from the world's most famous arena.
02:06A five-and-a-half point favorite right now live for Kentucky.
02:10As you see the graphic there, minus four-and-a-half.
02:12A total of 153-and-a-half.
02:15Michigan State and Kentucky at the Garden.
02:17Joe, how are we feeling?
02:18Yeah, well, big question here is Kentucky and their leading point guard, Jelan Lowe,
02:25and whether or not he will be able to go in this game here.
02:29But that hasn't stopped the market from thinking that, well,
02:33they are just that much better than Michigan State here.
02:36And, listen, we know what Michigan State's going to be all about.
02:40They're going to play great defense.
02:42They're going to defend.
02:43They're going to shoot from three.
02:44And they've done a pretty good job in this tournament over the years.
02:49I think it's a fascinating litmus test for these two teams,
02:51but I'm more inclined to take the points with Coach Izzo and Michigan State in this one.
02:57Yeah, let me just take a look at Michigan State again.
02:593-0 for them, 3-1 for Kentucky.
03:02Colgate, Arkansas, that's a solid win.
03:04Top 20 team here, San Jose State, and then Kentucky.
03:07And then the only loss that you saw, the blemish on Kentucky.
03:09They had three layups, which they won easily, but then lost to Louisville here.
03:12So, some competition on a neutral court site, never to blame here,
03:16because we like this type of stuff.
03:17Don't give me the bums where you're playing each other.
03:19Give me the big talent, and you're getting that in the Garden.
03:21Which game number two, Kansas versus Duke, Joe.
03:25Double-digit favorites for the Duke Blue Devils on a neutral court.
03:29The total of 149.5.
03:32What do we have from Shire and the boys tonight in the Garden?
03:34Well, we have a, you know, unfortunately, one less player for Kansas here tonight,
03:41and that is the presumptive number one overall pick in the NBA draft.
03:46And that, with Darren Peterson, he's got a hamstring injury for Kansas,
03:51which means he's not playing in this game.
03:54Bill Self already said he doesn't expect him to be going,
03:57which is why this went from about 7-7.5, Donnie, to 10-10.5.
04:01You'll love, I mean, listen, this Duke team is huge.
04:06Boozer, I mean, they've got two guys at 6'9", one guy at 6'11".
04:11They can score from anywhere.
04:14They don't allow anybody in the paint to score.
04:16They are a juggernaut.
04:18The big play in this game, though, Donnie, is going to be the under.
04:22These two teams, over the last couple of years,
04:24as much firepower as they have offensively,
04:27they're even better getting at it defensively,
04:29and I think that's what we're going to see again here tonight.
04:32Yeah, Duke crushed Texas to start the season there,
04:34so a little elevated competition there.
04:36You take a look at Kansas as they beat Green Bay.
04:38They beat Texas A&M, Corpus Christi.
04:41They beat Princeton, and they lost a game by double digits to North Carolina,
04:44so some things to dip into, Joe.
04:46Are we getting points in these two games in the Garden tonight,
04:48or do you say, hey, neutral court, two teams feeling themselves out?
04:51Maybe they stay under the total tonight.
04:53I have a feeling both of these teams are going to be bringing defense.
04:58All four of these teams expect some defense,
05:01especially with that Kansas and Duke game.
05:03How about that?
05:04One hour down, one hour to go.
05:05It's how we get down to business on a Tuesday morning radio
05:08on the early line on the Sports Grid Network.
05:10Joe and here is Donnie right side.
05:11The party is just getting started.
05:13Don't you change your style.
