01:08The Prime Minister is expected to speak there any minute now and we'll be taking you through that.
01:12Also, what happened on day one?
01:13Who all are participating and why exactly is this so, so, so pertinent and important for not just India, but
01:22the global south?
01:23I'm Sonal Merotra Kapoor.
01:24We'll take you through all of that over the next one hour.
01:26First up, the headlines.
01:30The much-anticipated India AI Impact Summit 2026 has kicked off today.
01:35The summit will see world's top tech leaders in attendance.
01:38Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed immense pride as global leaders, innovators and experts gather in India for the AI
01:45Impact Summit.
01:49Global tech titans have already arrived.
01:52Bill Gates, upon his arrival in India, was welcomed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidoo,
01:57the Deputy Chief Minister Daed Pawan Kalyan and the Minister Nara Lokesh.
02:01Also, the global leaders including the French President Macron, Brazilian President and also the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi will
02:09be participating and are already in here.
02:14But let's talk about that a little bit more.
02:16Mr. Macron, along with the first lady there, will touch down in Delhi tonight.
02:22He will meet with the Prime Minister tomorrow, followed by some MOU exchanges as well, along with the press statement
02:28at the Lok Bhavan.
02:30Also, he will be attending the AI Impact Summit from the 18th of February.
02:37Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Nainar Narendran has expressed regret over his crass remark after actor Trisha lashed out at
02:48him.
02:48The BJP leader has now called the statement a mistake amid the sexist remark row in Tamil Nadu.
02:57But what's happening in the North East? Confusion grips the state of Assam, Assam Congress at least, you know, ahead
03:05of the elections there.
03:06The former State Chief, Bhupen Bora, first tenders his resignation, then says he will take a final call tomorrow.
03:13The Assam Congress unit, meanwhile, claims Bora has withdrawn his resignation.
03:21Supreme Court refuses to entertain plea against Assam, Chief Minister Himmanta.
03:25The top court has asked the petitioners to go to the high court first.
03:28The court also says the petition has been filed and the plea for publicity before Assam polls.
03:37A death trap in Greater Noida claims the life of a toddler this time.
03:43Three-year-old Devanj has drowned in a water-filled pit.
03:46The tragedy comes close to the heels of the Noida Techie case, remember?
03:51The deaths there that happened after falling into that pit.
03:54Lives have been lost, but who is to blame and where does the buck stop?
03:59Clearly not, with several lives being adding to that misery.
04:05Also, a 10-month-old from Kerala has now become the youngest organ donor.
04:09She has saved five lives after being declared brain dead following a tragic car accident in Kotham.
04:15Now, Kerala Chief Minister has said the tribute to the infant as well, who was buried with full state honours.
04:28Over 20 people have died in two weeks in Haryana amid the Hepatitis B outbreak.
04:33Authorities have set a health camp and launched a mass screening after several activities and victims there tested positive, triggering
04:41a panic in the area.
04:46The wedding buzz around actor Vijay Devakonda and Rashmika Mandana won't stop.
04:52The duo is likely to tie the knot now on the 26th of February.
04:56The news marks a transition from their celebrated on-screen chemistry to real-life vows as well,
05:03making them one of the most talked-about couples in the industry.
05:11Now, the future of artificial intelligence is being scripted as we speak right here in India.
05:18India has officially made its stride into the global spotlight as it hosts the AI Impact Summit 2026.
05:25Now, this is a five-day mega summit at the Bharat Mandapam.
05:28That's not just about technology, but also about direction, about power, about purpose.
05:34In fact, some came out of it saying that it's not just about AI, but it's about the humans who
05:38are leading that AI.
05:40This isn't another tech conference.
05:43It's a global gathering, we are told, where world leaders, innovators and startups are asking the big question.
05:48Who is shaping the role of AI for global governance as well?
05:53And India wants that answer to include the global south.
05:56Now, more than two and a half lakh visitors are expected.
05:59From global tech leaders to tech heavyweights, including Sam Altman, Sundar Pichai,
06:05the world has arrived in Delhi for not just innovation, but also inclusion.
06:11Now, in minutes from now, we will hear from the Prime Minister as he will inaugurate the AI Impact Expo.
06:17But before that, take a look at why this matters so much and what exactly will India take away from
06:24it?
06:36The global spotlight is on India hosting the AI Impact Summit 2026.
06:44The five-day summit at Bharat Mandapam aims to shape how AI drives inclusive growth, governance and human development.
06:53World leaders, global tech firms, startups, policy makers and academia are gathering to shape a shared roadmap for the future
07:03of artificial intelligence.
07:06With over 2.5 lakh visitors, the summit positions India at the centre of the global AI conversation.
07:14Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hailed the AI Summit for bringing the world together and showcasing the capability of India's
07:21youth and our progress in science and technology.
07:24For India, this is a decision about the future of growth, social stability and cohesion.
07:37We must act and act now.
07:41India AI Impact Expo 2026 will be held alongside the summit and serve as the national demonstration of AI in
07:50action.
07:51The expo will feature over 600 high-potentious startups and 13 country pavilions, showcased along the themes of people, planet
08:01and progress.
08:04More than 5000 traffic policemen have been additionally deployed for the easy movement during AI Impact Summit.
08:12That happens to be the five-day long summit where world leaders for more than 20 nations and the participants
08:19from 45 countries and 2.5 lakh visitors are expected to be a part of this event.
08:27Global leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron, Brazilian President Lula de Silva, Spanish President Pedro Sanchez, Sri Lankan President Anurah
08:38Dissanayaka and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nayan are participating in the summit.
08:46The UK and India have a very close relationship when it comes to technology.
08:50We have a fantastic base in the free trade agreement where countries both looking at two things.
08:54One, the adoption of AI to make sure we're spreading opportunity for people both across the UK and India.
09:00And secondly, as you say, the responsible adoption of AI.
09:03Unlike earlier AI meetings in the UK, South Korea and France that focused heavily on safety and regulation, India's summit
09:12seeks to place development and the global south at the centre of the AI conversation.
09:18With global technology leaders including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to Google CEO Sundar Pichai present at the summit,
09:26Start-up companies will showcase their prowess in how AI can be used for security, to prevent street crimes in
09:33sports and even in medical procedures.
10:05Artificial Intelligence Summit in the 2026.
10:06First international AI summit of its kind being held in the global south,
10:10the summit positions India at the centre of amplifying the voices
10:14of developing nations in global AI governance.
10:19Vishwani Sharma and Ashutosh Mishra, Bureau Report, India Today.
10:26You saw just a glimpse of what that summit is actually looking like,
10:31but let me cut across to somebody who was actually there in the morning
10:33and is now back in the studios with us.
10:35Cyrus is here.
10:36Cyrus, so much to say, so much to ask when it comes to AI,
10:41but I have two specific points.
10:43Number one, every time somebody says AI, I'm thinking job cuts.
10:49I'm thinking more jobs gone.
10:51And second, the image that India has, that we consume AI,
10:56we're the global leaders in consumption of AI,
10:59and thus in interest of a lot of companies,
11:02but we're not building AI.
11:03How are both these getting addressed?
11:06But let's talk about jobs first.
11:08So, Sonal, the thing is, a lot of the concerns related to job loss
11:12because of AI have been addressed in the past as well.
11:15Ever since 2022, when OpenAI came up with this tool called ChatGPT,
11:20people were fearing, okay, where is content creation going to go?
11:22Where is the layer one job skill going to go?
11:25But it's not something that people are ignorant about.
11:29They understand, especially the tech leaders around the world.
11:31They have said that data, I would say, coding, the layer one coding jobs,
11:36yes, they will be gone because AI is doing that.
11:39However, people also need to look at the hindsight.
11:43If technology is taking away certain jobs,
11:45it will also create certain jobs, certain layer of jobs.
11:48However, the concern for a lot of people is,
11:51how fast is it creating jobs,
11:53considering how quickly it's eliminating those?
11:56So, yes, there is concern regarding job security in a lot of industries,
12:01but I guess people need to adapt sooner as possible.
12:05It's like you're sitting in a room, there are five candidates for an interview.
12:10If three of them know how to use AI and the two of them don't,
12:13obviously the three that know how to use will be considered.
12:16So, I think the message across the population is being sent,
12:20just adapt as quickly as possible,
12:22learn as many AI tools as possible,
12:24and then you will be equipped with the right skills
12:26to take on any kind of opportunities that come your way.
12:29Yeah, but they're also training AI into doing more and more jobs.
12:32Absolutely.
12:33I think, I mean, look at us.
12:34A lot of our work, even in the newsroom at the moment,
12:36happens with the help of AI.
12:39We are, India Today Group, in fact,
12:41has been one of those leaders in pioneering AI,
12:43adapting to it truly.
12:45But one really wonders to what extent it will go.
12:47But let me come to the second one,
12:49which is perhaps easier to answer.
12:51This one is a debate.
12:52We don't know which way this is going.
12:54But let me cut to the other one.
12:56The big concern for India at the moment is
12:58that we are not building AI systems.
13:00This has been voiced by people in power,
13:03in fact, by Piyush Goyal as well,
13:04at several occasions.
13:06So, how, with this summit,
13:08what are we expecting to change?
13:11So, India is right now trying to shed that image
13:14of it being the backdoor office
13:15for all of the IT support systems.
13:18And I think we are at the, you know,
13:21at the precipice.
13:22Basically, we're trying to understand
13:23how we can go about doing this.
13:25The AI summit, I think,
13:27is the pedestal that India needed
13:29to be in front of the global leaders
13:32and say, okay,
13:33we not only have the engineering capabilities
13:35in terms of the coders,
13:36but we also have the infrastructure.
13:38We are acquiring GPUs at astronomical rates.
13:42We are also acquiring the talent
13:43and training them in order to make sure
13:45that whenever the companies come here,
13:47we are equipped with not only the knowledge,
13:50but also the infrastructure to do that.
13:51And this AI summit is kind of a showreel
13:54of what India can do,
13:55not only just startups,
13:56but also enterprises and institutions
13:59that can live up to the expectations
14:01of these global leaders
14:02that, hey, we have this technology,
14:04we need the consumers,
14:05and we need you to operate it and innovate.
14:07So, India is saying, okay,
14:08we have the resources.
14:09Yes, I will not say that we may be on par
14:13with some of the global leaders right now,
14:15but we are getting there.
14:17The fact, Solal, right now,
14:18Google CEO, Anthropic CEO,
14:20all of these big techies are coming to India.
14:23There is a reason for that.
14:25Not only do we have the people
14:26who can consume and build the AI,
14:29but everybody globally sees India
14:31as a major player in the AI development.
14:34So, yes, maybe down the line,
14:36we will have the infrastructure,
14:37and India is looking in that direction.
14:39That's the good thing,
14:40because, I mean,
14:41why would some of the top leaders,
14:43some of the top tech leaders come to India?
14:45Because they see India having the potential,
14:47and that's one of the reasons.
14:48So, I think we also need to stop considering India
14:51just as maybe a support system,
14:53but also an innovation hub.
14:55Yeah, but help me understand this.
14:59When this is said to be one hub,
15:02one summit where thousands are attending,
15:04there are companies,
15:06there are politicians and heads of states,
15:09that's layer one.
15:10Then there are CEOs of the biggest tech,
15:13big tech companies in the world,
15:14that's leg number two.
15:15Then after that comes a lot of Indian leaders,
15:18CEOs and companies,
15:20and then a lot of startups,
15:22and everybody is just,
15:22I got so many calls saying,
15:24how can I register,
15:24how can I be part of this AI summit as well, right?
15:27What happens in these five days
15:30when this summit is unfolding?
15:32What kind of connections are built?
15:34What kind of networking happens?
15:36Is this the kind of divorce of AI?
15:39Can we call it that?
15:40Well, it's an opportunity engine,
15:43I would say.
15:44A lot of the startups assemble over there,
15:47policy makers, tech leaders,
15:49so that entire ecosystem
15:50where AI innovations can not only be showcased,
15:54but have the opportunity to thrive.
15:56I have seen so many startups,
15:58well, I attend a lot of these tech conventions,
16:00smaller companies have their product showcases over there.
16:05Now, what happens if they don't fall into the right eyes?
16:08I mean, if the right people don't get to see them,
16:10they kind of get lost,
16:11and which is where I feel summits like these
16:14are an excellent platform
16:15and an opportunity for the smaller startups
16:18to come and showcase their products.
16:20Second, policy.
16:21I believe that whenever you are making regulation
16:24or policy frameworks,
16:26especially for a technology
16:27that is hardly like five to 10 years old,
16:29well, in a happenstance,
16:31but you need to understand,
16:32in order for you to make policies,
16:34the government and the enterprises,
16:36the people making the technology,
16:38need to collaborate and then formulate policies,
16:40because right now, the concern,
16:42the biggest concern for AI is regulation.
16:45How this one is spreading like wildfire,
16:48people have no idea.
16:49Right now, we're just seeing the chat GPTs
16:51and maybe the Gemini's,
16:52a couple of deep fakes being created,
16:53but the game that's happening in the back end
16:56is much bigger than what people are getting to see,
16:58so they're not even aware
16:59of what's happening on the enterprise side,
17:01and that's why summits like these
17:03are a great opportunity for companies
17:05to come collaborate,
17:07try to ideate as much as possible,
17:09so that whenever the technology
17:10is being created for the future,
17:12they can take into perspective
17:13what they need to create for the people,
17:16so that they also create responsibly,
17:18and I think that's something
17:19that they'll be doing during the summit.
17:22And I think the most important bit here
17:24is regulation.
17:25I think the world is grappling
17:27with how to regulate AI.
17:28I think India is no different,
17:29and I'm sure when world leaders meet,
17:32that is also going to be top of their agenda,
17:34but for the moment,
17:34we leave it there, Cyrus.
17:36Four more days to go.
17:38We'll keep coming back to you
17:38to understand how this entire summit
17:40is progressing.
17:41Thanks so much for now.
17:41Thanks, Alul.
17:49Alright, cutting across
17:50to some breaking news coming in.
17:52This is about India-US trade deal,
17:54where we are made to understand
17:55that some broad frameworks
17:57have been made final.
17:59India-US have made some significant progress
18:02for the trade deal.
18:04Sources are now telling India Today
18:05that India-US trade deal signing
18:08could happen as early as next month.
18:12And centre on that saying
18:13that the chief trade negotiator
18:15is heading to the United States.
18:18That means the integrities
18:20have been sorted out,
18:21perhaps are in the final stage
18:23of getting sorted out.
18:25Let's try and see if we can
18:27get our reporter Karishma
18:30on the phone line for more on this.
18:33Karishma, take us through
18:33what exactly are these details?
18:35How soon can we understand
18:38the nitty-gritties of this deal?
18:41Well, we are picking up
18:43from Commerce Ministry
18:44that since the signing
18:47of joint statements,
18:48now that the contours of the deal
18:50have been laid out,
18:52these contours need to be translated
18:54into a legal agreement.
18:56And the first front of this deal
18:58is like, in fact,
19:00Commerce Ministry Patrice Goyal
19:01had also said,
19:02it is going to be signed
19:04in March 2026,
19:05which the Ministry,
19:07very particularly,
19:08says is an effort.
19:09Though they do not want
19:10to commit on the deadline,
19:12it's an effort
19:12that both the countries
19:13are able to do it
19:14by next month,
19:16for which the chief
19:17for India's chief negotiator
19:19on the U.S. trade deal,
19:20Dutton Green will be in Washington
19:21to carry out the work
19:22towards this legal framework
19:25just next week.
19:26In fact,
19:27the 25-18% Karish
19:29could also be done
19:30in due time,
19:32most likely by this week.
19:33And if it does not happen
19:34by this week,
19:35then of course,
19:35on India's visit to Washington,
19:37that will also get
19:39more of a confirmed
19:41shape and structure
19:42where the exporters
19:43can continue to enjoy
19:44the major rebates
19:46that they were given last week.
19:50All right, Karishma,
19:51thanks so much
19:52for joining us
19:53with the very latest.
19:53So here's hoping
19:54that we'll be getting
19:55more details very, very soon.
19:57And the deal's set to be signed
19:59by next year,
20:01by next month,
20:02beg your pardon,
20:03and including all the details,
20:04especially on agriculture,
20:05which have been
20:06a cause of major concern.
20:12Meanwhile,
20:13Prime Minister Narendra Modi
20:14is set to visit
20:14Israel next week.
20:17Earlier,
20:18the Israel Prime Minister
20:19Benjamin Netanyahu
20:20announced the forthcoming visit,
20:22highlighting the robust
20:23relationship
20:24between the countries.
20:25Official confirmation
20:26from New Delhi
20:27is pending,
20:28but possible dates
20:29are set to be
20:30between 24th
20:31to 25th of February.
20:33That's it to be
20:34the expected date
20:35following an invitation
20:36extended by the
20:37Israeli Prime Minister.
20:38India Today spoke exclusively
20:40with the Israel ambassador
20:42to India
20:42to understand more about
20:44what exactly
20:45could be the outcome
20:46of this meeting
20:47and when exactly
20:48is it set to happen.
20:50Listen in.
20:56Prime Minister Netanyahu
20:57has already announced
20:58that he's expecting
21:00Prime Minister Modi
21:01next week in Israel.
21:03What we should expect,
21:05what the people of India
21:06and Israel should expect
21:07from this high-level meeting
21:08since this visit
21:09was in making
21:10and you were involved
21:10in the preparations.
21:12So, what are the big deliverables
21:14we should be looking at?
21:15Well, we are thrilled,
21:17Pranayv,
21:17to see Prime Minister
21:18Netanyahu coming.
21:20I think this relationship
21:22is very unique
21:22and it's more than just,
21:25you know,
21:26national interest.
21:27I think that there is
21:28a sense of feeling,
21:30a very deep feeling,
21:31both in Israel and in India,
21:33of a friendship
21:34towards one another
21:35because we trust another,
21:36we've built this
21:37for decades now
21:38and we feel very confident
21:40in the relationship,
21:41especially given the,
21:42you know,
21:43the challenges
21:44we have to overcome.
21:45We are going to actually,
21:48we've been actually taking advantage
21:51of the fact that
21:51the Prime Minister is coming
21:52to try to deliver
21:54and finish processes
21:56that have been long going
21:59in different fields.
22:01Okay, so defense is,
22:02you know,
22:02an essential pillar
22:03and here we are going to sign
22:06an updated security agreement
22:08that is going to allow us
22:09to go much deeper
22:10and wider
22:11when it comes to
22:12our defense cooperation,
22:13both G2G
22:15but also in the private sector.
22:18Thanks to that agreement,
22:19we are going to be able
22:20to open up
22:22cooperation in new technologies,
22:24advanced technologies
22:25because the defense challenges
22:28have become very significant
22:29with the development
22:30of technology.
22:31But are we looking at,
22:32since the AI summit is also,
22:34so AI application
22:35in defense and security,
22:36are we looking at those areas
22:38or the quantum computing
22:39or the transfer of technology
22:41because India needs
22:42the technology,
22:43is Israel ready
22:44to share the high-tech
22:45cutting-edge technology
22:46with India?
22:47So fortunately,
22:48we are having,
22:49as a preparation
22:49for the visit,
22:50another visit
22:52that is starting tomorrow
22:54of our AI czar,
22:57the guy in charge
22:58of AI in Israel
22:59that sits in the
23:00Prime Minister's office.
23:01He is coming to Delhi
23:03and we are going to have
23:04very high-level meetings
23:05with people
23:07both in high-level government
23:09and also in the private sector.
23:10The idea on AI
23:12is not just to discuss
23:14policies of AI,
23:15but actually figure out
23:17a way
23:20of advancing
23:21tangible projects.
23:22For example,
23:23one field that we are
23:24interested in
23:24is building data centers.
23:26That is a tool
23:28that we need
23:28both in the defense sector
23:30and also in the civilian sector.
23:31I was really keen
23:32to know from
23:32and hear from you
23:33that what is the progress
23:35on FTA?
23:35Can we see some
23:36concrete step,
23:38some conclusion
23:38or some kind of agreement
23:40during this visit
23:41of Prime Minister Modi?
23:42Well, you know,
23:43we just signed the TOR
23:44when Minister Piyush Goyal
23:47came to Israel
23:47and the first,
23:48you know,
23:50official negotiation round
23:51is going to be
23:52happening in Delhi,
23:53actually during the time
23:54that Prime Minister Modi
23:55is in Israel.
23:56So I find it hard
23:57to believe that
23:58we'll be able
23:59to nail the FTA now,
24:01but I think that
24:02the trip
24:03can give us
24:04the confidence
24:05that we'll have
24:06the political backwind
24:09for the negotiation teams
24:11to finish it
24:11as soon as possible.
24:13We want to finish it,
24:14you know,
24:14before the end
24:15of the year
24:15and I think
24:16it's doable.
24:18It's not that complicated.
24:19Is Israel hopeful
24:20that international
24:21stabilization force
24:22could be deployed
24:23in that region
24:24and countries
24:25like Turkey
24:25or Pakistan
24:26or Indonesia
24:27or many other countries,
24:28those who have committed
24:29for the Gaza peace plan
24:31and ISF
24:32for the troop deployment,
24:33can they deliver
24:34the promise
24:35of demilitarization
24:36and of Gaza peace plan
24:39or like,
24:40can they make
24:41Hamas surrender weapons?
24:42So we prefer
24:43to give diplomacy
24:44a chance.
24:45Now,
24:45when it comes
24:46to other countries,
24:47you know,
24:47we stated clearly
24:49time and again
24:50and I,
24:51you know,
24:51you can quote me
24:52from other interviews,
24:53we are not in the business
24:55of inviting
24:56unfriendly countries
24:57that are not committed
24:59to the fight
25:00against terrorism
25:01to be part
25:02of this force.
25:03and we have said
25:04that time and again.
25:06So I think
25:06that this is very clear.
25:07There is a difference.
25:08Who all includes
25:09this unfriendly?
25:10Well,
25:10we already said that,
25:12that countries
25:13like Pakistan,
25:14Turkey and Qatar.
25:15The possibility
25:16of, you know,
25:17dismantling
25:18the missile infrastructure
25:19of Iran
25:20is still being considered
25:22as an option
25:23on the table
25:24by President Donald Trump
25:25or even as...
25:26Well,
25:27you have to ask,
25:28you have to ask them.
25:29Yeah,
25:29you have to ask them.
25:30For us,
25:30it's very clear
25:31because we saw,
25:32you know,
25:34how they were building
25:35this program.
25:36They had a plan
25:37to create an arsenal
25:38of about 10,000
25:40ballistic missiles.
25:41Imagine
25:42that we had to withstand
25:44the biggest
25:44ballistic missile attack
25:46in the history
25:46of the world
25:47only last year
25:48when they fired
25:49hundreds of them
25:50and it has
25:52a great potential
25:53of damage.
25:55We had to invest
25:55billions of dollars
25:56to defend ourselves
25:58from that
25:59and this was done
26:01with the intention
26:04of exterminating us
26:05and we are not
26:05inventing it.
26:06The Iranian regime
26:07has stated that
26:08time and again.
26:09There even is a
26:12designated place
26:13in Tehran
26:14in which they
26:14display
26:16their plan
26:17to exterminate us.
26:18So we have
26:19to take it seriously.
26:20We won't live
26:20in a situation
26:21in which
26:22these limitations
26:24won't be put
26:25on the Iranians
26:25and if they are
26:26not put on them
26:28and if they don't
26:28accept them
26:28they will have
26:29to suffer the consequences.
26:36All right updates
26:38coming in
26:38from the CBSC
26:40where the new
26:41Class 10th
26:42examination
26:42guidelines are
26:43concerned.
26:44Now an advisory
26:45has come out
26:46from the CBSC board
26:48saying that
26:48the first exam
26:49is mandatory
26:51for Class 10th
26:53examinees
26:53for all Class 10th
26:55appearing students
26:55and missing
26:56any three exams
26:58or more
26:58to make students
27:00ineligible
27:01to take the
27:02second exam as well.
27:04Now what is the
27:05background to the story?
27:06Remember from this
27:07year onwards
27:08CBSC had given
27:09students a second chance.
27:11They had the choice
27:13to appear
27:13and give their
27:1410th examination
27:15boards
27:15the second time around
27:17if they wanted
27:18if they wanted to
27:19improve their marks
27:20maybe they got nervous
27:21the first time around
27:23or pressure was too much
27:24or whatever
27:24given the circumstances.
27:26Now remember
27:27board examinations
27:28are already underway
27:30and at the middle
27:31of that
27:32CBSC now saying
27:33that people
27:34and kids
27:35will have to appear
27:36if you want to
27:37exercise the choice
27:39of giving the exam
27:41the second time around
27:43you have to appear
27:44the first time.
27:46Remember Class 10th
27:46examination
27:47start tomorrow
27:48and that situation
27:49has been made
27:50very very clear
27:51by the CBSC board.
27:54Anmol Bali
27:55my colleague
27:55joins us
27:56for more details
27:57on this.
27:58Anmol
27:58what was the need
27:59for the CBSC
28:00to underline
28:01this entire comment
28:02in this fresh advisory
28:03help us understand
28:04what was happening
28:05in my understanding
28:07it was always very clear
28:09that there was
28:10a second chance
28:11offered
28:12am I right
28:13that went
28:14that you had to
28:15always take the first one.
28:18Sonal as you know
28:19the Central Board
28:19of Secondary Education
28:20has just introduced
28:21two exam systems
28:22for Class 10
28:23starting from
28:242026 board cycle
28:25which makes
28:26the first board exam
28:27mandatory for all students
28:28and the sixth
28:29who can appear
28:30for the second
28:31is the improvement attempt
28:32because CBSC
28:33has improved
28:33this new system.
28:35The first will take place
28:36this month
28:37in the month of February
28:38and the second
28:39which is the optional one
28:40the second one
28:41will take place
28:41in the month of May.
28:43CBSC has now
28:44introduced this new system
28:45where they have clearly said
28:47that the first cycle
28:48will be mandatory
28:49for the students
28:50and if one misses
28:51three subjects
28:52in the first attempt
28:53he will be barred
28:54for the second cycle
28:56of the examination
28:57this is a big development
28:58from the Central Board
28:58of Secondary Education
28:59because they have introduced
29:00the new system
29:01and according to CBSC
29:03they have done this
29:04for the improvement
29:05of the students
29:05but to make exams
29:06compulsory and important
29:08too for the students.
29:09So, I know.
29:11Alright, Anmol
29:12thanks so much
29:13for joining us
29:14with the very latest.
29:15That's the big update
29:16to all those students
29:18who are appearing
29:19in the board examination
29:21starting tomorrow.
29:22Remember that
29:23giving it the first time around
29:24in the first leg
29:25is absolutely mandatory
29:27and that only permits you
29:29that's the only gateway
29:30to actually giving
29:31a second attempt
29:32as well.
29:33No second attempt
29:34for those who miss it
29:35the first time around.
29:40It's BJP versus BJP
29:42on the issue of pollution.
29:45For months here on 5 Live
29:47we have been warning
29:48about India's
29:49dangerous air quality levels
29:51and now
29:52the fight has erupted
29:54within the ruling party itself.
29:57Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
29:59has called Delhi's air
30:00a gas chamber.
30:02He had nothing wrong
30:04but he also went on to add
30:06that people in Uttar Pradesh
30:08breathe cleaner air
30:09and live in healthier environment.
30:12Is that really the case?
30:14Well, let's go on
30:15to listen in
30:16to what more he said.
30:17He has warned
30:18that pollution harms lungs,
30:20makes breathing difficult
30:21and puts children in Delhi
30:22and also asthmatic patients
30:25at risk.
30:26Very well,
30:27the Yogi Chief Minister
30:28over there
30:29but he has also
30:30advised vulnerable groups
30:32to stay indoors.
30:34But what exactly
30:35are these comments
30:36all about?
30:37They are all very welcome
30:38but let's listen in
30:40to what he said in detail.
31:04I'm sorry.
31:12Nothing wrong in his comments.
31:14They are welcome as well.
31:15But here's the political contradiction here.
31:18The BJP has been in power in Delhi for almost a year now
31:22under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
31:24So when the BJP Chief Minister attacks another BJP Chief Minister,
31:29what exactly is happening?
31:31And here's the even more uncomfortable geography.
31:35Noida and Ghaziabad are also part of Delhi NCR.
31:40And they are technically under the UP Chief Minister himself.
31:46Both Noida and Ghaziad also record pollution levels as severe,
31:51if not more than the national capital.
31:54Now, this reaction by Yogi Adityanath, as welcome as it is,
31:59calls for a lot of introspection even within the BJP.
32:02But of course, the opposition was quick to reply.
32:06The Amathi Party says they put out a tweet saying,
32:10that Yogi Adityanath has exposed the BJP's governance model,
32:15calling it a public admission of failure.
32:17Also, the Congress had also stepped up in reaction to this comment,
32:23asking whether this rare moment of internal criticism
32:26will finally push the Rekha government to act.
32:29Because, you know, finally, beyond these party lines,
32:33India's air remains hazardous.
32:35It doesn't matter if you're in UP or Ghaziabad
32:38or even Lucknow for that matter.
32:39Air quality is poor all across,
32:43especially the northern part of the country.
32:45And 60% of Indians are breathing bad air.
32:4960% of the country is breathing air
32:52that is causing damage to their lives.
32:54And that's the reality that we need to get after.
32:59All right, let's get a perspective on the story
33:02on what triggered this reaction out of the UP Chief Minister.
33:06My colleague Samarth joins us,
33:08Samarth Shivastava joins us for more details on this.
33:11Samarth, I believe the UP Chief Minister
33:13was in Gorakhpur in his hometown
33:15when he actually made this comment.
33:18The day he made the comment,
33:19I went back and checked the AQI.
33:22AQI was still about 120, 130 on that day,
33:26which is way beyond what it should be.
33:28He's right that it's not at par with perhaps Delhi,
33:32but come on, we are officially in spring.
33:36This is not the time to talk about it.
33:38But importantly, what I want to understand from you
33:41is what triggered this reaction
33:43out of the UP Chief Minister
33:44to criticise another Chief Minister of his own party.
33:49I would say that it's a shocking statement
33:52coming from Srin Yogi Adityanath
33:53because we haven't seen such statements coming from him,
33:55especially when it comes to the party line.
33:57We have seen it so far in the politics of Bangladesh
33:59if you compare it with the politics of Delhi.
34:01But this is coming from Yogi Adityanath
34:03where he clearly says
34:04that Delhi has become a gas chamber.
34:07It has become really difficult to breathe there.
34:10There is some impact on eyes as well.
34:13Doctors are suggesting the children
34:15not to go out to homes,
34:17even elderly to stay inside indoors.
34:19So that's what CM Yogi Adityanath is saying.
34:21And also what he interestingly refers to
34:23the Gorakhpur,
34:24because he was addressing Kalyan Mandapam
34:26in the fifth edition of Kalyan Mandapam
34:28in Gorakhpur,
34:28where he clearly says
34:29that like if you breathe here,
34:31you won't find much difficulty in breathing.
34:33But if you compare breathing
34:35from here in Gorakhpur to Delhi,
34:37though we have to understand...
34:38But Samarth, if he goes back to Lucknow,
34:40the air is as bad, no?
34:42Yes, exactly.
34:43Exactly.
34:43You were there, I know.
34:44The point is that
34:45we have to understand
34:46what he was talking about,
34:48whether he was talking about Gorakhpur
34:49by calling it here when we breathe,
34:51or he was talking about entire Uttar Pradesh,
34:53because if you talk about entire Uttar Pradesh,
34:55as you rightly said,
34:56Noida and Ghazi Abad
34:57are also the part of Uttar Pradesh.
34:58And we have seen
34:59if Delhi is soaking in this particular situation,
35:02then Ghazi Abad and Noida
35:04aren't much far.
35:05So that's the ground reality.
35:07And we even saw during Diwali
35:09as well what happened to the AQI of Lucknow.
35:11So this has been a problem
35:13not just for Delhi.
35:14Yes, Delhi has crossed all the limits,
35:16I must say.
35:17Even NCI, why just Delhi?
35:19NCI is also included in that particular part
35:20where Ghazi Abad and Noida is there.
35:22And they are also the part of Uttar Pradesh.
35:24So CM Yogi as a kind of referring,
35:26though opposition have got
35:27much edge in this particular story
35:29by sharing that particular video
35:30from the U.P. assembly
35:32where Yogi Adityanath is claiming
35:33the own government
35:34in the name of BJP in Delhi.
35:37But if CM Yogi Adityanath has said,
35:39then obviously opposition is also asking
35:40whether Delhi,
35:41if Delhi is suffering,
35:43then whether Noida and Ghazi Abad
35:45are in the part of Uttar Pradesh.
35:46Back to you.
35:46Yeah, yeah.
35:47I also have my colleague
35:48Aishwarya Paliwal with me.
35:50Aishwarya, the timing of this comment
35:52is what has really intrigued me.
35:54This is coming just at the time
35:56when the Rekha Gupta government
35:57is about to complete one year in power.
36:00Perhaps the one criticism
36:01that she has faced
36:03constantly has been
36:05of not resolving air quality,
36:08you know, sort of giving a very,
36:10very bad response to,
36:13or so-called response of saying
36:14that we've cleaned up Yamuna as well.
36:16on both these accounts
36:18where she stands to be,
36:20you know,
36:20answering most questions,
36:22to hear this
36:23from your own
36:24Chief Minister,
36:26is there more to it
36:28that meets the eye?
36:33Well, definitely, you know,
36:34Sonal, there is more to it
36:35than what we are seeing
36:36at the moment.
36:37And, you know,
36:37let me tell you,
36:38let's call a spade a spade.
36:39It's the Mardia Janta Party
36:40which actually had
36:41made pollution
36:42and the cleaning of the Yamuna
36:44as some of the major issues
36:45on which they fought the elections
36:47and came back to power
36:48after 27 long years.
36:50So the people
36:51of the national capital
36:52and not just those
36:53who stay in Delhi
36:53but in the adjoining areas also,
36:55they were hopeful
36:56that they will get
36:57some kind of a respite.
36:58The government, however,
36:59let me tell you,
37:00has gone back
37:01on the drawing board
37:01and there are certain
37:02policy decisions
37:03that they are taking.
37:04The government itself
37:05at the moment
37:06is pointing towards the fact
37:07that it will take them
37:08some time.
37:09And let me tell you,
37:10some of the rough estimates
37:11that they have in mind
37:12is at least another year.
37:13That's what BJP insiders
37:15are telling me.
37:16It will take them
37:16at least one more year
37:17to make sure
37:18that they clean up the year
37:19and also to make sure
37:20that they have policies,
37:22firm policies in place.
37:24Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister
37:25Yogi Adityanath
37:26by pinpointing
37:27that it is worse
37:28in the national capital
37:29is actually trying
37:30to tell people
37:30that if you are staying
37:32in Uttar Pradesh,
37:33stay put,
37:33we will get investment
37:34and we will make sure
37:35that the air quality
37:36improves with time.
37:37So a battle of sorts
37:38is taking place
37:39between both
37:39the Chief Ministers,
37:40the central government
37:41keeping a hawk's eye
37:42but also trying to make sure
37:44that they do come up
37:45with certain policies.
37:46But let me tell you
37:46from what I can gather,
37:47Sonal,
37:48it will at least take
37:49another year
37:49for the Delhi government
37:50to get a grip
37:51on the pollution situation
37:52in the entire Delhi-HCR region.
37:54For me,
37:55what's been interesting
37:56is that the Rekha Gupta government
37:57has not responded
37:58to Yogi Adityanath's comments.
38:00So some back-channel coordination
38:01is happening
38:02between the BJP
38:03at the central level
38:04to ensure this does not escalate.
38:06But we'll see
38:06where the story goes from now
38:08for the moment.
38:08Thank you both for joining us.
38:12All right,
38:12let's cut across
38:13to the good news
38:14of the day
38:14that we have for you.
38:16Baby,
38:16barely 10 months of age,
38:18has become Kerala's
38:18youngest organ donor,
38:20giving life
38:20to five people
38:21even as the baby
38:22was laid to rest
38:23with state honours.
38:25Why?
38:26Because the family decided
38:27to allow the hospital authorities
38:28to harvest
38:29the organs
38:30of the little baby
38:31and that is being lauded
38:33as a noble act.
38:34A baby Allen's case
38:36also spotlights
38:37the need
38:37for more awareness
38:38around the shortage
38:39of organs in India
38:41and the need
38:42to come forward
38:42to help patients
38:43in dire need
38:44even if you're
38:45as young
38:46as just 10 months.
38:49Here's a report.
39:0110-month-old baby
39:03Aline
39:04laid to rest
39:05with full state honours.
39:07A mark of respect
39:09to an act
39:09that deserves
39:10just so much appreciation.
39:13The 10-month-old baby
39:14Aline Sharon Abraham
39:17was declared brain dead
39:19on the 13th of February
39:21after meeting
39:22with a road accident.
39:24In an act of magnanimity,
39:26her family
39:27who escaped
39:27with injuries
39:28in the same accident
39:29agreed to donate
39:30the infant's organs.
39:34The baby's organs
39:36has given life
39:36to five
39:37liver
39:38to a six-month-old baby
39:39in Thiruvanthapuram.
39:41Sharon also donated
39:42two kidneys,
39:43a heart valve
39:43as well as her eyeballs.
39:46Kedla Health Minister
39:47Veena George
39:48also attended
39:49the last rites.
39:51The youngest
39:52organ donor
39:53in the state
39:54saw in the
39:55from the
39:56deepness
39:57of their grief
39:58and their sorrow
39:58so it is
40:00it is quite
40:01quite
40:01I don't know
40:03how to
40:03describe that
40:04so it's such
40:05an act
40:06which shows
40:08love
40:08and care
40:09for humanity
40:10which is a model
40:11for many others.
40:14Others
40:15thanked the grieving
40:15parents
40:16and lauded them
40:17for this brave act.
40:19With this gesture
40:20baby Arlene
40:21has become
40:22the youngest
40:22organ donor
40:24in Kerala.
40:25In India
40:25as per the
40:26government data
40:273,000 people
40:28died in the last
40:29five years
40:30waiting for organs.
40:31Right now
40:32the list is a very
40:33long one of patients
40:34waiting for organs
40:35about 82,000
40:36patients
40:36across India
40:38are waiting
40:38for some sort
40:39of the organ
40:39or the other.
40:40There's a huge
40:41demand for kidneys
40:42for example
40:42with 60,000
40:43plus patients
40:44waiting.
40:4518,000
40:46plus patients
40:46are waiting
40:47for liver
40:48in India
40:49the donor
40:49rate is also
40:50poor
40:50at one
40:51per million
40:52population.
40:54Doctors
40:54are relying
40:55heavily
40:55on
40:56live
40:56donations
40:57patients
40:57in fact
40:58who are
40:59getting
40:59these
40:59organs
41:00from their
41:01family
41:01members
41:02but

41:04is to

41:05cadaver
41:06donations
41:07which is
41:07donations
41:08from the
41:09deceased.
41:10The
41:10body organs
41:11by the
41:12specialist
41:12should be
41:14available
41:15at all
41:16district

41:20of the

41:21this

41:22should be
41:23developed
41:23because we
41:24are lacking
41:25that infrastructure
41:26also.
41:26That is
41:27again a
41:27problem.
41:30Baby
41:31Alin's
41:32humanitarian
41:32gesture
41:33sends a
41:34powerful message
