Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome. Good evening. You're watching Super 6 here on India Today.
00:03I'm Akshita Anandha Gopal. We'll be getting you all the top stories that are coming in this Monday evening here
00:09on India Today.
00:10What's coming up on the show? We're focusing on Tabernadu and the big question mark over alliances.
00:16What's playing out between the Congress and DMK?
00:19So far, there's been no sort of conversation, there's been no movement whatsoever between both the parties.
00:25This week almost after, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin made it very clear that power sharing will not happen.
00:31Is the alliance on or off in Tabernadu? We'll break it down for you.
00:35What are the sticking points? What's happening? Will the Congress look at other options too?
00:40I'll be telling you all about that. We'll begin with the top 10 headlines.
00:46The much-anticipated India AI Impact Summit 2026 has kicked off today.
00:50The summit will see world's top tech leaders in attendance.
00:53Prime Minister Modi's expressed immense pride as global leaders, innovators and experts gather in India.
01:01Global tech titans arrived in India for the AI Summit.
01:04Bill Gates, upon his arrival in India, was welcomed by Andhra Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu,
01:09by Pawan Kalyan and Minister Nara Lokesha in Amaravati.
01:12Global leaders, including French President Macron, Brazilian President Ula D'Souza
01:17and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi will also be participating in the summit.
01:22Emmanuel Macron, along with First Lady Bridgette Macron, will touch down in India late tonight.
01:27He will be meeting with Prime Minister Modi tomorrow in Mumbai, followed by MOU exchanges.
01:33Macron will also be attending the AI Impact Summit on Wednesday.
01:38Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Nairnar Nagendran has expressed his regrets over a crass remark that he'd made
01:44after actor Trisha lashed out at him.
01:46The BJP leaders now called his statement a mistake after he had said that Vijay should first come out of
01:51Trisha's house.
01:53Confusion has gripped the Assam Congress ahead of elections.
01:57Former State Chief Bhupen Bora has first tendered his resignation,
02:00then says he'll take a final call tomorrow, even as the Congress maintains that Bora has withdrawn his resignation.
02:08The Supreme Court has refused to entertain a plea against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswasarma.
02:14The top court has asked the petitioners to go to the high court first.
02:17It also says the petitions have been filed for publicity before the Assam elections.
02:22A death trap in Greater Noida claims the life of a toddler.
02:26Three-year-old Devansh drowns in a water-filled pit.
02:29The tragedy comes close on the heels of Noida Techie's death.
02:34A Sessions court in Karnataka has sentenced three men to death after convicting them in the gang rape of two
02:40women,
02:40including an Israeli national and the killing of a male tourist.
02:44This happened in Hampi years ago.
02:46The court pronounced the sentence after holding them guilty of rape and murder.
02:51A 10-month-old from Kerala has become the youngest organ donor.
02:56She saved five lives after being declared brain-dead following a tragic car accident in Kotiya.
03:02But an inspiration for so many across the world,
03:06Kerala Chief Minister Pinerai Vijayan paid tributes to the infant,
03:09who was buried with full state honours.
03:12And the wedding buzz around actors Vijay Devrakonda and Rashmi Kamandana just won't stop.
03:17The duo now is being reported.
03:19We'll tie the knot on February 26th.
03:26Now ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections,
03:29the political battlefield is on fire.
03:31And the biggest question mark right now is whether the Congress-DMK alliance is on or not.
03:37There's a confrontation clearly over seat sharing,
03:40but a bigger confrontation perhaps over power equations.
03:44Sources now say that the Congress is eyeing Puducheri and Kerala over Tamil Nadu.
03:49And it's for the same reason that they intend to be close to TVK Chief Vijay for his support.
03:53There's been a lot of talk that the Congress is essentially keeping Vijay as their plan B.
03:58If the DMK remains adamant on the fact that there's going to be no power sharing,
04:03Congress leader Parani Kumar has stirred the pot further
04:05by backing a possible tie-up with Vijay and his party,
04:08claiming such an alliance could win up to 70 seats and even throw out the DMK.
04:13And then you have Congress MP Manikam Tagore,
04:15who day after day has been targeting the DMK rather publicly,
04:19saying the party is still waiting for seat-sharing talks,
04:22demanding respect from the DMK.
04:25The AIDMK is mocked to all of this,
04:28saying that clearly the DMK is not able to see eye to eye with their own ally.
04:36Sir, even after High Command's decision now,
04:39Manikam Tagore yesterday held a meeting in Madurai
04:41and he has spoken about power sharing, about certain issues.
04:44How was TNCC President you going to react to this?
04:46Sir, already I updated it to the All India Congress Committee.
04:49All India Congress Committee will take a proper action.
04:52Sir, even after High Command's decision now,
04:55Manikam Tagore yesterday held a meeting in Madurai
04:57and he has spoken about power sharing, about certain issues.
05:00How was TNCC President you going to react to this?
05:02Sir, already I updated it to the All India Congress Committee.
05:05All India Congress Committee will take a proper action.
05:11So what's going on between the Congress and the DMK?
05:14Here's what the Congress wants right now.
05:17And this is what essentially many of the sticking points.
05:20Congress wants equal say in decisions, power sharing in the government.
05:24They have no role whatsoever in Tamil Nadu.
05:27And it's been like this for decades.
05:28The DMK has said the focus is on an alliance.
05:32There's going to be no concessions whatsoever.
05:33They want status quo.
05:34There's no question of changing things or of more power being given to the Congress.
05:39The Congress has also said that, you know, while we get alliance seats,
05:44there's no numbers really that comes our way.
05:46That ultimately, if you look at how the Congress contests, it's double digits, 20, 25 seats.
05:51The DMK has said that we are the leaders of this alliance.
05:56We can win with or without the Congress, which is why they're playing hardball right now.
06:00Congress has said at this point that DMK and speaking out at this point does, in fact, lead to certain
06:08issues.
06:08But they're doing it very consciously to send out a message that, look, you may think that we can't contest
06:13on our own, but we are ready to do it.
06:16But the DMK also is making it very clear that we're ready to go ahead and contest alone.
06:21But beyond that also, the other aspect is that Congress believes that to get any respect within the alliance means
06:28that they must be given certain power and certain influence.
06:31The DMK has responded saying we prefer flexibility over power sharing.
06:36As Chief Minister Stalin said very clearly, there's no question of the people of Tamil Nadu accepting power sharing.
06:42Even if you see the AI and DMK, their terms and conditions to their allies are very clear.
06:46The power sharing is simply a big no.
06:48It's always been how politics has played out in Tamil Nadu.
06:52The Congress has said very clearly that while we want power sharing, we want governance roles as well.
06:58The DMK has said exactly what I spoke of.
07:01The Tamil Nadu has never accepted power sharing agreements, power sharing deals.
07:05Anagar Keshav is joining us live from Chennai with more details on this.
07:08Anagar, there's a clear split.
07:10There may be attempts to deny it, but the reality is that the DMK and Congress haven't moved forward with
07:15any sort of dialogue so far.
07:18Is the DMK going to also kind of hit back at all of the charges and all of the narratives
07:23by the Congress that come what may, they want power sharing?
07:29In fact, Akshita, it was the Chief Minister who on India today made it very, very clear that the concept
07:35of power sharing will not sit well with the people of Tamil Nadu and for this state.
07:39So it's very clear that if at all the DMK comes to power, there will not be any sort of
07:44power sharing with Congress.
07:45However, there are few leaders in Congress party that are sort of fanning the flames of rift between the DMK
07:51and the Congress.
07:52Let's take the examples of Manikam Tagore and even Praveen Chakravarti.
07:56These two leaders, every single day, they have continuously been making statements against their own alliance partner.
08:02And that's not really helping the two parties progress in terms of seat sharing talks.
08:06In fact, it's on February 22nd that there is supposed to be a seat sharing meeting happening between the DMK
08:12and the Congress.
08:13And the calls within the DMK circles are growing louder for action to be taken against Manikam Tagore and Praveen
08:19Chakravarti.
08:20In fact, Selva Pirindugai, who heads the Congress for Tamil Nadu, is going to be meeting with AICC Chief Malika
08:26Arjun Karge,
08:26where it's quite likely that this particular issue about these two leaders constantly making statements against the DMK,
08:32that's not really working down in this state, that issue is also likely to be discussed in that crucial meeting.
08:38All right, Anaka, thanks for those details.
08:40As we track really what's playing out, we're also hearing, as Anaka points out,
08:44that there are demands being put forth by the DMK saying,
08:47crack the whip against the likes of Manikam Tagore for speaking out and demanding power sharing.
08:54Crack the whip against the likes of Praveen Chakravarti.
08:57The DMK is putting forth some of these demands, saying talks can happen only if this is done.
09:01Because while you have the Tamil Nadu Congress saying one thing, some of these leaders are saying quite the other.
09:06But is the Congress really serious right now of cutting ties, snapping ties with the DMK?
09:12Can they afford to do it?
09:13Here's essentially what are their options.
09:16They can stay with the DMK, which means essentially it's a safe way out.
09:19You continue with the alliance, you continue with seat sharing,
09:23you push maybe for a few more seats than you got previously, because power sharing is not on the table.
09:27The second option, perhaps a more risky one and a bit of a gamble, is a third front bet.
09:33You tie up with Vijay, split DMK votes and this is something, mind you, that's very much on the table.
09:39Our sources have reportedly, have repeatedly confirmed that the Congress isn't, you know, hell-bent on an alliance with the
09:45DMK.
09:45They're very much open to dumping the DMK and going with TVK as well, to go solo completely.
09:52Now, this is something that they won't be keen on to play on Rahul Gandhi's face, rebuilt Carter base from,
09:58of course, the 1960s.
10:00You've not really seen the Congress being on their own or strong in Tamil Nadu,
10:05so that's a big challenge for them to be actually able to go solo.
10:08What about the DMK?
10:09Why is it that the DMK is insisting right now that there's no way power sharing will happen?
10:15They could go ahead and stall the Congress till elections.
10:17They could move forward with seat sharing talks and then say, at the same time,
10:21there's no clarity whatsoever on power sharing.
10:23We'll cross that bridge when we get there and keep the upper hand as a result.
10:27They could stall.
10:28They're choosing, however, not to do that.
10:30They could also go without Congress.
10:33They've got other allies, regional players with them.
10:35There's high confidence, also messaging involved.
10:39If they do that, they will ensure that they rely on their strong state machinery,
10:43which they very much do, plus other allies.
10:45But this is, let's be clear, very much a gamble for the DMK too.
10:48They do rely on the Congress.
10:50They very smartly consolidate with the Congress.
10:52And so it is important to get those seats in an election where you've got a new player,
10:57where you've got the AIA-DMK also consolidating in a similar manner.
11:00The third option, of course, the safest one, continue with Congress, but it'll be difficult
11:05because then you don't control the narrative.
11:07You agree to power sharing, which, as in fact, Chief Minister Stalin has said,
11:11has never really happened.
11:13And if that's something that, you know, the DMK agrees to,
11:16we'll have to see whether the people are for it or not.
11:19Let me just take you back to what Chief Minister Stalin said last week.
11:23When he was asked about the Congress, he said the alliance will continue,
11:26but said no question of power sharing.
11:28Here's what he said.
11:37A lot of speculation in Delhi that will the DMK Congress alliance fight this election together or not.
11:45Will you share power?
11:46Will you fight the election together?
11:49Stay strong.
11:56You are giving us a big point.
11:58You are saying that you all will fight election together.
12:01Will you share power?
12:06Will you share power?
12:15Will you share power?
12:21And repeatedly they have been saying that the DMK is a slave to BJP.
12:28They are repeatedly saying this but it's not true.
12:31So, in 1999, in the Lok Sabha elections, this DMK went to elections, forming an alliance with the BJP.
12:41So, will it mean that they enslaved themselves with the BJP? It is not that.
12:45So, when you form an alliance, you are not calling it a slavery.
12:49But when we form an alliance, you are calling it slavery.
12:52What is this double standard?
12:56And I would like to say that Stalin is a puppet in the sense of such a people and he
13:02doesn't know that he is a puppet in the face of the North Indian Party.
13:12But still, there is a criticism against your forming alliance with the BJP.
13:16See, I would like to point out that BJP is an all-India party and it has its presence all
13:22over the country.
13:22It has formed the state governments in many parts of the country and that is why it is a strong
13:28party.
13:29We have formed a alliance.
13:42And let's get to you now a shocking remark that's been made by Tamil Nadu BJP leader, vulgar abuse at
13:49a woman Congress MP.
13:51Now, this is Jyothi Mani, the Congress MP who's been targeted and the kind of comments that have been made
13:57against her is horrifying.
13:59On camera, the Tamil Nadu BJP, Neta, resorts to all kinds of vile, abused, sexist comments that I'm not willing
14:06to even read out on national television.
14:09But this is what the BJP leader has spoken of.
14:12While attacking her, attacking her politics, he goes on to make a crass, disgusting, sexist personal remark.
14:30This is a sexually degrading language.
14:48So, it's a threat and public humiliation are used as weapons to push women back into silence.
14:54This is mean to scare women away from politics, from leadership and from democratic participation itself.
15:00But I am not someone to succumb to this kind of thing.
15:03I just put it on a public...
15:04They think actually I should be ashamed.
15:06I should be shamed.
15:08I should shut myself inside four walls of my hope.
15:11But I'm not that kind of person.
15:13Why I just put it in a public domain?
15:15There is nothing for me to be ashamed of.
15:17They have to be ashamed.
15:18They have to be shamed in the public.
15:20And also, we have filed...
15:21Yesterday, my district president has filed a complaint.
15:23There was an FYI filed in the appropriate sections, including the outraging the modesty of the woman and defamation and
15:29the threat.
15:31Ma'am, will you be filing a complaint, Ma'am, at Mr. Sendil Natham?
15:35Yeah, we have already filed a complaint.
15:37My district president has filed a complaint.
15:40The FIR has been filed.
15:41The FIR has been filed.
15:44Second, such comment that's coming from a Tamil Nadu BJP leader.
15:47The previous one, targeting the very popular actor, Trisha Krishnan, who lashed out at the Tamil Nadu BJP chief, Naina
15:54Nagendran.
15:54What exactly did Naina Nagendran say?
15:57To lash out and take a jibe at Vijay, he said, Vijay should first come out of Trisha's house.
16:02And with that crass taunt, you've got now Trisha issuing a statement, pulling him up, saying that it's a distasteful
16:10comment, lashing out, saying you cannot target me over my craft.
16:14The Tamil Nadu BJP chief, right after him, and all of the outrage, has been forced to apologise.
16:19But that doesn't take away from the fact that he made a statement that was completely unacceptable.
16:25And Trisha said exactly that.
16:26She said that the statement was distasteful, the comment inappropriate.
16:29She said that although Vijay was a part of her past, there's no connection with him now.
16:34Trisha also stated that she has no connection with politics for her to be dragged in this manner, into this
16:39entire controversy and the political slugfest between two political leaders.
17:09Let's move on now to Kerala, where again, you've got elections coming up in just about one and a half
17:15months.
17:15There's a political storm that's erupted within the Congress, within the UDF, triggered by party veteran Manish Shankar Ayer.
17:22During his Kerala visit, Ayer lodged sharp attacks on his own party.
17:26He openly praised Pinarai Vijayan and M.K. Stalin for their leadership.
17:30The Congress has distanced themselves, saying they have absolutely nothing to do with Manish Shankar Ayer or his comments, saying
17:36it's personal comments.
17:37But the reality is that he took that a step forward to even go ahead and call KC Venugopalo Rowdy.
17:43Listen up.
17:45Please, sir, pick up the baited that the Congress has dropped.
17:52Party veteran Manish Shankar Ayer has triggered a major political embarrassment for the grand old party.
18:03Can you imagine what is the condition of a party which raises a rowdy like KC Venugopalo?
18:16He launched sharp attacks on the Congress, Rahul Gandhi and even the Kerala unit, even as he openly praised Kerala
18:25CM, Pinarai Vijayan and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
18:30In the presence of the Chief Minister, who I'm sure will be the next Chief Minister,
18:37I renew my plea that in order to reinforce Kerala as the best Panchayati Raj state in the country,
18:49if the India bloc is consolidated, and I think the best man to consolidate it is M.K. Stalin.
19:00Speaking to India today, he doubled down on his charges and reiterated support for Pinarai.
19:06Two civil servants, they laid down what were the achievements of the Pinarai government.
19:12And therefore, it does not seem to me that such an intelligent electorate, as in Kerala, will vote for anyone
19:23else.
19:24I may want them to vote for the UDF, but they're just too intelligent to be cheated.
19:32So they're going to vote for the LDF.
19:34As the controversy grew, the Congress moved swiftly to distance itself from the leader.
19:41Kera said Ayer has had no connection with the party for years.
19:45And Venu Gopal echoed that line, calling Ayer's remarks his personal opinion.
20:00A firestorm, old fault lines exposed.
20:06And another movement of damage control for the grand old party, as crucial state force loom.
20:13The question now, will the Congress prove Manishankar Ayer wrong, or will his words turn prophetic?
20:22Bureau Report, India Today.
20:27The most surprising story has emerged from Egypt of Tamil Brahmi inscriptions, which is ancient Tamil,
20:34inside royal tombs in the Valley of Kings.
20:37And this is, again, evidence of Tamil civilisation's reach globally centuries ago.
20:43In more proof of ancient India's global connections as well,
20:47a Tamil trader's name has been found in some of these inscriptions,
20:50confirming that these Tamil traders actually travelled far beyond previously thought trade routes.
20:56One of those inscriptions actually reads,
20:58Sikkai Koran Varakanta, which translates to Sikkai Koran, came and saw.
21:03And this was 2,000 years ago, in one of the most protected royal complexes,
21:09deep in the tomb area, used for pharaohs, including Ramesses VI.
21:13Now, Sikkai Koran, it is assumed, is a trader's name.
21:17The fact that all of these inscriptions were in Tamil,
21:20confirms that natives from ancient Tamil Agam travelled, not just to both cities,
21:24but well into the heart of Egypt.
21:26And there was active trade between Egyptian kings and ancient India.
21:30But it also establishes, once again, the rich history of Tamil,
21:34the footprint of the ancient Tamil civilisation across the world.
21:41And as I slip into a short break here on Super 6,
21:44I'm leaving you with a video of superstar Ajit Kumar
21:47turning up the heat at the Dubai Autodrome,
21:50where he, in fact, held an event where fans got three laps each
21:55in a Ferrari 488 challenge, with slots selling out in minutes.
21:59Enjoy this video.
22:00Thanks for tuning in.
22:01This film is a very, very, very fortunate.
22:03but, I think, in this film,
22:08think about how to get the streets into the Indians,
22:18because they always get the streets.
22:19When you will see the Indians,
22:28I am very, very fortunate to have been here,
22:31I'm with Ajit Sal.
22:50We're cutting across to the first images coming in of Prime Minister Modi at the AI Impact
22:55Summit in the Bharat Mantapam in the national capital.
22:58Those pictures on your screens there of the Prime Minister entering and interacting with
23:05all of those who are present in the summit there, of all the stalls that are there.
23:11This is the Prime Minister making his way through and also, in a sense, getting a trial
23:16of what several of these entrepreneurs have to offer.
23:21Now, Prime Minister Modi has repeatedly highlighted what really the AI revolution means for India
23:28and how he wants India to be an engine of sorts for this change, which is why he's also putting
23:33the focus on this AI Impact Summit.
23:37You can see some of the trials taking place before the Prime Minister demonstrations of
23:43what they've actually pulled off using the help of artificial intelligence.
23:47This is an event that Prime Minister Modi has put great focus on, which is why you've also
23:54seen world leaders being brought together, the biggest tech leaders from across the world,
23:58all coming together, assembling on this one platform at the World AI Impact Summit in Bharat Mantapam
24:06of the national capital.
24:12And as we continue to get you, these images of the Prime Minister moving from stall to stall
24:17for each of these entrepreneurs who are present.
24:19This is a huge moment.
24:21They're not just getting a chance to pitch to the government what they're doing, but they're
24:25also pitching to the world, essentially.
24:27Because like I said, with the biggest tech leaders coming together at this event, it opens
24:32up a whole avenue of opportunities, of possibilities for these young entrepreneurs and for so many
24:39of these groups who are trying to innovate using the help of artificial intelligence.
24:43With the AI Impact Summit kicking off today, it's going to be, in fact, open over the next few
24:48days.
24:49You're going to be seeing dignitaries streaming in one after another, particularly on the 18th,
24:54which is Wednesday, which is when you'll see the likes of the French President, the Brazilian
24:59President.
25:00You'll also have the likes of Bill Gates and several others visiting the Bharat Mantapam for
25:05this particular summit.
25:06But these are images on your screens from just moments ago of the Prime Minister moving from
25:12one pavilion to another in Bharat Mantapam, getting a sense of the kind of innovation that
25:18Indians have managed to achieve using artificial intelligence.
25:22You see very clearly on most of these stalls, the messaging is about solutions, which is
25:28what the Prime Minister has also put the focus on.
25:31In fact, just about yesterday when he did an interaction with the Press Truster of India,
25:36Prime Minister Modi also spoke about reforms and about artificial intelligence playing such
25:41a big role in that, in the growth of this country and in ensuring that adequate reforms
25:47are brought in.
25:48And in fact, in a very candid moment in that particular interview, he also says that while
25:52we've achieved so much, I'm never someone who's ever fully satisfied.
25:56And that's why you're seeing again a push there by the Prime Minister to get as many people
26:02on board on one stage, one platform to get opportunities to India.
26:08India, of course, with its massive resources, can also step up and ensure that as far as
26:15the AI revolution goes, we lead from the front.
26:18And so while you've seen a whole lot of talk, dialogue really about whether India is really
26:23right up there in the AI revolution, we're taking steps in that effort.
26:29Opportunities, yes, but there is also a need which will happen over the next few days on the
26:33challenges that we've been seeing in bringing in and kind of molding AI into our daily lives.
26:40There is, of course, that big question about what that means when you bring in artificial
26:44intelligence.
26:45Does that mean challenges in also bringing and affecting human resources, human capital?
26:52That's one of those issues that will be addressed.
26:54But you see the Prime Minister right now speaking to Sunil Bharti Mittal also.
26:58And they're in the Airtel stall, which is why you see some of these big business honchos
27:03also present.
27:04And this is interesting, to say the least.
27:06You know, you see young entrepreneurs, you see the likes of some of the biggest business
27:10honchos all together on one stage, in one area, all getting the same opportunity, the
27:17same platform of meeting the Prime Minister, pitching their ideas, showing what they've been
27:21able to do.
27:23Another AI platform, of course, is Servum AI.
27:27And you see the Prime Minister there at that particular stall.
27:30Because, you know, while you hear of artificial intelligence and every one of us uses it one
27:36way or another in our lives, largely almost to the format of open AI, I'm referring to
27:41ChatGPT, of course, or on your WhatsApp, there's so much more that artificial intelligence can bring
27:46to the table, which is something that's unexplored in India as well.
27:50But we're seeing companies making that effort.
27:52We're seeing companies also stepping into this arena, trying to do their bid, revolutionize
27:58how India works.
27:59And for the government to step into that, for the government to play a role in that is also
28:03crucial.
28:06As you can see there on your screens, the Prime Minister continuing to meet with all of the
28:12leaders in artificial intelligence.
28:15It's no longer the future, it's the present.
28:17And that's what the government is constantly stressing on as well with these kind of initiatives.
28:22They've gone all out to ensure that this event is a success, that it sees some of the biggest
28:28voices from across the world coming together.
28:30And the messaging here is very important.
28:32It's about not just us housing or being, in fact, the base of this kind of an event, but also
28:41ensuring
28:41that from there we take off and ensure these ideas take off to kick off a revolution of sorts in
28:48India
28:48where artificial intelligence is the base, where artificial intelligence becomes how India functions
28:55also in a way seamlessly.
28:57Aishwarya Paliwal is joining us with more details on this.
29:00Aishwarya, images on our screens of Prime Minister Modi interacting with so many entrepreneurs,
29:05so many business honchos, which is great to see.
29:08Because, you know, this is one platform that gives so many opportunities to these groups.
29:14Well, you know, Akshita, this is something that the government had been planning for, for
29:18let's see, for at least the past one year.
29:20You know, the last AI summit took place in Paris in 2025, and that is when Prime Minister
29:25Modi had made up his mind that this is something that we will see being done in India.
29:29Also, let me tell you, from the 16th, that is today till the 20th, we will see, you know,
29:34growth opportunities coming in.
29:35The government is very, very clear that it is India, which now is ready to make sure
29:39that it takes on the world when we speak about AI.
29:43And the way in which the world needs to come together, that is also something that the
29:46government has been focusing on over the past few years.
29:50The government believes that this is the right time for India to tell the world where it stands.
29:54And let me tell you, one of the things that we will see happening on the 19th is when
29:58the French president also will be speaking with Prime Minister Nahindam Modi.
30:02Both of them will be here in the pavilion.
30:04We and both of them will be speaking about AI.
30:06And AI in health, Akita, let me tell you, that is something that now has been the focus
30:11point of the government.
30:13You know, Bakitab, we will see the French president also visiting AI, and we will see both of them
30:20speaking about how collaboration can happen between both the countries with regards to
30:25AI in health here and the largest pavilion here also with regards to that, because that
30:31is something that we will see both of them speaking about.
30:34What does India do in terms of healthcare and how will we infuse healthcare along with
30:40AI?
30:41That is also something that will be the focus coming together.
30:44We will see the Prime Minister also speaking in just a couple of minutes.
30:48From now, Prime Minister Modi will be focusing on how India has actually arrived.
30:52The focus at the moment is to make sure that the world understands the importance of AI and
31:00also the safeguarding of AI.
31:02That is something that the world very clearly needs to look at.
31:05Akshita.
31:06To also focus on Aishwarya, what makes this event so huge?
31:09You know, this isn't something we have ever seen in India, but even globally, this is a
31:14massive headline grabbing event simply because of the kind of dignitaries lined up by the
31:19government for the event.
31:20You know, I'm talking about world leaders.
31:22You mentioned Emmanuel Macron, the Brazilian president, Ola D'Souza, De Silva, I beg your
31:27pardon, will be there.
31:28You will have the crown prince of Abu Dhabi.
31:31You have Pedro Sanchez, the Spanish president, also in attendance.
31:35So many global dignitaries combined with tech leaders, which is what makes this event so
31:40unique.
31:41And I actually say, Aishwarya, that this isn't one of a kind for India.
31:45It's actually one of a kind in the world.
31:50Well, definitely, you know, the government has been focusing on, not just now, but over
31:55the past many years, the government's focus has been AI.
31:59In fact, Prime Minister Nayinder Modi, even when he's been speaking with certain ministers,
32:03has been focusing on the importance of AI.
32:05The government believes that data is the new goal.
32:08And very often, Akshita, this is something that we have even seen, how it is technology
32:12which is now helping the nations.
32:13The government also, time and again, has been focusing on and has been saying that we
32:18now need to make that leap.
32:20We now need to move from being a developing nation to being a developed nation.
32:25One of the core things that we will see happening is the AI and the technology on the back of
32:30technology.
32:30We need to do that.
32:31And how we can infuse technology, not just in one sphere, but in different spheres.
32:36You know, Akshita, I was just walking around and one of the things that we have seen over
32:40the past few days is the fact that healthcare is something that we have seen AI look very
32:46strongly at.
32:47In fact, let me tell you, there are robotics also here in a lot of places where we can
32:52see the surgeries happening with the use of AI.
32:55So that is something that the government is very keenly looking at and how the world can
32:59actually come to...
33:00You know, you've been inside Bharat Mandukam.
33:00You've seen the kind of setup there.
33:02But tell me something, you know, of all the stalls that you've seen, which is the one
33:05that impressed you the most?
33:06What's the most unique or interesting innovation using AI that you saw?
33:15Well, the operation, Akshita, let me tell you, that was being done using AI because the
33:19precision is stunning, you know.
33:21It just blows your mind the way in which, you know, we all saw how there was an operation
33:26theater and the precision with which the surgery was being done.
33:30And this is something that the government has been focusing on.
33:33And you must have seen, Akshita, how over the past many budgets, the government has, in
33:37fact, been increasing the spending on AI and on technology.
33:40So that is something that the government's focus point is.
33:43And this is an event that Prime Minister Modi, in fact, let me tell you, his entire team,
33:47all of them were very keenly looking at over the past one year because the last AI summit
33:51that happened in Paris in 2025, that actually was a huge success.
33:56The world came together.
33:57And we have seen these kind of summits happening earlier.
33:59Also, one of them happened in Abu Dhabi.
34:02And the idea is to make sure that the world understands what's exactly happening.
34:07Exchange of technologies, Akshita, let me tell you, that is also something that is very
34:10clearly been the agenda and the focus of the government.
34:13We will see a lot of MOUs also being signed.
34:16And the top leadership with regards to AI also now is in India.
34:21The idea is very, very clear.
34:22We all need to march together and we all need to make sure that there are safeguards that
34:27are being put in place.
34:27And that is something from what I understand Prime Minister Modi will also be touching upon.
34:32He will be touching upon the fact that we all need to make those strides with regards
34:36to technology, but we also need to safeguard data.
34:39That is something that has been the core focus of the government over the past many days.
34:43There's always been a whole lot of talk in India.
34:46And it's been a healthy discourse, of course, about whether India has actually done enough.
34:51At a time of AI revolution, was India kind of lagging behind?
34:54Were other countries leading from the front with startups that focused more on artificial
34:58intelligence?
34:59We're there now.
35:01You know, the AI revolution that everyone's been talking about, India is there.
35:04We're catching up, yes, but we're doing it at an extremely fast pace.
35:08And the government's role in that is extremely crucial as well in providing that necessary
35:12support, which is what Aishwarya's an event like this does.
35:15You know, when you put up these stalls in a Bharat Mantapam, you get a chance to present
35:19to the Prime Minister.
35:20That's the world's eyes on you.
35:22That opens up literally a world of opportunities for so many of these companies.
35:27And that's what stands out for me.
35:28You know, you see these massive companies with the likes of Sunil Bharti Mittal speaking
35:32to the Prime Minister.
35:33And then you have these smaller startups also getting a chance to pitch to the Prime Minister.
35:37And that's such a unique platform, you know, for so many of these companies that would
35:42have perhaps felt completely ignored right up until now.
35:45And now they know the government is listening, that the world is listening.
35:52Well, definitely, you know, the other thing that we will see after the end of this summit
35:58is the fact that a lot of startups, and that's something that the government has been focusing
36:01on.
36:02The government actually understands that there are many, many startups, especially with regards
36:06to AI, they will also get a push.
36:08The government, in fact, Akshita, has been pushing the private sector, has been pushing
36:12the smaller players to make sure that they have a competitive edge.
36:16And how do you understand what's happening in the world when these kind of pavilions are
36:19set up in India?
36:20So that exchange of technology obviously is now taking place.
36:23But Indian startups are also understanding what's happening, not just in India, not just
36:28in Asia, but across the world, what's happening globally.
36:32So the players in India will understand that, and that, in fact, will help them in making
36:36sure that their products are at par.
36:39In tandem, we will also see the top heads, the top CEOs, all of them speaking about the
36:44fact that safeguarding of data, that is also something that needs to be done.
36:48See, we all understand that when we speak about India, the government has been very,
36:51very clear the use of AI pictures, the use of data, and also the misuse, rather, that we
36:57have seen happening over the past few days.
37:00Pakshita, if you remember, a lot of women MPs, in fact, have been raising this issue.
37:04They have been speaking about the fact that Grok and AI, all of them are now being used,
37:08and some videos and pictures have started doing rounds.
37:11So that is also something that the government now needs to focus on.
37:14What can be done, not just in India, but globally, that will be the focus point when we will see
37:19the interactions of the top leadership take place.
37:21No, you're right.
37:21You know, regulation, challenges, all of that will also come up in the conversations, hopefully,
37:26that we see spanned over the next few days at the AI Impact Summit.
37:31But, you know, the Prime Minister, while speaking about AI, which I say doesn't just stand for
37:36artificial intelligence, it's linked so closely to India's growth that you could say AI stands
37:41for Atmanirbar India, that you could say AI stands for accelerating India, right?
37:47So you get that connect where essentially even intrinsic to the India story is the right
37:52use of artificial intelligence.
37:54Many countries have done it.
37:55They've seamlessly ensured that AI is kind of plugged into their systems.
37:59For India, to some extent, it's happened, but a lot more can be done.
38:03And with such a large population, AI can do wonders and transformation in innovation, in ease
38:09of living, ensuring better standards of living, so much that AI can actually contribute to.
38:14And yes, when you talk of challenges, there is that one challenge that everyone's questioning
38:18about whether it takes away, you know, opportunities from youngsters, from the youth.
38:25Contract, you know, contradict that with what the Prime Minister said, Aishwarya, which is
38:31that he said that, you know, artificial intelligence is something that creates opportunities for youngsters.
38:36So the government and the Prime Minister are making it very clear that rather than looking at it
38:40as something that steals your jobs, that could be a threat to you, embrace it.
38:48Well, you know, embracing is something that Prime Minister Modi and the top leadership of
38:52the BJP, they have been focusing on.
38:54They believe at the moment what we all need to do is to make sure that we look at opportunities,
38:59but opportunities that do not harm the citizens, opportunities that do not lead to those kind
39:04of morphed videos and pictures that we have seen. A lot of them, in fact, you know, a lot
39:08of them doing ground. So, and this is something which not just the Indian government at the
39:12moment, Akshwarya is looking at, but we are seeing how the governments worldwide are also
39:17now grappling with this issue. They are also looking at making sure that there are some kind
39:21of barricades that have been put, some kind of global rules that are now being brought into
39:26force. And that's the reason why the CEOs of the top tech companies, they are the ones
39:30who then come into the picture. The government now will be speaking with them. And this is
39:35something that the world largely is looking at, a global framework of sorts that India,
39:40let me tell you, is leading on this point. Prime Minister Modi, time and again, not just
39:43in India, but at various other places, has spoken about the fact that yes, technology is
39:48our friend, but we also need to very closely look at what's happening and the kind of harmful
39:53impact that has had. Let me also tell you, Akshwarya, something that the government at the
39:56moment is looking at. You would have seen how young children, 10 years,
40:0012 years old, all of them have phones in their hands, a need to make sure that they are safe,
40:05their data is protected, their pictures are safe. That is also something that will be
40:09the focus point in the global AI summit that we are seeing taking place here in the national
40:13capital.
40:14Bakshita.
40:14And as Akshwarya gets us those updates, I'll go across to your namesake, Akshwarya Patil
40:20of Business Today, who's joining us on this broadcast. She's joining us live from the Bharat
40:25Mantapam, which is where the AI Impact Summit has kicked off.
40:29Akshwarya, I started off by asking Akshwarya Paliwal about what her experience was like
40:35inside Bharat Mantapam, which was the stall that excited her the most. What was the most
40:40innovation she saw? So, I'd love to know from you, Akshwarya, what did you think?
40:44Right. As far as today was the first day, of course, and Prime Minister Modi was there to
40:52arrive at 5pm. So, as you can see, the visuals, he's already going through some of the exhibits
40:58there. All the big tech companies, including Google, Microsoft, Meta, all of them have set up
41:06their exhibits. But they will be open to the public only after tomorrow, because it's only been
41:12inaugurated by the Prime Minister this evening. And as Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in the past had said,
41:21the AI ecosystem in India will attract more than $70 billion. So, as to develop our compute and
41:30all sorts of indigenous AI technology. So, so far, that's been the update. We saw this morning,
41:38the bigwigs of the tech giants. Of course, Google's Sundar Pichai will be attending. He's also holding,
41:46Google is also holding a summit on the 18th, the day after. So, we'll be getting you all the updates
41:52from there. And we saw some of the ministers also receive.
41:56Okay, apologies. I don't think Akshwarya can hear me, but we're going to continue getting you some of
41:59those reports from Bharat Mantapam and outside. Huge security ring, of course, as the Prime Minister
42:04has reached there, the Bharat Mantapam. He's going to be speaking anytime now at the AI Impact Summit.
42:10This is as big as it gets. You know, everyone's been talking about AI revolution. It's here. It's
42:16here in India and the government doing everything they can to bring the focus to India as well.
42:22We're global leaders, tech leaders, all coming together on this one platform, this one stage.
42:28Like I said, it's as big as it gets.
