00:09The victims were his father, Naveen Chandra Bhatt, a retired Indian Navy captain,
00:14and his mother, Dr. Shyamala Bhatt, a practicing dentist. According to Bengaluru City Police,
00:19the violence was triggered by a financial dispute. Rohan, who had returned from the US
00:23three years ago and was reportedly unemployed, allegedly demanded 4 lakh to fund a startup.
00:28When his parents refused and questioned his lack of stable work,
00:31an argument escalated into a fatal knife attack around 7.30am. Neighbors rushed the injured
00:36couple to Manipal Hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival. After his arrest,
00:41Rohan reportedly showed unstable behavior and gave contradictory statements.
00:45A preliminary evaluation suggests possible schizophrenia. He has now been referred to
00:49National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences for psychiatric assessment.
