00:26So, Essence.com fashion and beauty director Julie Wilson is here to show us some fun and
00:30easy DIY ways to achieve trendy and creative Halloween costumes.

00:37You know, I'm not used to hair, but I feel like I can get used to this.

00:49Before we get into our fashion show, Julie, do you have any tips for DIY costumes that you
00:54may do at home?
00:55Yeah.
00:56I mean, I always look for, I look in my closet first, and I see what I have, and then I'm
01:00like, what can I use in this closet to make something else?
01:03Like, an Adidas tracksuit, you can be like Run DMC, a member of Run DMC, or like the Royal
01:07Tannenbaums.
01:08Or if you have like funky, like glittery stuff and sparkly stuff, you can be a rock star.
01:14Right.
01:15And who doesn't want to be a rock star?
01:16Right.
01:17I feel like you can kind of just look in your closet and see what you can create, but that's
01:21what's bringing us to all of these amazing outfits today, right?

01:27Today's costumes have a theme.
01:28They're all inspired by one of this year's biggest hits, Beyonce, the Lemonade album.
01:33This should be lots of fun.

01:35Pay attention out there, Essence Live.
01:36Our first costume is based on the Sorry, I Sorry video when Beyonce is dancing on the
01:41car.
01:42Let's have Rafat come on out and show us her look.
01:44Yes, Rafat looks amazing.
01:46I love the texture.
01:47And so with all of these costumes, there's three key elements that kind of make them.
01:52So with this sorry look, we're going with the makeup, the necklace, and the jacket.
01:57So you have to have the tribal makeup, which is very easy, the dots down the face, her amazing
02:03bib necklace, which is just stunning, and you can wear that obviously after Halloween,
02:09and her jacket, which again, you can wear again.
02:11And the most expensive thing in this whole entire look is the jacket, which we thrifted
02:16and it's $24.

02:19Now that, actually I would wear this not on Halloween too.

02:23Hashtag, I'm just saying.

03:10I think it has to be a lot of fun too to thrift and kind of dig and take your friends with

03:16But like to find, I mean, that's a beautiful fur stole.

03:20You can wear that again and again and again.

03:22It just makes you feel like a million bucks.

03:33swinging her baseball bat and looking super, some say cray, but I think she looks fierce.

03:42This is my favorite look.
03:43I mean, I think this was everyone's favorite look from the whole Lemonade album.
03:47You better twirl it.
03:48But look at this beautiful yellow dress.
03:50You could definitely wear this after Halloween, but it is perfect.
03:54Everyone is going to know that you were wearing, like that you're Beyonce.

03:59So the elements of this outfit are obviously the yellow dress, the baseball bat and the wig.

04:07You have to have like an iconic.

04:11Like you have to have a blonde Beyonce wig for this.

04:14But the bat, look at you swinging that girl.
