00:00I am partnering with Pfizer and the American Cancer Society for a new kind of series,
00:07one where people who have lived with cancer share their favorite family recipes and the
00:13powerful stories behind them. My mother's favorite time of year was Christmas. I'm
00:18making salmon croquettes. This might be the only recipe of my mom that I know by heart.
00:21She passed away first thing Christmas morning. Oh, I am so sorry. Yeah, it was rough. For a
00:27couple years, I didn't really celebrate Christmas. I am the third woman in as many
00:32generations in my family to be diagnosed with breast cancer. My mother, you know, my
00:37mother didn't tell me that she had cancer. So we never got to have those
00:41conversations. So what I do now is when I cook with my children, that is my time to
00:47have those conversations. I don't want them to be afraid of cancer. How important
00:52it is to pass down these recipes. You're able to open up and have hard conversations.
00:59Food is love, food is joy, and this extra 20 pounds on my hips. There's so many things.
