00:00I want to talk about blackness in the media and black celebrity specifically it's been a huge
00:08topic of conversation right now because Beyonce's black she's made some statements in her formation
00:14video which actually as a Louisiana girl hit very close to home for me you know Katrina New Orleans
00:20Police Department the stop shooting us of Black Lives Matter references and of course Cam Newton
00:26all this happening around Super Bowl time ironically making comments about grits and things of that
00:32nature and collard greens things that seem to make the general public if you will uncomfortable
00:37so why do you think that is I mean it's kind of obvious their ethnic group but if anyone please
00:43feel free just jump right on in this is kitchen table talk um personally I think that we've been
00:48trying to get the message of you know black culture out for so long and the things that happened to us
00:53you know in America that we chose Super Bowl as the biggest platform for us to really express
00:58our message you know Beyonce is not the biggest activist and Cam Newton's not the biggest activist
01:02but if they can sprinkle some kind of message in there like Beyonce did with her Super Bowl performance
01:06I see no issue you know we're not saying it's us versus them it's just saying hey these are the
01:11problems that we're going to address through our art but don't you think that's what maybe made so
01:15many people uncomfortable because like Beyonce was the safe black girl you know she's the girl next
01:19door you're like oh she's cute she's your one black friend that can come to the birthday party
01:22you know what I mean she was also your one black friend that everyone aspired to be so you know
01:29when you speak with any celebrity of any strike they're all like we bow down to Beyonce right we
01:33all want to be Beyonce when I grow up everyone from Taylor Swift to anyone on down true so the fact
01:38that Beyonce someone who has who has sort of been one of the poster children for being post-racial
01:44was so overtly black it was a right turn overtly black statement that she's ever made in her career
01:52it was I think jarring to a lot of people because a lot of people had essentially forgotten that
01:58Beyonce was black they're just worried about her influence the fact that she's able to reach so
02:03many people on both sides of the coin it's like wait a minute we have another one that's that big
02:09that can influence how my little Becky could think and wake her up to oh what's what what is black
02:15lives matter oh wait a minute if Beyonce likes my lipstick color and I find out like who Huey P
02:23Newton is that can be a problem within the households of America sometimes and for her to be so outspoken
02:31on women's rights for her to go on the black route that's just I think that might have even draw it and
02:37I don't we don't know yet but I wonder what her endorsements are going to be like coming out of
02:42this oh that's interesting the business side don't you feel like Beyonce has gotten to a point in her
02:46career where she can take those type of risks because if she never makes another album again if she
02:51never makes another dollar again she's good Blue Ivy's good if Jay-Z never makes any money again
02:57she's like I got you right we're going to Red Lobster we're going to do in the helicopter
03:01she's like I got her biscuits you know for the cheddar biscuits like she's got the cheddars
03:06and the cheddar biscuits looking at her legacy so she can say what she wants to say now and isn't that
03:11the definition of F you money right like I got this now I can truly say what I want to say
03:17as a celebrity they really have no choice everyone's always going to hate on anything that they do but
03:22what I find interesting is that someone like Trump can go out and openly say racist things and those
03:29same people who are trying to protest Beyonce who actually didn't even show up two people showed up
03:33two people showed up it was probably just like no it was like some some old guy and I think like his
03:39wife or something they were outnumbered obviously right but where were they when Trump says things
03:44like he wants to close the border and he says racist things about Muslims so I mean it's just interesting
03:50that we see this reaction when Beyonce is talking about things that are actually happening in this
03:56country kids are actually being shot by police officers these are facts these are facts
