00:02Two people are dead after a passenger jet collided with a fire truck on a runway at New York's LaGuardia
00:08Airport.
00:09The crash happened late Sunday night as an Air Canada Express flight, the one you see right there, arrived from
00:16Montreal.
00:17Authorities say the plane struck a Port Authority rescue and firefighting vehicle that was responding to a separate incident.
00:23The pilot and co-pilot on the Air Canada plane were killed.
00:27Several passengers were injured and two people inside the fire truck were also hurt.
00:32The aircraft, a CRJ-900, was carrying more than 70 passengers and four crew members.
00:38Flight tracking data shows the plane had just landed and was slowing down on the runway when it hit the
00:44vehicle.
00:45Officials say the jet was traveling at a low speed at the time of the collision.
00:49Emergency crews flooded the runway within minutes.
00:52Photos from the scene show heavy damage to the nose of the aircraft, with emergency vehicles surrounding the plane.
00:59The Port Authority says it activated emergency response protocols immediately.
01:04The FAA issued a ground stop shortly after the crash, shutting down LaGuardia overnight.
01:10The airport is expected to remain closed until at least 2 p.m. today.
01:14Travelers are being told to expect significant delays and cancellations throughout the day.
01:19The National Transportation Safety Board is sending a team to investigate.
