00:00Hello there welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met
00:03office now we have snow and ice and snow warnings through tonight and into
00:07tomorrow we have a slow-moving band of rain pushing northwards as we head
00:11through the night hence the reason why as the rain encounters that cold air
00:14especially over a higher ground you like to see some snow with the risk of
00:18slippery surfaces we also have a snow warning covering much of central and
00:22eastern areas of Scotland now here with that relentless southeast wind driving
00:28the clouds and rain readily turning to snow above around 100 meters 1 to 3
00:32centimeters much more than that above 200 meters and with the strength of the
00:36wind expects some blizzards and drifting Shetland also has a snow warning and at
00:42low levels we'll like to see some snow at a higher elevations up to 10 to 15
00:47centimeters and even at sea level along the coastline here through the night as
00:52the air temperature drops we are we could see a mix of rain and snow so some
00:57wintry conditions for some as we head through into Wednesday certainly a cold
01:02biting wind along this eastern side gusty over any hills and mountains with low
01:07pressure sitting towards more southern and southwestern areas and a real
01:11delineation in terms of how it feels out there as we head into Wednesday much
01:16milder further south but with that this slow-moving band of rain continues we're
01:21likely to see only slowly nudging in across southern Scotland through the night
01:26again snow over the higher ground there and this strong southeasterly wind
01:31affecting particularly the eastern side of the country but over the hills and
01:35mountains turning gusty into the early hours of the morning then the snow will
01:39accumulate especially at modest and higher elevations and it turns murky further
01:45south the cold start to the day some drier weather particularly across the
01:49Midlands southeast England with that low cloud some showers though just drifting
01:53across the sky across the west country southern parts of Wales and this wet
01:58weather starts the day across more central parts of England up towards
02:03central and southern parts of Scotland and also Northern Ireland so a wet
02:08morning here with that snow tricky conditions if you're traveling first thing
02:13thing with some slippery surfaces and through the day the snow line will
02:17gradually rise and that means that snow turning back to rain at lower levels but
02:23even so we hang on to that wintryness at higher levels through the day notice
02:28though through the afternoon a clearance coming in across much of England and
02:32Wales so some dry skies even some broken cloud allowing for some brighter
02:36weather so a few showers lurking down to Cornwall and a gusty wind over the the
02:41moors here as well southern parts of Wales the rain will be slow to clear Northern
02:46Ireland a legacy of cloud through the afternoon and that rain will nudge
02:50northwards across western parts of Scotland through the day so this is
02:54where the wet weather will be wintry over the mountains there and that cold
02:59southeast wind so through the afternoon that's how we see the weather drier
03:05skies emerging across the south as temperatures arrive around 10 degrees
03:09Celsius across the southwest central southern parts of England but four or five
03:13along this east coast add on the strength of the wind feeling even colder than that
03:17so that's the picture on Wednesday afternoon and into evening time through
03:23Wednesday evening and overnight yet again we see this rain with this hill snow
03:28pushing northwards and that strong southeast wind a little bit of rain in the
03:33mix where the clouds thick enough particularly over the hills of northern
03:38England southern Scotland as we head through into Thursday with weather fronts
03:43towards the south outbreaks of rain here this area of low pressure is slow
03:48moving through but Thursday and into Friday notice so that cold air sitting
03:53across Scotland and again the risk of some hill snow so through Thursday
03:58outbreaks of rain across more central and southern parts of the country again
04:02moving northwards with a brisk wind we'll see that southeasterly wind deliver
04:08that cloud as well as the rain and hill snow across central and eastern areas of
04:11Scotland further west we're under some drier skies but for Northern Ireland yet
04:16again a blustery breeze outbreaks of rain making for some unpleasant
04:21conditions if you are out and about with surface water issues continuing and
04:26that would be the same further south through the morning temperatures in the
04:29south up to 10 degrees Celsius cold on this eastern strip four to five at the
04:34very best and that's how we see Friday and Saturday slow moving area of low
04:39pressure showery bursts of rain sort of surging around it and temperatures in
04:44the east and northeast up to around five degrees Celsius ten further south and
04:48west wherever you are take care and I'll see you again soon
