00:37Also, shout out to Planet as well as they've helped us make our way here for the big game here at Radio Row.
00:47It's always a good time here.
00:48It's kind of the calm before the storm on a Monday.
00:51There's a few folks here, but it really picks up as the week continues.
00:59And it'll be a good time around here.
01:03But we appreciate you all rolling with us.
01:05713-572-4610.
01:07You can be a part of the show.
01:09Also, YouTube and Twitch.
01:11As I see a lot of people in here, everybody's talking about Clint.
01:13Mack Jones is that guy.
01:15Mack Jones is that guy.
01:17Yeah, let Mack Jones come in.
01:19He can be the Sammy Darnold.
01:20Well, there's no doubt there are, you know, there's more than one person in that system that I guess thought he would be a good fit in New England.
01:29He's a starter next year, right?
01:30You think?
01:32Man, I think.
01:33I'm trying to think.
01:34Well, first, I guess, let me look at their teams.
01:37That's the deal.
01:38That's where I was going to go with it.
01:39You've got to look at what teams out there are in that limbo of where they don't have their starter.
01:46New Orleans.
01:47New Orleans has got their guy.
01:48I know they.
01:49You think they like Tyler?
01:50Yep.
01:50I think that's their guy.
01:54Got significantly better as the season went along.
01:56Arizona.
01:56He got run.
01:57Arizona, what are they going to do with Kyler?
01:59You look up in New York, what are they going to do with their quarterback situation with the Jets?
02:04The Jets.
02:05Yeah, I mean, I think there's about four or five programs out there, organizations out there that are even potential.
02:14So, you hear Justin Jefferson, is Minnesota an option or something?
02:17Yeah, like, yeah, there's some, there's some, there's Pittsburgh.
02:22I mean, we'll see what they, what they do.
02:24But I think, yeah, I think Mack Jones, Mack Jones seems like the next, the next one in line of the guys that, that was a starter that they gave up, they gave up on and they had to, they had to move on from.
02:35Yep.
02:36And gets his second chance to be a starter.
02:39He was in Jacksonville and then in San Francisco.
02:41And he played really well in San, I think he went like five and one or something.
02:45Yeah, he played well.
02:46Look, I'll tell you, I will be, I would be surprised if, if, if they move a different direction off C.J. Stroud.
02:55But if they did, I would be shocked it wasn't with somebody that's in house.
03:02What do you mean?
03:02Like in the house right now?
03:04Yeah.
03:04I think, I think a big part of, if, and when that move is ever made where they get off of C.J. Stroud, I think it's because they believe in Davis Mills enough to do what they want a quarterback to do.
03:14I don't think it's going to be a roll of the dice to go see who they can land and to be the next Sam Darnold.
03:19I feel like they, I feel like the only way you move is if you know, you know, I've got an answer.
03:24Um, and, and that is now, now you may go that route and then say, well, whoa, somebody else popped and you got another better option to bring in.
03:33And then all of a sudden you got a real competition or something.
03:35But I don't believe that that ever happens unless they are uber confident in Davis Mills, which I think they are.
03:43Yeah.
03:43All right.
03:44Um, I want you, uh, I want you to think, think, kind of think through this in your mind, when you think about the upcoming draft for the Texans.
03:53What in your mind are you thinking like, this is what they have to add?
03:58I don't need you to say it out loud, but just in your mind, you're thinking like, these are priorities.
04:02This is, this is what the Texans need to add to their team.
04:07We go to the draft.
04:08This is in my mind.
04:09Like, I think certain teams understand it.
04:13PF as the Texans taking a tackle.
04:16God, I love this first name Monroe.
04:18I just, uh, I just didn't know we, I didn't know people were still being named Monroe, but, uh, you got some old school folks now.
04:25Monroe, Monroe Freeling out of Georgia and then a guard, uh, out of Oregon.
04:31That's the first two picks.
04:32First round, second round.
04:34They go tackle guard is what PFF has them going.
04:37In your mind, is that, is that what you think is going in the draft?
04:42Now, obviously we don't know what they're going to do in free agency, which could kind of change into that.
04:45But going into the draft, is that in your mind, like this is the route they need to go O-line, O-line first two rounds.
04:52Their top two premium picks need to be O-line.
04:56Is that what you were thinking in your head?
04:58713-572-416, YouTube and Twitch, you can jump in on that.
05:03Yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to it.
05:04But I'm one also that is, is, as you know, I'm, I'm not, I don't, I didn't watch the Texans all year long and, and go, boy, if this offensive line would just wasn't trash,
05:15we would, we would be better.
05:16Like, I watched those guys get all year long.
05:19Once they settled in and, and quit rotating two left guards that weren't going to be your left guards, once they quit doing that, you know,
05:26I think things settled in.
05:27And I think you can, you can play winning football with, with that offensive line.
05:34I would not have a problem at all.
05:35Now, the draft goes, goes in with free agency.
05:37And what do they do with Ed Ingram?
05:39What do they do with Titus Howard?
05:40What do they do?
05:41Not, not contractually, but just position wise.
05:43That's what they do with Titus Howard.
05:44All that stuff's got to make sense and work together.
05:47But I wouldn't have a problem at all from a draft perspective if the Texans looked at this thing and said,
05:52we're going to go after two offensive linemen with our most premium picks in this year's draft.
05:56I'll be honest.
05:57In my mind, I feel like they need a weapon.
06:01Right now, but obviously, you know, it doesn't necessarily mean that weapon is immediately going to be able to,
06:12to be that type of person that you need.
06:15But it feels like, it feels like they didn't have enough weapons last year.
06:20They didn't, something, in some form or fashion.
06:22I know Tank is potentially coming back.
06:25Joe could come back.
06:26But we, those are guys I don't think you can just say, I know what they're going to be.
06:30It feels like a weapon and I'll be, they need a weapon.
06:34And I'll be honest, I think it's because they have been, for the most part, so horrific at drafting linemen
06:40that it is maybe the last thing that I want to see them draft.
06:44And I think, I think that is partly why when I look at this and I'm like, yeah, I could, I could see how someone can arrive at like,
06:54yeah, they need to draft linemen, but damn it, like, like they've had a lot of bites at the apple.
07:01Like, from drafting, from free agency, like, they've had a lot of bites at the apple.
07:07Like, including to the point where, like, two guys that they brought in last year didn't even make it to Thanksgiving, I don't think.
07:15And Tomlinson and Cam, like, I just, and they're just, I mean, it's, you've drafted two tackles in the second round the last two years.
07:25Like, like, that one is hard for me to then say, let's go, let's go draft two more.
07:31And I can understand when you look at the offense, that might be one of the biggest issues.
07:35But they are, they are, I think, they seem to just not have enough on the outside or, or, or just weapon-wise in general,
07:45where it just feels like, it feels like that's just overkill.
07:49That's four linemen that you would have drafted in the last three years with premium picks.
07:54Well, here, but here's the thing, you're going to have to, if you're entertaining paying somebody $55 to $60 million a year at quarterback,
08:01you're going to have to prepare to not, you're not going to be able to keep Titus Howard around as a, as a guard slash tackle.
08:08You're not, you're not going to be able to, you know, to, to, to re-up guys like Ed Ingram.
08:15Ed Ingram's fixing to make some money.
08:16I mean, if, if you're going to pay a quarterback $56 million, you've got to get significant play out of those young dudes.
08:23They've got to get better, they've got to, but not necessarily better, but you've got to get something out of Jalen Noel.
08:28You've got to get more out of Higgins.
08:29You've got to get, you know, something, something out of, out of, you'd love to get something out of Cade Stover.
08:34You've got to get something out of, out of obviously your, your left tackle, your young left tackle.
08:39And you're going to have to do more with less with guys like Jake Andrews and guys like they had this year.
08:43So they've got to get younger and I just, you know, they're, they can't quit drafting an offensive line just because they missed on a few.
08:51They can't quit bringing those guys in, you know, free agency because they missed on a few.
08:55So I, I don't have a problem with them addressing the offensive line problems aggressively, whether it's in the draft or free agency.
09:01Yeah, I'm not saying they have to stop, but again, like, like at some point, like your missus is just like, all right, well, we just, we're just going to keep throwing it, throwing it, throwing it at it, huh?
09:14No, they're, they're like, we're going to like, how many, like Ursary that, that seems to be one that, that is a, that's been a good one for, for year one.
09:24Right. Right. But it's just like, damn, like both of them, someone texted the Texans weapon should be an offensive line that can protect the quarterback.
09:32Okay. But, but also, I mean, they're just like, I mean, they, I mean, they have got to, they have got to get more answers on the outside.
09:40I think there were injuries obviously that hit, but as you said, you're going to, are you going to pay Dalton Schultz forever?
09:47Are you going to like, I think that extends to a, to a lot of spots.
09:50There's going to come a time when you're not able to pay those guys.
09:53And the easiest way to, to navigate a quarterback making 50 plus million dollars a year is to have, get, get a lot of production out of players, their first and second year and third year, obviously, but, but first and second year of getting the league.
10:09And, and they've, you know, they, they've got to, they got to do that because you're coming down the pike, you know, is, is right now it's Ed Ingram, but I don't, I don't know when, I'm not looking at Titus Howard.
10:20It's contract numbers, but when that happens, it's not, you know, you're not going to be able to just keep paying, rattling these guys off money.
10:26Hell, I almost think they got a better shot at getting those that the Ed Ingrams of the world that, because I mean, Clint, I mean, we're looking at it.
10:33Well, man, this is, this is, if they were to do this, they would have dragged, if they were to go one, two with O-line, that is first and second round.
10:43Last year, second round with Ursary.
10:46The year before that, it's, it's a second round with Blake Fisher.
10:50The year before that, it's, it's second round and moved up and gave up picks to get, to get Juice Scruggs.
10:57Like, like, damn, man, that's, that's before we even got to the first, like one of the first picks was clearly Kenyon Green.
11:05Like, it's just, I mean, I, you know, I don't, I don't know.
11:09It's a, it's a tough one to watch.
11:10Text line coming through.
11:12As much as it pains me, I have to agree with the show.
11:15We're running back or wide receiver that can get their hands on the ball and get you 60 yards.
11:20Gus and Katie.
11:21Gus, what the hell do you mean as much as it pains you?
11:24Why does it, why does it, why does it pain you to agree with me?
11:29Like, why does it pain you?
11:30I mean, the hell with your point, Gus, the hell is it pain you for?
11:34Well, here's, here's the interesting thing.
11:36It's a different caveat to the conversation though, right?
11:39To me is if, if Gus, if you're looking for, and I, and I, I know it happens with rookies,
11:45but if you're looking for immediate production out, out of a, a, any player, but a skilled player for sure,
11:55you're going to, well, I think it's more fair.
11:59Let's say that to expect it from a guy that is a free agent.
12:02That's got a proven track record that, you know, can, can win at this level versus a guy that you bring in,
12:08you draft and bring him in here and hell, he might be a return specialist instead of getting on the field at a slot receiver spot.
12:13Right.
12:13I mean, the, the, the, the, the, the crap shoot of the draft, I think is, is very real here.
12:20And if we're talking about guys, you need to, you need to, that's the conversation is where,
12:25where do the Texans need guys that you could be more patient with at what positions can you be more patient with?
12:33And, and where do they need guys that you need immediate production and how do you address those?
12:40Right.
12:40I mean, I think the Ariante Ursary thing is great, but getting a second round draft pick that, that plays immediately stays healthy and is never overwhelmed throughout the year.
12:51I mean, you're looking at a number four or five overall pick and Will Campbell at, at, at, with the Patriots getting overwhelmed consistently in the last two or three games.
12:58Right.
12:59So Ariante Ursary is really an outlier.
13:01I think, I think more of your second and third round picks are going to end up being like Higgins to know somewhere in their kind of deal.
13:09So I don't know.
13:10I just, me personally, when I look at the Texans, I look at it as if, if I expect immediate production, I want to go get something that I know.
13:17I don't want a developmental player.
13:19I don't want no middle round draft pick.
13:21If we, if, if you're talking like, I think the running back position needs to be a bona fide dude in this league.
13:27Now I'm not saying he's got to be a tier one running back, hopefully Joe Mixon, but if not, you know, that,
13:31that that's got to be a bona fide dude that I know, Hey, I'm getting a one B to Woody Marks, or I'm getting a one and, and Woody Marks is a two.
13:39Like you, that, that you need to know exactly what you're getting.
13:42See, that's the position to me.
13:44Like I, I, I'm not saying maybe round one, but round two, like that's the position to me where we see running backs.
13:51We watched it with Woody.
13:52They, that is a position that tends to enter the league that shows production.
13:57And if everything around them is right.
13:59Yeah.
13:59It shows production and they, like, they could use something like they use something.
14:04And that, and that, and that part of the, the, the team, like, as you said, it's a one, two.
14:08But, but, but again, to me, like you got, like, if I personally, I believe that you, like this team to, for this offense to make,
14:14take the next step from a personnel, personnel standpoint, I don't think it's an offensive line.
14:19Right.
14:19I mean, sure.
14:20Offensive linemen would help.
14:21Absolutely.
14:21Paying a bunch of a center and a guard would absolutely go a mile.
14:24No doubt.
14:25If you finally hit, you know, hit a, hit, hit a good one.
14:27Yeah, no doubt.
14:28But, but you can sign it.
14:29You can pay $20 million a year for your left guard.
14:31And then your center ain't worth the damn.
14:32And he can't communicate.
14:33Your quarterback doesn't communicate as well as you'd like him to.
14:35And that's money.
14:36I mean, it's, it's, it's not going to produce as much.
14:40To me, a bona fide running back with this team.
14:42We saw it a year ago, what Joe Mixon did to a team and how Joe Mixon took a team from, I mean, really, there's not, there's not much that's going to scare you outside of Nico Collins.
14:53All of a sudden, you insert Joe Mixon into that thing and he's made something out of nothing.
14:57And he is, he punishes teams.
14:59Do you get to the fourth quarter?
15:00You've worn them down.
15:01I mean, he, he, he impacts your entire huddle every time, just by the, his, his being, his existence in the huddle changes the huddle.
15:08So, like, if you're looking for that kind of guy, which is, I think that's what this team needs.
15:12We don't need no more good guys.
15:13We don't need more dudes that can play a little bit.
15:14We don't need more good soldiers.
15:16You need a dude that's a bona fide difference maker.
15:18And if that's a guard, I'm cool with it.
15:20But, but you need a bona fide difference maker on this football team.
15:25And, and, and I don't believe you go find that guy in the draft.
15:27If you do, good, cool.
15:28I'm happy with it.
15:29I think it's a huge risk if you try to do it via the draft.
15:31And if this, if this is what they're holding, and I've seen it, not just with PFF.
15:35I saw Mel Kiper had the Proctor kid from Alabama as, as their first round pick.
15:41I've seen tackle in O-line a lot.
15:44Like, I see a champ slice said, man, just keep going until you, until you get it right.
15:50Like, just keep, just keep going until you get it right.
15:52And my thing is, yeah, that would be tackle round one, tackle round two, tackle round two.
16:00The last three straight years in a draft, and you paid Cam Robinson 12, 13 million dollars to not make it.
16:09Well, you got to quit bringing up Cam Robinson.
16:10But I'm just saying, like, Cam's gone.
16:12He's no, he's no part of the squad, man.
16:13That is three tack, but that's just, like.
16:16I mean, how many guards they got to get right before we can slice?
16:17We're going to talk about Kenyon Green.
16:19If Ed Ingram hits, can we start talking about Kenyon Green?
16:21Ed did hit.
16:23We still don't got a left guard.
16:24Well, Ed, well, Ed, well, Ed hit all right.
16:26He's fixing to hit.
16:27He's a free agent, Chief.
16:28So, we may have hit, we may have just been a stepping stone to a bigger contract for Ed Ingram.
16:33I think that's a bigger conversation.
16:35I see, I see a lot of Baltimore talk, talk about wanting Ed Ingram.
16:38I'm like, no, no, no, come on, man.
16:39We got to re-up this kid.
16:40But when you say that, and as much as they've struggled finding that position, hell, why won't they pay Ed?
16:46Well, they should.
16:47I mean, it's still.
16:48If you were, like, clearly, Nick Casario and company, and I know we got to go to break Tyler.
16:53Nick Casario and company, they are great at certain spots.
16:58I think they've been really good at the receiver position.
17:01I think they've been really good in the secondary.
17:03I think they've been good at getting the right pass rushers, both free agency and the draft.
17:08That offensive line is the clear thing that they have struggled with.
17:12Well, unfortunately, we got one.
17:13And when you find one, you pay them.
17:14Hell, I ain't going to pay that much.
17:16Ed ain't getting a quarterback contract, damn it.
17:18We can't snap the ball without five of them out there.
17:21So, I mean, we got to go get them somehow.
17:24I'm with you.
17:24Keep Ed Ingram around.
17:25Ed, they hit.
17:26All right, we got Ed.
17:28All right, now we got to figure out this center thing.
17:30Or do you go, well, we hit with him.
17:31Hell with it, man.
17:32We can hit with these others.
17:33You don't like that approach?
17:35Okay.
17:36CJ loves it, I'm guessing.
