00:00So the release is done.
00:03In terms of things that stand out, PC, I'm sure we all have our own.
00:09I have a list of five things that stand out to me, and maybe they're similar, maybe they're not.
00:15The number one thing I noticed in the schedule release for the Texans was the bye week.
00:21Week eight. Week eight bye.
00:24This is good because if you think the Texans' schedule is hard, it's easy, whatever, get that bye week in
00:33the middle of the season.
00:34And I'm happy just in that regard.
00:36So that's what it is. It's actually perfect.
00:39Challenging start to the season, I would say.
00:42You've got Bills, Bengals, Colts, Cowboys.
00:47First four weeks, right out the chute.
00:50Sorry, Colts.
00:51I mean, the Colts might be a pain in the ass if Daniel Aloysius Jones is playing football at the
00:57clip that he was to start the season last year.
01:00But Bills, Bengals, and Cowboys, those are going to be fun, man.
01:06Challenging, but fun.
01:07The other thing for me was the end of the season.
01:13And I heard the tail end of this the other day on Payne and Pendergast, but Sean was talking about,
01:19like, his wishes for the Texans' season, like, in accordance with the schedule.
01:25And I think one of the things was, and I blame him.
01:28Pendergast and Payne.
01:29All of you blame him for jinxing this.
01:31He was talking about how he doesn't want, like, there to be a whole bunch of cold weather games.
01:35You know, like, some of these cold weather cities, maybe they'll be scheduled, you know, in a different portion of
01:42the year where it's not potentially, like, 10, 15, 20 degrees or maybe zero in some of these places.
01:49That's the thing, man.
01:50What is it?
01:50Week 14 through 17.
01:54You're at Commanders, home for the Jags, at Eagles, at Packers.
02:00Three cold games, potentially.
02:02I told Colin to do some homework, PC, but I don't know that he did it.
02:05I said, hey, look up, like, historically how cold it is on those particular days in which the Texans play.
02:12Listen, you don't need to do any research to see what the cold games are, per se.
02:16Why?
02:17What do you mean?
02:18It could be an unseasonably warm day in Washington whenever the Texans play the Commanders.
02:25It could be an unseasonably...
02:26When are they playing Washington?
02:27I don't know.
02:28Week 14.
02:29I don't have the days in front of me right now.
02:30As Washington is week 14.
02:33Yeah, but day, sir.
02:34Day.
02:35It's a day game.
02:36Week 14, the actual date is Sunday, December 13th.
02:41It's going to be cold.
02:42And it's a nooner.
02:43Okay.
02:44It's going to be cold.
02:45High sun.
02:46Sun will be up.
02:47All right?
02:48Shining down on the stadium.
02:50So it's not going to be that crazy.
02:52I mean, listen, it could be overcast and there'd be no sun.
02:54Yeah, it could be.
02:55This is why I told you to look up the weather history, man.
02:57I will look it up.
02:58Don't do that.
02:59Don't waste your time.
03:00Nobody cares.
03:02Yeah, I kind of care.
03:03I'm actually kind of curious, to be honest with you.
03:04Is this like a regular thing now?
03:06Do all NFL teams have to go through this?
03:09Kind of like basically now everybody's got to play in an international game.
03:13The other thing that I looked at was you've got another gauntlet.
03:16And I feel like, has this been three years in a row?
03:18Didn't the Texans do this last year?
03:20And they had the really bad one against some killer opponents.
03:23Wasn't it Chiefs, Ravens, and Dolphins two years ago?
03:26Yes.
03:27They've got three games in 12 days, just like then.
03:31And I think they had one last year, but the quality of opponent wasn't that crazy.
03:35What do you think about Jags, Eagles, Packers?
03:37Does that do anything for you?
03:38That's one home game and two road games.
03:40That sucks.
03:41Yeah, but those are three very solid teams.
03:44Yeah, yeah, no, that's true.
03:45I mean, who knows what the Jags are going to look like at that point?
03:47And who knows if the Eagles, you know, with all the drama that they always got going on over there,
03:53what they look like by week 16.
03:55Packers, it's just they're both going to be back.
03:58They're back-to-back cold weather games, potentially, on the road, nonetheless.
04:01And Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve at Eagles.
04:06Now, would the wife prefer you?
04:11Well, that's a dumb question because it's an away game.
04:13I'm sure the wife is glad this is not a home game for you, PC.
04:17Christmas Eve at Reliant Stadium.
04:20Leaving her with the doggies and cooking all the good food?
04:23Probably not a good idea.
04:25So you don't have to worry about that.
04:27That's a prime game.
04:29Like, as in Amazon Prime?
04:31Yes.
04:32Yeah, well, that's not bad.
04:33Now, I pirate that, so it's all good.
04:37Speaking of prime, primetime games.
04:39That was the other thing.
04:40You got the London game against the Jags week six.
04:44You've got Thursday night football week 11 against the Colts.
04:47You've got Sunday night football week 13 at the Steelers.
04:52Week 16, more Thursday night football, if you need that in your life,
04:55against the Eagles, and then week 17, a Monday nighter in Green Bay.
05:02That's going to be fun.
05:03Monday night, Green Bay, cold.
05:04Yeah, but that Christmas Eve game against the Eagles is, ugh.
05:08That's going to be brutal.
05:10At least you'll have, you know, you're going Thursday night to Monday night,
05:13so it's a long, it's like a week and a half.
05:15Yeah, it's like a mini bye.
05:16Yeah, I agree.
05:17Yeah, look, to me, this does not say seventh easiest schedule in the NFL,
05:25and it's not just because of the actual schedule and the way the games break down.
05:30It's the way these teams have been constructed via free agency and via the draft.
05:36You're playing, the Texans are, at least in accordance to the projections of Mike Clay
05:41the other day on ESPN, you're playing seven teams that he's forecasting to win
05:46double-digit games this season.
05:47Yeah, and look, the thing is, for example, the Eagles game.
05:52Never know how things are going to be for both sides when it comes to that point.
05:57Heck, Sirianni might be fired by the time we get there.
06:01Damn, hot take from Colin.
06:02Nick Sirianni on the hot seat already.
06:06That's a discussion for another day.
06:10I mean, it could happen.
06:12It's Philadelphia.
06:12Didn't they start kind of decomposing towards the middle portion of the season last year
06:18and just kind of hang it on by the hair on their chinny-chin-chin towards the end?
06:24Nobody really believed in them, right?
06:26But the thing is, wasn't that strength of schedule that came out mostly based on the team's
06:33winning percentages from last year?
06:34Not mostly, but all based on.
06:36That's why I say, like, okay.
06:37Okay, I didn't know if there was, like, some other analytics put into it.
06:40No, that was my whole point, is there should be.
06:43Yeah.
06:44You know, don't leave it to us to do that.
06:46I don't want to look at 17 different opponents, you know, drafts and free agencies
06:52and having to grade that.
06:54No, somebody that gets paid a lot more money at the DisneySports.com place, they can do that.
07:00So, I entrusted the projection via Mike Clay, who literally did that, and still came up
07:07with some really wild and wonky numbers, man.
07:09I don't know.
07:10So, all that to say, like, you know the schedule.
07:13It's out there.
07:15What do you think now about the strength of it?
07:18Like, does this excite you because of what?
07:23But it's a little easier than you thought, or does this intimidate you a bit that it's
07:29a little more difficult than you thought?
07:31Or are you like me?
07:33Easy, hard.
07:34It's the NFL.
07:35Like, whatever the Texans were projected to do last year, whatever the strength of schedule
07:41was, they won a lot of close games, and they lost some close games, and they won 12 at
07:47the end of the day.
07:48But who would have thought this Texans team would win 12 games the way that they did last
07:54season?
07:56Knowing that, it should tell you right off the bat, all right, what's going to happen
08:00this year, PC?
08:00How the hell are the Texans going to accomplish at least 10 wins in 2026, 2027?
08:08Because what you think is going to happen is probably not going to happen.
08:10So, first things first, right?
08:12How many teams do the Texans play this year that you look at and say, that team is just
08:21better than the Houston Texans?
08:24I mean, look, all the really good teams.
08:26I think when we talk team, right, that's hard.
08:31But I would say Bengals could be one of those.
08:34Not Bengals, but Bills.
08:36Bills could be one of those.
08:39Ravens could be one of those.
08:40Eagles could be one of those.
08:42Packers could be one of those.
08:44Chargers could be one of those.
08:45Maybe the Bengals could be one of those.
08:48Cowboys, week four?
08:49I don't know what they look like at that point in time.
08:53But that's a team that's only projected to win, I think, Mike Clay had them at nine and
09:00a half wins.
09:01But what about a missed opportunity, though?
09:02So that Cowboys game is not a primetime game, a missed opportunity by the National Football
09:08League, in my opinion.
09:09Well, who else is playing?
09:11You know?
09:12Sure.
09:12Is it like the fifth best game?
09:15You know, you got Ravens and Chiefs going that weekend, maybe?
09:20You got Bills and Chargers going?
09:23I mean, I have no idea.
09:25It's subjective.
09:26I don't know anybody else's schedules.
09:28I do know this.
09:29I get excited any time the Texans get a chance to play the Cowboys.
09:32It only happens every four years, right?
09:35It's kind of like a damn lunar eclipse or a solar eclipse.
09:38You know, the kids always wait for that.
09:40It's exciting.
09:41It's fun.
09:41Things you're not used to seeing.
09:43I'm excited for those big-time, primetime games, even though they're not in primetime
09:48slots all the time.
09:49The thing I like about the schedule, right, is that there's no game on here where I look
09:56at it and I go, man, there's no way in hell the Texans are winning that game.
10:01We've had games like that in the last couple of years.
10:04Right off the bat, I'm like, all right, they're not winning that game.
10:07Like, two years ago when we were doing that, Kansas City, Baltimore, Miami, I was like,
10:11there's no way they're winning that game at home against the Ravens on Christmas.
10:15They got killed.
10:16You're right.
10:16But there's one reason why you say that and one reason only.
10:19His name is Lamar Jackson.
10:20No, no, no, no.
10:21There's one reason why you say there's not one team on there that you feel like it's
10:27an automatic L for the Texans.
10:29It's the defense.
10:30Yeah.
10:31It's the defense.
10:32It's a big part of it.
10:32It's just that simple.
10:33But you've got the Bills.
10:35Well, you've had the Bills number.
10:37You have the Chargers.
10:38You've had the Chargers number.
10:42The Ravens, and you finally beat them last year, but you beat them without Lamar Jackson.
10:47And if Lamar's playing in week 12, it's a very different game.
10:50Yeah.
10:51The Eagles have had a lot of drama last year.
10:53We don't know what variation of the Eagles we're going to get.
10:57And, you know, the Packers, Jordan Love, two years in a row, starts off great, fades
11:01towards the end of the year, then has like a hot game, then has a not-so-hot game.
11:06Like, you're never really sure which Jordan Love you're going to get, but Packers are a
11:10good team.
11:11And then you got the Commies.
11:13Well, is Jaden Daniels looking like rookie season Jaden Daniels, or is he looking like
11:18last year's Jaden Daniels who missed half the season with injury and never really looked
11:22right?
11:22You know?
11:24Who knows?
11:24I mean, Jordan Love and Jaden Daniels, two, you know, young players who those questions
11:31of health and inconsistencies should start to become, you know, should be answered, you
11:37know, this year and maybe next year.
11:39Like, certainly within this little two-year window, like Jordan Love's been paid already
11:43like a guy that is going to be a dude for a long time.
11:47He's 27.
11:48He's already worth 220-some-odd million dollars.
11:50He got that deal a couple years ago, right?
11:52Jaden Daniels very much in line to get a similar kind of a contract, but health, all those things.
12:00We're going to be talking about that many times, I think, in a positive or negative light
12:05in regards to C.J.
12:06Stroud this upcoming season for probably 19, 20 weeks.
12:09And the other thing that I thought was really interesting is the Texans play all their division
12:14road games by week six, all the division road games by week six, that's a week three at Indy week
12:22five at the fake Oilers week six, technically at Jacksonville, but you're in, you're in Wembley.
12:29So, all your division road games are over by week six, and you have the Colts at home week
12:3811, Thursday Night Football, you have the Jags at home week 15, you have the Titans at home
12:45week 18.
12:46It's a really good observation.
12:49That's very interesting, actually.
12:51Is that a good thing?
12:52I think it is a good thing, because let's say you get through that early part of the
12:55season, two and one in division on the road.
12:59Well, now, all you got is home games.
13:03And I do think it's good to get the Colts on the road early, because who's quarterback
13:10in the Colts before Daniel Jones gets back?
13:14Dot, dot, dot.
13:15Wait longer.
13:15I don't know.
13:16Who is?
13:18It ain't going, is it?
13:19Anthony Richardson's still there.
13:22Technically, they did not pick up his fifth year option.
13:25Is it Riley Leonard?
13:26But he's there.
13:27Probably.
13:28I ain't afraid of Riley Leonard.
13:29I mean, at least if Anthony Richardson is, you know, still ass at that point in time.
13:35It probably will be.
13:36Here's the thing, you know, the Jags and Titans home games, the second half of the season
13:41for the Texans, they can be very much like get right games, if we're being honest, because
13:46before the Jags game, you've got Raven Steelers, Commandos, Jags at home.
13:51And then you got Eagles Packers on the road before week 18's Titans at home.
13:57Are they going to be get right games?
13:59Or are they going to be keep it rolling kind of games?
14:02That's the fun of the season.
14:04We'll see.
14:04We can talk about it.
14:05That's 713-572-4610.
