00:00I'm trying to get past this stage, and I think I'm getting there.
00:04And I think Clint maybe suggested this.
00:08Now, I will not promise you that I won't jump back into the rear view a few times.
00:12I know Clint has suggested this.
00:14Like, look, they brought back Nick Kaley.
00:17Looked like Gerard Johnson's going to be back.
00:19Right?
00:19They're not changing the offense.
00:21Right?
00:22They're going to try to build upon what they did.
00:25All right?
00:25Yes, I think maybe there should have been more thought about maybe the direction they're going from that standpoint.
00:31But they're not going there.
00:32They want this offense to be what it is, and they just want it to be improved from what it
00:37was last year.
00:37I think for the most part, they were probably happy with kind of how things went about, how the team
00:43was playing.
00:44And there was complimentary football most of the time, despite how we felt about it.
00:49They just feel like, boy, we just can't turn the football over like we did.
00:54But if they're going to do that, Clint, then I think that they should swing for the fences at the
00:59spots that they want to be where they want to be.
01:03Like, I think, Clint, they want to be a team that can run the football, that can control the time
01:10of possession,
01:10a team that can minimize mistakes and be a powerful offensive team that's physical, that is led by running the
01:20football and not led by C.J. Stroud.
01:23Right?
01:23I think that's what they want to do.
01:25And to me, Clint, well, why don't you go balls to the walls to try to achieve that?
01:31Right?
01:32Like, when you say if that's what you want to be, that doesn't mean, all right, let's play Titus Howard
01:37at a guard.
01:37Right?
01:38That should mean let's go get aggressive and go get the pieces that are needed.
01:43Right?
01:43To hell with Joe Mixon.
01:44If you want to run the football, go see what Brees Hall is about.
01:48I think they should swing for the fences at what they want to be.
01:52And also, I think when you swing for the fences is at positions, Clint, that aren't like big money spots,
02:00like running back at interior linemen.
02:02Like, if you want to be that, then why not make a serious run at the best of the markets
02:08at those positions?
02:09Well, I think if people are going to take you serious about making a serious run at a Super Bowl,
02:16I think this is the offseason that the Texans have to make very intentional, aggressive moves on the offensive side
02:23of the football.
02:24Look, I'm always a guy that would be aggressive, whether it be in the draft or in free agency or
02:33via the trade.
02:35Right?
02:35Like, when a player comes available that you know is going to change the game for your group, it's a
02:41great fit.
02:41It's a position need.
02:43Whatever it may be, for whatever reason, I know this guy is going to change the game for me.
02:47I'm always a let's swing for the fence type of guy because I don't know if that guy is going
02:53to come around when the timing is right.
02:56Right?
02:57It's like right now with the Houston Texans, the timing is right.
03:02Everybody's got you on the doorstep of an AFC championship or a Super Bowl.
03:07We have exhausted conversations about why you're not there.
03:12We get it.
03:13You're on the doorstep of an AFC championship or a Super Bowl.
03:21By every metric you could possibly bring up, you're there.
03:25Right?
03:26Right now is the time for you to make aggressive, intentional moves offensively for guys that move the needle.
03:37Like, the days of going into camp and saying we're going to do more with less, the days of going
03:43into camp and saying we're going to put our best five offensive linemen out there, the days of going into
03:49camp and, oh, well, we'll see how these rookies develop.
03:52Like, those days have to be over on the offensive side of the ball.
03:57Like, that can't be your headliner.
03:59And it seems like it has been with the exception of two years ago when it was Joe Mixon, it
04:04was Steph Diggs, it was bring some of those caliber guys in here.
04:07Like, that's the kind of moves you've got to make offensively.
04:11I love those moves when they made them.
04:14Your team is in a different position right now than when you made those moves.
04:18Those caliber moves, and forget the names.
04:22I'm just talking about those caliber moves, have to be made right now.
04:27Again, your team's in a different place.
04:29Guys, you're on the doorstep, rotational guys, you know, pieces of guys that are going to compete to be the
04:37best five offensive linemen, guys that have position flex and all this kind of crap, guys that are, boy, they're
04:44really good guys.
04:45They're just a great fit with our team.
04:47Like, all of that stuff has to be out the window when you're talking about offensive pieces that you're adding
04:54to this Houston Texans team.
04:55I just, I believe that they've got to be aggressive.
04:58And, again, we're talking one or two guys.
05:00I'll take one, to be completely honest with you.
05:02If it's the right one, I'll take one.
05:03But we're talking one or two guys, and let's ride and see what we can do in 2027, 26.
05:10I just, yeah, like someone just texted in Tyler Algier, the running back from the Falcons, 25 years old, good
05:17in the red zone.
05:18Listen, I think he's going to be, I think he's a good back.
05:22And I hear the thought.
05:23Well, I'm just saying, Clint, if you know what you want to do, they want to be a physical football
05:32team.
05:32He wants to have a team that runs the football and controls the football and is led that way and
05:39maybe the play action and open things up for CJ and then defend the way they defend.
05:45Listen, I don't love that with CJ, but if that's what you're going to do, I think clearly it can
05:51work.
05:51That's, I mean, Seattle was pretty close to that.
05:54I think clearly that can work.
05:57I'm just saying, if that's what you want to be, why Tyler Algier?
06:02Like, the Eagles knew that they wanted to be a team that ran the football, that that was going to
06:09be their calling card.
06:11They said, well, let's go get Saquon Barkley and let's go pay his ass, right?
06:16If that's what you want to be, don't go get Andrews at center.
06:20Make a run at Lindenbaum.
06:22Make a run at Conor McGovern.
06:24Those guys are all free agents.
06:26Like, if you want to run the, if you want to do that, like, just go for it, right?
06:34And that's my thing.
06:35If that's how you want to play football, you can't do that and say we're going to go wood marks
06:41and not know what we're going to get from mixing.
06:46Like, hell, go for it.
06:48Go for the, get those pieces.
06:50I agree wholeheartedly with you, Ron.
06:52And here's the deal is, is you've got to go, like, it appears, right?
06:57Two years ago, I remember correctly, correct me if I'm wrong on this, Ron, but I, I think D'Amico
07:02basically said, look, we went after Barkley, but it just didn't work out.
07:07Right.
07:08And, and they, they, they, that's the same year they landed on mixing, right?
07:10The same year they ended up winning with mixing.
07:11Like, that, that's the, and I'm not saying it has to be running back.
07:13I'd like for it to be running back.
07:15I mean, but, but that, it doesn't have to be running back.
07:16Like, I'm just saying, that's the level of, we've got to be in on every top free agent on the
07:23offensive side of the football until we land the one or two that can, that can change the game offensively
07:29for the Texans.
07:30If you want to talk running backs right now, like, there's no reason to not go hunting Brees Hall.
07:33There's no reason to not go hunting Kenneth Walker III.
07:36Yeah.
07:36Like, I'm talking about those caliber guys.
07:38Like, show that you're serious about taking that next step.
07:40And I don't, I don't think it would be, like, you're not throwing good money at bad.
07:44Like, this is the time right now.
07:47This is the time right now for you to take a big swing or two on offense and prove that
07:52you're dead serious about making a Super Bowl run.
07:55You're not, if this comes back to the same old, same old with Nick Casario and D'Amico Rhines on
08:00the offensive side of the football, if this is the same old, well, we tried, we just didn't get it
08:04done, or, you know, make it, trying to sell how good certain guys are because we don't know that they're
08:11that good.
08:11Like, if it comes down to that, I think you failed miserably and you've missed another opportunity.
08:16Yeah, hey, man, bargain at tight end, bargain at receiver, that's not what you, but if you want to be
08:20a team that controls the football, the Ravens, a couple years ago, we want to run the football.
08:25What did they do?
08:26They went and got Derrick Henry, and they went in, like, and they draft towards that.
08:30Like, go, I just think, lean into, they are, D'Amico, go lean into what you want to be.
08:38I would argue, I would argue the same thing with the draft.
08:43Yeah?
08:44I would argue the same thing with the draft.
08:45Fair, fair, especially with your, especially with your most premium pick.
08:48This team, this team does not need another Higgins.
08:52No.
08:53Just to be completely fair, man, this team doesn't need another Jalen Norton.
08:56I'd rather you draft a hell of a pass rusher than to do that, because that's what you, that's what
09:01you are.
09:01Right, I mean, this team doesn't need another Woody Marks, and look, not, no disrespect, those guys are good.
09:07Those guys are good.
09:09You don't need, this team doesn't need more of that.
09:13Right?
09:13This team, like, identify one or two players in the draft on the offensive side of the football that are,
09:21that are sure.
09:21You did a great job.
09:22You did a great job there, Yante Urshry.
09:24Like, like, surefire, and I'm not saying they need to be offensive linemen.
09:28I'm saying they need to be anywhere.
09:28Anywhere.
09:29I mean, guys that you know, damn it, these guys have been in college for four or five years.
09:33These guys are studs.
09:34These guys are dogs.
09:36These guys are, I mean, I don't even care if they're mechanically and technically, their favorite, their favorite phrasing.
09:41I don't even care if they're mechanically and technically advanced or sound.
09:45They're going to fight and be a problem for anybody they're up against.
09:49Identify those guys on the offensive side of the football and trade everything you got to go get them.
09:56Like, that is where you're at offensively with this football team.
10:00There's a Super Bowl, you are at the doorstep of that Super Bowl.
10:04You need difference makers on the offensive side of the football.
10:07If you're ever going to be uber aggressive, this is the time that everybody would wholeheartedly understand you opening a
10:15checkbook.
10:15Like, I at least, like, I get, like, hey, they want to have a high-octane offense.
10:23Well, I look at their pieces, and it says that's what we're going to do.
10:26Yep.
10:27Right?
10:27We got Pickens, we got CeeDee Lamb, we got a good tight end.
10:31Like, it makes sense.
10:33If you want to be a team that is physical offensively and run the football and control the ball and
10:39be a run-first team,
10:41like, we're led by the run.
10:43We want to establish that.
10:45We want to be fourth and one, and we want to run the football.
10:48We want to do that.
10:49That does not scream Nick Chubb.
10:52Agree.
10:54Fourth-round running back.
10:55And they say, no.
10:58Move our right tackle to guard.
11:01Andrews, who's 240.
11:07Lakin Tomlinson.
11:09Like, that doesn't scream.
11:11That doesn't scream that.
11:14Yeah, I agree.
11:15Dalton Schultz.
11:17Brevin George.
11:18That doesn't scream that.
11:19And I just say, swing.
11:22And again, the fortunate thing is, like, if you had to swing for wide receiver and corner and pass rusher,
11:32that's different than having to swing for running back and guard and center.
11:37Like, I'm not saying those guys don't make money, but they don't make money compared to those.
11:41Those are the positions you want to go in.
11:43But, I mean, it would be, we're going to the top of the list.
11:46You see, I am swinging, and I'm swinging hard for Brees Hall.
11:50And if I don't get him, it doesn't then turn into Isaiah Pacheco.
11:58No, no, I swung hard, and we're moving to Kenneth Walker.
12:03Or we're moving to the next one that can really be an impact.
12:08They should have somebody on the roster that, you know, if that dude don't get hurt, he plays 15 to
12:1417 games,
12:15he, without a shadow of a doubt, is going to be a 1,000-yard rusher.
12:21They should have that guy because that's what they want to be.
12:24The beauty, again, we talked about this yesterday, the beauty of the Houston Texans situation, to your point,
12:32there's so many positions they can do that with.
12:35Like, we're talking about running back because I think we both feel like that's where you can get your most
12:39bang right there in terms of improving.
12:41Well, yeah, running back and interior line, that's the area.
12:44But the point is, Ron, is, yeah, you're in there, you're getting, you're in the mix with Kenneth Walker and
12:51Brees Hall.
12:52You're in the mix with, what's my, the center, Lindenbaum.
12:54Lindenbaum and Connor McGovern is out there.
12:56Yeah, I mean, you're in the mix with all these guys.
12:59You land two of them.
13:00My point is, is you're not in a position where it's like, man, the only place we can afford,
13:05the only place we need is really running back.
13:07So we're down to the, I mean, there's 10 guys out there, and if you can land one or two
13:10of them,
13:11you're in a really, really, really good spot.
13:13And that cover, that spans every position other than quarterback.
13:17I don't know if I want to get this aggressive, guys, on trade, uh, oh, you got one?
13:21Trade up for Jeremiah Love.
13:23I don't know if I.
13:24If you fall in love with it, I ain't got a problem.
13:26I don't, you know, you know what, you're right.
13:29I'll be honest, like, that's what you, I don't want to give up a ton.
13:32If you look at the, if, and if he starts to fall or something and he's at, yeah.
13:35Hey, if Nick Casario looks at that dude right there and says, hey, man, that is a bell cow.
13:40Yeah.
13:40That's one of the best running backs to come out of college in three, four, five years.
13:43And it's cheap.
13:44Hey, man, I ain't got no problem with it.
13:47I would rather you go Bree Saul or, or, or, or Kenneth Walker or one of those guys that's
13:51got some, got a little bit of, a little bit of a resume in the league.
13:54But, but if, if you look at that guy and go, nope, that, that is the dude right there.
13:58That, that, that guy right there will step in our huddle and has the ability.
14:02If, if, if, if he can walk in that locker room over there and, and immediately command
14:08respect and, and take, take over a room just by his presence and who he is.
14:11And he's that good of a running back.
14:13Hell yeah.
14:14Move your ass up there and get, I don't know how, how you gotta go.
14:16But that's, yeah.
14:18You gotta go, you gotta go really high, but that, but that absolutely.
14:20That's the kind of, that's the kind of move I'm talking about.
14:22Yeah.
14:23I just like lean into what you want to be and swing for it.
14:27Come on, man.
14:27You're there.
14:28You're right there, man.
14:29You're at the doorstep.
14:30You can't literally, you can't look me in my eye and tell me, man, we want to, we want
14:33to run the football, man.
14:34It all starts a running game.
14:35Who's your center?
14:36He's two 40.
14:40Who's your, who's your guard?
14:41This is what we're going to do.
14:42We're going to make our tackle gain weight, move him over, play the worst position he plays
14:46on the line.
14:48Who's your sixth offensive lineman?
14:50I mean, that's what you, you're bringing it.
14:52You're fine.
14:52Blake Fisher, you're running a guy that probably could have been cutting off.
14:56You're running jumbo packages 56 times a game.
14:58Cause this is what you want to do, but go swing for it, man.
15:02Go do it.
15:03Go do it.
