Are we on the eve of destruction? Mankind has had the ability to annihilate itself for quite some time now. And there doesn’t seem to be a major drive by humanity to lower the risk. So, are we close? Is one or more of the nuclear powers ready to “pull the trigger”? Is climate change about to destroy us all? How about the imminent threat of “disinformation? Will that be the cause of humanity’s extinction? Well, if the “Bulletin of Atomic Scientists” are asked that question, the answer is that we are closer now than we have ever been in the past, and all three of those causes are contributing to the danger.
What does God say? Are there any events, revealed in the Bible, that must take place before “the end is near”? Yes. And Dr. Thiel uses the word of God to detail those events that are soon to take place.
Those events prophesied in the Bible definitely do include wars. But they also include false prophets, famines, pestilences and persecutions.
But when those events do take place, and they surely will, will that finally be the end of all humanity. Will Satan actually win in the end? Is the Great Tribulation the end of mankind or the beginning of a new kingdom; the millennial kingdom of God.
Jesus did warn us not to be deceived by disinformation. He also encouraged us to properly watch, and pray, and live our life by His principals and commandments.

00:00Greetings, friends. This is Steve Dupuy for the Bible News Prophecy Program with Dr. Bob Thiel,
00:09bringing you news and analysis of world events in light of Bible prophecy.
00:14Dr. Thiel, is doomsday right around the corner?
00:18Well, there's something called the doomsday clock, and it's maintained by the Science and Security Board of the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists.
00:27And it's been moved closer to midnight, certainly that the end of the world is closer.
00:32I want to read a report about it from CBS.
00:36Quote, doomsday clock moves to 85 seconds to midnight, closest point to catastrophe since its debut.
00:43The doomsday clock, a metaphor of how close humanity is to self-annihilation, was moved to 85 seconds to midnight on Tuesday,
00:52is closest point to catastrophe since the clock made its debut nearly 80 years ago.
01:00The president of that organization said, humanity has not made sufficient progress on the existential risks that endanger us all.
01:09And the risks humanity faces, they say, from nuclear weapons, climate change, and disruptive technologies are growing.
01:20Every second counts, and we're running out of time.
01:24Now, Michael Snyder also wrote about this.
01:26He says that the people in the United States, 342 million, they want to live to a ripe old age.
01:34But as the world teeters on the brink of the unthinkable, scientists have just moved the doomsday clock closer to midnight than ever before.
01:43When this year's announcement was made, the scientists responsible for the doomsday clock specifically mentioned the United States, Russia, and China.
01:51At this moment, the 342 million people that are living in this nation are working hard and trying to enjoy life.
01:59But the truth is that the unthinkable is right around the corner, and the clock is ticking, end quote.
02:07I suppose living to a ripe old age is relative and depends on where you are living.
02:13What are your thoughts?
02:14Well, I don't believe that most Americans will, quote, live their ripe old age.
02:20The Great Tribulation, Jesus talked about Matthew 24 is coming, and the United States itself is going to be defeated and conquered for passages in the book of Daniel, the book of Habakkuk, and the book of Isaiah.
02:32Now, this doomsday clock move is perhaps their warning to or about Donald Trump, who spoke in terms at the World Economic Forum last week that the globalists don't like.
02:46So I want to read something about that.
02:49This comes out of France, quote.
02:52Doomsday clock moves closer to midnight a year into Trump's term.
02:56The board of atomic scientists set their doomsday clock, representing how near humanity is to catastrophe, closer than ever to midnight on Tuesday, citing accelerating winner-takes-all global competition and weakening nuclear reduction commitments.
03:19Board members also voiced alarm over President Donald Trump.
03:23The board of atomic scientists set this clock up at the start of the Cold War.
03:34They moved it closer than it was a year ago.
03:38This announcement comes a year into President Donald Trump's second term, in which he shattered norms, ordering unilateral attacks abroad, deploying force at home in defiance of local authorities, and withdrawing from a slew of international organizations.
03:53Russia, China, and other major countries have, quote, become increasingly aggressive, adversarial, and nationalistic, said the statement announcing the clock shift.
04:05Trump has threatened to resume nuclear testing and is pushing a costly global dome missile defense system that would further militarize space.
04:17Now, as far as this doomsday clock itself goes, back in 1984, the late Pastor General of the old Worldwide Church of God, Herbie W. Armstrong, he wrote about it when it was moved to three minutes before midnight.
04:35So, here's what he wrote about all this.
04:39He says, I'm writing from Australia, but wherever I am, it's needful to keep in touch with fast-moving world conditions.
04:47We all live in the same world, and the atomic scientists have now moved the doomsday clock one more minute forward, from four to only three minutes to midnight.
04:56He says, now, not long ago, if anyone mentioned the end of the world, people would have assumed him to be a crackpot doomsday freak.
05:06But today, the same as scientists and heads of nations are talking about doomsday and the end of the world.
05:14He says, these silver men, they're not wild-eyed religious fanatics.
05:18They know what's actually happening.
05:21They know how the evils of this world are mounting.
05:24They know how the weapons of mass destruction have been produced that cannot blast all human life into extinction.
05:31And these silver leaders are worried.
05:35One said, quote, I'm frankly scared, end quote.
05:39They're bewildered, confused, and perplexed.
05:41They see no way to stop what seems to be the inevitable.
05:44This is because they don't see God in their thinking.
05:47They know not what God says about it.
05:50That's what Herb Armstrong said.
05:52And the reality is, yeah, there's many events in the world that are worrying scientists, and it's much worse than it was four decades ago.
06:01And, of course, most scientists and leaders don't know or they don't believe that God has a plan.
06:07Dr. Kiel, earlier you quoted these nuclear scientists as saying, concerns mount on nuclear weapons, climate change, and disinformation.
06:18Are they truly citing disinformation as a leading cause for the end of the world?
06:23Well, not quite, although that is sort of part of it, because they want people to believe a certain agenda, and they don't like it when people say something different.
06:33But to a degree, changes in the doomsday clock have been, in my opinion, mainly meant to send a political as opposed to a scientific message.
06:44Now, the question is, are we closer to the end?
06:47And the answer is certainly.
06:50Well, would you back that up for us from the Bible?
06:54Well, consider that in the book of Romans, Romans chapter 13, starting verse 11, the Apostle Paul wrote,
07:01And this do, knowing the time, that it's now high time to awake out of sleep, for our salvation is nearer than we first believed.
07:12The night is far spent, the day is at hand, therefore, let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.
07:20And we are certainly closer to the start of the great tribulation, and then the return of Jesus, than we've ever been before.
07:29So, yes, every day we're closer to this, in the establishment of the millennial kingdom of God, which will be preceded by a time which can be called the end.
07:41Is this the end?
07:42Well, Jesus listed various things in Matthew chapter 24, and he also said in verse 6, the end is not yet.
07:54There are specific events that are supposed to precede the event.
07:57So, Jesus was asked about the end.
08:00So, I'm going to go to Matthew 24 and pick this up, starting in verse 3.
08:05Now, as he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying,
08:12Tell us, when will these things be?
08:14Will it be the sign of your coming?
08:15Any age?
08:17This age?
08:18The age.
08:19Verse 4.
08:20Jesus answered and said to them,
08:22Take heed that no one deceives you.
08:24For many will say, I'm the Christ.
08:26And they'll deceive many.
08:27But you're going to hear wars and rumors of wars.
08:29See that you're not troubled.
08:31For all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
08:34For nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom.
08:38There will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
08:41All of these are the beginning of sorrows.
08:45When Jesus says, take heed that no one deceives you, is he referring to disinformation?
08:52Well, I guess you could call it that.
08:55Look, back in 2 Timothy chapter 3, I'm going to read a few verses from the Apostle Paul, starting in verse 1.
09:02It says,
09:03But know this, that in the last days, perilous times will come, for men will be, let's go down to verse 7,
09:09always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, verse 13.
09:14Evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
09:19Now, currently, we seem to be in the time Jesus called the beginning of sorrows.
09:24And while that is close to the end, the end is not yet.
09:26Now, what happens afterwards?
09:29Well, continuing in Matthew chapter 24, starting in verse 9,
09:33Jesus warns,
09:34Jesus warns,
09:35They will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you.
09:37You'll be hated by all nations for my namesake.
09:40Then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.
09:45Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.
09:48And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.
09:53But he whom draws the end will be saved.
09:56And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached to all the world as a witness, to all the nations.
10:01And then the end will come.
10:04Now, that part hasn't happened.
10:08And the time of persecution is coming.
10:10And the gospel of the kingdom will be preached to all the world as a witness.
10:13Once God believes that has happened to the degree he intended, notice that is when the end comes.
10:21After the gospel is preached, what happens next?
10:27Well, there's some other specific signs that proceed to start the Great Tribulation.
10:31If you're still in Matthew 24, I'm going to start in verse 15.
10:37So Jesus says,
10:38Therefore, when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place,
10:47whoever reads, let him understand.
10:49Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
10:53Let him who's on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.
10:57But woe to those who are pregnant, those who are nursing babies in those days.
11:03And pray that your flight may not be in the winter or on the Sabbath.
11:08It shows the Sabbath still being kept.
11:10For then there will be great tribulation, such as not been since beginning the world until this time, no nor ever shall be.
11:18And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved.
11:22But for the elect's sake, those days will be shortened.
11:25While international tensions and environmental matters are consistent with the beginning of sorrows,
11:34there are specific signs that Jesus said Christians are supposed to see before the end actually comes.
11:42And those people who put the doomsday clock together, they don't realize that.
11:45Now, Jesus said, however, for his disciples and his fathers that they should watch so they know when the end would be.
11:55As well as to be able to escape was coming.
11:58Now, we've been in Matthew 24.
12:01A lot of the same things are talked about in the book of Luke, the 21st chapter.
12:06So, Jesus goes and lists several things, or in Luke's account, lists the same basic things Jesus was talking about.
12:13Now, if you go to Luke 24, and you go to verse, excuse me, Luke 21, and you go to verse 34,
12:22because if you go to the wrong chapter, it's not there, obviously.
12:25But anyway, Luke 21, verse 34.
12:27So, a lot of people say, ah, it's been like nearly 2,000 years, you know, whatever.
12:46People always thought it was going to happen.
12:48But we're supposed to watch.
12:50Because most people won't get it.
12:51Verse 35, Jesus says,
12:53For it's going to come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the earth.
12:58They're going to say, oh, you know, people talk about this forever, and it's not coming.
13:02So, what are we supposed to do as Christians?
13:04Watch, therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass,
13:11and to stand before the Son of Man.
13:15Which, by the way, you're not supposed to pray that you'd be protected.
13:17You're supposed to watch that you may be counted worthy,
13:20so you'll change to be counted worthy.
13:24Now, the Bible clearly teaches that what's called the end of the world is going to come.
13:31And it also lists specific events Christians should look for,
13:36which will show us how close, you know, the end actually is.
13:40The Bible also clearly teaches that those who properly watch, pray,
13:47and live their lives as Jesus wants them to,
13:51can be protected, by the way, from the coming tribulation,
13:54according to Revelation 3, verses 7 through 13,
13:59Revelation 12, verses 14 to 17,
14:01if they are Philadelphian Christians.
