A clash broke out between Delhi tourists and local youths in Srinagar town of Pauri Garhwal district, Uttarakhand, after an argument over wrong-side driving on the Badrinath National Highway. The situation escalated to such an extent that police had to resort to a mild lathi charge to disperse an agitated crowd.

According to police, the incident began when tourists travelling in two vehicles allegedly overtook local scooter riders from the wrong direction, leading to a heated exchange. The argument soon turned violent near an SBI bank, with abuses and physical scuffles reported.

As the clash intensified, more locals gathered at the spot and later outside the Srinagar Kotwali police station, demanding action against the tourists. Some locals allegedly attempted to pull the tourists out of their vehicles, further escalating tensions.

Police intervened promptly and used mild force to control the crowd and restore order. Srinagar Kotwali in-charge Kuldeep Singh led the operation, ensuring the situation was brought under control without any major injuries.

In connection with the incident, seven individuals were arrested, including six from Delhi—Ajay Ubas, Abhishek Kaushik, Vipin Mandrawal (resident of Dehradun), Vishal Vats, Aakash Dabas, Sagar, and Manish. The two vehicles involved in the incident were also seized. A case has been registered, and the accused were produced before a court.

Police said the situation is now peaceful, and additional vigilance has been imposed in the area to prevent any further disturbance.
