00:00Court bailiffs today executed a writ of seizure and sale
00:05at the residence of UMNOS Jamal Yunus after he failed to settle more than six
00:10thousand ringgit in legal costs awarded in a defamation suit filed
00:15by DAP's Sepute MP Theresa Koch. A total of 14 items were
00:20seized and will be auctioned to recover the outstanding amount,
00:23according to Koch's lawyer.
00:25In 2022, the High Court ordered Jamal to pay more than
00:30300,000 ringgit in damages along with costs.
00:35He had deposited 300,000 ringgit into a stakeholder's account pending his appeal.
00:40But an outstanding sum of 66,061 ringgit and 65 cents
00:45comprising costs and interests remained unpaid.
00:49Koch subsequent
00:50filed the writ of seizure to recover the balance.
00:54Court officials
00:55arrived at Jamal's residence in Ampang at about 11.40am, spent about an
01:00hour at the premises and left at around 12.40pm.
01:04It is understood
01:05that Jamal's family members were present at the time.
01:09Nair declined to
01:10disclose the items seized.
