00:00The Kuala Lumpur High Court has acquitted Rosmah Mansoor of her 17 money laundering

00:05and tax evasion charges without going through a trial.

00:09Justice K. Muniandi said the charges against the wife of former Prime Minister Najib Razak

00:14were illegal and flawed as they did not comply with provisions in the Criminal Procedure Code.

00:20He said the charges amounted to duplicity and multiplicity and did not disclose any offence.

00:26Muniandi said he was using his original jurisdiction and inherent power as trial judge

00:31to give the accused an acquittal and discharge.

00:35Rosmah, 73, was standing trial on 12 money laundering charges involving RM7.09 million

00:41and five charges of failing to declare her income to the Inland Revenue Board.

00:46She still has an appeal pending before the Court of Appeal over her conviction in the

00:50RM1.25 billion corruption case on a solar energy project for rural schools in Sarawak.
