00:00I had the most spectacular guide. I had the greatest experience. We caught some
00:06honking Big A fish this long. Honking. If you look that up in the Webster, it comes
00:13right before Big A.
00:30Hi, folks. I'm Pat Malone, and this week on the Elite Fishing Series, we make our move
00:49west to the big open waters of Galveston Bay and Kemah, Texas, in search of scorable redfish
00:5420 to 28 inches in length on this episode of the Tidewater Boats Elite Fishing Series
00:59presented by Yamaha Outboards. I'm Pat Malone. He's Mike Frenette, and this is Game Time.
01:07Mike, welcome to the show again. I know there's a lot of different fishing techniques and different
01:12structure here in Kemah, Texas. We've been forced inside today because of the weather,
01:17so that's going to play a part. So you've got the big waters of Galveston Bay. You've got the weather.
01:22Yeah, and weather's going to be the number one factor, Pat. I mean, if the wind's blowing at all,
01:26there's a lot of open water out here, and so it's up to the anglers, and I'm sure every single one of
01:31them during pre-fishing has found some protected areas in case the wind's blowing from certain
01:37directions, and that's going to be the key to finding the fish as well. There's a lot of rock
01:44embankments. There's a lot of underwater structure, and then there's fish in open water if it's calm out
01:49there. So there's, I mean, this is really a destination that there's a variety of different
01:55options depending on the weather. And for the first time ever on the Elite Fishing Series,
02:00we have a Pro-Am. Talk about the Pro-Am. Six of you pros are going to be teamed up with city
02:05dignitaries and different, maybe first responders, different people like that. You're going to take
02:10them out for some of those people. It's the first time they've ever been on Galveston Bay fishing for
02:14Redfish with a Pro. This is so cool because we get an opportunity to interact with the dignitaries,
02:20the mayors, the councilmen, all the dignitaries from the surrounding communities here, and take
02:24them out on the waters that they may never have really experienced. They've seen it, they've heard
02:29of it, and some of them are fishermen, and some of them are not. But this is a great opportunity for us
02:34anglers to join with them and get them out on the water and hopefully maybe teach them and catch a few
02:40fish. And you know what, before they can come to the stage, and they're so excited to talk about,
02:44man, I hope I get to catch a fish. I hope I get to come to the stage and weigh in a fish.
02:48Some of them are talking a little bit of smack. Won't name any names or anything, Isaac. I've got
02:52a feeling this is going to be a lot of fun, not just for the pros and not just for the Ams, but also
02:58for those watching. And I'm about ready to get it started. I think you need to get those guys on the
03:02water and see what they can do. It's time for us to load up the boats, load up the people, and go find some
03:08fish. After their day of fishing, the pros and their amateur partners returned for the
03:13weigh-in. First up, it's the pros.
03:18All right, we are underway. The Elite Community Pro-Am, and here comes the pro, Mr. Mark Robinson,
03:24all the way from Victoria, Texas. One fish. Of course it's alive. We're going to weigh it in at
03:298.39 pounds. Put your hands together, Mr. Mark Robinson.
03:32It was good. Totally different kind of experience than we're used to. We kind of used it for a day of
03:41pre-fishing also, so we're going to try in our spots. We don't really want to wear them out, so
03:44we struggled bad. Struggled real bad. We had one 20-incher, 21-incher in the box at 11, 45,
03:5212 o'clock, and then one little school swam up. We caught two out of that school and headed to the dock.
03:58Read your fish. One live fish for 618. Let's get him out and get him up and get a picture. Mr. Bofar.
04:08You ready, son? All right. You got one fish. We know it's going to be good and alive.
04:14Read your scale. Get you locked in at 735. 735. That's a good fish. There you go. Will Granberry.
04:21Great job, young man. Stay tuned when we come back. The conclusion to the Elite Community Pro-Am
04:27in Kemah, Texas. Elite Fishing Series Television is brought to you by Tidewater Boats, Yamaha Outboards,
04:36McLean Trailers, Frog Togs, Berkeley Fishing, and our Coastal Community Partners. Welcome back to the
04:46Elite Fishing Series in Kemah, Texas. So we're ready to head to the Ams. And thank you pros for helping
04:53the Ams get their fish. You know the routine. Put your hands together for Miss Evans. Councilwoman
04:58number one is on the stage. One fish, one alive. You know what she brought in? 776. 776. Now comes
05:08the fun part. 776. That is awesome. It was a beautiful day. It was just a magical morning.
05:18We were out. The sun was rising. It was incredible to be out on the bay. Councilman in seat number five
05:26is going to be Isaac Saldana. Now I've seen pictures and you catch massive fish. But today
05:33it was 20 to 28 inches. And it looks like the great. You put them in there. Put all that in there. You can
05:39put whatever you want to because it ain't going to come close. One fish, one alive. Four, 385.
05:44It's really interesting to me to fish with a real bro and watch how he spots the fish,
05:50casts at them. And I really appreciate you bringing this tournament here.
05:53But they look like you had a good time. We had a great time. I was blessed to have the
05:57best professional fisherman I've ever met, Tony Vietor. I couldn't ask.
06:03Hey, wait. No, there's money on the line. No, there's this. But thank you for doing what he told
06:07you to do in order to catch that fish. Got to get you locked in at 688. That's a really solid fish.
06:12Now let's get him out and get a picture. Y'all put your hands together for Mr. Hank. Great job.
06:16Come on up, Ms. Collins. Come on. You know what you're doing. She said, I fished lady angler
06:21tournaments before and everything. We're going to read the scales and get you locked in at 585.
06:26585. This is the star of the show. Put your hands together one more time, Ms. Collins. Great job.
06:33KEMA council member number two, Darren Broadus. Y'all put your hands together for him as he comes up.
06:38Pretty much appreciate y'all coming to KEMA. Very much appreciate it. Will, you did a great job today.
06:43Hope you do really well in the tournament this weekend. Think he's got a good opportunity.
06:46We fished a lot of water today. So I think he's found some fish that actually can win. Let's
06:51see if he can catch them. All right, brother. Thank you so much.
06:54On the amateur side, Teresa Evans. Y'all put your hands together for her.
06:59On the pro side, Mr. Mark Robinson with an 8.39 pounder. This is the Elite Redfish Tournament
07:08Series. And this week is the KEMA Clash right here in beautiful KEMA, Texas. We appreciate
07:13you for tuning in and hope you'll check back again tomorrow when we turn the cameras on for day one.
07:18Mark Robinson kicks off the week in KEMA with a win. But winning is nothing new to this Elite Pro
07:24as we're about to see in this week's Winning Ways episode.
07:30Welcome to Winning Ways. I'm Pat Malone. And in this episode, a recap, a review, a look back at
07:36Mark Robinson's exciting victory at the Compadres Challenge.
07:40What I like about this tournament is we all come in blind. We're all on the same page.
07:44And we're all fishing the same waters. So we take off. I'm on my 30-minute ride through.
07:50So I go straight out into the Sabine Lake. I'm looking for schools of redfish on top,
07:54busting water. The water was horrible looking. It was all fresh. And I didn't see any bait.
07:59But way up on the shoreline, I saw some mullet jumping. And I saw some splashes. So I said,
08:05I'm going to go up there. We pulled up there into that cove. Wakes started taking off everywhere.
08:09I saw some big wakes right here. So I know there's some fish here. Good sign. Give me a little confidence.
08:14Now we can grind it out. I go for about 20 minutes. And finally, I make a flip to one.
08:19He's about 10 yards from the boat. I flip to him. He eats it. I got it.
08:27Now I'm excited. I've got a fish. I get him in, net him, put him on the scale.
08:323.90 pounds. It's just horrible fish.
08:35All right. I got my first fish here. I'm on the board. 3.9, something like that. But man,
08:42that's exciting. An hour and a half in, Mark had his first EFL fish on the board.
08:47Landed, weighed, and released. I get another bite. It's a good fish. He's pulling drag,
08:52pulling drag.
08:57I feel like I've never fought a fish before. He gets me wrapped up in my tower. I'm having a hard time.
09:02I'm not used to fishing with a tower on the front of my boat. He's got me going through monkey bars
09:06and all kinds of crazy stuff.
09:08Good one.
09:10Oh, I got a cramp in my arm.
09:11Cramp in my hand.
09:13Woo!
09:14I don't want to drop him. I can't afford another penalty.
09:18Told you I saw them mullet jumping over here.
09:206.90.
09:22That's what I needed right there.
09:23I feel a lot better.
09:24I'm moving up quick now.
09:26I'm at 24 pounds.
09:27All of a sudden, the wind just starts ripping.
09:30I make a couple more casts, and I'm like, we've got to get out of here.
09:33I turned around. I saw a bridge behind us.
09:36I said, we're going to go to that bridge.
09:37I know there's a boat ramp there, and we're going to get out of this weather.
09:40We get there. We pull in.
09:42They called it.
09:42They called it?
09:43Yeah.
09:44We get the text, and they tell me,
09:45Mark Robinson, you're the winner of this elimination round.
09:48And I'm thinking, I'm blown away.
09:49This is awesome.
09:51My first tournament of the year, my first win.
09:54I get to move on to the championship, and this is awesome.
09:57That was insane.
10:00Stay tuned.

12:47And we've got about six or seven left here to weigh in today from the solo tour and determine the winners there.
12:52And then we move right into the kayak division.

13:00You got three fish, three alive.
13:02There's no dead fish penalty for you.

13:08There we go.
13:08Put your hands together and make some noise now.
13:10Here we go.
13:13Read your scales and get you locked in at 1635.
13:16There's your new leader from Baytown, Spotted Addiction Pro, Gary Marino.
13:23You put your hands together for Mr. Beau Favre.
13:26It may not look like much to you, but this one fish for 3.42 pounds,
13:30he's heading to the Yamaha Bassmaster Redfish Cup Championship.
13:34$100,000 purse, one of the most important fish in his life, and it only weighed 3.42 pounds.

14:09Our assistants will help you get a picture of them and put them on Facebook
14:12and tell everybody what you caught while using Kima.
14:14Here we go.
14:15Mark needs a whopping 5.10 pounds to win this tournament.
14:20Tidewater Boats has taken him all the way to the top spot on the podium.
14:23Mr. Mark Robinson, 1261.
14:25That's your winner.
14:28Mark has got a two-day total weight of 36.80 pounds.
14:33Well, actually, I just went and kind of beached my boat because I could see them up there on a flat,
14:37and I just had to wait for them all to come to me because it was too shallow to move around.
14:41So, Tidewater Boats, I put that boat through hell today and yesterday and the day before.
14:47It's probably got a few new scratches on it, but it did what it had to do.
14:50Thank Kima for having us.
14:51It's been a great time, and I really enjoyed it.
14:54Y'all watch these kayakers.
14:55They're going to have some good fish today.
14:56I've got a feeling.
14:57All right, buddy.
14:57Thank you so much, Mark.

15:47Yes, sir.
15:48He's got a cooler set up with oxygen and everything.
15:50These guys are creative.
15:51They want to keep their catch alive, too.
15:541348.
15:54That's good enough for second place.
15:59Coming up next, boat number 21.
16:02Of course, I knew what I was doing the whole time.
16:06They've got two fish, two alive, no penalty.
16:09These guys have done a great job keeping their catch alive.
16:121339, good enough for fourth place right now.

16:23Come on, y'all.
16:24Put your hands together and make some noise.
16:26Get that GoPro working, baby.
16:27What you doing?
16:28This is the best guy for social media.
16:30But you know what?
16:30You kayakers, a lot of y'all know how to work that social media stuff.
16:34Got to rep the game, man.
16:36Got to do what we do.
16:37They've got two fish, two alive.
16:40Get them locked in at 1390, 1390.
16:46And you're in the big red.
16:48You got an 824 on there right now.
16:49You going to leave that alone?
16:50We don't got an 824.
16:52Come on, y'all.
16:53Put your hands together for them.
16:54Those are some beautiful Kima redfish right there.
16:56Come on now.
17:01Coming up next, boat number 12, Fishing Tackle Unlimited.
17:04Daniel Hayes and Tony Keel, you're going to need 1446 to take the lead.
17:10Yeah, you don't want to get in big red.
17:12I mean, who would want to with 1535, your new leaders.
17:15Come on, y'all.
17:15Put your hands together.
17:17Way to go, D, Tony.
17:18Get them up.
17:19Get them out.
17:19Let's get a picture.
17:24I caught it.
17:25I caught it on a black and sartreous skitter walk.
17:28Tony actually called me over.
17:30We were about, I don't know, 20 yards apart.
17:32He said, hey, they're opening.
17:33I'm on the school.
17:33And so I paddled over to him.
17:35Sure enough, second cast, boom, he smoked it.
17:39It's been a great time to be in Kima.
17:41Thank you guys so much for coming out.
17:43We're going to go to the solo tour first.
17:45And in fifth place, Mr. Will Granberry.
17:48In fourth place, all the way from Winnie, put your hands together for Mr. Tony Vietor.
17:53Put your hands together for Mr. Gary Marino.
17:56In third this week.
17:58Moving right along, second place, Mr. Blake Trevino.
18:02And now your champion, the Kima Clash 2022 Grand Champion, taking home $10,000, Mr. Mark Robinson.
18:12We really appreciate Kima for having us over here.
18:16It's always nice to have a good crowd, good spot, location.
18:19This is awesome.
18:20Love it.
18:20Yeah, we do too.
18:21Thank you so much.
18:22Congratulations, Mark.
18:23Third place, then second place, then first place.
18:26He climbed his way up the ladder.
18:27Great job on the solo tour.
18:30Wow, Mike.
18:31What an exciting conclusion to a week of events right here in Kima, Texas.
18:36Mark Robinson, 36.80 pounds.
18:39And Mike, five fish.
18:41He could have brought in six.
18:42Had a nine-pounder bumped out of the tank.
18:45He was on a different kind of bite this week.
18:47Yeah, he was on a good bite, and you're talking a little over seven-pound average on these five fish, which is pretty strong.
18:54I mean, he pulled it off.
18:55He had a great tournament.
18:57But, you know, the fishing was pretty tough, and that's why I said Mark was on a different bite, because he found something nobody else found this week.
19:04And everybody looks forward to fishing any kind of tournament at this time of the year because of the fish that are in the open bay.
19:10He just didn't play the cards for us to be able to do that for this tournament, so you had to go to playing B, playing C, and playing D.
19:19Had to have a lot of plans.
19:20You've got to recap this week.
19:22A pro-am on Thursday to get everything started.
19:24Then you have two days of hard-fought competition between some of the best solo tour anglers in the country.
19:29And then on Saturday, when y'all concluded, here come the kayakers.
19:33They fish in their two-kayak team tournament.
19:35Keels and Hayes come in with 1535.
19:37What a great week of festivities here in Kemah, but also championship winnings and earnings and points going towards that Tidewater National Championship.
19:47It really turned out to be an exceptional tournament here in Kemah, Texas.
19:51This is Pat Malone for Mike Fournette, thanking you for tuning in, and we'll see you when we hit the waters again to do it on the Elite Fishing Series.
