00:10Ahoy there, ladies!
00:13Stars from Britain's best-loved shows are jetting off for a holiday showdown.
00:18Is anyone else nervous? Yeah.
00:20Legends of Corrie, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here,
00:23Loose Women and The Chase are competing against their fellow castmates.
00:27Hey, no road rage please.
00:31To prove they can deliver the best holiday adventure.
00:34You like that break a bit too much.
00:36I'm not even pressing the break.
00:37Each famous face.
00:39Can we get back to coronation quickly?
00:41O-M-G.
00:42DJ Destroyer!
00:43Will plan their dream day in the sun.
00:45We are Loose Women, together we can do anything.
00:48And at the end of the week,
00:50they'll vote to decide who will be crowned the greatest Escaper.
00:55Are we all thinking, I want to win?
00:57Yeah.
00:58Only one of us can be the greatest Escaper.
01:01Who is it gonna be?
01:03Along the southern coast of Portugal lies the Algarve.
01:14Famous for its golden beaches, picturesque villages and endless sunshine.
01:19The perfect battleground for this week's celebrities.
01:22Three ex-campmates from I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
01:26They survive the jungle together.
01:28But can they survive an actual holiday?
01:30The first of those three celebs is queen of the ballroom, Oti Mabusi.
01:34I love travelling.
01:36The freedom, the drinks, the naps.
01:40I need a cocktail and the sun.
01:43I think my day will win.
01:44I just want to always be the best and do my best every single time.
01:50Hot on her heels is ex-campmate number two.
01:54Radio One breakfast DJ, Dean McCulloch.
01:57I take my holidays very seriously.
02:00I'm definitely the one to plan everything because I love it.
02:03I even love getting up really early in the morning and going to the airport.
02:07Everyone rolls their eyes, but I like it.
02:09Where's your favourite piece you've been on holiday?
02:11Turkey.
02:12Oh my God, I love Turkey.
02:13I am from Antalya.
02:14Oh, I went to Antalya to get my teeth done.
02:16No.
02:17These are Antalya's finest.
02:18I may not be good at a bush trucker trial, but what I'm really good at is putting together
02:23an award-winning five-star holiday.
02:27Just don't stress everyone.
02:30I've got this.
02:32And last to arrive is the legend of the boxing ring, the one and only Barry McGuigan.
02:38I'm hoping to win.
02:39I want to put on a really fabulous day that they really enjoy.
02:43And I'm also looking forward to revealing my competitive edge as well.
02:4813.9 kilos.
02:50Yes.
02:51Is that good?
02:52Very on the way.
02:53Great.
02:54Bye, Mum.
02:56Hello.
02:57Hi.
02:58Good morning.
02:59Hello.
03:00We're going to get a holiday.
03:03A three-hour flight from the UK, the Algarve stretches across Portugal's southern Atlantic coastline.
03:10Look at this.
03:11It's Barry.
03:12It's Barry.
03:13It's Barry.
03:14Oh.
03:15Who's got the biggest room?
03:16I bet you it's Barry.
03:17Not me.
03:18With your size, everything is bigger.
03:22I have absolutely no idea what Oti and Dana planning.
03:25None, whatsoever.
03:26To be honest, I'm ready for anything.
03:28I love to throw myself in all the most weirdest situations ever.
03:35So whatever you want to throw my way, I'm totally up for it.
03:38I have a funny feeling that we're going to wake up in the morning and Barry's going to be stood at the end of my bed with some boxing gloves.
03:43Right you up.
03:44And the fact that he has control of a whole day of this trip, I do worry that it will involve endurance.
03:52Three stars, three dream days, but only one winner.
03:57Cheers.
03:58To get in here in one piece.
03:59Yes.
04:00In one piece is right.
04:01Yeah.
04:02Now the crack begins.
04:03I'm really looking forward to this whole experience with you guys.
04:07I hope so.
04:08It's going to be better.
04:09Because I'm with you two, I kind of think at any moment that either Ant and Dak are going to walk in and be like, Dean, it might be you.
04:15Yeah.
04:17We're going to have a good time.
04:18Well, no we are.
04:19I know all this seems quite nice and lovely, but this is a competition.
04:21Yes.
04:22We're only in business.
04:23And there can only be one winner.
04:24I'm looking at a world champion boxer here and a two-time Strictly champion.
04:27I'm just going to hold my hands up and say I would love to win and you two, you two could go home, losers.
04:34Well, that's a genuine possibility.
04:36I am prepared to accept that.
04:38No, you're not.
04:39Are you?
04:40Well, not really.
04:41That was a lie.
04:42Yeah.
04:43No.
04:48Oti's the first to show off her perfect day out and she's getting help from customer helper Gio to turn her ambitious wish list into a reality.
04:57Everything has been planned.
05:00Adventure, fun, laughter and a good time.
05:03I think my day will win because I'm giving them variety.
05:07Good morning.
05:08Good morning.
05:09How are you this morning?
05:10I'm feeling amazing.
05:11Look at the sun, blue sky.
05:13Doesn't it look beautiful?
05:14I'm so excited about today.
05:15So my first idea is off-road baggies.
05:18Oh, okay.
05:19That's wild.
05:20Yeah.
05:21Unexpected.
05:22It's just that element of just pushing yourself.
05:23Yeah.
05:24And getting on something that you've never got on before.
05:26Yeah, yeah.
05:27And then just going as fast as possible.
05:28Yeah.
05:29Do you have an idea where we can get?
05:30Can you sort them out for me?
05:32Absolutely.
05:33100%.
05:34Do they go fast?
05:35That's what I need to know.
05:36Well, that depends on the driver.
05:38She's told us to bring a change of clothes.
05:41Yes.
05:42That worries me, Barry.
05:43That means we're either getting sweaty or dirty.
05:45And I don't want to do any of that.
05:46Or both.
05:47Or both.
05:48It would be really lovely for us to have lunch somewhere,
05:50which is really nice and authentic.
05:53So there's this beautiful little hidden gym
05:55where the locals would kind of go, that sort of thing.
05:57Off the beaten track, if you will.
05:58Yeah.
05:59And I think you're going to really enjoy it.
06:00Do you think she's going to get us dancing?
06:02Of course she is, yeah.
06:03She's got to be.
06:04The boys know that I love to dance.
06:06So I would love to get the boys moving.
06:09So we have this lovely little traditional folk group
06:12to kind of give you guys that little taster.
06:15You'll have a great time.
06:16You grew up in some musical theatre,
06:18so that's your thing.
06:19Yeah, listen.
06:20This is very much in my wheelhouse.
06:22Yes.
06:23I love busting a move.
06:24Yeah, yeah.
06:25I'm not sure if I want to do it on holiday.
06:28Do you know what I mean?
06:29I'm being very competitive, but also good about today.
06:32I don't think they'll expect the first activity.
06:35I think those things that we're doing with the adventure,
06:38that will cater very much to Barry,
06:40but the dancing, that also cater very much to Dean.
06:43So I'm feeling like if I can get just two ticks from the boys,
06:47I have to have this in the bag, right?
06:51Hello.
06:52Hey, hey, hey.
06:53Morning.
06:55Whilst Gio puts the finishing touches to Oti's day,
06:58the escapers are heading 12 miles north
07:00to the Moorish 12th century castle at Padern.
07:03The perfect place for her first surprise.
07:06A bit of sightseeing.
07:09This is one of the castles that is actually on the flag of Portugal.
07:13So I thought that we just come here
07:15and we just admire some of the history and the culture
07:18that comes with being in Portugal.
07:20Are you being serious?
07:22No, no, she is, she is.
07:23I think it was great.
07:24So we're going to stand here and look at this castle all day?
07:26Sure.
07:27Brilliant.
07:29I'm just joking.
07:30I hate you!
07:31We're riding!
07:32Oh my God!
07:33Yes!
07:34Oh my God!
07:35Yes!
07:36Now you're joking.
07:37Yes!
07:38Oh my God.
07:39Now you're joking.
07:41Well done, you saved that.
07:43You saved that.
07:44That was great.
07:45Because up until now, this was getting boring.
07:49I love adventure and I love adrenaline.
07:51I love getting myself to a place where I'm like,
07:53this scares the life out of me,
07:55but I'm going to do it because it does.
07:57Come on.
07:58Barry, how's your driving?
08:00Get ready to eat dust, guys!
08:02Maybe I should have told you before,
08:04now I've been disqualified seven times for speeding.
08:07Wow.
08:08No, you haven't.
08:09Yeah.
08:10Yeah.
08:11Yeah.
08:12Oh!
08:13Yeah.
08:14Oh!
08:15Oh!
08:16Oh!
08:17Oh!
08:18Speed ahead!
08:19Come on, Barry!
08:20Ah! Ah!
08:23This is...
08:25Come on!
08:33Huh?
08:34This is...
08:37Move on, Moussey!
08:41We're coming for you, Moussey!
08:47Move out of the way!
08:50Ah!
08:52I love speed.
08:54I just love excitement.
08:55I love the risk and the danger, yes.
08:57There was one point where I did fear for my life.
08:59I thought to myself,
09:00has Barry McGrigan ever passed his driving test?
09:03Because we were going on a single lane,
09:05and Barry tried to overtake Voday.
09:11Ah!
09:12Portugal is the same side of the road as Icelandic.
09:15I am!
09:16I've got no!
09:18I can't help us, Barry!
09:20We're on the right, not Barry!
09:26He's leaving us for a duck, Barry!
09:28Yeah!
09:29Oh no!
09:30Not the bus!
09:31Oh my god!
09:32New place!
09:41This morning was so much fun.
09:43I mean, look at me.
09:44I'm grey and brown and dirty, but you've got the biggest smile on my face.
09:50Woohoo!
09:51I really think that this morning I gave them a little bit of a taste of me.
09:55I loved it.
09:56I thought you were going to let me pass.
09:58Barry!
09:59This is not the Formula One!
10:01That was 10 out of 10.
10:03I would give that a solid 10 out of 10.
10:05I'd give it 12 out of 10.
10:07Yeah.
10:08Fantastic.
10:09The fact that this is only her first activity out of three.
10:12God knows what the rest of the day has.
10:14I mean, we were exhausted.
10:15We were ready for an afternoon nap.
10:18Fresh from her victory, Oti's taking the boys for lunch in the sleepy village of Alta,
10:24famous for its natural springs.
10:26I tell you what, we will not be able to beat that.
10:29Excitement and enthusiasm and fun.
10:31It was fun.
10:32I was great.
10:33But you get very competitive as well.
10:35Where do you think you get it from?
10:37When I was a kid I was always into sport.
10:39Then I got into boxing.
10:41Bingo.
10:42I knew right away this was going to be something I could be really good at.
10:47You know, wanting to be successful and wanting to be the best at something,
10:50like I suppose you did in your dancing.
10:53You have the sort of drive that would have made you the very best.
10:57Yeah, yeah.
10:58It feels good when you work hard and you achieve something.
11:01I believe that part of me comes from my parents, really.
11:04Because my dad, of course we grew up in South Africa and it was really tough.
11:08And being a lawyer, seeing him wake up every morning, really work hard and also offend people.
11:14But then come back home and then continue working.
11:17And that became the culture of the family.
11:19My dad is like, if I'm working hard, you guys have to work hard as well.
11:23Because I'm not always going to be around.
11:24Yeah.
11:25And my mom was always about the sports.
11:27I started doing national competitions when I was seven, eight years old.
11:32So I was really young.
11:33And every single sport that we did, my mom was like, if you're going to use your time, you've got to be the best.
11:40And you've got to work.
11:41Isn't that interesting?
11:42And you really have to push.
11:43When you're a dancer, like, your body is your job.
11:48And it's really difficult because we have to retire so young.
11:52Yeah.
11:53Oh, it's how you doing?
11:54Oh, my God.
11:55Beautiful.
11:56This one is salad of octopus.
11:57Great.
11:58And this one is fresh and cold salad.
12:00This one is from Algarve.
12:01Oh, now.
12:02Enjoy your meal.
12:03Thank you very, very much.
12:05I'm going to dig in.
12:06I've never had an octopus salad.
12:07This looks good.
12:08Barry, do you remember how we were in the jungle?
12:10You would finish all my meals.
12:11Yeah.
12:22Unpack then swim or jump right in.
12:24Darling, hold my hand.
12:27The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
12:31Sunbed snoozing or speedboat cruising?
12:34Darling, hold my hand.
12:37The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
12:47Three stars from I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here are in the Algarve competing to deliver the best holiday adventure and be crowned the champion Great Escaper.
12:56Today, Oti Mabusi is in charge and she's planned an activity for Dean McCulloch and Barry McGuigan.
13:02She hopes will give her the edge in the competition.
13:04My activities describe exactly who I am.
13:07Very adventurous.
13:08Very adventurous.
13:09But then the dance.
13:10The dance is quite important.
13:12I think they'll ease into it and they'll definitely enjoy it.
13:15And they'll be like, yeah, this is more of what we thought you'd do on holiday.
13:18Oh!
13:19Here we go!
13:20Okay.
13:21This is a folk group who actually do traditional dancing that is, like, known from the area.
13:28Okay.
13:29And we are gonna get involved!
13:30Yes, Barry!
13:31Yes!
13:32Yes!
13:33We're gonna do some dancing!
13:34Come on!
13:35Come on!
13:36Come on!
13:37I really and truly believe that when you go out and see other people's styles of dance,
13:55that's them sharing their history with you.
13:59Dating back to the 19th century, Corradinho is a lively couples dance, born, legend has it,
14:05when a Spanish man tried to win the heart of a local woman with his nifty footwork.
14:10I've never ever in my life done this style of dance.
14:13Okay.
14:14I don't care.
14:15You can pick it up like that.
14:16Yes, I've already picked it up, but that's not the point.
14:18And he's just a dancer in there, so it's just this idiot that's gonna look like a clown.
14:23Hey!
14:24Woo!
14:25Well done.
14:26Congratulations.
14:27Are you ready to learn?
14:29Oh, yes!
14:30I'm completely out of my comfort zone, and you know that.
14:34It is, it is not me.
14:38I think he thought we were just coming to observe the dance, but when the dance teacher
14:41turned around and said, no, it's your turn, I could feel Barry quivering.
14:45Yeah.
14:46You're gonna put this arm.
14:47Yeah.
14:48Like this.
14:49Okay.
14:50Here.
14:51Yeah.
14:52Yeah.
14:53Okay.
14:54Now we're gonna do little steps like this.
14:55Now you're gonna run.
14:56Go.
14:57Faster?
14:58Yeah.
14:59Let's go faster.
15:00Faster.
15:01Faster.
15:02Faster.
15:03Oh my God!
15:04Oh my God!
15:05That's good.
15:06We went so fast!
15:07That's it!
15:08That's it!
15:09That's it!
15:10Okay, let's do it again.
15:11You are exactly my demographic to teach.
15:15So we could win Strictly Berry.
15:17I'm feeling very excited.
15:18I love trying something new when I come on holiday, and I would never get the chance to
15:22do this otherwise.
15:23But it is very, very fast, and the kids are like five and they're doing it really well.
15:27Is anyone else nervous?
15:28Yeah!
15:29Yes!
15:30Can we start?
15:31Yes!
15:32Let's go!
15:33One, two, three!
15:34One, two, three!
15:35One, two, three!
15:36One, two, three!
15:37Savannah!
15:39Switch!
15:40Up!
15:41One, two, three!
15:42One, two, three!
15:44Up the knee!
15:46Now it's just beautiful.
15:47Right?
15:48Okay.
15:49Right?
15:50Spit it!
15:51Fast!
15:52Fast!
15:53Oh my God!
15:54Change!
15:55One, two, three!
15:56One, two, seven!
15:57One, two, three!
15:58One, two, three!
15:59One, two, three!
16:00One, two, three!
16:01One, two, three!
16:06What a way to end the day.
16:08I don't know how she's managed this.
16:10Barry and I don't stand a chance for the rest of the week.
16:14Yay!
16:15Good!
16:16Yay!
16:17Thank you very much.
16:18Thank you so much.
16:19What would you give us out of ten?
16:20Eight.
16:21Oh!
16:22I can't handle an eight!
16:25Even for me?
16:26No, you're a ten.
16:27Thank you, darling!
16:28You're a full ten.
16:29That's my girl!
16:30I loved the dancing and they were all just beautiful people, the whole lot of them.
16:35But it was great fun and they were very patient teachers.
16:39So yeah, an eventful day and I genuinely really enjoyed it.
16:43The dancing was amazing.
16:44When you see the little kids and they love it so much and then you see how they're guided
16:48by the older generation and you can see how community is supposed to work.
16:53It took me back home to South Africa.
16:55I love the fact that they still do this and it feels really like a community and the reason
17:01why I started dancing in South Africa, we had that apartheid era.
17:06There were no places where little black kids could dance and so my mum formed her own dance
17:12school.
17:13We were safe.
17:14We had ambition in that room.
17:16We were focused and we were doing something useful for our future.
17:20And that tonight reminded me of why, you know, I love dance and I stayed in it.
17:26It's just that community.
17:27Yeah.
17:28Well, I found out more about Oti today, stuff we didn't find out in the jungle.
17:32So she grew up in a very difficult time, great mum, very competitive, great teacher, patient.
17:39Getting to hear her talk about her family and what led her to where she is today was really, really special.
17:46She has determination and ambition, but she has such a big heart.
17:51I really hope my day was successful.
17:54I definitely think Barry and Dean enjoyed it.
17:56And then at the end, big smiles all around.
17:59Barry.
18:00Yeah.
18:01Good luck tomorrow.
18:03You've got a tough act to follow.
18:04Okay.
18:05To bed we go.
18:06Let's rock and roll.
18:16Today, it's Barry's chance to shine.
18:18And he's confident that his day has all the winning ingredients.
18:22I think I've got a wonderful day planned.
18:25I don't think it.
18:26I know it.
18:27For me, I want to give Oti and Dean some escapism.
18:30The thing I like doing most of all is relaxing and enjoying just quiet time.
18:35And it'll be interesting to see what they're like when they chill out.
18:40There's a slight air of trepidation because I don't know what's happening.
18:44And there's something telling me that Barry doesn't know what's happening either.
18:48He's a bit unorganized, I would say, but…
18:52All day yesterday, he thought we were in Spain.
18:57We had to remind Barry last night at the Portuguese folk dance that we were in Portugal.
19:02It's not looking good.
19:08I got a bit sick from Oti about burning the rice and beans when I was in the jungle.
19:13Okay.
19:14So, I would love to cook them something nice, somewhere beautiful.
19:19I'd like to be out on the sea.
19:21We can work a lot with that.
19:22Okay.
19:23So, what about a luxury boat?
19:24You can go on, you can cook them a meal.
19:27There's a little market near where the boat's going to be.
19:29You can shop around.
19:30Barry, each morning, tries to coax me to go to the gym with him.
19:33He does.
19:34He thinks it's a lovely time, but it's just not my idea of a very nice day out.
19:38I'd love to do something physically demanding.
19:41Yeah, okay.
19:42So, I like all that sort of stuff.
19:44So, what do you recommend?
19:46Cool.
19:47I think kayaking with Tick the Box.
19:49What do you think?
19:50Perfect.
19:51Yeah, if you're having fun, you don't feel like you're working out.
19:53Exactly.
19:54Yeah.
19:55I think we've got something very special planned.
19:56It's both exciting and beautiful.
19:58I'm very much looking forward to seeing what Oti and Dean think about it.
20:05Barry's first activity is just east of the popular resort town of Albafera.
20:09It's meant to be a chilled out treat, but like everything Barry does, it involves a bit of a workout.
20:16Look at this.
20:17We're here at this spectacular looking beach and I'm going to bring them kayaking.
20:22And we're going to go around the cove and it's going to be tough, but it's going to be beautiful.
20:27Where are we going?
20:28We're going to poodle along the coast and look at the spectacular views.
20:32The thing about professional boxing is it's a game of dropping weights and watching what you have to eat.
20:37And after years and years of that, I've always kept myself in shape and I love kayaking.
20:42It's a really good workout, so I hope they enjoy it.
20:45I know I will.
20:46I hope they will too.
20:47We don't try and race or anything.
20:49It's just a bit of fun.
20:50Why don't I believe that?
20:52He didn't get to overtake you yesterday, so this might be Ding Ding Run 2.
20:55No, no, it's not Ding Ding Run 2.
20:57We just want you to be safe and enjoy it.
20:59That'll be fine.
21:00As long as we overtake you, that'll be absolutely fine.
21:02If you overtake me, you've had it.
21:04This too, the orange one and the yellow one are your kayaks.
21:08Great.
21:09Like the Portugal flag.
21:10It needs the green.
21:12Oh, is the green on the flag?
21:14It's green, yellow, red.
21:15I think this is Romania.
21:16Oh, is that not the Portugal flag?
21:17No.
21:18No.
21:19What's that?
21:20Safety.
21:21It's safety, yeah.
21:22Flags are not my strong point.
21:24This is Romania.
21:25This activity is 100% Barry's type on paper.
21:30It's active.
21:32You're breaking a sweat.
21:33You're working your upper body.
21:34All of the things that we don't want to do on a holiday.
21:40Bye, guys.
21:41Okay, bye.
21:43Oh, look at that.
21:44Ooty, look.
21:45Oh, stunning.
21:47Oh, I love this.
21:50Okay, left, right, cha-cha-cha.
21:57Right, left, cha-cha-cha.
22:01Wait, I feel like we're going in the wrong direction.
22:03Oh, no.
22:04I feel like every time you go opposite to me...
22:06Yeah, we're going the wrong way, yeah.
22:08We've been blown off course.
22:10Yeah.

22:57Spa or pool bar?
23:03The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
23:06In the deep blue Atlantic waters of the Algarve,
23:24former boxer Barry McGuigan is taking ex-jungle mates Oti Mabusee and Dean McCulloch kayaking,
23:29in an attempt to win the title of Greatest Escaper.
23:32It's Barry's idea of the perfect day out.
23:35His friends? Hmm, not so much.
23:38How do you go on a straight line, Barry?
23:40I just do this. Oti, can you do what I do?
23:43Yeah.
23:44So we can get a wee bit of movement?
23:46I'm doing it.
23:47Hey, why are you not rowing?
23:49No.
23:50I mean, I've done my years on circuit.
23:51I just need this hard work.
23:52My arms are burning.
23:53I was hot in the sun.
23:54And then I thought, you've got this.
23:56I just hate it so much.
24:00Barry, what's the plan here?
24:02Because I fear I've lost my co-pilot.
24:04She's half asleep.
24:05I mean, I know by the looks of things, you want to make your way round to Alicamza.
24:08I want to go out to the Atlantic Ocean.
24:11I know I can tell.
24:12You're not ready for that?
24:13Yeah.
24:14Let's get back to the base then.
24:15I'll get back, thank you guys.
24:16Okie do.
24:17Are we going to race?
24:18Yeah.
24:19You ready?
24:20Yeah, let's do it.
24:21Three, two, one, go!
24:22Remember, left, right, left.
24:23Let's go!
24:25Let's go!
24:26Right!
24:27Come on, hey!
24:28Come on!
24:29Come on!
24:30Go!
24:31Go!
24:32We're actually beating him!
24:33Oh my God!
24:34We're beating him, Barry!
24:35I know you're beating him!
24:36You're beating me!
24:37Come on!
24:38We're beating him!
24:39Go!
24:40Go!
24:41We're beating him!
24:42Come on!
24:43No, you're not beating me yet!
24:44Come on!
24:45We're beating him!
24:46We're beating him!
24:47It's going to be delicious!
24:48No!
24:49Oh!
24:50Oh!
24:51We beat you there!
24:52Yes, you did.
24:53I have to say.
24:54I had a lovely time, and what I loved even more was beating Barry.
24:59Oh, yes!
25:00Woo-hoo!
25:01Woo-hoo!
25:02Ah!
25:03Ah!
25:04Ah!
25:05Ah!
25:06I hope they enjoyed it because, after all, this is a competition, and it's whoever puts
25:10on the best say, I want to win!
25:17Thank you very much, Barry.
25:18I appreciate it.
25:19You're welcome.
25:20Yeah, it was great.
25:21Thank you, Barry.
25:22It was good fun, thanks.
25:23It was really inspiring to see you literally still going, giving it.
25:25Yeah, thank you.
25:26All the gas you had, and I can't believe you still have it.
25:29That's amazing.
25:30When you're a fighter, it's with you to the day you die.
25:32The day when I stopped boxing, it was a hard thing to come to terms with.
25:36But...
25:37Was it like a loss?
25:38Yeah, fierce loss.
25:39The effort that I put in and the pain that I suffered to get into shape...
25:42Yeah.
25:43...was, like, incredible.
25:45For you, when you had those low moments, those tough moments...
25:48Yeah.
25:49...what were they and how did you get over them?
25:50Losing my title in Vegas, just over a year after I'd won the title.
25:54Ooh.
25:55And I fought 15 rounds.
25:56What?
25:57Yeah, I fought 15 rounds, yeah.
25:58And I was knocked down in the 15th round from sheer exhaustion.
26:03I wasn't hurt.
26:04I was simply unable to hold my hands up.
26:06Wow.
26:07And get out of the way.
26:08So, I said, right, that part of my life is finished now, so...
26:12I was only champion for a year, and I never regained the title, which was disappointing.
26:17But you have to change and refocus.
26:20That's the way I've lived my life.
26:21I've always been competitive.
26:23I've always wanted to do well at whatever I've done.
26:27Barry really opened up about how hard he pushed himself physically and mentally
26:32throughout his career to get to the success that he has.
26:36It was also really nice to hear Barry talking about grieving the loss of his career,
26:41and something I hadn't really thought of before.
26:43So, the fact that he shared that with us and was honest instead that it was really difficult
26:47was brave of him.
26:48Yeah.
26:49And letting go.
26:53The kayaks were challenging, whereas now we have a very relaxed evening.
27:00We're going to be taking them out on a lovely boat.
27:02They're going to have delicious food with a spectacular panoramic view of the coastline.
27:08I'm here today to buy some fish, and I'm going to do the cooking this evening.
27:12Didn't you make us eat burnt rice and burnt beans?
27:15I did that many times.
27:17Oh, boy.
27:20At home I'm lazy, so my wife cooks for me, so it's the first time.
27:24I've got a question for you.
27:25Yeah.
27:26Have you ever cooked fish before?
27:27Yes, I have.
27:28It's going to be fabulous.
27:29Yeah, it's some good fish.
27:30Red fish here.
27:31Oh.
27:33Can I hold it?
27:34Yeah.
27:35Those are some eyes.
27:36Oh, wow.
27:40It slipped out of my hand.
27:41I'm sorry.
27:43Oh, give him a clean.
27:44Yeah, okay.
27:45Give him a wash.
27:47I'm so sorry.
27:48What is this?
27:49Saolo.
27:50Gal negro.
27:51It's like a chicken.
27:52Gal is like a rooster.
27:53Galo negro would be the one, yeah.
27:55Okay.
27:56Absolutely.
27:57Can you fill it this first?
27:58Of course.
27:59That would be great.
28:00I think they'll be apprehensive about my cooking, no doubt about it.
28:03And I'd be a bit nervous about it because I know that they were given out about the burnt beans and rice,
28:08so I want to do a better job today.
28:10I'm scared because he said, Sondra does everything for me.
28:14His wife.
28:15So now I'm like, oh, she's not here.
28:18Maybe in the jungle he just thought, I'm not going to tell everyone that I'm a really good cook,
28:22otherwise they're going to make me the camp chef.
28:24Yeah.
28:25It's all going to come out today.
28:26Wow.
28:27We don't want to eat the fisheye because that's quite triggering for us.
28:30Yeah, you want me to take them out?
28:31No, no, no.
28:32Leave them.
28:33Leave them in.
28:34I had to eat them.
28:35I had like 14 of them.
28:37Yes.
28:38I remember now.
28:40Oh, the penny's dropped, has it?
28:44Barry's hoping his last surprise will distract Oti and Dean from his terrible cooking skills
28:50by serving them dinner on a luxury catamaran.
28:53Oh, Barry.
28:54Look at this.
28:55No way.
28:56You cannot say I haven't treated you.
28:58Are we going on this boat?
28:59Yes, sir.
29:00No.
29:01We are going out to sea.
29:03Now, let's get out of here.
29:05Yeah.
29:06Yeah.
29:07Let's go.
29:08It's good.
29:09All I imagine myself is just being like.
29:15Oti, you're like a Bond girl.
29:20I love it.
29:21This is so beautiful.
29:23I didn't expect this from Barry.
29:25No.
29:26Go on.
29:27Oh, that was so underwhelming.
29:30I mean, he's slaving away in the kitchen right now.
29:33Yes, he is.
29:34So, we are hopeful that this isn't going to turn out like a bush tucker tile.
29:38Oh, yeah.
29:39So, when was the last time you cooked a meal?
29:42Oh, not long back.
29:44A couple of weeks.
29:45And what was it?
29:46Baked potatoes.
29:48And beans and grated cheese.
29:54Oh, for the love of God.
29:55That's it.
29:56And did you put it in the microwave?
29:57Of course it is.
30:02Barry's meal of boiled potatoes and fried fish is finally ready to be served.
30:08A big step up from burnt rice and beans.
30:11Right, guys.
30:12Here we are.
30:13This is giving me flashbacks.
30:14Do you know?
30:15Do you know what I mean?
30:16Yes, yes.
30:19Sandra, your wife would be very proud of this dish.
30:22Well, thank you, Dean.
30:23And in fact, I think when she watches this, she's going to make you do more cooking.
30:26Exactly.
30:27That's the problem.
30:28So, how did you and Sandra meet?
30:30Well, we couldn't not meet because we lived across the road from one another.
30:34So, we grew up with each other, basically.
30:36And how long have you been married?
30:37This is our 44th year.
30:39Wow.
30:40Long time.
30:41I gave Sandy a ring when I was five years old.
30:44When you were five?
30:45Five years old.
30:46I gave her a wedding ring.
30:47She kept it.
30:48Oh, my word.
30:49So, there you are.
30:50I'm still madly in love with her.
30:51And I hope she's still madly in love with me.
30:54It's amazing.
30:55Barry has done well.
30:57The beginning of the day was hell.
30:59I hated it.
31:00But this, the food, everything else, I absolutely loved.
31:04Barry, this has been such a great meal.
31:07Such a great day, actually.
31:10I didn't expect Barry to want to do stuff like this on holiday and to share a sunset with
31:15us.
31:16And it seems almost sentimental.
31:18What a perfect way to end an amazing day from Barry.
31:21The food was great.
31:22The crack was great.
31:23The chats were great.
31:24It was brilliant.
31:25This has been one hell of a day.
31:28To finish off out in our catamaran, I think it's going to be a tough task to measure up to.
31:34Dean is the last to plan his day.
31:35And if he wants to win, he's got a hard act to follow after all the quad bikes and kayaks.
31:48My dream holiday soaks up culture, fun, and I love going out and having a good time.
31:54But I think this morning it might be quite nice to kick back and relax a wee bit.
31:58What is the spa culture like in the Algarve?
32:02So I've got the perfect spa in mind for you.
32:04Very natural.
32:05Keep you in touch with your jungle side as well as a trio.
32:08I don't think Barry's ever been to a spa.
32:10In the jungle, he was constantly brushing his hair and then his mum gifted him skin care
32:15for his skin.
32:16So he's quite a luxurious person.
32:19That might have something to do with it.
32:20Maybe we'll go shopping.
32:22Maybe we'll go shopping.
32:23Maybe we'll go shopping.
32:24No, my worst nightmare.
32:25So I love when I go away to be in amongst the trees or on the beach.
32:31So have you heard of razor clam fishing?
32:33No, tell me about it.
32:34Okay.
32:35I used to do this actually back when I was a little boy.
32:37It's actually really therapeutic as well.
32:38Is it?
32:39Yeah.
32:40Do you think what he does on holiday is something that you would typically do on holiday?
32:44No.
32:45So he's got his work cut out for him.
32:47He's got his work cut out.
32:48I think I'm going to have to lump it.
32:50We've not been able to let our hair down together much since we left the jungle.
32:54Yeah.
32:55So I think to end the trip on a high, I need to take Barry and Odie down the strip.
32:59Love it.
33:00Odie's strength is dancing.
33:02Barry's strength is boxing.
33:05My strength is taking holidays from work.
33:08So I think I've got this.
33:10Where does it look like we are, Odie?
33:15It looks like we are literally in the middle of nowhere.
33:18They're actually heading towards the Spanish border and the Castro Marim Nature Reserve,
33:24where Dean's planning to win over Odie and Barry with a relaxing spa day.
33:28We're here at a salt spa and there is wellness in the air because we've had quite a busy few days
33:35and it's time to just kick back, relax and float in the salty water.
33:40Look at this.
33:41Wow.
33:42Today we're going to be pampered.
33:44We're going to be preened.
33:45That's great.
33:46Barry, you're about to get a glow up and you're going to come out of here like a shiny two-pence piece.
33:51I don't need to be any more shiny. Look at my head.
33:54We need to cover ourselves in the salt.
33:57Really exfoliate your body.
33:59And then we just float in the water.
34:01Yeah.
34:02That's the part where I wish I had have gone to the gym, Barry.
34:05They used to have rock hard abdominals.
34:08Now, unfortunately, I've got a duvet over the top of them.
34:11You look wonderful.
34:12Oh.
34:13Haven't even reached the mud yet, but are we on there?
34:15Oh!
34:16Oh!
34:17Yeah.
34:25Oh, babes.
34:29Oh, yeah.
34:32I'm going on holiday with you forever.
34:39Ha-ha!
34:40Don't think we've forgotten about you at home, because you could also be in with a chance
34:45to win a seven-night holiday to the Algarve, courtesy of Jet 2 Holidays.
34:50We're also throwing in £3,000 spending money, too.
34:53Enter now for free.
34:55Go to the website before 3pm on Friday.
34:57You must be 18 or over.
34:59Good luck.
35:06Hiking or mountain biking?
35:09Darling, hold my hand!
35:12The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
35:16Beach Funday or Ice Cream Sundae?
35:19Darling, hold my hand!
35:22The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
35:32After two hectic days in the Algarve, Dean's hoping to find the winning formula by giving his old jungle mates, Oti and Barry, a very different day out.
35:39He's brought them to a salt spa for his favourite activity, relaxing.
35:45Can I let you both into a secret?
35:46Go on.
35:47So I've kept my jungle outfit in a bag in my bedroom and I've still not washed it.
35:56Yeah, same!
35:57I can't bring myself to put it in the machine.
36:01Every time I'm missing you, I just go and sniff the clothes.
36:04And that pungent smell of cockroaches and fish guts reminds me of you two.
36:10You're welcome.
36:11Just the two of us.
36:13Only us two.
36:18And now, we bake.
36:21Do you remember those feelings that you felt when you left the jungle?
36:28Yeah.
36:29I got out and I was on such a high and I really wish that that's where it ended because I'd been sent quite a few death threats.
36:39I didn't know you had death threats.
36:42Neither did I.
36:43I've never ever had them.
36:44There was something like 35.
36:4635?
36:47Yeah, there was 35.
36:48I think it's classified now as aggravated malicious contact is the official term for it.
36:54My agent said, look, there are threats to come to your work in the morning.
37:00I was like, for what?
37:02For like saying I'm a celebrity, get me out of here because I didn't want to be trapped in a box.
37:07Like, what have I said?
37:08What have I done?
37:09And they said, I don't think it's what you've done.
37:11I think it's who you are.
37:13Yeah.
37:14And then I realized, oh yeah, homophobia is still rife and there's no getting away from that.
37:21Then I start going over the things in my head that I could have done differently.
37:25And now you're dimming your own light for other people to satisfy them and you can never make anyone happy.
37:32I had the time of my life.
37:34I don't regret a single thing, even the screaming.
37:37Yeah.
37:38I was a bit shocked to hear that Dean had death stress.
37:42Whoever threatened him, it just sounds ridiculous.
37:45To actually go out and threaten someone is just unacceptable.
37:49I have to remember that as long as my mum is proud of me and my boyfriend is proud of me, that's all that matters.
37:56Yeah.
37:57Because I won't be able to keep everyone happy because if I was everyone's cup of tea, I'd be a mug.
38:01Yeah.
38:02And with this clay on us, I think that could be happening pretty soon.
38:05That could be happening as we speak.
38:07Dean's love of mindfulness and nature is also the inspiration for his next activity.
38:17When I'm on holiday, I like to do things that you wouldn't normally get to do.
38:21I had a little look and a chat with Gio and he's recommended this spot, which is very famous for clam fishing.
38:28It's going to be very relaxing.
38:30Okay.
38:31How many times can you say you went on holiday and you fished for clams, Barry?
38:34No, never done it before.
38:36I've never been fishing and I've never been fishing for clams.
38:39I like my holiday friends to be outside their comfort zone.
38:48Ahoy there!
38:49This is our friend.
38:50Hey!
38:51My name is Christina.
38:52How are you?
38:53Welcome.
38:54Good to meet you.
38:55So today I'm going to show you how to catch razor clams.
38:57Okay.
38:58A much sought after delicacy in the Algarve, razor clams are mollusks that love burrowing into sandy seabeds.
39:05Try and look for hole shape of a number eight.
39:08Okay?
39:09And then we use a technique with salt.
39:10Oh, I see.
39:11So the razor clam inside doesn't like it.
39:13Yes.
39:14It comes to the surface, you grab it.
39:15Let's play a game.
39:17Okay.
39:18You can collect the most razor clams in ten minutes.
39:21All right.
39:22Good.
39:23Right.
39:24Three, two, one.
39:25Go!
39:26I'm going to get over here.
39:27Uh-oh.
39:28Here we got it.
39:29Barry's got one, everyone.
39:31Get up, get up, get up, get up.
39:33Get ready to catch it.
39:34There you go.
39:35Go on, mate.
39:36Go on.
39:37Go on, Barry.
39:38Oh, no.
39:39No.
39:40He's gone.
39:41He's gone.
39:42The clam came out, saw by McGuigan, and run.
39:45I don't like to get my hands dirty looking for food.
39:49I'm not that girl.
39:50I can't say that Odie's having a ball.
39:52And now my back hurts.
39:54I need physio.
39:55I don't think she's quite appreciated the fact that this is a mindful activity of relaxation.
40:03Are you in there?
40:04All right, please don't start punching the sand, okay?
40:06Exactly.
40:07Grab it, grab it, grab it, grab it.
40:09Yeah.
40:10Yeah.
40:11Here we go.
40:12Yep.
40:14Got it.
40:15Yeah.
40:16That one.
40:18It will be quite awkward if I set this challenge and I come back when often.
40:21Yeah.
40:25Oh, God.
40:26They just keep winning.
40:29Clams.
40:30Got another one here, guys.
40:32Coming out.
40:33Oh, my God.
40:34I got one.
40:35Really?
40:36I got one.
40:37Yeah.
40:38All right, geez.
40:39Get it.
40:40Oh, my God.
40:41Get it.
40:42Get it.
40:43Get it.
40:44And then he's out.
40:45I got it.
40:46What is it?
40:47How many have you got?
40:48I've only got two.
40:49Two?
40:50I've got two.
40:51Come on.
40:52The next person to collect the clam wins.
40:55Oh, we just can call it a tie and go eat something.
40:59Are you happy with it being a draw?
41:01No.
41:02Has to be a winner.
41:06Come on.
41:07Oh, here we go.
41:08Yeah.
41:09Now.
41:10I did it.
41:11I did it.
41:12Yeah.
41:13Well done.
41:14Brilliant.
41:15You're the winner.
41:16I think this has been a roaring success.
41:18I mean, we're all feeling positively relaxed.
41:20I mean, I'm having a ball.
41:22I loved it.
41:23Didn't get enough bites.
41:24Got two.
41:25I can't think of anything worse.
41:27And for a girl with big boobs, bending over is not an ideal thing to do on my vacation.
41:34You know, I actually think that I was a fisherman in a past life.
41:37Is that right?
41:38Have I ever told you this?
41:39What are you laughing at?
41:41What?
41:42Why are you laughing?
41:44I just don't see it for you.
41:46What?
41:47It's the final night of the trip and I've got one more trick up my sleeve.
41:54We have had the most relaxing day and now it's time to hit the infamous Albuferra Strip.
42:11For our last activity, I thought I would take you back to a place that I came to exactly
42:1710 years ago because I came to the Albuferra Strip, but I can't remember leaving.
42:22And look, I'm five years sober this year and I thought that I would show you guys how you
42:29can still have fun in a night out.
42:31In sobriety?
42:32Exactly, Barry.
42:33What made you stop drinking?
42:35Alcoholism is in my family and there was one Monday I was going to work.
42:42On the way out, I was stepping over bottles that were due to go down to the bin and there
42:46was a two litre bottle of vodka, four bottles of wine and all these tins of gin and tonics.
42:53Never in my life did I ever think I would drink that much.
42:56And I knew I had a problem.
42:58And I said to my best mate, I think I'm just going to stop drinking for a month and just
43:02see what happens.
43:03And the one month turned into six months turned into a year.
43:07Having the courage to do that takes an awful lot of effort so congratulations on that.
43:11Thank you mate.
43:12I know you get it.
43:13I know you get it mate.
43:14And I thought tonight is the night for us to let our hair down, get our dancing shoes on
43:18and party!
43:20Cheers baby!
43:22Woo!
43:23This is something new.
43:24The cast will slap part two.
43:25And this time we're going to get funky, funky.
43:31We met in the jungle.
43:33Fuck.
43:34We never had a night out.
43:35Took a night to remember.
43:36And that was something that always made me really sad.
43:39And like now with you, I don't know what I expected.
43:43Awesome!
43:44It's gonna work!
43:45I spend my life in clubs DJing and that is my new hearty medicine.
43:51Bring all your friends.
43:52I'm DJing and they're in a bit.
43:54It's exactly how I like to spend my nights out and holiday.
43:56So the only thing I can remember about my night here was the bucking bronco.
44:00You have to get on it for all time space.
44:03Let's go!
44:04Who's got a euro?
44:06To the left.
44:07Take it back now yo.
44:08Tino!
44:09Tino!
44:10Come on!
44:11Tino!
44:12Take it back now yo.
44:13Woo!
44:14Woo!
44:152015 Dean wouldn't actually believe this.
44:19Making friends with Oti and Barry and coming back here to show them the chaos that I used to be.
44:25It really has felt special.
44:27Come on!
44:29What happened this time?
44:31It was great to see Dean doing this thing.
44:33He's really good at what he does and you can see how he gets the audience all worked up.
44:37To the left.
44:38Technical Fuentes.
44:39Back now yo.
44:40St Dean in his natural hypertension was, I think, just unforgettable.
44:46He loved DJing, he loved clubbing, and he's done this all so well.
44:53Shall we have a nightcap?
44:54We have to have a nightcap.
44:55What are we thinking?
44:56Whiskey!
44:57Camomile tea.
45:01Oti, Barry and Dean have each shared their perfect day out,
45:05and now they must decide who will be crowned the champion Great Escaper.
45:11Each one of your days have been fantastic.
45:13I hope you've enjoyed mine.
45:14Yeah, we did.
45:15So I think we've got to come to the stage now
45:17where we've got to make our mind up on who's won.
45:20Oti, your day was pretty amazing.
45:23When you surprised us with these incredible buggies,
45:27it was phenomenal.
45:28It's almost like you picked it especially for me.
45:31Barry, I did not know what to expect with your day,
45:34but I loved learning about you, Barry.
45:35I love it when you talk about how much you love your wife.
45:38And we went on the catamaran, and then you cooked,
45:42and we didn't die of food poisoning.
45:44We survived.
45:46And then Dean, the spa was fantastic.
45:50The way you opened up about the jungle.
45:52We hadn't realised what you were going through as a friend.
45:56Dino, the night was incredible.
45:59I've seen you in a whole new light.
46:01This is the real Dean McCullough.
46:04I have to think what things I wish I'd bring my family to do,
46:07and so I'm going to go with Barry.
46:10Yes!
46:12Thank you very much, Oti.
46:14Of all the things, those fast buggies,
46:16that was the thing I really loved.
46:18So, Dino, I'm really sorry.
46:20I'm going to go for Oti's day.
46:22Go on, Oti.
46:23Thank you, Oti.
46:23Well done.
46:24Thank you, Baza.
46:25The power is in my hand.
46:26Wow.
46:27It's going to be so hard to call this,
46:29but my absolute highlight of this whole entire trip
46:32has to be the three of us on the front of that catamaran
46:35watching the sunset.
46:36So, Barry, you are my winner.
46:40Yes!
46:42Thank you very much.
46:43It really, really was.
46:44And well done, you.
46:45Dean and Barry definitely have surprised me.
46:48I mean, there were bits about Dean that I didn't know,
46:51and then just getting to know who Barry was
46:53and how he lights up when he talks about his wife.
46:56We have experienced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity together
46:59living in the jungle.
47:00So, the fact that we've came here,
47:02we've almost debriefed.
47:03I'm actually a bit sad to be leaving.
47:05This has been the best holiday that I have ever been on.
47:08Group hug!
47:09To the greatest game!
47:10Oh, yeah!
47:11Yes!
47:13I'm absolutely thrilled to win this.
47:15And of course, the bottom line is
47:17I've learned so much more about Dean and Oti,
47:19and they'll be my friends for the rest of my life.
47:22When you win, you have to buy the drinks at the bar.
47:23Well, that's fine.
47:55Pool dipping or margarita sipping?
