00:00It's extremely worrying and, you know, I urge everybody to have calm.
00:04The right to protest is a really important principle in this country,
00:07but that does not give people the right to threaten, to harass,
00:10to intimidate people or to bring violence.
00:12And I want to thank the police in this situation particularly
00:15because I know that they were under quite a lot of assault
00:18and we've seen some extreme incidences.
00:19So I thoroughly condemn the activity that we saw last night.
00:22We have to maintain the rule of law and, you know, people have the right to protest
00:26but we cannot see that kind of violence in our communities across the country.
00:30Well, we're moving asylum seekers out of hotels.
00:32That's really important to us that we make sure that they are not in hotels.
00:35That was a pledge that we made at the election
00:37and we're having significant progress moving asylum seekers out of hotels.
00:40Moving them to military bases is a place where they can be contained,
00:43they can be managed, they can get access to the things that they need
00:47but we are able to much better monitor them
00:49and protect our communities from any untoward incidents.
00:52So we maintain our policy on using military bases
00:55to detain and manage the asylum system
00:59whilst we're closing down asylum hotels.
