Catholic Mass Today I Daily Holy Mass I Friday January 9 2026 I English Holy Mass
Transcript
00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, the Lord be with you.
00:20Welcome to Mass, wherever you might be.
00:22We come before our God full of joy, and full of gratitude for the incredible gifts that he's given us.
00:32But we also know our own weakness, and so we humbly but confidently come before our God, also seeking his pardon.
00:46Lord, sometimes we can take your precious gift of life for granted.
00:50Lord, have mercy.
00:54And Lord, sometimes we can take this beautiful world that you've given us for granted.
01:00Christ, have mercy.
01:03And Lord, sometimes in our selfishness and our hurry, we can take one another for granted.
01:09Lord, have mercy.
01:12May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to life everlasting.
01:18Let us pray.
01:20Grant, we ask, Almighty God, that the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world,
01:28made known by the guidance of a star, may be revealed ever more fully to our minds.
01:36And we ask this through Christ our Lord.
01:39Our first reading today is from St. John, a letter of St. John.
01:48Who can overcome the world?
01:52Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
01:56Jesus Christ, who came by water and blood, not with water only, but with water and blood,
02:04with the Spirit as another witness, since the Spirit is the truth.
02:08So that there are three witnesses, the Spirit, the water, and the blood, and all three of them agree.
02:16We accept the testimony of human witnesses, but God's testimony is much greater.
02:24And this is God's testimony, given as evidence for His Son.
02:30Everybody who believes in the Son of God has this testimony inside them.
02:36And anyone who will not believe God is making God out to be a liar,
02:42because he has not trusted the testimony God has given about His Son.
02:49This is the testimony.
02:52God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
02:58Anyone who has the Son has life.
03:01Anyone who does not have the Son does not have life.
03:04And I've written all this to you, so that you who believe in the name of the Son of God
03:11may be sure that you have eternal life.
03:16The Word of the Lord.
03:19And our response to the psalm today is,
03:23Praise the Lord Jerusalem.
03:25Praise the Lord Jerusalem.
03:28Praise the Lord Jerusalem.
03:30Try and praise your God.
03:31He has strengthened the bars of your gates.
03:35He has blessed the children within you.
03:38Praise the Lord Jerusalem.
03:41He established peace on your borders.
03:43He feeds you with finest wheat.
03:45He sends out His Word to the earth, and swiftly runs His command.
03:50Praise the Lord Jerusalem.
03:53He makes His Word known to Jacob, to Israel's laws and decrees.
03:59He has not dealt thus with other nations.
04:01He has not taught them His decrees.
04:05Praise the Lord Jerusalem.
04:08And we welcome the Gospel.
04:10Hallelujah, hallelujah.
04:12Jesus treats the good news of the kingdom, and heal all who were sick.
04:16Hallelujah.
04:18The Lord be with you.
04:24A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.
04:32Jesus was in one of the towns when a man appeared covered with neprosy.
04:42Seeing Jesus, this man fell on his face and implored Jesus.
04:49Sir, he said, if you want to, you can cure me.
04:54And Jesus stretched out his hands, touched him, and said, of course I want to.
05:01Be cured.
05:01His reputation continued to grow, and large crowds would gather to hear him and have their sickness cured.
05:25But he would always go off to some place where he could be alone and pray.
05:35The Gospel of the Lord.
05:42Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you.
05:46The fruit of the earth, the work of human hands.
05:48It will become for us the bread of life.
05:50By the mist of this water and wine, may we come to share in the divinity of Christ,
06:00who humbled himself to share in our humanity.
06:12Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you.
06:16Bread of the vine, the work of human hands.
06:18It will become our spiritual drink.
06:22Lord God, we ask you to receive us and be pleased with the sacrifice.
06:25We offer you with humble and contrite hearts.
06:28Lord, wash away my iniquity.
06:30Claims me from my sins.
06:40Pray now, my brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, your mighty Father.
06:46Receive with favour, O Lord, we pray, the offerings of us, your people,
06:56that what we profess with devotion and faith may be ours through these heavenly mysteries.
07:02We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
07:06The Lord be with you.
07:08Lift up your hearts.
07:10Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
07:12It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere.
07:19Give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
07:23For you have revealed the mystery of our salvation in Jesus Christ as a light for the nations.
07:32And when he appeared in our mortal nature, you made us new by the glory of his immortal nature.
07:41And so with angels, archangels, shrines for many as the hosts and powers of heaven,
07:46we sing the hymn of your glory, as without end we acclaim.
07:51Holy, holy, holy Lord God of hosts,
07:54heaven and earth are full of your glory.
07:56Hosanna in the highest.
07:58Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
08:01Hosanna in the highest.
08:03You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
08:12Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall,
08:18so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
08:22At the time he was betrayed, and entered willingly into his passion,
08:27he took bread, and giving thanks, he broke it,
08:30gave it to his disciples, saying,
08:31Take this, all of you, and eat of it,
08:33for this is my body,
08:35which will be given up for you.
08:38In a similar way, when supper was ended,
08:59he took the chalice, and once more, giving thanks,
09:01he gave it to his disciples, saying,
09:03Take this, all of you, and drink from it,
09:05for this is the chalice of my blood.
09:07The blood of the new and eternal covenant,
09:10which will be poured out for you and for many,
09:13for the forgiveness of sins.
09:16Do this in memory of me.
09:33The mystery of faith.
09:36When we eat this bread, and drink this cup,
09:39we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again.
09:43Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection,
09:46we offer you, Lord, the bread of life,
09:49and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks,
09:52that you've held us worthy to be in your presence,
09:54and to minister to you.
09:56Humbly, we pray,
09:57that partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
09:59we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
10:04Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world.
10:07Bring her to the fullness of charity,
10:10together with Leo, our Pope,
10:12Charles, our Bishop,
10:14all the clergy,
10:15and the whole of God's people.
10:18Remember also, our brothers and sisters,
10:19who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
10:22and all who have died in your mercy.
10:25Welcome them into the light of your faith.
10:29For the blessed virgin Mary,
10:32mother of God,
10:33St. Joseph,
10:34the spouse,
10:35the blessed apostles,
10:36and all the saints,
10:37who have pleased you throughout the ages,
10:39we may merit to be
10:40coheirs to eternal life,
10:43and may praise and glorify you
10:44through your Son,
10:45Jesus Christ.
10:50Through him, and with him,
10:52and in him,
10:52O God, Almighty Father,
10:54in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
10:56all glory and honour is yours,
10:58forever and ever.
11:02Let us pray together
11:03the beautiful family prayer
11:04that Jesus taught us to pray.
11:07Our Father,
11:09who art in heaven,
11:10hallowed be thy name.
11:12Thy kingdom come,
11:13thy will be done on earth,
11:14as it is in heaven.
11:16Give us this day our daily bread,
11:19and forgive us our trespasses,
11:21as we forgive those
11:22who trespass against us,
11:24and lead us not into temptation,
11:27but deliver us from evil.
11:29Deliver us, Lord,
11:29we pray from every evil,
11:31graciously grant peace in our day,
11:33by the help of your mercy,
11:35and be always free from sin,
11:37and safe from all distress,
11:39as we await the blessed hope,
11:41and the coming of our Saviour,
11:43Jesus Christ.
11:45Lord Jesus Christ,
11:47who said to your Apostles,
11:48Peace I leave you,
11:49my peace I give you.
11:51Look not on our sins,
11:53but on the faith of your Church,
11:55and graciously grant her peace,
11:56and unity in accordance with your will,
11:59who live and reign forever and ever.
12:02The peace of the Lord
12:03be with you always.
12:04Let us offer each other a sign of peace.
12:08Peace now,
12:08wherever you may be.

12:15you take away the sins of the world,
12:17have mercy on us.

12:45behold him who takes away the sins of the world,
12:48as to those called to the supper of the Lamb.
12:51Lord,
12:52I am not worthy,
12:53that you should enter under my roof.
12:55Let me say the word,
12:57and my soul shall be healed.
13:00My Jesus,
13:01I believe that you are present,
13:02in the most blessed sacrament.
13:04I love you above all things,
13:06and I desire to receive you into my soul.
13:09Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
13:13commonly spiritually,
13:14into my heart,
13:15I embrace you as if you were already there,
13:17and unite myself wholly to you.
13:21Never permit me to be separated from you.
13:24Amen.
13:25Let us pray.
13:28O God,
13:29who touch us through our partaking of your sacrament,
13:33work, we pray,
13:34the effects of its power in our hearts,
13:37that we may be made fit to receive your gift,
13:41through this very gift itself.
13:44And we ask this through Christ's hand.
13:46The Lord be with you.
13:49May almighty God bless you,
