A 28-year-old woman was brutally murdered by slitting her throat in the Chapalaghatta area near the city railway station in the early hours of Tuesday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Uma, who worked in railway catering. Police said she was married 13 years ago and had three sons. She separated from her husband, a native of Andhra Pradesh, around five to six years ago. Two of her children were living with her, while one son stays with his father.
According to police sources, Uma was allegedly involved in an illicit relationship with a local youth. Investigators suspect that the man with whom she was in a relationship may be behind the murder.
Superintendent of Police S. Jahnavi, Additional SP G. Manjunath and DySP T. Manjunath visited the crime scene and conducted an inspection. Police said a case is being registered at Chittawadgi Police Station and further investigation is underway.
