00:00So now it's just changed since the winter meetings.
00:03No.
00:04Any parades on anything?
00:06Nothing.
00:07Any expectations?
00:08No, I know the front office, I know they're grinding away and trying to see things.
00:16Had we already signed Rosario back by then?
00:19That was after the winter meeting.
00:20That was after.
00:21Yeah, so obviously excited to get him back.
00:26Really, I think one of the things that stood out about Rosie that I didn't know just playing against him, obviously.
00:34Known good player, but he came in and was not only super productive and provided, you know, really what we needed from the right side of the plate.
00:44But what a good pro too, like just really good in the room, really good work habits, always ready, you know.
00:52He could sit there for a day or he could sit there for eight days and go in and do the job.
00:58So excited to get him back in the mix and then we'll see where the rest of the winter goes.
01:03You see him as a first base off?
01:05Yeah, so one of the things I made sure I'm like, you got your first base club.
01:09So that's one of the positions we'll work him out at.
01:14I think, you know, he lives in the Tampa area.
01:16I think he's going home to the DR for Christmas and then he'll be back in, he'll probably be at the complex a fair amount in January and, you know, kind of working that first base into the mix.
01:28So, he started to do it a little bit with the Nationals last year, never ended up playing but was doing the work over there a little bit.
01:34So, obviously, we'll start to ramp that up with him a little more to have that as an option.
01:40Between him and Caballero and Cabrera, that's pretty good versatility you got for those guys.
01:44Yeah.
01:45Does that feel like it gives you some options?
01:47Yeah, no question.
01:48You know, versatility is, you know, in today's game is so valuable.
01:55Just, again, as the game over the last 25 years has shifted from 10, 11 pitchers to now 13 pitchers and, you know, having only really four bench options every day, the more flexibility you can have, not only from your bench guys, but even some of your starters that can move around, you know, it creates a lot of value.
02:16Have you guys been at or scheduled a meeting yet?
02:22No.
02:23Are you back to?
02:25I don't know.
02:26I don't know.
02:27I know that you said that you typically stay out of free agent talks with guys that you'd be trying to bring back.
02:35But have you reached out to Bellinger since?
02:37No, I'll definitely reach out to him here around the holidays where I kind of touch base with a lot of our guys.
02:45So, we'll see.
02:48Are you surprised taking this along?
02:50I mean, you guys want him back.
02:51He seemed like he had a great time last year.
02:54I don't know if I'd characterize him like that.
02:57I don't know exactly how it's all playing out.
03:00So, Jazz's name has popped up in some trade rumors.
03:05Mm-hmm.
03:06Do you expect him to be on your roster?
03:08I do.
03:09I do.
03:10But again, you never know what's going to happen in the winter and as teams are, you know, maneuvering their rosters and whatever.
03:19So, you know, but I don't, yeah, I do expect him.
03:24But you never know what's going to happen where teams match up on certain things.
03:30So, but no, I'm planning on him being right in the middle of the lineup.
03:35He's one of those guys who can be emotional sometimes with his name being out there.
03:40Have you spoken to him this offseason about those kinds of?
03:44Not about, not about that stuff.
03:46That's just the nature of the business.
03:48You know, I mean, guys' names are going to pop up.
03:51A lot of times it's a lot about nothing or teams that call and ask about something.
03:58So, I have not, I have spoken with Jazz a couple times this winter so far, but not about any of that.
04:07What has this month been like for you when you're seeing teams around you make moves and you're kind of just waiting for you guys to?
04:13Well, I mean, the one thing is I know we have a really good team, you know, right now.
04:18We have a lot of really good players on our roster.
04:20It's probably not finished.
04:22There'll be tweaks, I'm sure, up until spring training.
04:25So, you know, whatever happens, you know, our expectation is that we're going to be really good and that'll be our focus on getting ready.
04:36And, you know, who ends up being there, you know, come spring training, that'll be.
04:42You know, that's the front office kind of doing their thing and working through.
04:47And, again, you need, it always takes more than just us to tango.
04:51You know, it takes sometimes other clubs, sometimes obviously free agents and the opportunities they have in front of them.
04:58So, you know, however it lands, my expectation is that we're going to be really good and that's how we'll prepare.
05:05Bednar, now in the WBC, obviously you've got other guys, big guys.
05:09Yeah.
05:10And while you probably enjoy them getting the experience, you have a whole new breath.
05:14You have a whole new breath.
05:15Yeah, I mean, look, it's become such an awesome tournament.
05:19And, you know, I think, I think we all got into it, especially the last one.
05:24I know, you know, seeing the way it all shook out and, you know, it kind of captivated the baseball world, I think.
05:32So, I think a lot of guys see that and want to be a part of that and to be, to go play meaningful baseball, you know, in February and March, I think it's a good thing.
05:47It's good for our sport.
05:49It's good for our players as long as they stay healthy.
05:52So, maybe you hold your breath a little bit, but you also understand that it's here and that it's an option for players.
05:59So, you're just trying to get them in the best position to be healthy and safe coming out of it and then just enjoy watching them go compete at a high level.
06:10What did you think of seeing Weaver go over to the Nets?
06:13You know, obviously Weaver's played a big role for us.
06:17So, I actually texted with him yesterday.
06:20You know, happy for him to, you know, get a really good deal.
06:26He served.
06:28A lot of the, you know, big game.
06:33But, the Russell in the last few years, you know, we got him.
06:38Kind of seemed like not a big move at the time in 23, late in that season.
06:43And, to kind of turn into the reliever in the role he ended up having for us the next two seasons.
06:49Credit to him for going out there and kind of, you know, making a little alter to his career and paying dividends.
06:57What have you thought of all these Yankees going over to the Nets the last few years?
07:01It's just, well, yeah, and Weaver.
07:03It's a little different, but.
07:05Yeah.
07:06It's a tough task.
07:08Not crazy.
07:09It's a tough task.
07:10Not bloody the boss.
07:12OK.
07:13Alright, thanks.
07:14Thanks, man.
