00:00Aaron, how would you describe an emotional rollercoaster to stay alive there?
00:04Yeah, obviously awesome.
00:08Just the continue to keep your nose down and compete when it's not looking great.
00:14Just a lot of really good quality at-bats to work our way back into it.
00:18Lots of important plays in the field and the bullpen just piecing it together so well.
00:27I think without really overtaxing anyone too, which obviously is big going into another game tomorrow.
00:35Perhaps no swing bigger than Aaron Judge's today in that fourth inning.
00:39Off the bat, what are you thinking when you see that ball go towards the left field?
00:43Are you thinking that's staying fair?
00:45I did because it held right away.
00:49I have such a good angle from where I sit on fair foul down the left field line.
00:57So I was kind of giving it some by-language, but I felt like it was going to hold.
01:03And the win most of the night, you know, you saw on the barger pop fly, the ball was carrying the left.
01:09And that, at bat, when I looked up, the flag was dead.
01:13But, so, probably keeping it from maybe blowing it foul or even deeper.
01:19But, just a really good swing to keep himself tight to that ball to be able to not spin off and just hook it and keep it fair.
01:29Stay on there, Bruce.
01:30Thank you, Bruce.
01:31You were confident in your team before the game, but when you're down 6-1, what are you thinking?
01:37Does it change your mindset?
01:39No, you just, it's competition.
01:41You just, you know, play off baseball, too.
01:44Anything can happen.
01:46And, you know, you just got to keep grinding away.
01:50And, you know, to get two back, you know, in that, what was it, the third, you know, the 6-3 there, it's like, okay, settled back into it a little bit.
02:00And, obviously, Judgey hits the big homer and we're able to tack on.
02:04But, just an awesome team win.
02:06So many guys playing an important role in some way, shape, or form makes it a lot of fun.
02:13You've got three wins in elimination games now.
02:15Can you comment on that?
02:16Yeah, we need another one tomorrow.
02:19So, we'll enjoy this for about 10 minutes and get ready for tomorrow.
02:26Up front of your left, Aaron, Chris.
02:28With how far in that ball was on Jody's hands, 100 miles an hour, were you at all shot with his ability to get his hands in and call it as far as he did?
02:39No, I mean, it's an amazing swing.
02:41You know, it's shades of April Martinez right there, taking that high and tight one and keeping it fair down the line.
02:48Manny Ramirez used to do that really well, too.
02:51But, just a great swing on a pretty nasty pitch, obviously.
02:56Your bright hair, the hitty.
02:59Is his caballero okay?
03:01Yeah.
03:02What is that?
03:02It's his finger that, you know, he's kind of really the whole second half is kind of every now and then on a swing, it kind of acts up on.
03:09And when they're going to throw a bullpen game tomorrow and not telling him what their plans are until the morning, how does that impact your ability to game plan?
03:18Or knowing it's a bullpen game, do you just maybe tend to drift towards your best lineup?
03:23What, right, could worry about matchups that you don't know about?
03:26Um, no, I'm probably leaning towards a little more true balance in the order, knowing, you know, try and make them make some tough decisions throughout.
03:36I'll go down to it, Ian, the jump.
03:39But, now the judge has added a very dramatic home run to base hits this postseason.
03:45Do you think this entire experience is having a liberating impact on him and Mike Bodewell going forward?
03:52I mean, honestly, I, you guys ask me all the time about how he, like, he handles it all so well.
03:59So, he'll be, you know, it's like on to the next one now and be ready to go.
04:05But, I mean, obviously, just, I'm happy for him in that he had such an amazing, you know, gain, really.
04:13And you consider the defense as well.
04:16Just an awesome MVP-like performance.
04:19But, you know, regardless, I don't worry about Aaron and his, you know, state, even understanding all the outside rules.
04:28There are two things that pass on, huh?
04:32One is, how many people you think who've played could turn a hundred, a couple of inches off the plate and keep it fair for him to run a few away?
04:42Yeah.
04:43Well, I named two, maybe.
04:44Yeah.
04:44And Edgar and Manny.
04:46Those are two that stand out.
04:48Those right-handed hitters that took that ball kind of at him in and able to hammer it fair, you know, to the pull side.
04:56So, just a, just a great swing in that spot against, obviously, Varlin, who's, you know, you know, obviously been a huge weapon for them down the stretch.
05:05And we saw him in Toronto.
05:09I mean, the other thing is just, I almost don't want to lose the complete game.
05:13He had an RGI double.
05:14He stayed in a run down long enough to get an older third base to score a sacrifice fly.
05:18He made a sprawling catch to see a run.
05:20He scared the heck out of them and got intentionally walked and scored a run.
05:23Yeah.
05:23I just wonder what you think about the full Aaron Judge experience.
05:26Yeah.
05:26I mean, it was, it was best player in the game, high performance.
05:31It was, you know, special.
05:34When obviously, you know, needless to say, we're taxed against the wall and then some in a game-free situation.
05:41Fourth riding back.
05:42Aaron, can you expand upon the performance of the bullpen tonight and also how it's come together over the last month after some struggles earlier?
05:48Yeah, they were awesome.
05:50And, again, I don't think any of them, hopefully, not overly taxed, too, with the game tomorrow.
05:56But, you know, Cruz coming in and kind of settling things.
06:00Camilo continuing to really throw the ball incredibly well.
06:04Well, Tim Hill, you know, Tim Hill coming in and getting that final out and then going back out knowing he's got a stick-based springer.
06:12But then we added to the lead a little bit.
06:15So, the fact that he was able to get two guys out there and then that kept him in play to face Schneider.
06:22And, you know, the add-on run that we had and him getting the first two outs of that inning was really big.
06:29Because then you could afford to, you know, Schneider puts a pretty good swing on it but flies out to left.
06:33And then that allowed us to shorten things with Devin and Buss finishing the last three innings, you know, in a shared situation.
06:42So, really good job by all the Penn guys and doing it efficiently, too.
06:49Sorry, what, Kerry?
06:52I was following up on that help beat was what Devin did tonight.
06:55And was him going more than one inning or another up?
06:58Something you guys talked about previously?
06:59He hadn't done it right here.
07:00Yeah, I don't think he's done it in a couple years.
07:02But, you know, obviously this is the time when, you know, you're going to need it every now and then.
07:09So, he was efficient, you know, in his inning in the, what, seventh there.
07:15So, I knew for sure I wanted him to go out and face Clement.
07:20And then, you know, if he was efficient, you know, Wellesley and I kind of talked about giving him Santander, too.
07:27And then, you know, the fact that, you know, Clement, it's another hit.
07:33But he's able to really make a couple of really good pitches to get the strike out of Santander, which was big.
07:41That sure did a little bit for Bednar.
07:43And Bednar getting two quick outs there in the eighth.
07:47You know, I think he threw five pitches to get out of it.
07:51You know, set him up pretty well for the ninth.
07:52The last one's Gene and third order, right?
07:56What is it about Aaron that makes him such a contagious figure for his teammates?
08:02It just almost seems like they go as he goes.
08:05What do we think that character is about?
08:07Who he is day in and day out.
08:08How he treats you.
08:09How he leads this group.
08:12And, you know, he's the real deal.
08:17And as beloved a player as, you know, I've ever been around by his teammates.
08:23You know, they all admire him, look up to him, respect him, want his approval.
08:30And that's just a credit to who Aaron is and how he goes about things.
08:35The old second row.
08:36Two things.
08:37Can you talk about Jazz's home run to go ahead, bro?
08:40Yeah, it was big.
08:43What inning was that now?
08:44Was that the eighth round?
08:47Or that was the seventh round.
08:48I'm sorry.
08:50Yeah, it was big.
08:52You know, again, on Varland, too, you know, that's putting a really good swing on a heater there.
09:00That's what Jazz is capable of.
09:02You know, he changes the game in a lot of different ways.
09:04I thought he did a good job in the eighth there of not trying to do too much, too, with a play.
09:13You know, taking the out.
09:14You know, where outs were precious there.
09:16So, yeah, obviously a big swing for Jazz.
09:20How impressive was Judge's running catches in the fifth and sixth inning?
09:25Yeah, I mean, great.
09:27I mean, the diving catch was great.
09:29A perfect jump on it.
09:30You know, right when, you know, we got back in.
09:33Now, here they go.
09:33It looks like they're going to lead off with base runners.
09:36And he shut it down right away.
09:38So, just a pretty incredible night for the cap.
