00:00Jazz came out today, he had that play in the seventh, making sure a run didn't score there,
00:03and then the seventh pitch walk there, in the final game.
00:06Yeah, I mean, first of all, the double play they turned on Bregman to his left with Volpe was special.
00:13And then, obviously, to save a run with the infield hit by Yoshida was excellent,
00:19and then a really good patient at bat, long at bat, where he's able to, you know,
00:24he didn't get the jump to be able to steal a base there,
00:28but, you know, obviously moving on the pitch, gave him a little bit of a head start there,
00:35and, you know, his feet comes into play big time there.
00:38So, obviously, an exciting big play.
00:41Can you stay right here with Andy?
00:44What do you think got Williams back to being Devin Williams over the past weeks and months?
00:49I don't know. I mean, he was never that far off, frankly.
00:52I mean, the stuff was never not there.
00:55You know, he had a couple of loud outings that, you know, and where the ball didn't really bounce his way,
01:03like a couple of those outings where, you know, it blew up on him.
01:06It's a squibber.
01:07It's, you know, this before it got away.
01:10So he was never that far off at any point of when he was struggling.
01:14And then I think he just started to stack outings.
01:17You know, first time in the middle of the season before he hit a little rough patch again,
01:21and then now the final month, month plus, you know, he's just stacked a lot of good outings
01:26and I think just pitching with a lot of confidence.
01:29But getting in the zone more and having a presence with both pitches.
01:34So he's not, you know, real predictable because he's using his fastball enough
01:38and, you know, obviously the changeup.
01:40Because the confidence, or excuse me, because the stuff has pretty much always been there,
01:44do you think it's that confidence and conviction and willingness to...
01:47Yeah, I think there's another level of that when he's been going good,
01:50just that, you know, I know I'm good, I can get after it in the zone,
01:55and, you know, he's just been more consistent in his execution.
02:00Your left piece, the mountain visit with Cruz,
02:03just what was said and what convinced you to keep him in to get that last out in the center?
02:10I didn't go out.
02:12Yeah, but what convinced you did to stick with him, though?
02:15Oh, yeah, I just felt like he had it under control.
02:21Like, I was giving him one more hitter there.
02:25Felt like with Story, you know, was okay.
02:30And then I had Devin going in case we did get to Bregman there.
02:33But felt like his stuff was good, knew he wanted it,
02:37and felt like he could finish it off.
02:39Story put a good swing on it.
02:40And, you know, we were fortunate there in the long fly ball,
02:43but I felt good about him being in there.
02:46Far right, Joe.
02:47And Alex Corr says he's going to start running tomorrow for sure.
02:51Has Rice done enough to start for you,
02:54and has Jazz definitely started tomorrow?
02:57Yeah, Jazz will be playing.
02:58I haven't decided on, like, catcher first base, all that.
03:01Sit on that.
03:02Early is pretty neutral.
03:03You know, a little different than the first guy we faced.
03:07So we'll sit and talk about it, and, you know, I'll make that decision tonight.
03:12I just thought, how tough is Rice?
03:14And you've had a policy, right, of using Goldschmidt against lefties.
03:18How tough has Rice made it for you to do what has kind of been an easy decision?
03:22Well, I mean, obviously Benny's, you know, playing at such a, you know,
03:29swinging the bat so well, especially here down the stretch.
03:32So, yeah, he makes it tough.
03:34You know, again, it's not just it's a lefty.
03:38It's what lefty?
03:39You know, is that guy going to be out there for six or seven innings?
03:43It's, you know, I want to, you know, leverage a spot for whoever my bench guys are
03:50to have a good matchup and not three bad matchups that I can guarantee.
03:54So all those things factor in.
03:56You know, Chris?
03:58After everything that transpired last night with Jazz,
04:01did you talk to him last night or today just to make sure his mind was good
04:05coming into tonight's game?
04:06Yeah, Jazz and I are good.
04:08I had no concerns with that he was going to go out there and get it done.
04:13And the Yoshida single, did you think that Jazz had any shot off the bat there?
04:19Yeah, I did just because obviously, you know, his range is pretty special.
04:26I got to look back at it, but I don't know how clean he got it, like catch, boom, pop it.
04:34But once he got to it initially, I thought he was going to have a shot.
04:38Yoshida, you know, got after it pretty good and obviously went head first in there to beat it.
04:42But initially, I thought he was going to have a shot if he got to it.
04:49Okay, Dave, on the right.
04:50Aaron, just on the same point with Jazz, I know we asked you before the game about the stuff that went on
04:54and you said regardless, you expected him to play his butt off tonight for you.
04:58And that's kind of what you've seen of him.
05:00Is it just that competitive part to him that no matter what else is going on when he's on the field,
05:04that he's going to do so many things to help you guys win?
05:07Yeah, I mean, he loves to play, and, you know, he feels a responsibility to us as teammates.
05:15And, you know, and he and I have always been good, like despite, you know,
05:21what you may think happened yesterday.
05:23Like, yeah, he's a gamer, and, you know, he likes this stage.
05:29Mike, you're on the right.
05:33Cruz is always pretty animated, but tonight pretty next level coming off.
05:37Yeah, almost got out of his way.
05:40How does that jolt the team?
05:43Yeah, I mean, for those of you that got to be around Fernando enough this year
05:48and got to know him a little bit, I mean, he's just an incredible human being.
05:52And that is from day one that, you know, I spoke to him on the phone this winter.
05:58I can't tell you how excited he is to put this uniform on every single day
06:02and what a privilege it is for him.
06:04And he exudes that all the time.
06:07And there's a passion that he does his job with.
06:10And it spilled over a little bit tonight.
06:13I'm glad it was the end of his evening at that point.
06:15Two more quick ones.
06:17One over here on the right with Ian.
06:18Obviously, Aaron, any player taken out of the lineup is going to be motivated by that to some degree.
06:24Did you sense that Jack played with a sense of defiance or even maybe a little anger?
06:31And is that a good thing?
06:33It could be, but no, I didn't sense that.
06:35I didn't sense there was an extra chip.
06:38Like, I don't think it was anything like that.
06:42If there was, yeah, I think it can be a good thing for a certain person.
06:46But I didn't sense that with Jazz today.
06:50Far left in the back, Gabe.
06:53Aaron, these first two games have been pretty good.
06:56Is it apropos, I guess, that this little series will get a game three to decide at all?
07:00Yeah, I suppose.
07:03You know, look, it's been two great games.
07:07I think both sides have played really well.
07:09Been a lot of impactful plays, you know, whether it's on the bases, in the field.
07:16So look forward to tomorrow and, you know, try and move on.
07:21Thanks, Aaron.
