00:00What was your moment in early on in the game where you thought Sheldon could deliver that type of performance?
00:08Probably last night.
00:10I mean, honestly, every time he's taking the ball,
00:13I feel so good about him that he's capable of doing anything
00:17because he's such a good strike thrower and with that stuff.
00:21But I felt great about where he was mentally last night when he was leaving.
00:25And, you know, as I said, results aside, you never know what the result's going to be.
00:32Like, I knew it wasn't going to be too big for him.
00:36But just, I mean, what a performance.
00:39Your starting pitch is this series three runs in 20-3rd.
00:42How big of a lift is that when you're starting pitch?
00:45Yeah, I mean, they were all excellent in their own way, capped off by Cam tonight.
00:51But, excuse me, we ended up getting over, what did you say, over 20 innings?
00:5720-3rd.
00:5820-3rd.
01:00Yeah, I think you signed up for that, right?
01:02And, you know, they were great.
01:05You know, allows the bullpen to set up properly.
01:08And, you know, Ben coming in on the third day in a row, finishing it off was awesome.
01:16All right, go ahead.
01:16Aaron, just, it's one thing to be impressive as a rookie to another to do what he just did was historic.
01:22I mean, what did he do tonight that allowed him to completely dominate the way he did?
01:26I think just didn't make it more than it was, but also realized the importance of it.
01:33And, you know, when you throw 100 and command the baseball and can land your secondary pitches,
01:40you can be a problem for the opposition.
01:43So, that's what he's capable of and, you know, obviously efficient enough to get through eight innings there.
01:52Yeah, I mean, just, I'm not surprised, honestly.
02:00Was there a conversation after the seventh inning there about, you know, do we take him out here?
02:05Um, I just wanted to, I didn't even want to talk to him much.
02:10I just wanted to say, you good?
02:13Like, back out.
02:14I didn't, usually I'll come down the steps if I'm going to have a conversation or take him out.
02:18I kind of stood on the steps and just kind of gave him my way and I just, you good?
02:23And I, you know, he was.
02:25And so I was just going to go hitter to hitter with him because I trusted his ability to go fill up the zone.
02:31So, you know, I've said Devin ready behind him there in the eighth if anything got away,
02:37but he ends up having a really, really quick inning and, you know.
02:43So, no, not much conversation about whether I was going to bring him back out or not.
02:48And what's going through your mind there on that McMahon catch?
02:53Um, so it went up and then I felt like I saw, you know, kind of my periphery.
03:00I, like, I feel like he's got a beat on it.
03:03Uh, but I know where he's headed and he's on the dead run.
03:06So it just flashed back to Gio Urshela, um, you know, a couple years ago when he went flying into the dugout against,
03:13I think it was Tampa late in the season.
03:15So, so I was, I came sprinting out of the dugout just because I know that can be dangerous over there
03:20and, um, just a great play by, by a great defender.
03:25Okay, far right, Andy.
03:27Did he even, should there even seem to be tiring to you and Ian?
03:30I mean, I know it was time to take him out and get your clothes or something.
03:33Yeah.
03:33That's what we've been in for the ninth, but, like, just strength-wise, did he seem like he even...
03:37Yeah, he seemed good.
03:38He seemed good to me.
03:40Um, it's a little bit of uncharted territory for him.
03:42Um, I don't think he's ever gone that deep, so, um, no, he seemed, he seemed in control to me.
03:50Yeah.
03:51Okay, maybe you'd get a rod, first row.
03:55You always have confidence in your starting pitchers, yet sometimes they take a few pitches or anything to settle in.
04:02Did you know strike one, strike two to Durant that he was on?
04:05Was there a certain pitch?
04:06Just, you said to yourself, he's got it tonight?
04:11Honestly, that's how I feel most nights with him, since he's come up.
04:14Like, I feel like he's capable of going out and dominating, because he is such a good strike thrower with his stuff.
04:20I thought Durant threw a really good at bat on him to start off the game.
04:23You know, he got some good swings off.
04:25What, six, seven pitch at bat?
04:26It was really competitive at bat.
04:28But, um, so I don't know if it's told me he's on tonight or not, because I've frankly felt that most, most nights he's taken the ball for us.
04:39And you mentioned a conversation with him yesterday.
04:42What, what did he say during that conversation that made you feel like that?
04:46Uh, I'm not going to reveal anything, but he was ready for today.
04:51Okay, we're going to take one more here on the left.
04:53Aaron, you knew coming in against the Red Sox, it was going to be a different kind of series,
04:57just because it is them, and they've out, and they've played you tough historically.
05:01You've gotten the better of you guys a number of times.
05:02Is it more special because it was them?
05:05And you guys lost the first game, too, which is definitely hard to do, come back from in these series.
05:09Um, yes, yeah, um, look, part of this whole thing is, I've talked to you guys a lot the last several weeks
05:19about how good of a club I think we have now, at this time of year.
05:22So, you go into that best of three, and it's, it's pressure-filled, you know?
05:28It's like, and it's against a team that you know so well, and it's your rival, and they win game one.
05:35Um, you know, these guys just kept playing.
05:38Honestly, going into tonight, for me personally, like, it felt like as pressure-packed game as I've ever been in.
05:44As a player, manager, that's World Series games, that's clenching to go to the World Series game, you know?
05:50Just because it's like, man, the context in my brain of, like, what I think our team is.
05:57A great opponent, storied opponent, here, down one, boys answered the bell,
06:05and played great baseball these last couple days.
06:07A great opponent, and I'll see you next time.
