Transcript
00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
00:18The Lord be with you.
00:20Dear friends, welcome now to our time together in the presence and the company of our Lord.
00:25As we enter the 18th of December, these days of more intense preparation for the coming of the Lord, our celebration of the Lord's birth.
00:35Today, in a special way, here in Darwin, we are praying for the repose of the soul of Sister Alicia.
00:41As in a couple of hours, we will be celebrating her mass of Christian funeral from our cathedral.
00:47May she rest in peace.
00:47It's also a time now, dear friends, for you and I to place our intentions in the hands of God.
00:54To ask Him to bless us and our families and our intentions.
00:58Especially those we carry most deeply in our hearts during this time.
01:04Dear brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
01:11Lord Jesus, you are the image of the unseen God.
01:14Lord, have mercy.
01:15You are the firstborn of all creation.
01:18Christ, have mercy.
01:21You are the head of the body, the church.
01:24Lord, have mercy.
01:26May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
01:32Amen.
01:33Let us pray.
01:34Grant, we pray, Almighty God, that we, who are weighed down from of old by slavery beneath the yoke of sin,
01:44may be set free by the newness of the long-awaited nativity of your only begotten Son,
01:50who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
01:57Amen.
01:57A reading from the prophet Jeremiah.
02:03See, the days are coming, it is the Lord who speaks,
02:08when I will raise a virtuous branch for David,
02:11who will reign as true king and be wise,
02:16practicing honesty and integrity in the land.
02:19In his days, Judah will be saved, and Israel dwell in confidence.
02:25And this is the name he will be called,
02:28the Lord our integrity.
02:31So then the days are coming, it is the Lord who speaks,
02:34when people will no longer say,
02:36as the Lord lives who brought the sons of Israel out of the Egypt,
02:41out of the land of Egypt, pardon me,
02:42but as the Lord lives, who led back and brought home
02:48the descendants of the house of Israel out of the land of the north
02:52and from all the countries to which he had dispersed them
02:56to live on their own soil.
03:00The word of the Lord.
03:02Thanks be to God.
03:03Justice shall flourish in his time and fullness of peace forever.
03:10Justice shall flourish in his time and fullness of peace forever.
03:15O God, give your judgment to the king, to a king's son, your justice,
03:20that he may judge your people in justice and your poor in right judgment.
03:25Justice shall flourish in his time and fullness of peace forever.
03:29For he shall save the poor when they cry and the needy who are helpless.
03:34He will have pity on the weak and save the lives of the poor.
03:39Justice shall flourish in his time and fullness of peace forever.
03:44Blessed be the Lord, God of Israel, who alone works wonders.
03:48Ever blessed his glorious name.
03:50Let his glory fill the earth.
03:53Amen. Amen.
03:54Justice shall flourish in his time and fullness of peace forever.
04:00Alleluia.
04:01Alleluia.
04:02Come, leader of ancient Israel,
04:05giver of the law to Moses on Sinai,
04:08rescue us with your mighty power.
04:11Alleluia.
04:13The Lord be with you.
04:16A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
04:19This is how Jesus Christ came to be born.
04:26His mother, Mary, was betrothed to Joseph.
04:30But before they came to live together,
04:32she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
04:36Her husband, Joseph, being a man of honor
04:39and wanting to spare her publicity,
04:42decided to divorce her informally.
04:45He had made up his mind to do this
04:47when the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said,
04:51Joseph, son of David,
04:54do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife,
04:58because she has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit.
05:03She will give birth to a son,
05:06and you must name him Jesus,
05:08because he is the one who is to save his people from their sins.
05:13Now, all this took place
05:16to fulfill the words spoken by the Lord through the prophet.
05:21The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son,
05:25and they will call him Emmanuel,
05:28a name which means God is with us.
05:32When Joseph woke up,
05:34he did what the angel of the Lord had told him to do.
05:38He took his wife to his home.

06:40Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the Almighty
06:56Father. May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and the glory of his name,
07:02for our good and the good of all his holy church. May the sacrifice to be offered to you, O Lord,
07:08make us acceptable to your name, that we may merit for all eternity to be the companions of Christ,
07:15by whose death our own mortality was healed, who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.
07:23The Lord be with you, and with your spirit lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us
07:29give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just. It is truly right and just, our duty and
07:36our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, almighty and eternal
07:42God, through Christ our Lord. For all the oracles of the prophets foretold him. The virgin mother
07:49longed for him with love beyond all telling. John the Baptist sang of his coming and proclaimed his
07:56presence when he came. It is by his gift that already we rejoice at the mystery of his nativity,
08:03so that he may find us watchful in prayer and exultant in his praise. And so with angels and like
08:11angels, with thrones and dominions, and with all the hosts and powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of
08:17your glory, as without end we acclaim. Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of
08:27your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the
08:34highest. You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts we
08:43pray, by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the body
08:49and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion,
08:57he took bread, and giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this,
09:05all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you.
09:19In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, and once more giving thanks, he gave it to
09:42his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood.
09:49The blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many,
09:55for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.
10:19The mystery of faith. When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord,
10:33until you come again. Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer
10:39you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy
10:45to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of
10:51Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout
10:59the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with Leo our Pope and Charles our Bishop
11:05and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the
11:11resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy. Welcome them into the light of your face.
11:17Have mercy on us all, we pray that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with Blessed Joseph,
11:23her spouse, with the Blessed Apostles and all the saints, we have pleased you throughout the ages.
11:29We may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son,
11:35Jesus Christ. Through him and with him and in him, O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy
11:43Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. Amen.
11:49Amen. At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say,
11:57Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is
12:05in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who
12:13trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray,
12:21from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy, we may be always free
12:28from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
12:35Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, Peace I leave you, my peace I give you, look not on our sins,
12:46but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will,
12:52who live and reign forever and ever. Amen. The peace of the Lord be with you always.
12:59Let us offer each other the sign of peace. Peace be with you.
13:05Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of
13:25the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
13:35Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world, blessed are those cold to the
13:59sufferer of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word,
14:06and my soul shall be healed.
14:08My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament. I love you above all things,
14:16and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
14:22commonly, spiritually, into my heart, I embrace you as if you were already there, and unite myself wholly to you.
14:30Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
14:34Let us pray.
14:37May we receive your mercy in the midst of your temple, O Lord, and show fitting honor to the coming solemnities of our redemption.
14:46Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
14:50Friends, thank you for your prayer for company today as we celebrated this mess online.
14:55God bless you and your families and the rest of your day.
14:57May the Lord be with you.
15:00May Almighty God bless you, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
