03:36We were full-time born raised in California
03:40We came in 2021 for the usa cycling mountain bike nationals
03:45My son was racing and we had time to look at a couple properties. I just called up a realtor
03:50We came here. We fell in love with it. And then a couple weeks later. We put an offer in
03:55I didn't really expect that
03:57Our life would be moving out here so rapidly
04:00Kenny and I do the exact same thing when we go to a place like oh, this is really nice
04:03Let's see how much real estate is here. Yeah

04:09Got into it and bought it. Jeff's just didn't want to come back to California

04:19I love the vibes. I love the house. I love the way it looks. I think it's like a postcard
04:24But when it comes to actually living
04:27It's it's full-time camping with the bugs inside
04:29The wasps the mice the ticks the the cold all of it
04:35We really need help to turn this in some place that I can really do my work
04:40Our adult kids will want to come and be with us where they'll feel like it's really a retreat for them as well
04:46But as it is right now, it's not that this is a big job. We're saving a saving a relationship day
04:51You know, we've already had conversations with Emily and Jeff and we had measurements and we've gone back and forth on how
05:03We want to reorient this home because Emily has been traveling back and forth from here to California
05:08But it's a whole nother thing to walk through the space and feel it and see it and really get eyes on it
05:14So speaking of the property, let's talk about the cabin. I know you love the the natural cedar wood. I love it. What about the roof?
05:21I would like to see another metal roof. It just seems fitting with the style of the cabin. Yeah, also the handrails
05:29We're not fans of these handrails
05:31Okay, essentially our goal outside is to keep this kind of rustic
05:36Cabin in the woods feel so we'll clean up the siding get a new roof new handrail
05:40Move the entrance to better work with the flow of the home inside and clean up some of the landscaping
05:46But really just keep this this aesthetic really cool cabin
05:50I love it. Okay, so we have a budget of 350 right for the project. So keep that in mind

07:31So this is basically gonna be here. You're gonna have like a dining room and then kitchen
07:37What we really would like to is for this ceiling to be removed

07:44The light from the dormer to come in okay leaving the beams just taking the flooring off the flooring out. Oh, I love that

08:01So the existing bedroom bath and closet will all be transformed into your new kitchen and dining area
08:07In the dining room we'll take out the ceiling but we'll leave the beams exposed so sunlight from the upstairs dormer can spill in
08:14And the kitchen will feel just as open with warm wood cabinets beautiful stone countertops a light backsplash and all new appliances

08:34So you have dining and living but now we're taking dining and putting it over on that side of the house
08:40We sort of envision this as maintaining like the man cave aspect of the cabin

08:54We're leaning into that rugged cabin feel and giving the whole space a fresh new look
08:59We'll close off this wall since the new bedroom will be on the other side
09:03And then turn this room into a game space with new windows updated furniture and plenty of room to hang out and play

17:34it goes together everything is nice this is one of the best playing tables in the whole store i've
17:38actually played on this oh well there you go sold yeah they just built them so well back in the
17:43old days so i like this because it looks like a lot of these panels are you could kind of remove
17:50these panels and you know install a little bit more custom panel correct do you have felt options
17:55too can we get oh of course you can get any color you want on it okay we have all different colors i

19:49so what we're struggling with here is the homeowners the wolves they want a vault they
19:54wanted that grand living room i think the window and the angled ceiling is what's making it tough
19:59for jenny to visualize it's not really vaulted it's just what do you mean it's like a second floor
20:06being exposed i think she's just seeing the smaller opening right now and not like when it's wide open
20:13and we have a new vault built in there so at some point i just need jenny to say babe you know what
20:20i'm not seeing it right now but i trust you and it's gonna look great but i mean i do trust you back

20:36well i think we have to lower that ceiling it just feels super weird right now but if you actually
20:40vaulted could work but then you have to get rid of that window for sure that will help make it feel
20:47like it's not a second floor to downstairs it'll make it feel like it's all connected i agree
20:57we have decided that we're going to go up and we're going to close up the window and make a new
21:01vault in the ceiling and now we're opening up the whole kitchen area yeah it's gonna be awesome just
21:07what the wolves want and i really think it's going to be just what skinny wants once it's done

21:51to fit in with the wolf cabin hey jenny mars what i don't think they use plywood i think this is white oak
21:57i think i could pull it apart and run it through the planer one pass and maybe reuse some of this
22:06wood that'd be cool so dave's basically going to stand down the sides they're already made from white
22:15oak so he's going to just take off the finish now so that we have just the natural white oak showing
22:20and for the legs i forged these beams to look like a railroad track
22:23i think he would love that ties in with the whole train station we'll have metal legs and then he'll
22:29just refurbish the other components we'll get it to the house and then we'll have the professionals
22:34come out and refelt the pool table okay so you're good it's a plan i'm on it all right
22:43we've been busy at the wolf cabin over the past couple of weeks
22:47we've closed up the wall between the living room and the new main suite
22:51installed drywall in the old trailer space for the bedroom bathroom and work area
22:56and with the ceiling removed above the dining room we've relocated the stairs leading to the
23:01second floor i can't wait to see all the progress especially the bolted ceiling which i'm hoping
23:06turned out okay all the stairs what's up what's up the stairs look great here i feel good about this
23:13we have questions on this though what well what we're doing underneath here yes i think we should
23:20do a little nook under here we can have bookshelves around and then a little seat in here okay so now
23:26that this is in place this is really helping me visualize this do we not do a sofa do we do a couple
23:34like club chairs club chairs because this is more of his man cave right i don't know i would be happy with
23:39a man cave that's this large i like this room i feel good let's go good i want to go through the

24:36importantly oh the sun room yes this is the room she's going to be doing her phone calls with her
24:42students so i think we should do some sort of background because you don't want the background to
24:46be windows she's got to turn this way so the light shining on her so that means this is the background
24:51so should we do a built-in on this wall where that's the background for her let's do something
24:56old like the exterior of the house i'll need some driftwood or something like a tree coming growing
25:01out of the yeah that could be kind of cool all right i'll let you run with that dave okay i'm
25:06gonna go get i'm gonna go pick out pink colors okay trying to find a pink color for this room i want
25:12it to feel really cozy i don't want it to i know she wanted it lighter but i don't think that white is
25:18the right color for this room because it's so the ceilings are so tall it will just feel
25:24cavernous so i think a warm color would be really nice and it needs to go with the brick and with
25:28the wood beams this is actually a taupe color that i think could be really pretty and then down
25:33in the bedroom i'm thinking of using a soothing shade of color oh this one's pretty i love blue gray
25:40this is the color i've used it's a really good bedroom color because it's very soft and soothing
25:44emily didn't love this house she wasn't wanting to live here jeff wants her to move here and so we
25:49need her to love this house so we're trying to win emily over austin yeah all right so austin and i
26:02talked about this and we thought what a little cool top right over here what if we just embrace the top
26:09and make it a really cool coffee table for the man cave
26:17put that dude down there's some funk in that thing you're gonna go grab that walnut yeah along
26:26with this old barrel we found some old walnut planks at jeff's property which austin has planed down
26:32and we've made it into an x that's going to be the feet underneath this coffee table

26:48hey um austin i was looking for a really cool coffee table i found one bam did you see how
26:57he just played right into that we got we're gonna clear coat this thing we got walnut from jeff's
27:02property it does fit their design perfectly and got ourselves a coffee table i don't even know what to

27:16a lot more progress is being made at the wolf cabin
27:19dave and the crew are moving the stairs to the new front door
27:22oh i didn't realize how much everyone was contributing and design finishes are being
27:29installed in the new main suite oh the tile looks good we have glass tile within this little niche
27:38we have a tub here vanity it's gonna be pretty
27:41it hurts my chest uh too much nope i got it all right we are installing handrail back onto the
27:50porch now that we have moved the steps to the new front entrance uh so we have some metal balusters and
27:56then we have just to save money we're using just um untreated lumber and chris just arrived with the
28:03kitchen cabinets yay chris is here it's jenny's favorite day i know i feel like she would marry a
28:09cabinet guy if she we ever farted ways because she really gets abnormally excited when cabinets go

28:52little okay emily really wanted this place to feel lighter and have a little bit of a feminine touch but
28:58jeff really still wanted it to feel very rustic so i feel like these older cabinets are kind of the
29:02cross between and then of course the layout is all about balance we have a wall of cabinetry sink
29:08nice island and then we have stone backsplash and it really feels like it fits the rest of the house
29:12with all of the logs and all of the natural elements that are already here good job all right we got a
29:17kitchen this kitchen is massive this kitchen's gonna be really beautiful so pretty i think she might
29:23move here for this because you know she's living in california most of the time and comes to visit
29:27because she didn't like this house so we're trying to get her here this kitchen might do it all right
29:31now let's start assembling everything okay doing a high five out there
29:43so you remember how i wanted you to build a wall a bookshelf for emily i picked up a bunch of driftwood
29:49i just need you to pick the wood what about this what is this guy this needs to be a big piece that
29:56you can build off of this is fun it'd be kind of cool and you could just put shelves off of this
30:04i don't know that i want to support shelves with this but i can yeah i'll just build the shelves and
30:08make it looks like this is the support all right i'm going to work all right
30:11all right all right yeah the guys are assembling this bookshelf now um we picked the piece of
30:21driftwood and dave and austin are putting this thing together i want it to feel a little bit
30:26eclectic and fun a little whimsical it really is it's the backdrop for emily when she's teaching kids
30:33online but i want to keep it natural so it feels like natural you know like a like a tree that's cute
30:39what do you think lukey you think it's cool a little tree bookshelf huh all right we're
30:44going to add shelves every little bit we're going to cap it we'll have some overhangs and we'll just
30:48keep going yeah we got to get more maple then this guy yeah then that guy yeah it's cute i love it

31:32going to be really beautiful and we're actually reusing this super unique and fun yellow brick but
31:40this brick was in their bathroom originally so it was original to the house it is from the train station
31:46it's a salvaged material so we very carefully and painstakingly removed it from the old bathroom
31:52cleaned them up and we're laying them in the sunroom and it i just i think it's going to be a really fun
31:58and unexpected and happy little future oh yes look who i found oh hey how are you so i'm great good
32:07so we thought we would reuse this brick in here because i know you guys loved the brick
32:11yes and it was original to the house so what do you think you think she's going to like it i think
32:15she's going to love it i think this is the room where she says you know what i'm coming to arkansas
32:20yep yes she's going to be moving in okay all right that's the goal it's really important for jeff that
32:28emily loves this cabin so that she'll make the move here from california i'm really hoping this is the
32:33space that sells it for her i'm going to make this light bright and airy for emily jenny the billiard
32:38guys are here meanwhile in jeff's man cave the guys are bringing in the pool table that dave
32:44refurbished and then they refelted for us oh my gosh you guys this is you guys are strong so it is
32:51ready to be placed in the new man cave we got it set perfect guys right where it goes
32:58we're approaching the home stretch and are ready to put this house together for jeff and emily
33:09so we are at wolf just finishing up all the final furniture and pieces that i built we got the

33:52we're in a really good spot we will get all of this extra stuff out of here make sure
33:56everything's clean just all the little little things that still need to happen that take a lot
34:01of time oh yeah but all those little details are really important looks good do we need anything
34:08else hung or are we good we're good okay we are finishing up jeff and emily's home yes and i know
34:20we've all been waiting for the answer to the big question is emily gonna move is from california to
34:27arkansas in the woods all i have to say is 1978 shag carpet trailer that is no longer in this house
34:36it is beautiful gone it feels great in here it's comfortable this beautiful cabin out in the woods
34:42i love the cabinet she's gonna love it she's gonna love it here we go there's so much potential i'm
34:47super excited to see all their creativity and we do hope that they keep you know a fair amount of that
34:53rustic charm wow a little bit hopefully he's flying in here he's ready excited excited wow wow

35:40there's no trailer sticking out of your house yeah and we did i will say with the house we did
35:46we tried to salvage yes anything that wasn't rotten yes really pulling as much of the original to the
35:52front of the house sure yeah yeah because we still want to say like it was part of the neosha train
35:57station and like we want we still want to be able to tell its history exactly because that's something
36:01we are proud of yeah okay there's much more to see do you want to go in yeah okay yeah let's do it guys

36:33beams but raised the rest of the ceiling i know emily you wanted it to be a little softer in here
36:38and a little more feminine so we painted everything so that it feels very cozy still feels like a cabin
36:44but it also feels like a home i hope yes yeah yes oh i love it i love the fireplace yes modern vibe
36:52i love the windows too the floor to ceiling windows aren't the windows beautiful yeah but forget about
36:58this we gotta go check out the kitchen you gotta go check out the kitchen so remember this was your
37:02bedroom and then this was your bathroom oh wow this is just i love the stone so that stone is actually
37:14it's real stone it's just authentic you have a pantry hidden pantry and then tons of storage
37:21we added an extra window here so that the view is the biggest part of this but sure right you also
37:27have tons of storage this is your space emily we wanted it to be we know you didn't like camping
37:33before no it's stunning it's absolutely beautiful i i love it i love it okay good all right let's
37:40perfect down the hall yeah wow oh wow oh check that out this is a proper bedroom this is
37:58and i know you really wanted a fireplace yes we kept the ceiling exposed because of the warmth like i do
38:03like the feeling exposed that stuff yeah painted this a nice soft color so that again this just feels
38:09peaceful you have a space for a little sitting area and yeah i do like the way the sunlight hits
38:14that chair that's nice so sweet okay should you go see the bathroom

38:24wow now we're talking yeah look at the shower man look at how big and it's fantastic that is yeah that
38:33is something else wow this is beautiful i wanted to make sure you have plenty of space for storage and
38:40getting ready and the beautiful mirror to get ready with and you can have your soaking top right in
38:44front of the window and check out the tile too isn't the tile cool yeah that is awesome and we have
38:50another surprise behind this door pocket door whoa okay awesome wow okay this is definitely an emily room
39:00yeah yeah this is emily's room yes that's what we called it yeah you'll find me here good that's perfect
39:07way away from all that and also check out that bookcase
39:10nice we just wanted something i mean you do a lot of teaching to kids so we figured you know
39:17this would be a great place a lot of good light yes and it leads out onto the deck outside so you
39:24really just kind of sneak away back here and hide out from the world and i don't know if you recognize
39:31the floor floor yes it's very right i love this and i love the green border that is fantastic oh yeah
39:38this room's the best okay okay emily this was kind of a space for you we do have a space for you as
39:43well all right we've got to go there next we're gonna go back out to the oh okay yeah let's go yes

39:55okay okay wow all right yeah this is definitely
40:00look at this nook under the stairs so there is a little nook for you okay yeah this actually is
40:10something dave made as well i stole some of your walnut to make the legs underneath and then we cut we
40:16used the plasma cutter cut the top of that barrel that was sitting out there and we were able to
40:20repurpose a little bit of it so it's just something from the property that is awesome because i did ask for a
40:25metal table and then also over here dave refurbished a pool table for you yeah so we found this vintage
40:33pool table that needed some work actually this was the original white oak that we were able to
40:37stand down oh my goodness stand down we welded up a frame underneath it to just kind of that whole
40:42railroad theme but it feels really it's so perfect in this space you need to i mean this is a man cave
40:48and i know emily this is a big renovation for you because this was getting you to actually stay
40:53here wait so did it work we'll see i mean definitely definitely huge improvement emily's
41:01her work her job her her life her kids are in california so yeah hey we got a we'll see we didn't get
41:07to know and so you're telling me there's a chance okay well with that we'll leave you and let you guys
41:13get your kids over here okay thank you so much thank you so much the facelift is very dramatic
41:20it has modern feel to it now which it didn't have at all but it's still definitely an arkansas cabin
41:29welcome hey guys welcome to our new home totally different way it looks like how did this happen
41:36somebody had a magic wand it's a home where you could invite people and feel proud of your home
41:41that's the floor from upstairs but it was never ever exposed because it was hidden by the trailer they
41:48definitely hit the mark with the amount of cheerfulness and bright and sunlight oh this is great now it's
41:56a home it's a real home
