After wintry weather swept through Virginia and North Carolina on Dec. 8, dry weather is expected to win out for most of the rest of the week.
Transcript
00:00We've seen some action. I mentioned North Carolina earlier, Jeff.
00:03In the southeast, that's where a lot of the action has been.
00:05Impressive that we're seeing snow this far south.
00:07Our second storm in about five days there, southern parts of Virginia, as you mentioned.
00:11And some of this is also producing snow in far northern North Carolina.
00:15Now, this is going to scoot east rapidly and will say goodbye to the system.
00:19But, again, that's after even 10, 11 p.m. tonight,
00:22when we still have some lingering snow showers up near Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
00:26Now, the rest of our two or three days ahead of us will be precipitation-free for most of us in the south.
00:32That system pulls offshore, maybe a few lingering showers there for the Outer Banks into Tuesday.
00:38But that's it. Most of us dry Florida and across the southeast.
00:42You can see a lot of sunshine for the Gulf Coast states for the day on Tuesday.
00:46This is Tuesday at 4.30 p.m. Let's go forward into Wednesday, see how this evolves.
00:50There's more action to the north.
00:52This one will bring us a little bit of rain into areas like Kentucky.
00:56Maybe a few sprinkles due to the Kentucky-Tennessee line.
00:59But it largely bypasses the southeast, staying to the north.
01:03And maybe a few showers return to the Outer Banks again on Wednesday.
01:07So, overall, tonight, we've got some cold air in place.
01:09We do still have some of that snow falling in Virginia Beach, Roanoke, Blacksburg.
01:14You've had a couple of rounds of accumulating snow in the past four or five days.
01:18You'll see some lingering snow showers and flurries there.
01:20It will be a cold night in Charlotte down to 25 below freezing in Nashville, below freezing in Jonesboro, Arkansas, down below freezing into Oklahoma City, down to 32 on the nose into Little Rock, Arkansas.
01:31Farther south, still cold.
01:33Low 30s there outside of town.
01:34There will be some frost in Montgomery and Jackson.
01:37Atlanta will have some frost outside of town.
01:39You can see the 20s dipping down into areas like Carrollton off to the west and up into Huntsville, Alabama.
01:43Tuesday, otherwise, though, a nice pleasant day.
01:46Cold holds in eastern North Carolina.
01:48A lot of dry, bright weather for the rest of us.
01:51Wednesday, another nice day for a lot of us here.
01:53Dry weather wins out.
01:54The yellow on the map.
01:56Again, I mentioned that chance for a few showers up near Kentucky, rolling east into western parts of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
02:02Maybe a little bit of action up near Boone, North Carolina.
02:06But otherwise, warm in Texas and pleasantly dry for many near the Gulf Coast.
02:12Into Thursday, we still stay a little bit nippy out there into the Carolinas.
02:16Dry weather for the south.
02:17High pressure is going to pave the way for more quiet weather.
02:19So the storm track very much diverted north of the southeast, except for in Kentucky.
02:24We'll keep an eye out for that area.
