Der Mercedes GLB EQ startet vollelektrisch als 250+ mit 272 PS und Heckantrieb sowie als 350 4Matic mit 354 PS und Allrad. Beide kommen mit einer 85-kWh-Batterie und bis zu 630 km Reichweite. Geladen wird mit bis zu 320 kW. Der GLB Hybrid – ebenfalls neu im Lineup – kombiniert dagegen einen Verbrenner mit E-Unterstützung und bringt eine eigene Frontgestaltung samt Chrom-Sternchen-Grill und LED-Lichtlinie mit.

Im Design unterscheiden sich die Varianten vor allem an der Frontpartie, aber auch beim Lichtdesign. Innen gibt’s modernste MBUX-Technik mit bis zu drei Bildschirmen, Google-basierter Navigation und smartem Sprachassistenten. Auch bei den Platzverhältnissen punktet der GLB weiterhin: optional sieben Sitze, viel Stauraum (bis zu 1.700 l) und praktische Details wie verschiebbare Fondsitze oder ein großer Frunk.

00:50Today, I'm in the breathtaking Austria with Mercedes-Benz and the all-new electric GLB.

00:56Okay, Tom, how would you sum up the vibe of the new GLB?

00:59It's kind of like that, mate, that's up for anything.

01:01Road trips, school runs, random mountain detours.

01:05It sort of just fits into your life.

01:06So, give me a quick rundown. Which one is this one?

01:09This is the all-new electric GLB, but there is a hybrid GLB version coming too.

01:16It's available in five-seater or seven-seater configurations, handy for when more people turn up for your road trip than you'd planned.

01:24So, then you can get both cars with 4Matic, which comes with terrain mode, perfect for gravel or field tracks.

01:30So, five seats or seven seats, 4Matic or not, electric or hybrid, let me know in the comments what your dream GLB would be.

01:40Let's jump to the exterior design then, because the grille on this car looks amazing.

01:45Keep the design in mind as we head over to the electric GLB, because this panel here is a real show-off.

01:53You have 94 LED stars. Each are animated.

01:58Coming round the side of the car then, you'll see how much it's grown.

02:01It's a bit longer, a bit more wheelbase, but the car has confidence.

02:06It's got shorter overhangs, upright nose, strong shoulder line, but classic Mercedes-Benz stance.

02:13Okay, looks ready for anything.

02:15Absolutely. With the surrounding wheel arch cladding and visual underride protection front and rear, this thing is game on for adventure.

02:22But it's luggage space where it excels. So, come round here, come and look at this.

02:28Boot time. You get 540 litres capacity in the five-seater, and you get 480 litres capacity in the seven-seater.

02:36Guys, do we have something to prove how spacious this is?

02:42I think we're going to need a bit more kit.

02:48See? Room for everything and everyone, even my little orange furry friend here, who's ready for some proper sledging.

02:59Before we go on then, let me know what three things you can't go without when travelling.

03:06It can tow all right. Up to two tonnes on the 4Matic version.

03:11Caravans and trailers, no problem.

03:13And since the car is electric, you actually get bonus space up front.

03:21That is absolutely huge.

03:32Whilst we're spilling tea on the GLB, then, let's take a look inside,

03:36because there is a lot more gossip in the interior.

03:42And inside, you've got lots more room in here.

03:45You've got loads of headroom, loads of legroom, and even little details.

03:48Like, there's a lot more contact space with your thigh against the seat.

03:52And those that love details would like to hear the fact that this door cutout here is bigger,

03:56meaning entry and exit is even easier.

03:59It's those little details that make every single journey more comfortable

04:02and feel a lot more spacious in here.

04:04There's even space for your furry buddies.

04:06So, what's your highlight in here?

04:08Definitely the SkyControl panoramic roof.

04:10You've got 158 illuminated stars above your head.

04:14It's like your own planetarium on wheels.

04:15Not only that, but you can actually adjust and shade different areas of the roof.

04:19Also, play with the ambient lighting as well.

04:22It makes every trip feel special.

04:24We like that, don't we?

04:26What's your favourite part?

04:28I think the screens.

04:30The MBUX super screen.

04:31It's like a mini cinema, but with heated seats.

04:35In the all-new electric GLB, you can choose from up to 11 ambient styles

04:40just with the swipe of a finger.

04:42So, you can go from fresh to cosy, depending on how you feel.

04:45In the navigation, it's actually based on Google Maps.

05:02So, as you can see, that's a 6 hour and 41 minute drive.

05:06Charging this thing is really, really fast.

05:07You get up to 260 kilometres in just 10 minutes worth of charging.

05:12And don't forget, there is up to 631 kilometre WLTP range in this all-new electric GLB.

05:19Basically, there's no hanging around anymore.
