08:40Now we have the visionaries behind design, the engineers behind MBOS, and product management where, you know, everything was really
08:48brought together.
08:49These important players, these visionaries, they shared their personal stories and all of their passion with me.
08:55And now I get to share it with you.

09:06All right, we now get to take a huge step back and hear three very different, very personal stories from
09:12the people who put all their blood, sweat, and tears in creating the all-new GLA.
09:17Today, my experts, the masterminds behind shaping this new vehicle.
09:22I'm going to start out over here.
09:24Design.
09:24In terms of design, of the design department, we have Hauke.
09:28Nice to see you.
09:29Hi.
09:30Also, any and everything about the Mercedes-Benz operating system you ever wanted to know.
09:35For that, we have Jade.
09:36Welcome.
09:38Last but not least, to connect the dots, of course, we need to look at product management.
09:43And for that, we have product manager, Stefan.
09:45Hi.
09:45And we begin with the obvious, with design.
09:48What do you say?
09:48Let's do that.
09:49All right, let's do it.
09:50So I'll see you guys in a minute.
09:52And when it comes to design, what is your favorite part or what is the biggest difference in comparison to
09:58the previous generation?
09:59Well, as a designer, I have to talk about the proportions of this new GLA.
10:04And we've made the new GLA 20 millimeters lower.
10:07We've taken away from the roof line.
10:09We've stretched the wheelbase by 61 millimeters.
10:12What?
10:14Widened the rear track by 31 millimeters.
10:16So overall, we've made this car lower, longer, and wider, making it just much more sporty and more expressive than
10:24ever before.
10:24The first thing that caught my eye is in the front.
10:27Shall we move forward?
10:28Let's do that.
10:28All right.
10:29Let us check out not just any grille, but the illuminated grille.
10:33Hauke, I'm assuming this isn't just eye candy.
10:36There must be some serious technology that lies behind all of this.
10:39This is our high-tech illuminated masterpiece where we blend our rich heritage with design, technology, and craftsmanship.
10:48So this is the first time that we introduced this iconic grille into the compact segment.
10:53And all of these little illuminated dots can be seamlessly animated, orchestrating a light sequence that pulses in sync with
11:02the aura of your selected soundscape.
11:04So I guess you could say that when you approach the car, the car is, or the grille, is welcoming
11:10you with this animation.
11:12Saying hello.
11:13Saying hello.
11:14Very impressive.
11:15I know that there's yet one more thing that has impressed a lot of people now already, and that's in
11:19the back.
11:20So I think we need to move to the rear.
11:21Shall we?
11:22Let's do that.

11:23Yeah.
11:24So the reason why everyone is talking about the rear is the athletic design.
11:28We have these muscular shoulders, this very fast section here.
11:33We have the lights located on the outside here with this connecting element,
11:38and just to break up the volume a little bit and giving it just much more width.
11:43So just adding to the sportiness overall.
11:45And to the bold appearance once more.
11:48There is one last huge aspect when it comes to design we have not yet spoken of.
11:52We need to get inside.
11:54Shall we?

12:01All right.
12:02So, well, Hauke, you've made some really nifty changes to the interior as well, haven't you?
12:07Yeah, we did.
12:07I mean, we've moved away from the sculptural design of the predecessor
12:11and moved to a more cleaner, more minimalist design concept.
12:14The mission for the design was clear.
12:16Create a cabin that has more light, more space, and just more refinement,
12:21making every journey more comfortable.
12:24And I can imagine more comfortable means more space, right?
12:28There's more room in here.
12:29Yeah, because we made the car longer or the wheelbase longer,
12:32we have more legroom in every seat.
12:34And also more headroom.
12:36And thanks to the panoramic roof, we have a much greater sense of space.
12:41And just by the touch of a button, we can control whether it's transparent or 100% opaque.
12:47Nice.
12:48And as you can see, we have integrated stars in the ceiling, which is one of my personal highlights.
12:53But we haven't stopped there.
12:56We have also tried to focus on just a few high-tech elements.
13:00And one that immediately catches the eye is our MBUX Superscreen.
13:05Also new to this car are the trims.
13:08We have focused on high-quality trims.
13:10We have a wood trim, aluminum, lacquer, and also new for the first time, we have this paper trim
13:15with a completely new and luxurious look and feel.
13:18To sum it up, the interior of the new GLA is contemporary, it's smart,
13:22and it genuinely feels like a step up from what you typically expect in this class.

13:31And as much as, well, appearances do matter, at the end of the day,
13:36we know it's all about how all of this responds to the individual user and driver themselves.
13:41So that means it's now time to have a look at MBOS.
13:46Jade, what a coincidence that you're here.
13:48Perfect.
13:49Let me begin with a quote that we hear quite often.
13:53MBOS powers everything.
13:55Is that something you would agree on?
13:57I mean, I have to say yes to that.
13:59But I also agree.
14:00Yeah, absolutely.
14:01I mean, for me, MBOS is, I would like to think about it as a foundation that orchestrates everything.
14:08From the moment you're walking towards your car to when you're settling in,
14:13starting off navigation, listening to music maybe, or simply interacting with voice.
14:19MBOS is not a feature.
14:21It's rather a horizontal platform where all of our services and functionalities get connected with each other.
14:29It's actually built to always evolve.
14:33As you can see here, we have a much larger content portfolio compared to when we launched the CLA.
14:39What it also does is that it learns about your preferences to better cater to your personal needs.
14:45At the same time, it helps us to develop software faster while maintaining the full control over our customer experience.
14:52This is super important for us.
14:53Also, imagine if you are visiting a new city, for example, and you don't know what to explore, where to
14:59go.
14:59The virtual assistant is also there to help you with that.

15:02Could you show us that, actually?
15:04Hey, Mercedes.

15:07I'm for the very first time in Warsaw.

15:29I have learned that you've taken features, some of which we're familiar with, and you have built on those massively
15:36and brought them next level.
15:38Exactly.
15:39So it's going to be all the more fun.
15:40And, of course, you have even more support, more of a support line.
15:43Absolutely.
15:44It just makes me wonder what happens now, what lies around the bend for MBOS, what comes next?
15:49Our MBOS system is built to always evolve.
15:51It's completely compatible with over-the-air updates.
15:54Looking towards the future, we can always release new features, new capabilities on AI, and also completely new experiences.
16:03With that, I would like to say that the true beauty of MBOS is that it's not built for today.
16:08It's not built for the now, but it's actually built for the tomorrow.
16:12It's built for every single update to come that makes your Mercedes more capable, more intuitive, and more for you.
16:20And it really blends into your life and your needs.

16:23It's like a trusted companion that you interreact with and not really just the technology itself.

16:44There's just one more aspect we need to check out, and that is, of course, product management, where it all
16:50comes together.
16:51And for that, I'm going to step back out for a chat with Stefan.
16:56So, from what I've heard, all the way from confident design to hyper-intelligent technology, there is one thing that
17:04lies in the center of attention, which is the customer.
17:06It's us, right?
17:07The driver.
17:08And, Stefan, would you agree on that?
17:10Was that your focal point when you were developing the new GLA?
17:13Yeah, definitely.
17:14I would say so.
17:15We really try to make sure that the GLA is universal in the way that it adapts to real-life
17:21situations.
17:22And, of course, it's about beautiful, confident design and all the innovative tech that we already learned about.
17:30But, ultimately, it's also about choice, because you get to choose between the all-electric version of the GLA and
17:37the high-tech electrified combustion variants of the car.
17:40So, we really learned that individualization is very important, because the choices that the driver makes really reflect on that
17:51individualization.
17:52That's also the reason why we introduced four lines.
17:55So, we have the style line, which is the accessible entry.
17:59It's purposeful, it's modern, it's clean.
18:03We have the progressive line, which adds a little bit more visual drama, a little more bespoke materials, more sophistication,
18:12if you will.
18:13And then we have the AMG line, where things get a bit bolder, a bit sportier, a bit more performance
18:18-oriented.
18:19And we also have the AMG line plus, which, for the first time ever, is available for a GLA, which
18:25is really great.
18:26It features the night package, has a unique wheel design, it has certain interior and exterior elements.
18:34So, really, I would say this is the peak expression of individualization.
18:38And, on top of that, we also offer the night edition, which features a beautiful Cosmos Black Magno paint.
18:45When we're also talking about paints, I need to mention the two new colors that we have.
18:51So, one is called Aquamint, and the other one is called Sheer Blue.
18:55So, they really just add a clean, distinct look to the car.
18:59Wow, so, a whole lot of variety, lots of choice there.
19:03Let me latch on to something you also just mentioned, the fully electric version of the GLA.
19:09The first two questions that always come to mind are, how far can I drive before I need to recharge,
19:15and when I do, how long does that take?
19:18The GLA has a really great range. It's up to 657 kilometers.
19:23So, if you travel with that car, range anxiety is probably not your travel buddy.
19:28And, we also have the 800 volts technology in there.
19:31So, this one is really a game changer.
19:35You can recharge up to 270 kilometers in just 10 minutes.
19:39So, talking about things that make life easier, we need to look at assistance systems.
19:44What do we need to know there? What has changed?
19:46So, we have plenty of great assistance systems.
19:50They're called MB Drive assistance systems.
19:52We have a great 360-degree camera, which allows for a perfect view around the car.
19:58So, there's one more feature I'd really like to mention.
20:01It's called Rim Protect, and it adds this distance warning to the top-view camera of the car,
20:07so you don't scratch the rims of your brand-new car.
20:10That would come in very handy, in my case.
