00:00Hello and welcome to this Jane's Weather Update National for Monday.
00:04We've had a lot of rain over southeast Queensland earlier this morning.
00:07That has now cleared out. There it goes.
00:10The next cold outbreak is moving across, about to reach the southeast.
00:13We've got heat out ahead of that one that is coming down,
00:16but most of that heat is now up in the northern parts of the country.
00:20So let's have a look at that.
00:21Here it extends right across there in terms of heat wave conditions,
00:24not right down into the southeast.
00:26It has retracted northwards.
00:27And that cold outbreak is on its way up and it will create some wet weather,
00:31but also some cooler conditions.
00:33So let's have a look day by day.
00:34Here we have Monday the 8th.
00:36Here's the cold outbreak.
00:37The blue line's in through there.
00:38It's not going to extend right inland, but the cooling effects from it will.
00:42Meanwhile, here is the heat, the red and the purple lines.
00:45That's how far down that extends for the moment.
00:47All of this here in southeast Queensland.
00:49That was early this morning.
00:50Now there's hardly anything left.
00:52Otherwise, things are looking fairly clear unless you're in through here,
00:55which is just east of a trough line.
00:56So that's Monday.
00:58Let's have a look at Tuesday.
00:59It's looking fairly quiet along the east coast in through there.
01:02Here's the cool outbreak moving across the southeast.
01:04It doesn't bring very much in terms of wet weather.
01:06We've just got this little bit down in through here.
01:08A little bit of heat there, but not right down into the southwest.
01:11So here is that heat area as we move through the day on Tuesday.
01:16And here is the cold air area.
01:18As we move into Wednesday, we've got a trough consolidating through southwestern Queensland,
01:23northeast New South Wales.
01:24So that's where the showers and thunderstorms are.
01:25You'll notice they're not reaching southeast Queensland.
01:28Just coming to Sydney there, though, whereas the southeast is looking fairly quiet.
01:32We've got a high-pressure ridge that is extending right across there.
01:35So the cold air is confined into the southeast there, right away down into the southeast.
01:39Have a look at Thursday.
01:40This one really kicks off, mainly for New South Wales and southwestern parts of Queensland.
01:45All of this activity across the north.
01:47We're going to see some heat moving into the southwest.
01:49That arrives on Friday and into the weekend.
01:52Meanwhile, this continues.
01:53So here we have Friday.
01:55There is the area of showers and thunderstorms just extending into the eastern parts of Victoria.
01:59Here we've got showers and thunderstorms in the west and the heat over in the southwest.
02:04Have a look at Saturday.
02:05Here's our next cold outbreak brewing down to the south.
02:07We've got heat that is in through here.
02:09So it's not really coming into the east.
02:11Instead, showers and thunderstorms are moving across Victoria as well.
02:15But that doesn't make it down into the southwest.
02:17The heat does.
02:18That is Saturday.
02:19Having a look at Sunday, that contracts northwards.
02:22Here's our next cold outbreak over the southeast.
02:24You'll really feel that on Monday.
02:26Meanwhile, heat over in the southwest.
02:28And into next Monday, there's our wet weather.
02:32Potential for a cyclone that's up here in the northwest.
02:34But that's a full week away.
02:35And we've got a change that moves across the southwest during the day on Monday.
02:39So what might that all add up to?
02:41Most of it is here in southwestern parts of Queensland.
02:44In the southeast, that there, that was this morning.
02:48So that has now all cleared.
02:49Here's our wet weather signal for New South Wales.
02:52Not over in the west, but more of an eastern thing.
02:55That dips down the corner, around the corner into Victoria there.
02:57The west coast of Tasmania gets it mainly today into tomorrow.
03:01And here's our activity in the west, not making it through to the southwest.
03:04As always, I do.
03:05Follow the line weather for the last.
