00:00Hello and welcome back to another exciting episode. Today we're going to
00:05unbox the Alicom Deft Pro trackball mouse. Well technically it's not a mouse it's a
00:18trackball but the reason why I got this is because since I'm retired I'm doing a
00:26lot more editing trying to catch up on things from the past and my arm is
00:32getting very sore so we looked at a couple different ways of doing editing
00:40and you know obviously what would cause my pain and pretty much that constant
00:48movement back and forth and clicking and all that kind of stuff supposedly is very
00:54common for editors I didn't know this because before I was doing part-time well
01:01one of the things that editors have said is get a trackball okay so this was
01:10highly rated on Amazon it is let's see there we go it's in another language in
01:23the back like some sort of a Asian language I don't know exactly what it is
01:29so I can't read it on the side however it does have its Bluetooth or it looks like
01:41Wi-Fi wireless okay oh sorry wireless Bluetooth or corded and because my
01:52computer is essentially right beside me down on the floor well lifted a little
01:57bit off the floor but it's essentially right next to me I'm probably going to use
02:02corded because that is the most secure way of connecting a mouse and in this case a
02:10trackball since the trackball is not going to be moving around I might as well just
02:14have it connected by cable and that's really all that I can read off this darn thing so let's go
02:26ahead and unbox and see what we got and what are we getting in this thing got secure tape oh and by the
02:37way when I didn't get this it was damaged a little bit here but it doesn't look like
02:43the actual mouse itself was damaged so that's interesting I'm on the inside cover is again an
02:51Asian Asian language I can't make it out other than the word Bluetooth down here at the bottom
02:58so hopefully this thing is going to work that's on there pretty good
03:07all right oh it does come with instructions let's see mouse assistant
03:27does it have English so far no no oh no English because as you guys know I always read the directions
03:48okay well now I have an excuse well that was worthless all right so we have
03:59a trackball right here we have the cord which is a mini USB to a USB looks like a 2.0
04:14battery there we go comes with a battery comes with a wireless transmitter and if you're not using a
04:31wireless transmitter there we go you just pop that in a storage bin and if you want to put a battery in
04:37for the wireless transmitter there's where you put it in of course I'm not going to put a battery in it
04:45because I'm going to use wired but on the bottom the switch L is low energy mode H is high energy mode if
04:59you want to do Bluetooth there's your pairing button DPI oh looks like you can click that and better do your I guess dots per inch as far as when you roll the ball how far the cursor goes back and forth
05:21back and forth huh interesting it does have button here button here so that's this is our function to function one has a whole bunch of buttons on the side
05:41that's a switch that'll be interesting to find out and you have your left here so left right function one function two
05:55two arrow keys and a function three button well this is going to be interesting without a whole lot of instruction so I think I am going to have to do instructions on this one
06:09on this one but I did see on here somewhere so I guess you can download a manual here at Alicon Co JPL Japan so this must be Japanese I might have to do that and it is in English
06:27now the download was pretty easy you just go to that website that was in the Japanese version of the manual and you have different selections
06:38you just go to the correct one which of course is model MDBT1MR and I think it has a couple other letters behind it but that's the one you click on and it gives you a PDF if you want to assign functions on that mouse then there is a Alicom
07:00mouse assistant you just go to their download section click on mouse assistant and it will take you to this page here and you just download for either Windows or Mac and of course at the bottom of the page they do have which language you want to download the mouse assistant in just pick the appropriate language
07:27to get the full function to get the full function however most of what I do oh that feels nice and solid that's pretty cool let's see oh that wheel is nice and solid
07:39and it does have a push function so I'm assuming it's like your regular scroll button on a mouse but let's go ahead and get this thing hooked up see if it works oh
07:54and right there looks like that's where the mini USB clicks and it's not a USB C ok it's the old type mini USB ok let's get this thing started now here is the mouse that I have now very good mouse it's the Logitech
08:21Logitech G502 Hero and again excellent excellent mouse however even though I had very good success with that we're going to have to swap it out with the trackball
08:37like I can see the trackball is quite a bit bigger and all I'm going to do is just swap out the inputs from my mouse to the trackball and then plug it in a moment of truth
08:56there we go
09:01put this camera up a little bit so you can see the system and it works oh yeah one quick side note
09:12just so you're aware if you put it in wired like I did you don't have to power it on because obviously the power is going through the cord
09:23so you don't have to worry about the low high stuff or pairing it or anything like that so as you saw it was off but so hit the left mouse button
09:35there we go now it is going to take a little bit for me to get used to this thing I could tell already so if you want to make those other function buttons functionable
09:50just go to the assistant
09:54and it will open it up down here at the lower left hand corner
