00:08There's Grand Cayman and we're off to Grand Cayman which is in where is it no it's Georgetown
00:25we're off to it's very early it's like oh dark 30 we're getting ready for early breakfast which starts
00:34at 6 30 it is now 5 30 but we're off to Georgetown that's it Georgetown Grand Cayman Islands
00:45so come along with us and see what we can see and now we're off to early breakfast see what's
00:57there
00:57for us today there's some breads and fruits and things like that not bad not bad at all
01:21we then went back to our room to get things ready for embarkation but we saw that the magic carpet
01:32was
01:33moving so we thought oh this would be a good opportunity to see how this thing works now I
01:39am going to speed up the video here a little bit because as you see thus far it moves very
01:45slow
01:47we thought that they were going to use that for the tendering because that is one of the uses of
01:52the magic carpet however we found out later and you'll see later in the video that that was not
01:58the case so I assume either they were repositioning the magic carpet for some other event they were
02:04going to be using it for or maybe they use it for supplies you know for people to bring supplies
02:12in from
02:12the shore I don't know but either way it was moving so we took time to watch and see how
02:21it works
02:25it is now 657 and it's currently 75 degrees fahrenheit now we got to go to the excursion meetup
02:38please you just have to make sure that you do have your tickets like for instance again we're going to
02:44georgetown grand cayman and it tells you the meeting time where it's at you know where you have to meet
02:51and here in grand cayman it is tender so we get to ride the tender today yay
03:10so we're group number two we're good stickers
03:15I've already done so just one person per party with those short excursion tickets can come down to the
03:20top of the stage and me and my colleagues can get you all checked in however if you are checked
03:25in
03:25already just have that wonderful sticker somewhere visible I can see so many so many of you already
03:29have and we will let you know when we're ready so we aren't ready for the next group at the
03:34moment
03:35we are just waiting for the ship's clearance by the local port authorities so we're just going to be
03:39looking at a couple more minutes but in the meantime we can just double check that you still have that
03:43short excursion ticket just make sure that you do still have it with you just also make sure that
03:48you have that room key please double check that you have that room key for yourself as well
03:53and so don't just assume that the other half did pick it up on the way out this morning please
03:57make
03:57sure that you physically have your own room key because when we get to the gangway there's no
04:01time to go back to his relations to get a new room key if you did forget it please do
04:07run back to the
04:07room now and retrieve your room key because it is essential is essential for today's tour
04:23if you were wondering yes I am letting this run so that you know and have an understanding of how
04:30a tender port works at least at Grand Cayman we followed the rest of the group down to level two
04:40which is where the tender port was off the side of the ship and I'll show you that in a
04:46minute but I
04:47thought it was neat that we even saw a little bit of the bowels of the ship as we were
04:52getting to the
04:53tender as you see you did have to get your sea legs going real quick but of course there were
05:03a lot of
05:04people around you would help you if you asked for it or if they see you were struggling a little
05:08bit
05:08I was lucky enough to get a seat at a place where we could see the little gangway that we
05:14were walking
05:14across and how they were pulling it back so that was really fun
05:31this was a great opportunity to view the ship from the ocean we got some pretty nice shots there
05:53so
06:01so
06:03so
11:53This is the east end blowholes.
11:55Now this is a phenomenon where if there are openings that were cut into the rock by the water in
12:03waves, it would create a blowhole effect, pushing the water through the holes. And as you see here, making a
12:12natural fountain of sorts. It was really nice and quite neat to see.
12:45Welcome to Tortuga.
12:49Next stop is the Tortuga Rum Company.
12:53Now this is where they have some very interesting statues out front, as well as the place you go to
13:00get rum tastings and rum cake.
13:04Now this is one of the only foods that they would readily allow to be brought back on the ship
13:11because it is sealed and in the containers.
13:15And you see all that as I tell you a little bit more about the Tortuga Rum Company.
13:20According to their website and print literature, in 1984, while working for Cayman Airlines, Captain Robert Hamity and his wife,
13:32Carleen, who was an in-flight supervisor, founded the Tortuga Rum Company Limited.
13:38They introduced the first rums of the Cayman Islands, primarily to appeal as a souvenir to the growing tourist and
13:47cruise passenger business.
13:49In 1987, they opened the first Tortuga duty-free liquor store and later that year, introduced the now world-famous
13:59Tortuga Caribbean Rum Cake.
14:02Which, if I may say, is quite good from the samples that we got.
14:07For years, Carleen had baked rum cakes for special occasions using a four-generation-old family recipe.
14:16Now friends in the food business encouraged her to make it part of the Tortuga line.
14:22First offered at a local restaurant, her moist, delectable cake was an instant hit.
14:30And by 1990, the demand was so great that the company expanded with a bakery, making their cake the Caribbean's
14:38first commercially produced rum cake.
14:41A custom vacuum-sealed packaging machine was added in 1991.
14:47Now this process prolongs the cake shelf life for up to 12 months, or indefinitely if refrigerated or frozen, which
14:56is ideal for distribution anywhere in the world.
15:00In 1997, Tortuga Imports and Tortuga Rum Cake Company opened in Miami, Florida to handle worldwide distribution, mail ordering, and
15:12online sales.
15:13And then finally, on June 2nd of 2012, the Tortuga Rum Company, Tortuga Imports and Franchise Bakeries, Tortuga CRC Jamaica,
15:26and Tortuga Barbados Baker's Choice,
15:31they consolidated their regional interest and united into a new international food group called Tortuga International Holdings Limited.
15:41Now Robert and Carlene Hamity continued to own Tortuga Liquors, the wholesale and liquor distribution business in Grand Cayman, and
15:51are shareholders in Tortuga International.
15:55And that brings us up to date.
15:58So at this point, we are going to hell.
16:01The Devil's Hangout.
16:04Surprisingly, it wasn't nearly as hot as I expected.
16:07So welcome to hell, Devil's Hangout.
16:14Located in the district of West Bay on Grand Cayman, hell is not only an obvious tourist stop, but is
16:23also a unique natural wonder of rugged, blackened limestone outcropping.
16:30The jagged formations are a result of millions of years of geological evolution due to acid rain and the consumption
16:40of the rock by carbonate-loving organisms.
16:44Now the erosion has left kind of an eerie and desolate-looking landscape, earning this location its highly appropriate name.
16:54Now the rocks are estimated to be between 10 and 15 million years old.
17:01We know that visitors have been flocking here for decades.
17:05For the breaking rites that they have, you know, been to hell and back, or simply they've been told to
17:12go to hell, so they did.
17:13You know, that kind of thing.
17:15Naturally, the devil roams at hell, and no visit is complete without a photo taken with him.
17:22And there is a place where you can have a postcard dispatched from the hell post office.
17:27So you can send somebody a postcard from hell.
17:30Hell, and just as a side note, hell is located on lands that are owned by the Cayman Islands government,
17:37as well as on adjoining areas, which are privately owned and offers kind of a neat little tourist trap and
17:47shopping experience.
17:53Okay, now we're going to seven-mile beach.
17:56Well, due to erosion, it's more like five-and-a-half-mile beach now.
18:01They do have bathrooms here, as well as all kinds of bars, restaurants, beautiful area.
18:16There's also a lot of water activities you can do here, like these little jet boats that look like sports
18:23cars, which I thought was really neat.
18:26Just take a look at all the little stuff we saw.
18:32I thought it was really neat.
18:51Just take a look at all the little stuff.
18:52I thought it was really neat.
18:58I thought it was really neat.
19:45And just like that, we had to go.
19:49So we got back on the bus, went back to the port, and did our tender ride back to the
19:56boat.
19:57Now, don't go anywhere because there's some things on the boat that we did that you're going to want to
20:04see,
20:05especially in the evening, where we saw an excellent theater show.
20:11You've got to mind your head.
20:13Welcome back.
20:15Welcome back.
20:22We went back to our room to freshen up and put long pants on so we can go to dinner.
20:28And we saw the last of the tenders leaving.
20:31But it was a little too early for our dinner reservations.
20:35So we decided to go back to Eden and see if we can get our turn on the bucket's wings.
20:42And just sit and relax and watch the waves.
20:49Hello.
20:50Goodbye.
20:58When it was time to eat at the Cosmopolitan restaurant, we sat down, got our vegan menus.
21:06Better order the Kviva broccoli.
21:11Butternut burrito.
21:13I don't know.
21:14They're probably a showman.
21:15And again, it was okay.
21:19It was edible, but it wasn't great.
21:22Really, the only thing we could say negative about the cruise itself was the vegan food.
21:28So that's not too bad.
21:30After supper, we decided to go to the theater and see the Tree of Life.
21:40Where we met up with Sue Smith from Skip and Sue's Adventures and a common friend of both of ours,
21:48Judy.
21:49Of course, just like any show, the music is probably copyrighted, so I'm not going to show a whole lot
21:55of it.
21:56But just enough to let you know the talent of the performers and kind of get you a feel of
22:02what we saw.
22:04Little darling, it's been a long, lonely winter.
22:10It's alright, it's alright.
22:13Sun, sun, sun, here it comes.
22:17Don't you know we're going up in the sun, sun, sun, here it comes.
22:22It's been that we've been lost.
22:26Maybe what is trying is all we need.
22:31Anywhere you go, I'll follow you down.
22:36You will wear the dress.
22:38Oh, here it's me.
22:40Do you need to melt it by the way?
22:53It's the past, since those summer days, up on the fields of Bali.
23:02See the children run as the sun knows down.
23:08Oh, hey, sister.
23:14Oh, the water's sweet, but love is thicker.
23:18Oh, my God.
23:19Oh, can't try.
23:26Oh, God.
23:29Oh, my God.
23:39I can jump my heart down and start beating for you
23:46Baby, I don't know where it goes, but it's only me and I won't belong
23:53Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
24:06I don't know where it goes, but it's only me and I won't belong
24:18Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
24:32We all thought it was an excellent show
24:40And we all can't wait until our excursion tomorrow to Cozumel, Mexico
24:47So don't forget to come back and check that out
24:50And as always, have a great day
24:56We'll see you next time
25:13We'll see you next time
