K&F Concept LP-E17 Replacement Battery Unboxing, Test, and First Use
Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome back to another exciting episode. Today we have something
00:05really interesting. I personally have never used this before. Well, let's just
00:13get into it. For my Canon R10, which is what that camera is right there, the
00:22battery that came with it is a very good battery, Canon battery. It's the LP
00:29E17. It does really well, but when I got some backup batteries, they do okay too,
00:41but there are times when I have to go charging them. It's not very convenient
00:47to charge. So I was trying to look for something that I can charge on the go.
00:54You know, if there is any type of battery that I could just plug right into the
00:58battery and charge it up, it's like, well, that's kind of weird. I doubt that's
01:01anybody makes something like that. Well, guess what? They do. So this is K&F
01:09Concepts. And this is really, really cool. If it works. Multi-protection, it says. Long
01:19lasting battery life and quick charge. And it is, of course, model LP E17. It has
01:30USB-C attachment. Wait, do you see this? And again, hopefully it works. So this video
01:37is not going to be much of anything. So stay tuned. Well, I hope it works because
01:45I just busted the package. Oh well. All right. So opening this up, we have
01:53lots of materials. We have camera battery instructions. It's in French, Italian, English.
02:05Oh, excuse me. Spanish, English, and Deutsch. Essentially just keep it away from fire. Do
02:15not use the battery if it swells or leaks. Duh. And do not use in excessively high temperatures.
02:25Sometimes I do that. And please use the original charger or K&F Concept charger to charge the batteries.
02:33Huh. Maybe you can use this in the original Canon charger. Unless I'm misreading that. So the battery
02:43is a lithium battery. And five volts. One to one and a half amps. And really that's about
02:53it. Advertisement. And thank yous. Oh, just general overview information. Oh, what's this?
03:02Uh, we have a USB-A to a USB-C. That's nice that they came with that in the short one. I like that.
03:14And now, ha ha. Here's what I've been waiting for. Now this has, of course, all the general
03:26information, the cautions, and all that's on the back. And then here's the input pins. I should say
03:34the receptacle for the pins. Nothing really on either side. But then here, this is cool. Right there
03:43is where you can plug it in and charge it. Right from the battery. Look at that.
03:52Bing. Now in the car that I have, it has USB-C cables in it. So as we're driving down the road,
04:04I can just plug this thing in. And it'll be charged for the next stop if I have long shoots.
04:10That is going to be so cool and so convenient. And also for, you know, if I'm in a hotel room and
04:17they have the USB-Cs, I can just plug it in. Especially if, you know, sometimes the, you know,
04:24you forget your charger, or the charger doesn't work when you're out and about. That's happened
04:31to me a couple times too. So this will hopefully alleviate that issue. So let's go and test this
04:40thing out, see if it works. Of course, plug it in and see if it'll charge just from this. And then
04:46we'll plug it into the original charger to see if it charges in that.
04:53Hmm. That'll be interesting. Okay. First off, let's go ahead and see
05:00if the original charger will take the charge. Ooh, it will not.
05:06Not. So note that the original Canon charger does not charge these new batteries.
05:20Try it again. Nope. It does not do it.
05:23Okay. Second thing we're going to do is I have an off-band battery charger. Let's see if that will work.
05:37That does. Okay. So the off-band battery charger does work. That's nice and convenient.
05:46And now here's the part that I am really interested in. So let's see if this works. I think that's a light
05:56there. An LED, but I'm not sure. Might just be like a reset button or something. Let's see.
06:06It is. Okay. So it is charging. So I'm going to assume it turns green once it is done.
06:16Check back with me in a second and we'll see. Ah, yep. My assumption was correct.
06:25When it's charged up, it turns green. Now let's see if this actually works inside the Canon R10.
06:36That, of course, is the big test and real reason why I bought these batteries. Yep.
06:46It fits. Ah. Yep. It works good. I was a little concerned because it has that extra piece at the
06:55top where you charge. Close it up. Trying to do with this one hand while I hold the camera with the other.
07:05Let's see here.
07:06Is it going to go? Yes. Look at that. Oh, that's awesome.
07:13And it's recording. Ha ha. Got all the studio in there. Oh, that's great.
07:24Let's see if it'll play back. And it has the power to play back. All right.
07:33That's great. Well, that's what I needed to know.
07:37And I hope this helped for you guys to make a decision if you're going to buy some of these.
07:41And as always, have a great day.
