00:17and described it as very respectful and cordial.

00:39The Palestinian-resistant movement Hamas delivers the body of an Israeli prisoner to the International Committee of the Red Cross as part of the ceasefire agreement.
00:50Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Sofía Fernández from the Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba. We'll begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:01Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro revealed that he had a respectful and cordial telephone conversation with his US counterpart, Donald Trump.
01:22The President assured that the call was initiated by the White House, where he advocated for a direct dialogue for peace amidst the US military deployment near the Venezuelan coast.
01:33From an event in Petare Miranda State, the head of State affirmed that if the call represents a step towards dialogue and diplomacy, we'll be welcome.
01:42Maduro also emphasized that the US citizens are tired of eternal wars, referring to Washington's past conflicts abroad.
01:49In turn, he concluded with a message of firmness, assuring that the colonial powers of the world will never be able to subjugate the Venezuelan people.
02:01Meanwhile, two new flights with over 500 Venezuelan migrants from the United States and Mexico arrived in Caracas Wednesday as part of the humanitarian Return to the Homeland Plant.
02:16The flights are the first with Venezuelan migrants to arrive in the Bolivarian nation since US President Donald Trump declared the closure of his airspace last weekend.
02:26With Wednesday's arrival, more than 18,000 Venezuelan migrants have come back home as part of the government's efforts to guarantee the safety return of Venezuelan migrants.
02:36Authorities emphasize that the returnees are contributing to the nation's economic growth and productive development.
02:43In the United States, interfaith leaders, community leaders and elected officials from New York held a vigil for peace and dialogue for Venezuela.
03:11Various interfaith and community leaders gather in New York to demand what the US government find a diplomatic solution in Venezuela,
03:19in the face of growing threat by the Donald Trump administration to carry that military intervention in the South American nation,
03:26in a vigil that aligns with the urgent calls from the Vatican and the World Council of Churches.
03:32The organizers denounced reports of U.S. military attacks that killed more than 80 people in addition to the military deployment in the Caribbean,
03:41operations classified as extrajudicial executions and violations of international law.
03:47They also emphasize the need for diplomacy to prevent further loss of innocent lives in the Trump administration's engagements in a world not authorized by the US Congress.
03:57The intense relationship we have had with the government over the last 25 years in the United States.
04:09We have never been in a situation like the one we are now.
04:12Where we have a navy, the largest navy in the world, that has docked near our coasts and is killing civilians in small boats.
04:29And these civilians are not fighters who should be killed in a conflict.
04:41I tell you, there is no conflict.
04:45There are no combatants.
04:47There are no armed attacks.
04:50There are no international or national conflicts, as they want to say.
05:01They want to say that they are killing terrorists.
05:03There are no terrorists in Venezuela.
05:06There has never been an attack by Venezuela on the United States.
05:11Nor a terrorist attack, nor an attack by an armed conflict.
05:17In other news, the presidential candidate for the Libre Party, Rixe Moncada, denounced that in Honduras there is an electoral coup underway by the big partisanship sponsored by U.S. interference.
05:30In a special interview for Telesur, the candidate retaliated that the two-party system is committing electoral fraud, whose maneuvers had already been denounced in advance.
05:39Moncada explained the inconsistency in more than 3,000 records altered the preliminary results, and despite this, the CNE issued data in favor of the two-party system.
05:52The candidate assured that she could accept the results that are 100% of the records verified by the Libre Party system.
05:59Subsequently, Rixe Moncada denounced the threat made by U.S. President Donald Trump against the Honduran people if they did not vote for the candidate of his choice, an action that confirms the interference.
06:12In this regard, she also rejected the power granted to former President Juan Morelano Hernandez, who was convicted of drug trafficking, a pardon that contradicts Trump's supposed fight against drugs.
06:27An electoral coup that is underway.
06:30Three straightforward messages from the President of the United States, practical against me, against my proposal, but with an additional component, freeing from jail former President Juan Orlando Hernandez,
06:54who was sentenced by the U.S. Justice System to 45 years in prison for trafficking more than 400 tons of cocaine to the United States.
07:09In the framework of the general elections to define a new government, it is an ongoing electoral coup.
07:19Moncada also accused the United States of interfering in the elections, by saying publicly that right-wing Nasrías Fura was their candidate, and by threatening to cut the remissances if she won the elections.
07:32He is his candidate, and that you have to vote for him. But that did not come on its own. That came, and so that people, especially throughout the region, understand it.
07:41It came along with millions of messages that were sent to people's phones, saying that if Rixi Moncada wins the elections, the remittances for the month of December will not arrive.
07:57Honduras has approximately 2.5 million people who receive remittances from the United States.
08:02Extortion.
08:03It is an extortion, coercion, blackmail, a mechanism of interference, which in my opinion, is a platform that they are testing in Honduras to see what the result is, especially because we are still holding elections in Latin America.
08:23Rixi Moncada also reminded that even before the election, she had already denounced the electoral coup, and said she does not accept the system of transmissions of results, which she described as flawed and treasuries.
08:38And now we have a short break coming up. But first, remember, we have to look at the electoral coup that is underway.
08:45And it was denounced in its time. And I ratify that I do not accept the system of transmission of the results.
08:55Because it is a treasuries flawed system that carries within mechanisms that do not allow for a transparent, free and democratic election.
09:03And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok

09:45and urgent improvements in working conditions in the public sector.
09:49The protest led by the National Medical Union was intended to demand that the government
09:54of Santiago Peña immediately implement decent working conditions for the public health sector.
10:00The professionals pointed out that the root of the problem goes beyond low investment,
10:05and is exacerbated by the current administration's poor public management.

10:15and fundamentally ensuring a functional health care system that benefits all Paraguayan citizens.
10:30Meanwhile, in Mexico, the government announced a 13% increase to the minimum wage, which will

10:42During her morning press conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that the measure would
10:47benefit 8.5 million workers and increase the average monthly wage to $524.62, with an increase
10:56to $734.15 in the northern border-free zone.
11:01This is equivalent to a 154% increase in the purchasing power of Mexicans, from 2018 to 2026.
11:10In addition, the President of the Business Coordinating Council, Francisco Cervantes-Díaz,
11:14emphasized that the government and the business sector have remained willing to negotiate terms
11:19that favor Mexicans, especially the most vulnerable, without affecting inflation.
11:24A significant increase of the minimum wage, the disappearance of outsourcing, which seemed
11:39impossible to achieve, and through agreements, negotiations, and dialogue.
11:44We have reached the point where there can be no subcontracting.
11:56Third, everything to do with justice in the workplace has changed radically, pensions have
12:01also increased, what else? Profit sharing, and now the 40-hour work week.
12:06holidays. The afores commissions were reduced. Digital platforms. Well, they are 10, and all
12:23have been achieved by consensus.

12:36prison for Coupe Claude, could be transferred to a semi-open prison on April 23, 2033, and be

12:55Federal District. Sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in close prison. The end of his sentence is
13:02scheduled for 2052. Bolsonaro began serving his final sentence at the end of November at the Federal

13:39historical pact political movement on Wednesday, approving the merger of three political organizations
13:45and consolidating its electoral strength. The electoral bodies document recognizes the legal status of the
13:52historical pact political movement, formed from the merger of the Patriotic Union Party, the Alternative
13:59Democratic Poll Party, and the Colombian Communist Party. The resolution was registered in the Registry of
14:05political parties, movements and groups. Once the sanctioning of the merged organization is complete,
14:12the will be dissolved without liquidation and their rights and obligations will be assumed by the new
14:18political movement.
14:19In other news, the 57th Executive Board meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies,

15:53Welcome back. The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, delivers the body of an Israeli prisoner to the
16:19international committee of the Red Cross, in the city of Beit El Leya, north of the Gaza Strip, as part of the
16:25ceasefire agreement. The Palestinian resistance movement and the Red Cross continue the search for
16:31Israeli bodies in Beit El Leya area, adhering to the truce. Hamas urged mediators to pressure Israel to
16:38fulfill its obligations under the ceasefire agreement, including the withdrawal of troops from border crossings
16:44and moving towards the second phase of the agreement. It also demands the opening of the Harafa Crossing to
16:50facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the coastal enclave.
17:00Also in Palestine, the municipality of Gaza is organizing the delivery of prosthetics to dozens of amputees
17:06who were victims of the genocide perpetrated by Israel, as part of the International Day of People with Disabilities.
17:13The meeting, led by the mayor of the Gaza City, Yaya al-Sahra, was part of a government initiative to
17:20provide prosthetics and other mobility devices to victims of Israeli attacks, so that they can
17:25reintegrate into their daily life. In the sense, hundreds of Gazans who lost limbs during the genocide
17:32attended the event, hoping to benefit from donations. Mayor al-Sahra emphasized the need to receive
17:38external aid to meet the demand from the large number of amputated Gazans.
17:51In other news, representatives from Lebanon and Israel held their first direct talks in over 40 years,
17:57under the ceasefire agreement. This meeting took place at the headquarters of the United Nations
18:03peacekeeping force in the town of Nakhura, on the border with Israel.
18:08Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam emphasized that despite this new diplomatic contact,
18:13this meeting does not equate to border peace talks between the two countries,
18:18which officially remain in a state of war. Salam added that the objective of this meeting
18:23is to achieve the total withdrawal of Israel from the Lebanese territory,
18:27where the Zionist army maintains positions in the South-South region.
18:40Moving now to Australia, starting December 10th, Facebook, Instagram, Kik, Reddit, Snapchat,
18:46Threads, TikTok, X and YouTube could face fines up to 303 million if they failed to remove the
18:54accounts of Australian children under 16th. Social media platforms must report monthly
19:01how many children accounts they close once Australia begins enforcing its 16-year age limit.
19:08Live streaming services Trish was added to the list of age-restricted platforms less than two weeks ago.
19:14The Australian Easy Safety Commissioner will send 10 platform notices on December 11th,
19:21demanding information about the numbers of accounts removed. Mostly notices would follow for six months.
19:28The E-Safety Regulator said a court will apply the penalty up to the maximum if the platform has repeated violations.
19:41In one week, Australia will become the first country in the world to ban under-16s from having social media accounts.
19:49One law, we can protect Generation Alpha from being sucked into purgatory by predatory algorithms described by the man
19:59who created the feature as behavioral cocaine. Through one reform, more kids will have their time back
20:08to learn an instrument or a language or walk their dog or master a torpedo punt or the perfect
20:14log pass. Meanwhile, the technology company Meta, owner of Facebook, Instagram and Threads,
20:21on Thursday implemented access restrictions in Australia for users under the age of 16
20:27in order to comply with new legislation in the country. In November 2024, the Senate
20:33pays a lot of spreading the protection of minors online, which will come into force on December 10th.
20:40A Meta spokesperson confirmed they will allow Australian children and teenagers to keep and
20:45download the digital history before the regulation comes into force. When they turn 16, Meta will
20:52give them back access and they will be able to restore all content. The proposed legislation
20:58in parliament was based on the health and safety of individuals, with priority given to the
21:03younger generation. Moving now to India, an aircraft made an emergency landing at Mumbai airport
21:18after receiving a bomb threat. The flight traveling from Kuwait to Hinderbarad was
21:25deverted in the air after officials received an email warning that there was a human bomb on board.
21:31After landing, the aircraft was immediately transferred to an isolation area, where bomb disposal teams
21:37inspected it and concluded that it was a false alarm. According to official data, in the course of the
21:43past year, 2024, the number of calls with false bomb threats was 999. The Aviation Security Agency proposed
21:52a flight ban of up to 5 years for anyone who issues such an alarm.
22:06We continue in India, where its capital, New Delhi, is covered by a dense layer of toxic smoke. The density of the
22:20toxic fog hides buildings and landmarks for miles. Environmental data attributes this pollution to
22:29a combination of crop residue borne by farmers in neighboring states, factory emissions, traffic
22:35congestion and other climatic factors. The same report also points out that on some days the concentration of
22:42PM2.5, fine particles exceeds the maximum limit recommended by the World Health Organization by dozens of
22:51times, exposing nearly 30 million people to various health risks.
22:55And like this, we have come to the end of this news brief. You can find this and many other stories on
