00:00In Honduras, the presidential candidate for the Libre Party, Rixi Moncara, condemned the United States' interventionism in the upcoming run-up elections to be held this Sunday, November 30th.
00:24In the United States, a survey indicated that President Donald Trump's approval rating has reached its lowest point during his second term in office, with 60% of the population disagreeing with the president's management so far.
00:44In a new offensive, 130 Palestinians were wounded in the West Bank over the raid of Tubas by the Israeli army.
00:56Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Sophie Fernandez from the Dele Sur Studios in Havana, Cuba. We'll begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:14In Honduras, the presidential candidate for the Libre Party, Rixi Moncara, condemned the United States' intentions to grant a full pardon to former Honduran president Juan Orlando Hernández, sentenced to 45 years in prison for drug trafficking.
01:31On the eve of the 2025 general elections, Moncara recalled the economic decline and plundering that plagued the country during the narco-dictatorship led by Juan Orlando Hernández between 2014 and 2022.
01:45In this regard, Moncara denounced Donald Trump's statements regarding parloring the former Honduran president, and asserted that this is a strategy to favor the bright wind in the run-up to the Sunday's presidential elections.
01:56She also assured that the actions of third countries will not stop the will of the people to express themselves at the ballot box in rejection of corruption.
02:06On November 30, 2025, over 6.5 million Honduran citizens will head to the polls in a high-stakes election that will determine the country's political trajectory for the years to come.
02:27Let's take a look at the presidential candidates.
02:30Rixi Ramona Moncara Godoy is the candidate for the Liberty and Refundation Party Libre, and represents the continuity of the current government's progressive agenda.
02:40A lawyer, former judge, and a first woman to serve as Honduran's Minister of National Defense, Moncara has held key roles.
02:47She was key to the post-2009 resistance against the U.S.-backed coup that ousted President Manuel Zelaya and later helped fund the Libre Party.
02:58She was appointed defense minister by President Castro amid perceived threats to national sovereignty.
03:03We move on to the candidate to the National Party, Nazare Juan Asfura Nasabla.
03:16He is a wealthy construction magnate and former mayor of Tegucigalpa, and the candidate of Honduras' traditional right-wing establishment.
03:22Notably, he was being publicly endorsed by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who declared Asfura the candidate to Washington good support and whom future U.S. aid allegedly depends.
03:34Asfura's 2021 presidential run ended in defeat, but his return is seen as an attempt to reinstate the political forces linked to the ex-president Juan Orlando Hernandez,
03:45now serving a U.S. prison sentence for drug trafficking and weapon smuggling.
03:48He was named in the Pandora Papers for offshore holdings and face corruption allegations.
03:59And finally, we have the candidate for the Libre Party, Salvador Alejandro Nasralla Salun.
04:05He is the former TV host and engineer, and recents a more unpredictable variability.
04:10Originally running as an anti-establishment figure, Nasralla joined Libre's 2021 ticket as the first presidential designate after dropping his own candidacy only later to break with Castro's government.
04:24U.S. President Donald Trump recently accused him of pretending to be anti-communist just to split Asfura's vote.
04:29His current campaign attempts to position him as a centrist's alternative, though this shift in alliance have raised questions about his consistency.
04:38In other news, the Bolivarian Alliance for the People of Our America, ALBA, expressed through a communique in their website and profile on social network X their condemnation of U.S. President Donald Trump's threats against Venezuela's airspace sovereignty.
05:00The statement says,
05:03This announcement, which is deeply hostile, disproportionate and incompatible with international law, constitutes an act of political aggression that reaffirms Washington's imperial behavior against the free peoples of Latin America.
05:16ALBA also denounces that this threat is part of a geopolitical plan aimed at eroding the self-determination of Latin American and Caribbean states through military, economic and diplomatic pressure.
05:27The organization also stated that attempting to exercise extraterritorial jurisdiction over Venezuelan territory, imposing instructions or conditioning the integrity of its airspace is not only illegal but also constitutes an arrogant provocation against the entire region.
05:45It is the reaffirmation of an old pattern, the one of those who still believe they have the right to impose rules on our skies, our borders and our destiny.
05:55Meanwhile in Venezuela, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces threatens its defense of the coast, where maneuvers are being conducted to guarantee the country's sovereignty.
06:10The objective is to carry out the coastal defense exercise within the framework of Operation Independence 200.
06:16In the state of Ansoategui, the Integral Defense Operation Luzón deployed air defense systems to protect the territory.
06:23Meanwhile, on the coast of Puerto Cabello, Carabobo State, the positions of the field of artillery are reviewed, while in Miranda State territorial defense plans were adjusted.
06:34The organized people's power and local authorities are actively participating in the work, reaffirming that the protection of the nation is a shared responsibility.

07:12Welcome back to From the South.
07:27In Honduras, there is a small town that stands out for rich craftsmanship.
07:32We are talking about the town of Valle de Ángeles, located on the Oscars of Tegucigalpa.
07:36Our special envoy, Roberto Hugo Presa, traveled there to show us this picturesque place.
07:44With a land area of 106 square kilometers, this picturesque place welcomes many domestic and foreign tourists, attracted by its architecture, pleasant climate, architectural richness and varied handicrafts.
07:56Valle de Ángeles is known as the crafting cradle of the Francisco Morazán department.
08:01In 1960, the first craft center in Valle de Ángeles called El Cava was established.
08:10Unfortunately, it no longer exists, but we still have the artisans who continue to do their craft.
08:18Its craftsmanship is what has made Valle de Ángeles a tourist destination for people looking for exclusive pieces made of leather, wood and clay.
08:28Now, we have created a mix of attractions.
08:35Rolando displays in his shop a variety of jewelry and ornaments made from quartz, jade and marble, among other minerals.
08:44The main thing we use for tourists is quartz, that is, we make quartz necklaces here.
08:55So the tourists who come here are national and international because many famous people from all over the world visit us here because we are number 50.
09:05One of the best towns in the world.
09:16At every turn, creativity is transformed into artwork. For example, in this small workshop, scrap metal is turned into works of art.
09:23Basically, we are trying to illustrate what a musician would be like. This musician is elaborate, let's say the music comes from below and costs. The theme is everything it has taken for the musician to reach the top.
09:38And we also make small pieces, like Harley styles, small motorcycles. Then, giving a second chance to scrap metal and recycling.
09:53Culture and art also emerge from the heart of the people. Dennis Berrios paints from head to toe, and his works have crossed borders. His latest collection, exhibited in Rome and Mexico, portrays the suffering of migrants and is a silent cry or protest against the criminalization they endure.
10:12The idea is to create a traveling exhibition. To show it in different cities and states as a demonstration of support for migrants.
10:31Sending the message that migration should be a right, without limits or borders.
10:38The people of this place are proud to show the world their cultural, architectural, artistic, gastronomic and artisanal wealth, which generates tourism and boosts the local economy.
10:55Val de Angelis is a very cultural town. We have several murals. It is a very picturesque town. In addition, we have different types of clothing, so I truly invite you to come.
11:05The authorities, residents and artisans of this place say that this town has become a magnet for nationals and tourists who come to acquire this natural wealth transformed into handicrafts.
11:12Moving on to the United States, President Donald Trump's approval rating has reached its lowest point in the 10 months of his second term.

11:42The new rating is one point lower than that recorded last July, although the polling company noted that in the months since it has been between 40 and 41%.
11:51Trump's lowest historical rating is 34% and occurred after the attack on the Capitol at the end of his first term in January 2021.

12:34The chain of explosions in the neighborhood caused serious damage to the facades of houses, four of which were damaged by the disaster.
12:42Also, several children were injured due to the fire caused by the fireworks. However, family members helped in the search for possible survivals.
12:49Meanwhile in Peru, the armed forces were deployed to the border area with Chile, after the unelected President José Jairí declared a state of emergency in Tacna.
13:08Uniformed officers arrived at the Santa Rosa border complex to strengthen surveillance, coordinate joint operations and approve response capacity at immigration checkpoints.
13:19The state of emergency of the border with Chile was declared to provide peace of mind in the face of the risk of unauthorized migrants entering the country.
13:28For his part, the Minister of Interior arrived in the detention reading area to coordinate additional measures with representatives of the army, the national police, migration, as well as other regional and local institutions and authorities.
13:40Colombian authorities declared an orange alert due to increased seismic activity at the Puráce Volcano.
13:47The National Unit for Disaster for Risk Management raised the alert level and began preparations after recording a seismic activity at the Puráce Volcano.
13:54In turn, the agency warned that moderate to high levels of tremors could occur, along with increased steam plumps, frequent ash emissions, minor eruptions and rock expulsions.
14:00As a result, it instructed local authorities to implement territorial response strategies.

16:03In addition, community workshops and spaces are offered for artisans to showcase their work, consolidating the event as a key element in the protection of cultural rights of indigenous and African-Mexican peoples.
16:15In a new offensive, the Israeli army left 130 Palestinians wounded in the West Bank over Noreth of Tubas.
16:23Last Wednesday, Israeli army forces imposed a curfew in the area and deployed many troops, including commander units and the Menasche and Shorum Brigades, emptying the village of Tamund and the Al-Fara Refugee Camp.

16:56More than 22,000 sick and injured Palestinians are waiting to be evacuated from the Gaza Strip to receive medical treatment abroad.
17:11Health authorities specify that approximately 18,100 cases have already been approved, including children with cancer and other injuries.
17:19These cases were presented afterwards with the World Health Organization, with the aim of facilitating their transfer of Gaza.

18:42There was broad social and political consensus on the common need to denounce the genocide that took place in Palestine, raging from popular movements to institutional sectors.
18:53Also in a collective act from different spaces and with different voices, the victims were remembered by reading each of their names as part of the same tragic story.
